Currently, there are a limited number of dynamic models available for braided composite plates with large overall motions, despite the incorporation of three-dimensional(3D)braided composites into rotating blade components. In this paper,a dynamic model of 3D 4-directional braided composite thin plates considering braiding directions is established.Based on Kirchhoff's plate assumptions, the displacement variables of the plate are expressed.By incorporating the braiding directions into the constitutive equation of the braided composites, the dynamic model of the plate considering braiding directions is obtained. The effects of the speeds, braiding directions, and braided angles on the responses of the plate with fixed-axis rotation and translational motion, respectively, are investigated. This paper presents a dynamic theory for calculating the deformation of 3D braided composite structures undergoing both translational and rotational motions. It also provides a simulation method for investigating the dynamic behavior of non-isotropic material plates in various applications. 展开更多

To comprehensively utilize the valuable geological map, exploration profile, borehole, and geochemical logging data and the knowledge on the formation of the Jinshan Ag-Au deposit for forecasting the exploration targets of concealed ore bodies,three-dimensional Mineral Prospectivity Modeling(MPM)of the deposit has been conducted using the weights-of-evidence(WofE)method.Conditional independence between evidence layers was tested, and the outline results using the prediction-volume(P-V)and Student's t-statistic methods for delineating favorable mineralization areas from continuous posterior probability map were critically compared.Four exploration targets delineated ultimately by the Student's t-statistic method for the discovery of minable ore bodies in each of the target areas were discussed in detail. The main conclusions include:(1)three-dimensional modeling of a deposit using multi-source reconnaissance data is useful for MPM in interpreting their relationships with known ore bodies;(2)WofE modeling can be used as a straightforward tool for integrating deposit model and reconnaissance data in MPM;(3)the Student's t-statistic method is more applicable in binarizing the continuous prospectivity map for exploration targeting than the PV approach;and(4)two target areas within high potential to find undiscovered ore bodies were diagnosed to guide future near-mine exploration activities of the Jinshan deposit. 展开更多

The rapid development of evolutionary deep learning has led to the emergence of various Neural Architecture Search(NAS)algorithms designed to optimize neural network structures. However, these algorithms often face significant computational costs due to the time-consuming process of training neural networks and evaluating their performance.Traditional NAS approaches, which rely on exhaustive evaluations and large training datasets, are inefficient for solving complex image classification tasks within limited time frames. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a novel NAS algorithm that integrates a hierarchical evaluation strategy based on Surrogate models, specifically using supernet to pre-trainweights and randomforests as performance predictors. This hierarchical framework combines rapid Surrogate model evaluations with traditional, precise evaluations to balance the trade-off between performance accuracy and computational efficiency. The algorithm significantly reduces the time required for model evaluation by predicting the fitness of candidate architectures using a random forest Surrogate model, thus alleviating the need for full training cycles for each architecture. The proposed method also incorporates evolutionary operations such as mutation and crossover to refine the search process and improve the accuracy of the resulting architectures.Experimental evaluations on the CIFAR-10 and CIFAR-100 datasets demonstrate that the proposed hierarchical evaluation strategy reduces the search time and costs compared to traditional methods, while achieving comparable or even superior model performance. The results suggest that this approach can efficiently handle resourceconstrained tasks, providing a promising solution for accelerating the NAS process without compromising the quality of the generated architectures. 展开更多

Satellite Component Layout Optimization(SCLO) is crucial in satellite system design. This paper proposes a novel Satellite Three-Dimensional Component Assignment and Layout Optimization(3D-SCALO) problem tailored to engineering requirements, aiming to optimize satellite heat dissipation while considering constraints on static stability, 3D geometric relationships between components, and special component positions. The 3D-SCALO problem is a challenging bilevel combinatorial optimization task, involving the optimization of discrete component assignment variables in the outer layer and continuous component position variables in the inner layer, with both influencing each other. To address this issue, first, a Mixed Integer Programming(MIP) model is proposed, which reformulates the original bilevel problem into a single-level optimization problem, enabling the exploration of a more comprehensive optimization space while avoiding iterative nested optimization. Then, to model the 3D geometric relationships between components within the MIP framework, a linearized 3D Phi-function method is proposed, which handles non-overlapping and safety distance constraints between cuboid components in an explicit and effective way. Subsequently, the Finite-Rectangle Method(FRM) is proposed to manage 3D geometric constraints for complex-shaped components by approximating them with a finite set of cuboids, extending the applicability of the geometric modeling approach. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed MIP model are demonstrated through two numerical examples"and a real-world engineering case, which confirms its suitability for complex-shaped components and real engineering applications. 展开更多

Background:Traditional imaging approaches to keratoconus(KCN)have thus far failed to produce a standardized approach for diagnosis. While many diagnostic modalities and metrics exist, none have proven robust enough to be considered a gold standard. This study aims to introduce novel metrics to differentiate between KCN and healthy corneas using three-dimensional(3D)measurements of surface area and volume. Methods:This retrospective observational study examined KCN patients along with healthy control patients between the ages of 20 and 79 years old at the University of Maryland,Baltimore. The selected patients underwent a nine-line raster scan anterior segment optical coherence tomography(AS-OCT).ImageJ was used to determine the central 6 mm of each image and each corneal image was then divided into six 1 mm segments.Free-D software was then used to render the nine different images into a 3D model to calculate corneal surface area and volume.A two-tailed Mann-Whitney test was used to assess statistical significance when comparing these subsets.Results:Thirty-three eyes with KCN,along with 33 healthy control, were enrolled. There were statistically significant differences between the healthy and KCN groups in the metric of anterior corneal surface area(13.927 vs.13.991 mm^(2),P=0.046),posterior corneal surface area(14.045 vs.14.173 mm^(2),P<0.001),and volume(8.430 vs.7.773 mm3,P<0.001)within the central 6 mm.Conclusions:3D corneal models derived from AS-OCT can be used to measure anterior corneal surface area, posterior corneal surface area, and corneal volume. All three parameters are statistically different between corneas with KCN and healthy corneas.Further study and application of these parameters may yield new methodologies for the detection of KCN. 展开更多

The development of digital twins for geotechnical structures necessitates the real-time updates of threedimensional(3D)virtual models(e.g.numerical finite element method(FEM)model)to accurately predict time-varying geotechnical responses(e.g.consolidation settlement)in a 3D spatial domain. However, traditional 3D numerical model updating approaches are computationally prohibitive and therefore difficult to update the 3D responses in real time.To address these challenges, this study proposes a novel machine learning framework called sparse dictionary learning(T-3D-SDL)for real-time updating of time-varying 3D geotechnical responses. In T-3D-SDL,a concerned dataset(e.g.time-varying 3D settlement)is approximated as a linear superposition of dictionary atoms generated from 3D random FEM analyses.Field monitoring data are then used to identify non-trivial atoms and estimate their weights within a Bayesian framework for model updating and prediction. The proposed approach enables the real-time update of temporally varying settlements with a high 3D spatial resolution and quantified uncertainty as field monitoring data evolve. The proposed approach is illustrated using an embankment construction project. The results show that the proposed approach effectively improves settlement predictions along temporal and 3D spatial dimensions, with minimal latency(e.g.within minutes),as monitoring data appear. In addition, the proposed approach requires only a reasonably small number of 3D FEM model evaluations, avoids the use of widely adopted yet often criticized surrogate models, and effectively addresses the limitations(e.g.computational inefficiency)of existing 3D model updating approaches. 展开更多

The purpose of this study was to show the benefit of visualizing a tree-dimensional (3D) image of the tongue’s muscle structure, which until now has been regarded as fully understood. Until now, no suitable 3D observation methods have been developed for soft tissue, such as the tongue, using?histological magnification. For this purpose, this study used a micro-computed tomographic method (micro-CT) and image processing after the fixation, decalcification, and dehydration of a mouse tongue. Results: 3D rendered images of tongue muscles obtained by micro-CT showed every muscle and their relationships to each other. The superior longitudinal and the hyoglossus muscles of the tongue made up one group, while the inferior longitudinal and the styloglossus muscles of the tongue made up another. The boundary of the two muscles in each group was difficult to distinguish. On the other hand, what appear to be newly described muscles were identified. These results indicate that our micro-CT method is beneficial and that classical knowledge of tongue muscles derived from two-dimensional (2D) images does not fully describe the actual complexity of the tongue muscles. In our opinion, 3D rendered images mixed with raw structure can provide a more in-depth picture of the tongue from an integrated as well as an analytical perspective. 展开更多

Background: The suitability of micro-computed tomography (CT) for soft tissue applications has been well documented. Although the application of micro-CT to the three dimensional (3D) structure of the tongue muscle has been reported, a 3D rendering and/or a schematic view of the tongue muscle has yet to be published. Material and Method: First, muse tongues were fixed and decalcified, and then the vertical muscle (Ve), the transverse muscle (Tr), and/or the genioglossus muscle of the mouse tongue (Ge) were analyzed using micro-CT and are shown in this report in rendered images and pattern diagrams. Results: 1) The Tr is classified into three parts: the first part extends from the middle to the apical part of the tongue;the second part is strongly connected to the superior longitudinal muscles of the tongue (Lo);the third part fans out from the middle to the root of the tongue. 2) The Ve is classified into two main groups: the first group joins the dorsal and the lateral parts of the tongue;the second group joins the dorsal part and the floor of the tongue. 3) Ge is classified into four parts: three parts comprise the Ge apical and middle parts of the tongue, with one part in the inferior longitudinal muscles of the tongue, one joining the lingual septum of the tongue (LS), and the other joining the sub-surface of the dorsal part of the Lo. The remaining Ge exits in a fan-like manner through the root of the tongue and then joins the Tr. 展开更多

A new three-dimensional semi-implicit finite-volume ocean model has been developed for simulating the coastal ocean circulation, which is based on the staggered C-unstructured non-orthogonal grid in the hor- izontal direction and z-level grid in the vertical direction. The three-dimensional model is discretized by the semi-implicit finite-volume method, in that the free-surface and the vertical diffusion are semi-implicit, thereby removing stability limitations associated with the surface gravity wave and vertical diffusion terms. The remaining terms in the momentum equations are discretized explicitly by an integral method. The partial cell method is used for resolving topography, which enables the model to better represent irregular topography. The model has been tested against analytical cases for wind and tidal oscillation circulation, and is applied to simulating the tidal flow in the Bohal Sea. The results are in good agreement both with the analytical solutions and measurement results. 展开更多

In order to solve the problem that the ripple-effect analy- sis for the operational architecture of air defense systems (OAADS) is hardly described in quantity with previous modeling approaches, a supernetwork modeling approach for the OAADS is put for- ward by extending granular computing. Based on that operational units and links are equal to different information granularities, the supernetwork framework of the OAADS is constructed as a “four- network within two-layer” structure by forming dynamic operating coalitions, and measuring indexes of the ripple-effect analysis for the OAADS are given combining with Laplace spectral radius. In this framework, via analyzing multidimensional attributes which inherit relations between operational units in different granular scales, an extended granular computing is put forward integrating with a topological structure. Then the operation process within the supernetwork framework, including transformation relations be- tween two layers in the vertical view and mapping relations among functional networks in the horizontal view, is studied in quantity. As the application case shows, comparing with previous modeling approaches, the supernetwork model can validate and analyze the operation mechanism in the air defense architecture, and the ripple-effect analysis can be used to confirm the key operational unit with micro and macro viewpoints. 展开更多

In gravity-anomaly-based prospecting, the computational and memory requirements for practical numerical modeling are potentially enormous. Achieving an efficient and precise inversion for gravity anomaly imaging over large-scale and complex terrain requires additional methods. To this end, we have proposed a new topography-capable By performing a two-dimensional Fourier transform in the horizontal directions, threedimensional partial differential equations in the spatial domain were transformed into a group of independent, one-dimensional differential equations engaged with different wave numbers. These independent differential equations are highly parallel across different wave numbers. differential equations with different wave numbers, and the efficiency of solving fixedbandwidth linear equations was further improved by a chasing method. In a synthetic test, a prism model was used to verify the accuracy and reliability of the proposed algorithm by comparing the numerical solution with the analytical solution. We studied the computational precision and efficiency with and without topography using different Fourier transform methods. The turbulence mechanism plays an important part in the mixing process and momentum transfer of turbulence. A three-dimensional Prandtl mixing length tidal model has been developed to simulate tidal flows and water quality. The eddy viscosities and diffusivities are computed from the Prandtl mixing length model. In order to model the water quality of an estuary or coastal area many interdependent processes need to be simulated. These may be conveniently separated into three main groups: transport and mixing processes, biochemical interaction of water quality variables and the utilization and re-cycling of nutrients by living matter. The model simulates full oxygen and nutrient balance, primary productivity and the transport, reaction mechanism and fate of pollutants over tidal time-scales. The model is applied to numerical simulation of tidal flows and water quality in Dalian Bay. The model has been calibrated against a limited data set of historical water quality observations and in general demonstrates excellent agreement with all available data. 展开更多

In this paper,a novel method of ultra-lightweight convolution neural network(CNN)design based on neural architecture search(NAS)and knowledge distillation(KD)is proposed. It can realize the automatic construction of the space target inverse synthetic aperture radar(ISAR)image recognition model with ultra-lightweight and high accuracy. This method introduces the NAS method into the radar image recognition for the first time, which solves the time-consuming and labor-consuming problems in the artificial design of the space target ISAR image automatic recognition model(STIIARM).On this basis, the NAS model’s knowledge is transferred to the student model with lower computational complexity by the flow of the solution procedure(FSP)distillation method. Thus, the decline of recognition accuracy caused by the direct compression of model structural parameters can be effectively avoided, and the ultralightweight STIIARM can be obtained. In the method, the Inverted Linear Bottleneck(ILB)and Inverted Residual Block(IRB)are firstly taken as each block’s basic structure in CNN.And the expansion ratio, output filter size, number of IRBs,and convolution kernel size are set as the search parameters to construct a hierarchical decomposition search space. Then, the recognition accuracy and computational complexity are taken as the objective function and constraint conditions, respectively, and the global optimization model of the CNN architecture search is established.Next, the simulated annealing(SA)algorithm is used as the search strategy to search out the lightweight and high accuracy STIIARM directly. After that, based on the three principles of similar block structure, the same corresponding channel number, and the minimum computational complexity, the more lightweight student model is designed, and the FSP matrix pairing between the NAS model and student model is completed. Finally,by minimizing the loss between the FSP matrix pairs of the NAS model and student model, the student model’s weight adjustment is completed. Thus the ultra-lightweight and high accuracy STIIARM is obtained. The proposed method’s effectiveness is verified by the simulation experiments on the ISAR image dataset of five types of space targets. 展开更多
