The 3D-SCALO problem is a challenging bilevel combinatorial optimization task, involving the optimization of discrete component assignment variables in the outer layer and continuous component position variables in the inner layer, with both influencing each other. To address this issue, first, a Mixed Integer Programming(MIP) model is proposed, which reformulates the original bilevel problem into a single-level optimization problem, enabling the exploration of a more comprehensive optimization space while avoiding iterative nested optimization. Then, to model the 3D geometric relationships between components within the MIP framework, a linearized 3D Phi-function method is proposed, which handles non-overlapping and safety distance constraints between cuboid components in an explicit and effective way. Subsequently, the Finite-Rectangle Method(FRM) is proposed to manage 3D geometric constraints for complex-shaped components by approximating them with a finite set of cuboids, extending the applicability of the geometric modeling approach. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed MIP model are demonstrated through two numerical examples"and a real-world engineering case, which confirms its suitability for complex-shaped components and real engineering applications.展开更多

Using oblate spheroidal coordinates and displacement functions, an analytic method is devel- oped in which the opening and the sliding displacements on each crack surface are taken as the basic unknown functions. The basic unknown functions can be expanded in series of Legendre polynomials with unknown coefficients. Based on superposition technique, a set of governing equations for the unknown coefficients are formulated from the traction free conditions on each crack surface. The boundary collocation procedure and the average method for crack-surface tractions are used for solving the governing equations. The solution can be obtained for quite closely located cracks. Numerical examples are given for several crack problems. By comparing the present results with other existing results, one can conclude that the present method provides a direct and efficient approach to deal with three-dimensional solids containing multiple cracks.展开更多

Based on the assumption of potential flow, high-order curved elements were used to discretize the boundary integral equation and solve it. Assuming that gas inside the bubble follows the isentropic rule, the Euler-Lagrange method was used to trace the evolution of the bubble, and when calculating the singular integral, the singularity of the double-layer singular integral was eliminated by reconstructing a principal-value integral of double-layer potential so that a more precise result could be obtained. Elastic mesh technique (EMT) was also used when tracing the evolution of the bubble interface, and numerical smoothing wasn't needed. A comparison of calculations using this three-dimensional model with results of the Reyleigh-Plesset bubble model shows that the three-dimensional model and calculation method in this paper is practical. This three-dimensional model was applied to simulate the interaction of two bubbles under the action of gravity, and the dynamic characteristics of two bubbles near the surface was also analyzed. Bubbles influenced by surface effects and gravity present severe non-linearity. This paper provides a reference for research into the dynamics of multi-bubbles.展开更多

文摘Satellite Component Layout Optimization(SCLO) is crucial in satellite system design. This paper proposes a novel Satellite Three-Dimensional Component Assignment and Layout Optimization(3D-SCALO) problem tailored to engineering requirements, aiming to optimize satellite heat dissipation while considering constraints on static stability, 3D geometric relationships between components, and special component positions. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed MIP model are demonstrated through two numerical examples"and a real-world engineering case, which confirms its suitability for complex-shaped components and real engineering applications.
文摘Background:Traditional imaging approaches to keratoconus(KCN)have thus far failed to produce a standardized approach for diagnosis. While many diagnostic modalities and metrics exist, none have proven robust enough to be considered a gold standard. This study aims to introduce novel metrics to differentiate between KCN and healthy corneas using three-dimensional(3D)measurements of surface area and volume. Methods:This retrospective observational study examined KCN patients along with healthy control patients between the ages of 20 and 79 years old at the University of Maryland,Baltimore. The selected patients underwent a nine-line raster scan anterior segment optical coherence tomography(AS-OCT).ImageJ was used to determine the central 6 mm of each image and each corneal image was then divided into six 1 mm segments.Free-D software was then used to render the nine different images into a 3D model to calculate corneal surface area and volume.A two-tailed Mann-Whitney test was used to assess statistical significance when comparing these subsets.Results:Thirty-three eyes with KCN,along with 33 healthy control, were enrolled. There were statistically significant differences between the healthy and KCN groups in the metric of anterior corneal surface area(13.927 vs.13.991 mm^(2),P=0.046),posterior corneal surface area(14.045 vs.14.173 mm^(2),P<0.001),and volume(8.430 vs.7.773 mm3,P<0.001)within the central 6 mm.Conclusions:3D corneal models derived from AS-OCT can be used to measure anterior corneal surface area, posterior corneal surface area, and corneal volume. All three parameters are statistically different between corneas with KCN and healthy corneas.Further study and application of these parameters may yield new methodologies for the detection of KCN.

文摘The study of virus-host interactions has been significantly advanced using model organisms, with nematodes being a prominent example.Caenorhabditis elegans(C.elegans)nematodes have provided valuable insights into the mechanisms of viral infections, host defense strategies, and the development of antiviral therapies. With the discovery of natural viral pathogens of nematodes,Orsay virus,Le Blanc virus,Santeuil virus, and Mělník virus, the exploration of the virus-host interaction model based on nematodes has entered a new era.The virus-host interaction network consists of viruses, hosts, and the antagonistic effects of viruses on host immunity. The nematode virus-host interaction model is a concrete manifestation used to study the complex relationships among these three elements.Previous studies have indicated that during the entire process of nematode infection by viruses, antiviral RNA interference(RNAi)plays a crucial role.Additionally, the host’s innate immune responses, such as the antiviral-specific intracellular pathogen response(IPR)and certain signaling pathways homologous to those in humans, are particularly important in the natural immune and antiviral processes of nematodes. These processes are regulated by multiple genes in the host. The reverse genetics system for Orsay virus has been successfully developed to study viral gene function and virus-host interactions.Nematodes serve as simple host models for understanding RNA virus replication, related cellular components, and virus-host interaction mechanisms. These findings will likely contribute to the development of antiviral treatment strategies based on novel targets.
文摘Effective communication between nurses and patients is crucial for therapeutic interactions. It influences trust, patient satisfaction, adherence, and overall health outcomes.Various communication models have been developed over time to guide practice, incorporating fundamental concepts of therapeutic encounters;nevertheless, the majority are not designed for application in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The SAIDAR communication model is suggested to address this disparity. This review integrates elements of an integrative review with a critical review perspective to provide a narrative synthesis of theoretical and applied communication models derived from seminal works in the field of health communication.Using the CINAHL,Scopus, and Web of Science databases without date restrictions, the selected seminal authors were retrieved.Elicit,an artificial intelligence-driven research assistant, and the Google Scholar search engine were utilized together, and citation chaining facilitated the retrieval of relevant studies, which were analyzed using inductive dominant thematic analysis.Thirteen studies beneficial to the review question were included, and six themes were generated. These themes were salutation, assessing the environment, informing and explaining the task, doing, demonstrating, and performing the task;applauding, correcting, and appreciating, and reinforcing knowledge of the receiver of care. The critical analysis of these themes culminated in the formulation of the SAIDAR communication model. The current model integrates a structured communication framework that acknowledges the individuality of man and environmental assessment and demonstrates, appreciates, and reinforces knowledge. This model is an adaptable and acontextual communication tool suitable for various healthcare environments.

文摘Understanding microbial-host interactions in the oral cavity is essential for elucidating oral disease pathogenesis and its systemic implications. In vitro bacteria-host cell coculture models have enabled fundamental studies to characterize bacterial infection and host responses in a reductionist yet reproducible manner. However, existing in vitro coculture models fail to establish conditions that are suitable for the growth of both mammalian cells and anaerobes, thereby hindering a comprehensive understanding of their interactions. Here,we present an asymmetric gas coculture system that simulates the oral microenvironment by maintaining distinct normoxic and anaerobic conditions for gingival epithelial cells and anaerobic bacteria, respectively.Using a key oral pathobiont,Fusobacterium nucleatum,as the primary test bed,we demonstrate that the system preserves bacterial viability and supports the integrity of telomerase-immortalized gingival keratinocytes.Compared to conventional models, this system enhanced bacterial invasion, elevated intracellular bacterial loads, and elicited more robust host pro-inflammatory responses, including increased secretion of CXCL10,IL-6,and IL-8.In addition, the model enabled precise evaluation of antibiotic efficacy against intracellular pathogens. Finally,we validate the ability of the asymmetric system to support the proliferation of a more oxygen-sensitive oral pathobiont,Porphyromonas gingivalis. These results underscore the utility of this coculture platform for studying oral microbial pathogenesis and screening therapeutics, offering a physiologically relevant approach to advance oral and systemic health research.

文摘Currently, there are a limited number of dynamic models available for braided composite plates with large overall motions, despite the incorporation of three-dimensional(3D)braided composites into rotating blade components. In this paper,a dynamic model of 3D 4-directional braided composite thin plates considering braiding directions is established.Based on Kirchhoff's plate assumptions, the displacement variables of the plate are expressed.By incorporating the braiding directions into the constitutive equation of the braided composites, the dynamic model of the plate considering braiding directions is obtained. The effects of the speeds, braiding directions, and braided angles on the responses of the plate with fixed-axis rotation and translational motion, respectively, are investigated. This paper presents a dynamic theory for calculating the deformation of 3D braided composite structures undergoing both translational and rotational motions. It also provides a simulation method for investigating the dynamic behavior of non-isotropic material plates in various applications.

文摘The complex behaviors of expansive soils, particularly their volumetric changes driven by moisture variations, pose significant challenges in urban geotechnical engineering.Although vegetation-induced moisture changes are known to affect ground movement, quantitative characterization of tree–soil interactions remains limited due to insufficient field data and unclear relationships between tree water uptake and soil response. This study investigates the mechanical behavior of expansive clay soils influenced by two Lophostemon confertus samples during a 14-month field monitoring program in Melbourne,Australia. The research methodology integrates measurements of soil displacement, total soil suction, moisture content, and tree water consumption through instrumentation and monitoring systems.Field measurements suggest that tree roots reached the limits of their water extraction capacity when total soil suction exceeded 2880 kPa within the active root zone. The spatial extent of tree-induced soil desiccation reached 0.6–0.7 times the tree height laterally and penetrated to depths of 2.5–3.3 m vertically. The mature sample, with an 86%greater crown area and a threefold larger sapwood area, exhibited 142%higher water consumption(35 kL),demonstrating the scalability of tree–soil interaction mechanisms.A multiple linear regression model was developed to quantify the coupled relationships between soil movement and key variables, achieving a high adjusted R2 value of 0.97,which provides engineers and practitioners with a practical tool for estimating ground movement near trees. These findings offer valuable insights for infrastructure design in tree-adjacent environments and can inform computational models and design codes to enable more accurate site assessments and sustainable urban development.

文摘The development of digital twins for geotechnical structures necessitates the real-time updates of threedimensional(3D)virtual models(e.g.numerical finite element method(FEM)model)to accurately predict time-varying geotechnical responses(e.g.consolidation settlement)in a 3D spatial domain. However, traditional 3D numerical model updating approaches are computationally prohibitive and therefore difficult to update the 3D responses in real time.To address these challenges, this study proposes a novel machine learning framework called sparse dictionary learning(T-3D-SDL)for real-time updating of time-varying 3D geotechnical responses. In T-3D-SDL,a concerned dataset(e.g.time-varying 3D settlement)is approximated as a linear superposition of dictionary atoms generated from 3D random FEM analyses.Field monitoring data are then used to identify non-trivial atoms and estimate their weights within a Bayesian framework for model updating and prediction. The proposed approach enables the real-time update of temporally varying settlements with a high 3D spatial resolution and quantified uncertainty as field monitoring data evolve. The proposed approach is illustrated using an embankment construction project. The results show that the proposed approach effectively improves settlement predictions along temporal and 3D spatial dimensions, with minimal latency(e.g.within minutes),as monitoring data appear. In addition, the proposed approach requires only a reasonably small number of 3D FEM model evaluations, avoids the use of widely adopted yet often criticized surrogate models, and effectively addresses the limitations(e.g.computational inefficiency)of existing 3D model updating approaches.

文摘Video action recognition(VAR)aims to analyze dynamic behaviors in videos and achieve semantic understanding.VAR faces challenges such as temporal dynamics,action-scene coupling, and the complexity of human interactions.Existing methods can be categorized into motion-level,event-level,and story-level ones based on spatiotemporal granularity.However,single-modal approaches struggle to capture complex behavioral semantics and human factors. Therefore,in recent years,vision-language models(VLMs)have been introduced into this field, providing new research perspectives for VAR.In this paper,we systematically review spatiotemporal hierarchical methods in VAR and explore how the introduction of large models has advanced the field.Additionally,we propose the concept of“Factor”to identify and integrate key information from both visual and textual modalities, enhancing multimodal alignment. We also summarize various multimodal alignment methods and provide in-depth analysis and insights into future research directions.
文摘The interaction of arbitrarily distributed penny-shaped cracks in three-dimensional solids is analyzed in this paper. By comparing the present results with other existing results, one can conclude that the present method provides a direct and efficient approach to deal with three-dimensional solids containing multiple cracks.
文摘The interaction of two underwater explosion bubbles was mathematically analyzed in this paper. This paper provides a reference for research into the dynamics of multi-bubbles.

文摘Three-dimensional holographic vector of atomic interaction field(3D-HoVAIF) is used to describe the chemical structures of polychlorinated naphthalenes(PCNs).After variable screening by stepwise multiple regression(SMR) technique, the liner relationships between gas-chromatographic relative retention time(RRT),298 K supercooled liquid pressures(logPL),n-octanol/air partition coefficient(logKOA),n-octanol/water partition coefficient(logKOW),aqueous solubilities(logSW),relative in vitro potency values(-logEROD) of PCNs and 3D-HoVAIF descriptors have been established by partial least-square(PLS) regression. The result shows that the 3D-HoVAIF descriptors can be well used to express the quantitative structure-property(activity) relationships of PCNs.Predictive capability of the models has also been demonstrated by leave-one-out cross-validation.Moreover,the predicted values have been presented for those PCNs which are lack of experimentally physico-chemical properties and biological activity by the optimum models.

文摘Changes in the water cycle on the Tibetan Plateau(TP)have a significant impact on local agricultural production and livelihoods and its downstream regions.Against the background of widely reported warming and wetting, the hydrological cycle has accelerated and the likelihood of extreme weather events and natural disasters occurring(i.e.,snowstorms,floods,landslides,mudslides,and ice avalanches)has also intensified, especially in the highelevation mountainous regions. Thus,an accurate estimation of the intensity and variation of each component of the water cycle is an urgent scientific question for the assessment of plateau environmental changes.Following the transformation and movement of water between the atmosphere, biosphere and hydrosphere, the authors highlight the urgent need to strengthen the three-dimensional comprehensive observation system(including the eddy covariance system;planetary boundary layer tower;profile measurements of temperature, humidity, and wind by microwave radiometers, wind profiler, and radiosonde system;and cloud and precipitation radars)in the TP region and propose a practical implementation plan. The construction of such a three-dimensional observation system is expected to promote the study of environmental changes and natural hazards prevention.

文摘Understanding the pore water pressure distribution in unsaturated soil is crucial in predicting shallow landslides triggered by rainfall, mainly when dealing with different temporal patterns of rainfall intensity. However, the hydrological response of vegetated slopes, especially three-dimensional(3D)slopes covered with shrubs, under different rainfall patterns remains unclear and requires further investigation. To address this issue, this study adopts a novel 3D numerical model for simulating hydraulic interactions between the root system of the shrub and the surrounding soil.Three series of numerical parametric studies are conducted to investigate the influences of slope inclination, rainfall pattern and rainfall duration.Four rainfall patterns(advanced, bimodal, delayed, and uniform)and two rainfall durations(4-h intense and 168-h mild rainfall)are considered to study the hydrological response of the slope. The computed results show that 17%higher transpiration-induced suction is found for a steeper slope, which remains even after a short, intense rainfall with a 100-year return period. The extreme rainfalls with advanced(PA),bimodal(PB)and uniform(PU)rainfall patterns need to be considered for the short rainfall duration(4 h),while the delayed(PD)and uniform(PU)rainfall patterns are highly recommended for long rainfall durations(168 h).The presence of plants can improve slope stability markedly under extreme rainfall with a short duration(4 h).For the long duration(168 h),the benefit of the plant in preserving pore-water pressure(PWP)and slope stability may not be sufficient.
