The electrical thermal analysis of the BTL cell and the blade heater contactor structure by three-dimensional finite element modeling are compared with each other during RESET operation. The simulation results show that the programming region of the phase change layer in the BTL cell is much smaller, and thermal electrical distributions of the BTL cell are more concentrated on the TiN/GST interface. The results indicate that the BTL cell has the superiorities of increasing the heating efficiency, decreasing the power consumption and reducing the RESET current from 0.67mA to 0.32mA. Therefore, the BTL cell will be appropriate for high performance PCRAM device with lower power consumption and lower RESET current.展开更多

The oil field presented is an East African oil field formed by a structural trap. Data analysis and transformations were conducted on the properties before simulation. The variogram was used to measure the spatial correlation of cell-based facies modeling, and porosity and permeability modeling. Two main lithologies were modelled using sequential indicator simulation, sand and shale. Sand had a percentage of 26.8% and shale of 73.2%. There was a clear property distribution trend of sand and shale from the southwest to the northeastern part of a reservoir. The distribution trend of the facies resembled the proposed depositional model of the reservoir. Simulations show that average porosity and permeability of the reservoir are about 20% and 1004 mD, respectively. Average water saturation was 64%. STOIIP volume of 689.42 MMbbls was calculated. The results of simulation showed that the south eastern part of the reservoir holds higher volumes of oil. In conclusion, the model gave a better geological understanding of the geology of the area and can be used for decision making about the future development of the reservoir, prediction performance and uncertainty analysis.展开更多

The 3D-SCALO problem is a challenging bilevel combinatorial optimization task, involving the optimization of discrete component assignment variables in the outer layer and continuous component position variables in the inner layer, with both influencing each other. To address this issue, first, a Mixed Integer Programming(MIP) model is proposed, which reformulates the original bilevel problem into a single-level optimization problem, enabling the exploration of a more comprehensive optimization space while avoiding iterative nested optimization. Then, to model the 3D geometric relationships between components within the MIP framework, a linearized 3D Phi-function method is proposed, which handles non-overlapping and safety distance constraints between cuboid components in an explicit and effective way. Subsequently, the Finite-Rectangle Method(FRM) is proposed to manage 3D geometric constraints for complex-shaped components by approximating them with a finite set of cuboids, extending the applicability of the geometric modeling approach. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed MIP model are demonstrated through two numerical examples"and a real-world engineering case, which confirms its suitability for complex-shaped components and real engineering applications.展开更多

In order to investigate the mechanisms of this flow, in this paper, a three-dimensional numerical model based on FVM (Finite Volume Method) is established, The RNG κ-ε model is selected for turbulence modeling. The time-averaged vohtme fraction equations are introduced to simulate the stratification and inteffaeial exchange of sewage and seawater in outfalls. Validity of the established three-dimensional numerical model is evaluated by comparisons of numerical results with experimental data. With this three-dimensional numerical model, the internal flow characteristics in ouffalls for different sewage discharges are simulated. The results indicate that for a low sewage discharge, saline circulates in the outfall due to intrusion and both the inflowing momentum and the inteffaeial turbulent mixing are important mechanisms to extrude the saline. For a high sewage discharge, saline intrusion could be avoided. The inflow momentum is the main mechanism to extrude the saline and the inteffacial turbulent mixing is nut important relatively. One-dimensional stretching is commonly used to measure changes in tensile stress and strain; however, the accuracy of this simple method is limited. There- fore, in the present study, we established three-dimensional finite element models of sciatic nerve defects repaired by autologous nerve grafts. Using PRO E 5.0 finite element simulation software, we calculated the maximum stress and displacement of an anastomosis under a 5 N load in 10-, 20-, 30-, 40-mm long autologous nerve grafts. We found that maximum displacement increased with graft length, consistent with specimen force. These findings indicate that three-dimensional finite element simulation is a feasible method for analyzing stress and displacement at the anas- tomosis after autologous nerve grafting.展开更多

The precision of most traditional microseismic monitoring processes of mines, using TDOA location method in two-dimensional space to position the microseismic events, as well as the accuracy of positioning microseismic events, may be reduced by the two-dimensional model and simple method, and ill-conditioned equations produced by TDOA location method will increase the positioning error. This article, based on inversion theory, studies the mathematical model of TDOA location method, polariza- tion analysis location method, and comprehensive difference location method of adding angle factor in the traditional TDOA location method. The feasibility of three methods is verified by numerical simulation and analysis of the positioning error of them. The results show that the comprehensive location method of adding angle difference has strong positioning stability and high positioning accuracy, and it may reduce the impact effectively about ill-conditioned equations to positioning results. Comprehensive location method with the data of actual measure may get better positioning results.展开更多

Novel models are made showing perforating arteries arising around the aneurysm. Information about perforating arteries is difficult to obtain from individual radiological data sets. Perforators are therefore reproduced based on previous anatomical knowledge instead of personal data. Due to their fragility, perforating arteries are attached to the model using hard materials. At the same time, hollow models are useful for practicing clip application. We made a model for practicing the application of fenestrated clips for paraclinoid internal carotid aneurysms. Situating aneurysm models in the fissure of a brain model simulates the real surgical field and is helpful for educational demonstrations.展开更多

A multi-disciplinary finite element method (FEM) framework and a empirical sub-model were built to analyze the affecting factors on weld nugget and the underlying nature of welding physics with dynamic simulation procedure. Specifically, a counter-intuitive phenomenon of the resistance time-variation caused by the transient inverse virtual variation (TIVV) effect was highlighted and analyzed on the basis of welding current and temperature distribution simulation. The empirical model describing the TIVV phenomenon was used for modifying the dynamic resistance simulation during the AA spot welding process. The numerical and experimental results show that the proposed multi-field FEM model agrees with the measured AA welding feature, and the modified dynamic resistance model captures the physics of nugget growth and the electrical-thermal behavior under varying welding current and fluctuating heat input.展开更多

文摘In the repair of peripheral nerve injury using autologous or synthetic nerve grafting, the mag- nitude of tensile forces at the anastomosis affects its response to physiological stress and the ultimate success of the treatment. These findings indicate that three-dimensional finite element simulation is a feasible method for analyzing stress and displacement at the anas- tomosis after autologous nerve grafting.
文摘The analysis of the characteristics of the cushion process of the pneumatic cushion cylinder is presented, and the nonlinear model of pneumatic cushion cylinders is built in the form of nonlinear differential equations. Besides, through the simulation of the pressure in the cushion chamber, the characteristics of the pneumatic cushion cylinder are obtained, which helps to understand the performance of the pneumatic cushion cylinder and improve or design the better cushion structure.
文摘The essential for microseismic monitoring is fast and accurate calculation of seismic wave source location. Comprehensive location method with the data of actual measure may get better positioning results.
文摘We modified a three-dimensional cerebral aneurysm model for surgical simulation and educational demonstration. Situating aneurysm models in the fissure of a brain model simulates the real surgical field and is helpful for educational demonstrations.

文摘Numerical simulation is the most powerful computational and analysis tool for a large variety of engineering and physical problems. For a complex problem relating to multi-field,multi-process and multi-scale,different computing tools have to be developed so as to solve particular fields at different scales and for different processes. Therefore, the integration of different types of software is inevitable. However,it is difficult to perform the transfer of the meshes and simulated results among software packages because of the lack of shared data formats or encrypted data formats. An image processing based method for three-dimensional model reconstruction for numerical simulation was proposed, which presents a solution to the integration problem by a series of slice or projection images obtained by the post-processing modules of the numerical simulation software.By means of mapping image pixels to meshes of either finite difference or finite element models, the geometry contour can be extracted to export the stereolithography model. The values of results, represented by color, can be deduced and assigned to the meshes. All the models with data can be directly or indirectly integrated into other software as a continued or new numerical simulation. The three-dimensional reconstruction method has been validated in numerical simulation of castings and case studies were provided in this study.
文摘This paper presents two approaches for system-level simulation of force-balance accelerometers. The derivation of the system-level model is elaborated and simulation results are obtained from the implementation of those strategies on the fabricated silicon force-balance MEMS accelerometer. The mathematical model presented is implemented in VHDL- AMS and SIMULINK TM,respectively. The simulation results from the two approaches are compared and show a slight difference. Using VHDL-AMS is flexible, reusable, and more accurate. But there is not a mature solver developed for the language and this approach takes more time, while the simulation model can be easily built and quickly evaluated using SIMULINK.

文摘In order to explore the influence of welding parameters and to investigate the Al alloy (AA) nugget formation process, a comprehensive model involving electrical-thermal-mechanical and metallurgical analysis was established to numerically display the resistance spot welding (RSW) process within multiple fields and understand the AA-RSW physics. The numerical and experimental results show that the proposed multi-field FEM model agrees with the measured AA welding feature, and the modified dynamic resistance model captures the physics of nugget growth and the electrical-thermal behavior under varying welding current and fluctuating heat input.
