A 3D rotational failure mechanism was adopted to yield the upper bound of the factor of safety. Parametric studies were carried out to explore the end effects of the slope failures and the effects of the pile location and diameter on the safety of the reinforced slopes. The results demonstrate that the end effects nearly have no effects on the most suitable location of the installed piles but have significant influence on the safety of the slopes. For a slope constrained to a narrow width, the slope becomes more stable owing to the contribution of the end effects. When the slope is reinforced with a row of piles in small space between piles, the effects of group piles are significant for evaluating the safety of slopes. The presented method is more appropriate for assessing the stability of slopes reinforced with piles and can be also utilized in the design of plies stabilizing the unstable slopes.展开更多

The original DDA formulation utilizes a linear displacement function to describe the block movement and deformation, which would cause block expansion under rigid body rotation and thus limit its capability to model block de- formation. In this paper, 3D DDA is coupled with tetrahe- dron finite elements to tackle these two problems. Tetrahe- dron is the simplest in the 3D domain and makes it easy to implement automatic discretization, even for complex topol- ogy shape. Furthermore, element faces will remain planar and element edges will remain straight after deformation for tetrahedron finite elements and polyhedral contact detection schemes can be used directly. The matrices of equilibrium equations for this coupled method are given in detail and an effective contact searching algorithm is suggested. Valida- tion is conducted by comparing the results of the proposed coupled method with that of physical model tests using one of the most common failure modes, i.e., wedge failure. Most of the failure modes predicted by the coupled method agree with the physical model results except for 4 cases out of the total 65 cases. Finally, a complex rockslide example demon- strates the robustness and versatility of the coupled method.展开更多

According to the virtual work principle, the difference theorem and the variation method, the collapse surface of double-layer rock mass is determined based on the Hoek-Brown failure criterion. The formula can be degenerated to a single-layer rock collapsing problem when the rock mass is homogeneous. To estimate the validity of the result, the numerical simulation software PLAXIS 3D is used to simulate the collapse of shallow tunnels with double-layer rock mass, and the comparative analysis shows that numerical results are in good agreement with upper-bound solutions. According to the results of parametric analysis, the potential range of collapse of a double-layer rock mass above a shallow cavity decreases with a decrease in A1/A2,σci1/σci2 and σtm1/σtm2 and an increase in B1/B2,γ1/γ2. The range will decrease with a decrease in support pressure q and increase with a decrease in surface overload σs. Therefore, reinforced supporting is beneficial to improve the stability of the cavity during actual construction.展开更多

文摘In this paper,a composite numerical scheme is proposed to solve the threedimensional Darcy-Forchheimer miscible displacement problem with positive semi-definite assumptions.A mixed finite element is used for the fow equation. The velocity and pressure are computed simultaneously. The accuracy of velocity is improved one order. The concentration equation is solved by using mixed finite element,multi-step difference and upwind approximation.A multi-step method is used to approximate time derivative for improving the accuracy. The upwind approximation and an expanded mixed finite element are adopted to solve the convection and diffusion, respectively. The composite method could compute the diffusion flux and its gradient. It possibly becomes an eficient tool for solving convection-dominated diffusion problems.Firstly, the conservation of mass holds.Secondly, the multi-step method has high accuracy.Thirdly, the upwind approximation could avoid numerical dispersion.Using numerical analysis of a priori estimates and special techniques of differential equations,we give an error estimates for a positive definite problem.Numerical experiments illustrate its computational efficiency and feasibility of application.

文摘Solid oxide fuel cell(SOFC)is a promising power generation technology with high efficiency and can operate with a wide range of fuels.Although H2 delivery and storage are still hurdles, natural gas is readily accessible through existing pipeline infrastructure and therefore stands as a viable fuel candidate for SOFC.Owing to the high operating temperature, the methane in natural gas can be directly reformed in the anode of an SOFC.However, mechanical failure remains a critical issue and hinders the prevalence of traditional planar SOFCs.A novel flat-tubular structure with symmetrical double-sided cathodes was previously proposed to improve mechanical durability. In this work, the performance of a methane-fueled SOFC with symmetrical double-sided cathodes is analyzed with a numerical multiphysics model. The distributions of different physical fields in the SOFC are investigated.Special attention is paid to stress analysis, which is closely related to the mechanical stability of an SOFC.Furthermore, the CH_(4)-fueled and H_(2)-fueled SOFCs are also compared in terms of the distribution of thermal stress.A lower first principal stress is observed for CH_(4)-fueled flat-tubular SOFC,demonstrating a reduced probability of mechanical failures and potentially extended lifespan.

文摘Three-dimensional printing(3DP)offers valuable insight into the characterization of natural rocks and the verification of theoretical models due to its high reproducibility and accurate replication of complex defects such as cracks and pores. In this study,3DP gypsum samples with different printing directions were subjected to a series of uniaxial compression tests with in situ micro-computed tomography(micro-CT)scanning to quantitatively investigate their mechanical anisotropic properties and damage evolution characteristics.Based on the two-dimensional(2D)CT images obtained at different scanning steps,a novel void ratio variable was derived using the mean value and variance of CT intensity.Additionally,a constitutive model was formulated incorporating the proposed damage variable, utilizing the void ratio variable. The crack evolution and crack morphology of 3DP gypsum samples were obtained and analyzed using the 3D models reconstructed from the CT images. The results indicate that 3DP gypsum samples exhibit mechanical anisotropic characteristics similar to those found in naturally sedimentary rocks. The mechanical anisotropy is attributed to the bedding planes formed between adjacent layers and pillar-like structures along the printing direction formed by CaSO_(4)·2H_(2)O crystals of needle-like morphology. The mean gray intensity of the voids has a positive linear relationship with the threshold value, while the CT variance and void ratio have concave and convex relationships, respectively. The constitutive model can effectively match the stress–strain curves obtained from uniaxial compression experiments. This study provides comprehensive explanations of the failure modes and anisotropic mechanisms of 3DP gypsum samples, which is important for characterizing and understanding the failure mechanism and microstructural evolution of 3DP rocks when modeling natural rock behavior.

文摘This research aims to propose a practical framework designed for the automatic analysis of a product’s comprehensive functionality and security vulnerabilities, generating applicable guidelines based on real-world software. The existing analysis of software security vulnerabilities often focuses on specific features or modules. This partial and arbitrary analysis of the security vulnerabilities makes it challenging to comprehend the overall security vulnerabilities of the software. The key novelty lies in overcoming the constraints of partial approaches. The proposed framework utilizes data from various sources to create a comprehensive functionality profile, facilitating the derivation of real-world security guidelines.Security guidelines are dynamically generated by associating functional security vulnerabilities with the latest Common Vulnerabilities and Exposure(CVE)and Common Vulnerability Scoring System(CVSS)scores, resulting in automated guidelines tailored to each product. These guidelines are not only practical but also applicable in real-world software, allowing for prioritized security responses. The proposed framework is applied to virtual private network(VPN)software, wherein a validated Level 2 data flow diagram is generated using the Spoofing,Tampering,Repudiation,Information Disclosure,Denial of Service, and Elevation of privilege(STRIDE)technique with references to various papers and examples from related software. The analysis resulted in the identification of a total of 121 vulnerabilities. The successful implementation and validation demonstrate the framework’s efficacy in generating customized guidelines for entire systems, subsystems, and selected modules.

文摘This article presents a micro-structure tensor enhanced elasto-plastic finite element(FE)method to address strength anisotropy in three-dimensional(3D)soil slope stability analysis. The gravity increase method(GIM)is employed to analyze the stability of 3D anisotropic soil slopes. The accuracy of the proposed method is first verified against the data in the literature. We then simulate the 3D soil slope with a straight slope surface and the convex and concave slope surfaces with a 90turning corner to study the 3D effect on slope stability and the failure mechanism under anisotropy conditions.Based on our numerical results, the end effect significantly impacts the failure mechanism and safety factor.Anisotropy degree notably affects the safety factor, with higher degrees leading to deeper landslides. For concave slopes, they can be approximated by straight slopes with suitable boundary conditions to assess their stability.Furthermore,a case study of the Saint-Alban test embankment A in Quebec,Canada,is provided to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed FE model.

文摘Based on the upper bound of limit analysis, the plane-strain analysis of the slopes reinforced with a row of piles to the 3D case was extended. The presented method is more appropriate for assessing the stability of slopes reinforced with piles and can be also utilized in the design of plies stabilizing the unstable slopes.
文摘A three-dimensional finite element simulation was carried out to investigate the effects of tunnel construction on nearby pile foundation. The displacement controlled model (DCM) was used to simulate the tunneling-induced volume loss effects. The numerical model was verified based on the results of a centrifuge test and a set of parametric studies was implemented based on this model. There is good agreement between the trend of the results of the centrifuge test and the present model. The results of parametric studies show that the tunnelling-induced pile internal force and deformation depend mainly on the pile?tunnel distance, the pile length to tunnel depth ratio and the volume loss. Two different zones are separated by a 45° line projected from the tunnel springline.Within the zone of influence, the pile is subjected to tensile force and large settlement;whereas outside the zone of influence, dragload and small settlement are induced. It is also established that the impact of tunnelling on a pile group is substantially smaller as compared with a single pile in the same location with the rear pile in a group, demonstrating a positive pile group effect.

文摘In the last decade, three dimensional discontin- uous deformation analyses (3D DDA) has attracted more and more attention of researchers and geotechnical engineers worldwide. Finally, a complex rockslide example demon- strates the robustness and versatility of the coupled method.

文摘Simulated photo-degradation of fluorescent dissolved organic matter(FDOM) in Lake Baihua(BH) and Lake Hongfeng(HF) was investigated with three-dimensional excitationemission matrix(3 DEEM) fluorescence combined with the fluorescence regional integration(FRI),parallel factor(PARAFAC) analysis, and multi-order kinetic models. In the FRI analysis,fulvic-like and humic-like materials were the main constituents for both BH-FDOM and HF-FDOM.Four individual components were identified by use of PARAFAC analysis as humic-like components(C1),fulvic-like components(C2),protein-like components(C3) and unidentified components(C4).The maximum 3 DEEM fluorescence intensity of PARAFAC components C1-C3 decreased by about 60%,70% and 90%,respectively after photo-degradation.The multi-order kinetic model was acceptable to represent the photo-degradation of FDOM with correlation coefficient(Radj2)(0.963-0.998).The photo-degradation rate constants(kn) showed differences of three orders of magnitude, from 1.09 × 10-6 to 4.02 × 10-4 min-1,and half-life of multi-order model(T1/2n)ranged from 5.26 to 64.01 min.The decreased values of fluorescence index(FI) and biogenic index(BI),the fact that of percent fluorescence response parameter of Region I(PⅠ,n) showed the greatest change ratio, followed by percent fluorescence response parameter of Region II(PⅡ,n,while the largest decrease ratio was found for C3 components, and the lowest T1/2n was observed for C3,indicated preferential degradation of protein-like materials/components derived from biological sources during photodegradation. This research on the degradation of FDOM by 3 DEEM/FRI-PARAFAC would be beneficial to understanding the photo-degradation of FD OM in natural environments and accurately predicting the environmental behaviors of contaminants in the presence of FDOM.

文摘A three-dimensional analysis of a simply-supported functionally graded rectangular plate with an arbitrary distribution of material properties is made using a simple and effective method based on the Haar wavelet. With good features in treating singularities, Haar series solution converges rapidly for arbitrary distributions, especially for the case where the material properties change rapidly in some regions. Through numerical examples the influences of the ratio of material constants on the top and bottom surfaces and different material gradient distributions on the structural response of the plate to mechanical stimuli are studied.

文摘A novel Ni(II) coordination polymer [Ni(dtba)(4,4′-bpy)] (1, H2dtba = 2,2′-dithio- bisbenzoic acid, 4,4′-bpy = 4,4′-bipyridine) has been synthesized by H2dtba and Ni(CH3COO)2·4H2O with exo-bidentate rigid ligand 4,4′-bpy by using hydrothermal method, and its structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. X-ray crystal structure analysis reveals that complex 1 crystallizes in monoclinic, space group Cc with a = 11.7624(9), b = 18.7933(19), c = 10.3071(11), β = 97.6510(10)°, V = 2258.2(4)3, Z = 4, C24H16N2NiO4S2, Mr = 519.22, Dc = 1.527 g/cm3, μ = 1.079 mm-1 and F(000) = 1064. The structure was solved by direct methods and refined to R = 0.0434 and wR = 0.1000 for 3281 observed reflections (I 〉 2σ(I)). The coordination environment of Ni(II) is a distorted octahedron, and a three-dimensional structure was formed with the coordination effect of dtba2- and 4,4′-bpy ligands. The topological analysis reveals that the whole framework of 1 is a 2-nodal net of (52.6)(53.64.72.8) topology. The thermal stability and XRD pattern of 1 were also investigated

文摘A three-dimensional analysis model based on the finite element method (FEM) is developed, which can derive the evolution and distribution characteristics of heat flux deposited on the divertor plate from the surface temperature measured by infrared thermography diagnostics. The numerical simulations of surface heating due to localized power bursts and the power deposition calculations demonstrate that this analysis can provide accurate results and useful information about localized hot spots compared with the normal one- and two-dimensional calculations. In this paper, the details of this three- dimensional analysis are presented, and some results in ohmic heating and electron cyclotron resonant heating (ECRH) discharge on HL-2A are given.

文摘In the framework of upper bound theorem of limit analysis, the progressive collapse of shallow rectangular tunnels with double-layer rock mass has been theoretically analyzed based on the three-dimensional (3D) velocity discontinuity surfaces. Therefore, reinforced supporting is beneficial to improve the stability of the cavity during actual construction.

文摘Using bathymetry and altimetric gravity anomalies, a 1°×9 1° lithospheric effective elastic thickness(Te) model over the Louisville Ridge and its adjacent regions is calculated using the moving window admittance technique. For comparison, three bathymetry models are used: general bathymetric charts of the oceans, SIO V15.1,and BAT_VGG. The results show that BAT_VGG is more suitable for calculating T e than the other two models. T e along the Louisville Ridge was re-evaluated. The southeast of the ridge has a medium Te of 10–20 km, while Te increases dramatically seaward of the Tonga-Kermadec trench as a result of the collision of the Pacific and IndoAustralian plates.
