The recent years have witnessed increasing opportunities for people from various cultural backgrounds to communicate with each other, which is naturally based on a general grasp of cultural knowledge and communicative techniques in cross-cultural settings. However, there often exist cultural clashes in such cases, especially between Chinese and English speaking people, which are deeply rooted in the wide differences in their languages and thinking modes. Indeed, this also serves to be an important part in the acquisition of the English culture for Chinese students in the current educational climate. The paper is intended to provide a contrastive analysis of the major cultural differences between Chinese and English speaking people in their thinking modes in three aspects of the descriptive versus the formal, the concrete versus the abstract, and the practical versus the logical form the linguistic perspective. And the paper comes to the conclusion that a general understanding of these significant differences may enable Chinese-speaking people and English-speaking people to establish a more efficient communication with each other. 展开更多

As a tool for human communication, the use of language is affected by the way of thinking in cross-cultural communication.Due to the differences between Chinese and Western cultures, the way of thinking varies under the influence of such cultural differences. In the process of translation, the influence of the different thinking mode on translation activities cannot be ignored. At present,a lot of studies and researches have focused on the influence of Chinese and Western thinking mode on translation. However,it is still worthwhile to study what specific influence the difference between Chinese and Western thinking mode will exert on the translation process of science texts and what kind of measure should be taken to solve the negative influence brought by the differences when we are translating. This paper aims to discuss the influence of thinking differences between Chinese and Western countries on the process of English-Chinese translation of science and technology from the perspectives of long sentences, passive voice and nominalization, and how the translators should appropriately adjust their thinking pattern and use reasonable skills to eliminate the potential negative interference caused by the difference and achieve a better transformation between English and Chinese. 展开更多

Creativity is designative for the mankind, distinguishing it among the other species.Everyone is born with the affinity to speculate the perceived reality—overlaying it by his own imagination, inventing a playful use for the encountered items and refreshing extant ideas by new approaches, creating new mental outcome. The perceived world is not enough for the human mind, which challenges the given reality, animated by the need for questing and creatively exploring beyond it.As a result, the history of humanity is a history of realized inventions and different visions. If the creativity is an organic part of the human nature, why are so few mature people creative? 展开更多

As the outcome of the encounter of Chinese and Western cultures and modes of thinking, Mao Zedong's dialectics contains considerable elements of traditional Chinese dialectics. Mao advocated differentiation between principal and secondary contradictions and between the principal and secondary aspects of a contradiction; but more importantly, he also emphasized that each can transform into its opposite under certain conditions and attached considerable importance to the "quintessence" of a contradiction, ideas which are alien to traditional Western dialectics. This makes Mao's dialectics distinctive, so that it constitutes a model of the integration (not without tension) of Chinese and Western patterns of thinking. A deeper understanding of this model will be of great benefit to the revival and development of contemporary Chinese philosophy. 展开更多

Facing the broad "eco-literature" subjects, this paper, first of all, taking eco-literature viewpoint and the theoretical connotation of eco-criticism viewpoint itself as the starting point, conducts a contrast study from the cultural origin-tracing on the American eco-literature viewpoint under the Western Bible vision and the Chinese natural eco-literature viewpoint of"Oneness of Men and Nature" through the parallel comparison method; then from the visual angle of influential research is to further explore the academic compatibility in academic research: namely, the Western ecological literature consciousness begins to appear under the premise of the Western ecological civilization being destroyed, while the China's natural eco-literature of"Oneness of Man and Nature" is based on a kind of unconscious affinity between people and nature in primitive age. Here it is necessary for us to point out that they cannot be mentioned in the same breath, because the modern ecological criticism is not the reduction of an ancient ecological thought, and also will lead to the academic non-compatibility in academic research. So only by correcting the people's misunderstanding in cognition, can we reach the unity of the natural ecological viewpoint and man civilized viewpoint so as to keep the harmony between human beings and nature. 展开更多

The low average single-well production, resulting in low economic benefit, has become the main bottleneck of CBM development in China. In view of this issue, through case study of a CBM gas reservoir in the southern Qinshui Basin,we summarized the present status of CBM technology and development there and also pointed out some major problems in CBM development:(1)the engineering technology for the CBM development needs to adapt to the particular geological characteristics;(2)a large number of inefficient zones still exist in mature blocks in the southern Qinshui Basin;(3)single-well production can not be effectively enhanced only by increasing the fracturing scale;(4)the production of multi-lateral wells is higher, but the fulfillment rate of production capacity overall is still low;and(5)on-site management lacks scientific evidence. On this basis,we present the following suggestions for subsequent coalbed gas development:(1)the production construction mode should be changed, and the fulfillment rate of production capacity construction should be improved;(2)CBM geological research should be improved and well types and locations should be designed reasonably and scientifically;(3)main technologies should be built in a dialectical thinking mode;(4)horizontal well design should be optimized to improve the applicability of relevant technologies;(5)fracturing mode should be changed to improve single-well production;and(6)the drainage technology should be changed to improve economic efficiency. 展开更多

Objective: to explore the influence of wechat continuous nursing mode constructed by critical thinking on the treatment compliance and life effect of children with epilepsy. Methods: 90 children with epilepsy treated by pediatrics in the hospital from November 2019 to March 2021 were studied. They were randomly divided into two groups according to the principle of double-blind, with 45 cases in each group. The control group implemented routine nursing and scientific health education, and the observation group implemented wechat continuous nursing constructed by critical thinking under the above premise. The nursing effects of the two groups were compared. Results: after nursing, the knowledge and recognition of epilepsy etiology, epilepsy treatment and prognosis, life precautions and the importance of medical compliance in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05);The total seizure rate in the observation group (11.11%) was significantly lower than that in the control group (37.78%), P < 0.05. Conclusion: wechat continuous nursing constructed by critical thinking is more scientific than the previous nursing model, and is worthy of wide application in the nursing of children with epilepsy. 展开更多
