A shaking table test was performed to investigate the different responses of piles with and without cement-soil reinforcement, considering both inertial and kinematic interactions.A comparison of the dynamic shear stress−strain hysteresis curves of soil profiles on the pile side with and without cement-soil reinforced piles indicates that cement-soil reinforced piles not only bear more tremendous shear stress but also have smaller strains under the action of cyclic shear stress.Furthermore, the cement-soil on the pile side not only shares part of the shear stress and modifies the bending moment distribution but also significantly enhances the resistance of the pile-side soil, reducing the lateral displacement of the superstructure.Cement-soil reinforcement reduced shear strains, inhibited sand liquefaction, and reduced superstructure displacements by 27%−47%(instantaneous)and 40%−65%(permanent).The proportion of horizontal load sharing between cement-soil reinforcement and saturated sand is considered, along with the change pattern of the subgrade reaction after sand liquefaction. An equivalent subgrade reaction calculation method is proposed, which accounts for the horizontal load-sharing ratios of soils with two different strengths. The test results indicate that the pile stress and displacement, estimated using the equivalent subgrade reaction, are in good agreement with the observed results. 展开更多

In the present work, the porous Ti particle reinforced Mg-based bulk metallic glass matrix composites(BMGCs)have been successfully fabricated via a novel in-situ dealloying method in metallic melt.A dual reinforcing structure, including large-scale between porous particles and fine-scale inside one particle, was induced to further overcome the strength-plasticity tradeoff. The microstructure and mechanical properties of such dual-scale structure-reinforced BMGCs with various volume fractions and diameters of porous Ti particles were investigated in detail. It is found that with more and finer porous Ti particles, the BMGC showed both high fracture strength(1131.9±39.1 MPa)and good plastic deformability(1.48±0.38%).The characteristic of the reinforcing structure(0.48μm)inside the porous particles was close to the plastic processing zone size of the matrix(0.1~0.2μm),which generated a locally ideal reinforcing structure.Such dual-scale reinforcing structures with more interfaces can effectively promote the multiplication of shear bands at the interfaces.Due to the size effect, the refined submicron matrix between the Ti ligaments inside the porous particles should exhibit homogeneous shearing events.Such delocalization behavior from the dual-scale reinforcing structures should help to enhance the role of the interactions between shear bands, thus improving the yield strength of the composites.Based on the in-situ dealloying method, the dual-scale structure design provides a novel approach to fabricate various BMGCs with both high strength and good plasticity. 展开更多

According to the Mindlin plate theory and the first-order piston theory, this work obtains accurate closed-form eigensolutions for the flutter problem of three-dimensional(3D)rectangular laminated panels. The governing differential equations are derived by the Hamilton's variational principle, and then solved by the iterative Separation-of-Variable(i SOV)method, which are applicable to arbitrary combinations of homogeneous Boundary Conditions(BCs).However, only the simply-support,clamped and cantilever panels are considered in this work for the sake of clarity. With the closed-form eigensolutions, the flutter frequency, flutter mode and flutter boundary are presented, and the effect of shear deformation and aerodynamic damping on flutter frequencies is investigated.Besides, the relation between panel energy and the work of aerodynamic load is discussed. The numerical comparisons reveal the following.(A)The flutter eigenvalues obtained by the present method are accurate, validated by the Finite Element Method(FEM)and the Galerkin method.(B)When the span-chord ratio is larger than 3,simplifying a 3D panel to 2D(two-dimensional)panel is reasonable and the relative differences of the flutter points predicted by the two models are less than one percent.(C)The reciprocal relationship between the mechanical energy of the panel and the work done by aerodynamic load is verified by using the present flutter eigenvalues and modes, further indicating the high accuracy of the present solutions.(D)The coupling of shear deformation and aerodynamic damping prevents frequency coalescing. 展开更多

In order to enhance the fracture toughness of mullite, three-dimensional braided carbon fiber reinforced mullite(C/mullite) composites were prepared using the Al2O3-SiO2 sol with a high solid content as raw material. Mullitization behavior of the sol was characterized. Then, the microstructure, mechanical properties and oxidation resistance of C/mullite composites were investigated. It is found that the SiO2-rich mullite with desirable sintering shrinkage can be synthesized at 1 300 ℃ from the sol with an Al2O3/SiO2 mass ratio of 1:1. The C/mullite composites with a total porosity of 21.5% were fabricated by repeating 18 cycles of vacuum impregnation-drying-heat treatment, showing a flexural strength of 234.5 MPa and a fracture toughness of 13.1 MPa·m1/2. Since carbon fibers were protected by compact matrix, the C/mullite composites show favorable oxidation resistance during 1 200 ℃-1 600 ℃ even if an open porosity of 10.3% was detected. 展开更多

Based on the upper bound of limit analysis, the plane-strain analysis of the slopes reinforced with a row of piles to the 3D case was extended. A 3D rotational failure mechanism was adopted to yield the upper bound of the factor of safety. Parametric studies were carried out to explore the end effects of the slope failures and the effects of the pile location and diameter on the safety of the reinforced slopes. The results demonstrate that the end effects nearly have no effects on the most suitable location of the installed piles but have significant influence on the safety of the slopes. For a slope constrained to a narrow width, the slope becomes more stable owing to the contribution of the end effects. When the slope is reinforced with a row of piles in small space between piles, the effects of group piles are significant for evaluating the safety of slopes. The presented method is more appropriate for assessing the stability of slopes reinforced with piles and can be also utilized in the design of plies stabilizing the unstable slopes. 展开更多

As a thermosetting resin with excellent properties, epoxy resin is used in many areas such as electronics, transportation, aerospace, and other fields. However, its relatively low thermal conductivity limits its wide application in more demanding fields. Here,a three-dimensional carbon(3DC)network was prepared through NaCl template-assisted in situ chemical vapor deposition(CVD)and used to reinforce epoxy resin for enhancing its thermal conductivity. The 3DC was prepared with a molar ratio of sodium atom to carbon atom of 100:20,and argon atmosphere in CVD led to an optimal improvement in the thermal conductivity of epoxy resin. The thermal conductivity of epoxy resin increased by 18%when the filling content was 3 wt.%of 3DC network because of the high contact area, uniform dispersion, and enhanced formation of conductive paths with epoxy resin. As the amount of 3DC addition increases, the thermal conductivity of composites also increases. As an innovative exploration, the work presented in this paper is of great significance for the thermal conductivity application of epoxy resin in the future. 展开更多

Particulate-reinforced metal matrix composites(PRMMCs)are difficult to machine due to the inclusion of hard, brittle reinforcing particles.Existing experimental investigations rarely reveal the complex material removal mechanisms(MRMs)involved in the machining of PRMMCs.This paper develops a three-dimensional(3D)microstructure-based model for investigating the MRM and surface integrity of machined PRMMCs.To accurately mimic the actual microstructure of a PRMMC,polyhedrons were randomly distributed inside the matrix to represent irregular SiC particles.Particle fracture and matrix deformation and failure were taken into account. For the model’s capability comparison,a two-dimensional(2D)analysis was also conducted.Relevant cutting experiments showed that the established 3D model accurately predicted the material removal, chip morphology, machined surface finish, and cutting forces. It was found that the matrix-particle-tool interactions led to particle fractures, mainly in the primary shear and secondary deformation zones along the cutting path and beneath the machined surface.Particle fracture and dilodegment greatly influences the quality of a machined surface. It was also found that although a 2D model can reflect certain material removal features, its ability to predict microstructural variation is limited. 展开更多

Characteristics andmullitization of the sol were analyzed throughly. It is found that the formation of mullite is basically completed at 1300℃ and thegel powders exhibit favorable sintering shrinkage. The 3D C/mullite composites without interfacial coating were fabricated throughthe route of vacuum impregnation-drying-heat treatment. Satisfied mechanical properties with a flexural strength of 241.2 MPa anda fracture toughness of 10.9 MPa·m1/2are obtained although the total porosity reaches 26.0%. Oxidation resistances of the compositesat 1200, 1400 and 1600 ℃ were investigated. Due to the further densification of matrix, the 3D C/mullite composites show tiny massloss and their mechanical properties are well retained after oxidation at 1600 ℃ for 30 min. 展开更多

To address the problem of multi-missile cooperative interception against maneuvering targets at a prespecified impact time and desired Line-of-Sight(LOS)angles in ThreeDimensional(3D)space,this paper proposes a 3D leader-following cooperative interception guidance law.First,in the LOS direction of the leader,an impact time-controlled guidance law is derived based on the fixed-time stability theory, which enables the leader to complete the interception task at a prespecified impact time.Next,in the LOS direction of the followers,by introducing a time consensus tracking error function,a fixed-time consensus tracking guidance law is investigated to guarantee the consensus tracking convergence of the time-to-go.Then,in the direction normal to the LOS,by combining the designed global integral sliding mode surface and the second-order Sliding Mode Control(SMC)theory,an innovative 3D LOS-angle-constrained interception guidance law is developed, which eliminates the reaching phase in the traditional sliding mode guidance laws and effectively saves energy consumption. Moreover,it effectively suppresses the chattering phenomenon while avoiding the singularity issue, and compensates for unknown interference caused by target maneuvering online, making it convenient for practical engineering applications. Finally, theoretical proof analysis and multiple sets of numerical simulation results verify the effectiveness, superiority, and robustness of the investigated guidance law. 展开更多

Three-dimensional(3D)urban structures play a critical role in informing climate mitigation strategies aimed at the built environment and facilitating sustainable urban development.Regrettably, there exists a significant gap in detailed and consistent data on 3D building space structures with global coverage due to the challenges inherent in the data collection and model calibration processes. In this study,we constructed a global urban structure(GUS-3D)dataset,including building volume, height, and footprint information,at a 500 m spatial resolution using extensive satellite observation products and numerous reference building samples. Our analysis indicated that the total volume of buildings worldwide in2015 exceeded 1×10^(12)m^(3).Over the 1985 to 2015 period,we observed a slight increase in the magnitude of 3D building volume growth(i.e.,it increased from 166.02 km3 during the 1985–2000 period to 175.08km3 during the 2000–2015 period),while the expansion magnitudes of the two-dimensional(2D)building footprint(22.51×10^(3) vs 13.29×10^(3)km^(2))and urban extent(157×10^(3) vs 133.8×10^(3)km^(2))notably decreased. This trend highlights the significant increase in intensive vertical utilization of urban land.Furthermore,we identified significant heterogeneity in building space provision and inequality across cities worldwide. This inequality is particularly pronounced in many populous Asian cities, which has been overlooked in previous studies on economic inequality. The GUS-3D dataset shows great potential to deepen our understanding of the urban environment and creates new horizons for numerous 3D urban studies. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Inguinal hernias are common after surgery.Tension-free repair is widely accepted as the main method for managing inguinal hernias.Adequate exposure, coverage, and repair of the myopectineal orifice(MPO)are necessary. However, due to differences in race and sex, people’s body shapes vary.According to European guidelines, the patch should measure 10 cm×15 cm.If any part of the MPO is dissected, injury to the nerves, vascular network,or organs may occur during surgery, thereby leading to inguinal discomfort, pain, and seroma formation after surgery. Therefore, accurate localization and measurement of the boundary of the MPO are crucial for selecting the optimal patch for inguinal hernia repair.AIM To compare the size of the MPO measured on three-dimensional multislice spiral computed tomography(CT)with that measured via laparoscopy and explore the relevant factors influencing the size of the MPO.METHODS Clinical data from 74 patients who underwent laparoscopic tension-free inguinal hernia repair at the General Surgery Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Science and Technology between September 2022 and July 2024 were collected and analyzed retrospectively.Transabdominal preperitoneal was performed.Sixty-four males and 10 females, with an average age of 58.30±12.32 years, were included. The clinical data of the patients were collected. The boundary of the MPO was measured on three-dimensional CT images before surgery and then again during transabdominal preperitoneal. All the preoperative and intraoperative data were analyzed via paired t-tests.A t-test was used for comparisons of age, body mass index, and sex between the groups. In the comparative analysis,a P value less than 0.05 indicated a significant difference.RESULTS The boundaries of the MPO on 3-dimensional CT images measured 7.05±0.47 cm and 6.27±0.61 cm,and the area of the MPO was 19.54±3.33 cm^(2).The boundaries of the MPO during surgery were 7.18±0.51 cm and 6.17±0.40 cm.The errors were not statistically significant. However, the intraoperative BD(the width of the MPO,P=0.024,P<0.05)and preoperative AC(the length of the MPO,P=0.045,P<0.05)significantly differed according to sex.The AC and BD measurements before and during surgery were not significantly different according to age, body mass index, hernia side or hernia type(P>0.05).CONCLUSION The application of this technology can aid in determining the most appropriate dissection range and patch size. 展开更多

This study investigates the flexural performance of ultra-high performance concrete(UHPC)in reinforced concrete T-beams,focusing on the effects of interfacial treatments.Three concrete T-beam specimens were fabricated and tested:a control beam(RC-T),a UHPC-reinforced beam with a chiseled interface(UN-C-50F),and a UHPC-reinforced beam featuring both a chiseled interface and anchored steel rebars(UN-CS-50F).The test results indicated that both chiseling and the incorporation of anchored rebars effectively created a synergistic combination between the concrete T-beam and the UHPC reinforcement layer, with the UN-CS-50F exhibiting the highest flexural resistance. The cracking load and ultimate load of UN-CS-50F were 221.5%and 40.8%,respectively,higher than those of the RC-T.Finite element(FE)models were developed to provide further insights into the behavior of the UHPCreinforced T-beams,showing a maximumdeviation of just 8%when validated against experimental data.A parametric analysis varied the height, thickness, andmaterial strength of the UHPC reinforcement layer based on the validated FE model, revealing that increasing the UHPC layer thickness from 30 to 50 mm improved the ultimate resistance by 20%while reducing the UHPC reinforcement height from 440 to 300 mm led to a 10%decrease in bending resistance. The interfacial anchoring rebars significantly reduced crack propagation and enhanced stress redistribution, highlighting the importance of strengthening interfacial bonds and optimizing geometric parameters ofUHPCfor improved T-beam performance. These findings offer valuable insights for the design and retrofitting of UHPC-reinforced bridge girders. 展开更多

To enhance the anti-corrosion performance of TC4 alloy across a wide temperature range for modern aircrafts operating in increasingly harsh environments, the (TiB+TiC) hybrid reinforced TC4 composites were prepared by laser melting deposition (LMD) via the in-situ reaction between B_(4)C reinforcement and molten TC4 alloy. The effect of B_(4)C content (0, 0.5, 1.5, wt%) on the microstructure and room/high-temperature corrosion behaviour of the composites was investigated. Microstructural analysis revealed that the microstructure of the composites was significantly influenced by the B_(4)C content. The composite containing 0.5 wt% B_(4)C exhibited an optimal microstructure characterized by refined grains, equiaxed α-Ti transformed from lath-shaped α-Ti, well-distributed (TiB+TiC) phases with a proper amount and reduced pore/dislocation defects. This composite also demonstrated the best corrosion resistance at both room temperature (25 ℃) and high temperature (800 ℃), which was primarily attributed to its comprehensive advantages including a favorable microstructure, a uniform dispersion of thermally stable (TiB+TiC) phases and a stable passivation film. 展开更多

To mitigate the challenges in managing the damage level of reinforced concrete(RC)pier columns subjected to cyclic reverse loading, this study conducted a series of cyclic reverse tests on RC pier columns.By analyzing the outcomes of destructive testing on various specimens and fine-tuning the results with the aid of the IMK(Ibarra Medina Krawinkler)recovery model, the energy dissipation capacity coefficient of the pier columns were able to be determined.Furthermore, utilizing the calibrated damage model parameters, the damage index for each specimen were calculated.Based on the obtained damage levels, three distinct pre-damage conditions were designed for the pier columns:minor damage, moderate damage, and severe damage. The study then predicted the variations in hysteresis curves and damage indices under cyclic loading conditions. The experimental findings reveal that the displacement at the top of the pier columns can serve as a reliable indicator for controlling the damage level of pier columns post-loading.Moreover,the calibrated damage index model exhibits proficiency in accurately predicting the damage level of RC pier columns under cyclic loading. 展开更多

The high-temperature mechanical behaviors of Multi-Layer Composite Panels(MCP)and Corrugated Sandwich Panels(CSP)of Continuous Glass Fiber-Reinforced Polypropylene(CGFRPP)are critical for their application in aerospace fields, which have been rarely mentioned in previous studies.High-temperature quasi-static tensile and compression tests on CGFRPP MCP are conducted first. The results showed that the tensile and compression strength, stiffness, and tensile modulus of MCP decreased with increasing temperature. The Gibson model was found to be more suitable for predicting the high-temperature mechanical performance of MCP after comparing the calculated results of different theoretical models with experimental data.Secondly, hightemperature planar compression tests were conducted on the CGFRPP CSP,revealing that the main failure modes were corrugated core buckling and delamination between the face panel and core material, with delamination being intensified at higher temperatures. Therefore,we proposed a strength theoretical model that considers structural buckling failure and interface delamination failure, and introduced the influence factor to evaluate the effect of interface delamination on structural strength. 展开更多

With the change of the main influencing factors such as structural configuration and impact conditions, reinforced concrete slabs exhibit different mechanical behaviors with different failure patterns, and the failure modes are transformed. In order to reveal the failure mode and transformation rule of reinforced concrete slabs under impact loads,a dynamic impact response test was carried out using a drop hammer test device. The dynamic data pertaining to the impact force, support reaction force, structural displacement, and reinforcement strain were obtained through the use of digital image correlation technology(DIC),impact force measurement, and strain measurement. The analysis of the ultimate damage state of the reinforced concrete slab identified four distinct types of impact failure modes:local failure by stamping, overall failure by stamping,local-overall coupling failure, and local failure by punching.Additionally, the influence laws of hammerhead shape, hammer height, and reinforcement ratio on the dynamic response and failure mode transformation of the slab were revealed. The results indicate that:(1)The local damage to the slab by the plane hammer is readily apparent, while the overall damage by the spherical hammer is more pronounced.(2)In comparison to the high reinforcement ratio slabs, the overall bending resistance of the low reinforcement ratio slabs is significantly inferior, and the slab back exhibits further cracks.(3)As the hammer height increases, the slab failure mode undergoes a transformation, shifting from local failure by stamping and overall failure by stamping to local-overall coupling failure and local failure by punching.(4)Three failure mode thresholds have been established, and by comparing the peak impact force with the failure thresholds, the failure mode of the slab can be effectively determined. 展开更多

It is of great importance to obtain precise trace data,as traces are frequently the sole visible and measurable parameter in most outcrops. The manual recognition and detection of traces on high-resolution three-dimensional(3D)models are relatively straightforward but time-consuming.One potential solution to enhance this process is to use machine learning algorithms to detect the 3D traces. In this study,a unique pixel-wise texture mapper algorithm generates a dense point cloud representation of an outcrop with the precise resolution of the original textured 3D model.A virtual digital image rendering was then employed to capture virtual images of selected regions. This technique helps to overcome limitations caused by the surface morphology of the rock mass, such as restricted access, lighting conditions, and shading effects. After AI-powered trace detection on two-dimensional(2D)images,a 3D data structuring technique was applied to the selected trace pixels. In the 3D data structuring, the trace data were structured through 2D thinning,3D reprojection, clustering, segmentation, and segment linking. Finally, the linked segments were exported as 3D polylines, with each polyline in the output corresponding to a trace. The efficacy of the proposed method was assessed using a 3D model of a real-world case study, which was used to compare the results of artificial intelligence(AI)-aided and human intelligence trace detection.Rosette diagrams, which visualize the distribution of trace orientations, confirmed the high similarity between the automatically and manually generated trace maps.In conclusion, the proposed semi-automatic method was easy to use, fast, and accurate in detecting the dominant jointing system of the rock mass. 展开更多

Currently, there are a limited number of dynamic models available for braided composite plates with large overall motions, despite the incorporation of three-dimensional(3D)braided composites into rotating blade components. In this paper,a dynamic model of 3D 4-directional braided composite thin plates considering braiding directions is established.Based on Kirchhoff's plate assumptions, the displacement variables of the plate are expressed.By incorporating the braiding directions into the constitutive equation of the braided composites, the dynamic model of the plate considering braiding directions is obtained. The effects of the speeds, braiding directions, and braided angles on the responses of the plate with fixed-axis rotation and translational motion, respectively, are investigated. This paper presents a dynamic theory for calculating the deformation of 3D braided composite structures undergoing both translational and rotational motions. It also provides a simulation method for investigating the dynamic behavior of non-isotropic material plates in various applications. 展开更多

Dopamine polymerization reaction and hydrothermal method were used to prepare nickel coated Al_(2)O_(3)reinforcement phase(Ni/Al_(2)O_(3)).Ni/Al_(2)O_(3)reinforced Sn_(1.0)Ag_(0.5)Cu(SAC105)composite solder was prepared using traditional casting method. The result shows that the nickel coating layer is continuous with uneven thickness. The interface between nickel and aluminum oxide exhibits a metallurgical bonding with coherent interface relationship. The strength, toughness and wettability of the SAC105 solder on the substrate are improved, while the conductivity is not decreased significantly. The fracture mode of composites transitions from a mixed toughness-brittleness mode to a purely toughness-dominated mode, characterized by many dimples. The prepared composite brazing material was made into solder paste for copper plate lap joint experiments. The maximum shear strength is achieved when the doping amount was 0.3wt%.The growth index of intermetallic compound at the brazing interface of Ni/Al_(2)O_(3)reinforced SAC105 composite solder is linearly fitted to n=0.39,demonstrating that the growth of intermetallic compound at the interface is a combined effect of grain boundary diffusion and bulk diffusion. 展开更多
