基于语料库的方法,通过分析译员对插入语I think和I believe的使用,本文旨在考察记者招待会汉英口译中的性别差异。研究结果表明:在表达个人看法时,男性译员明显偏好使用I think,女性译员则主要使用I believe;在功能上,在修饰命题意义... 基于语料库的方法,通过分析译员对插入语I think和I believe的使用,本文旨在考察记者招待会汉英口译中的性别差异。研究结果表明:在表达个人看法时,男性译员明显偏好使用I think,女性译员则主要使用I believe;在功能上,在修饰命题意义和传递人际意义时,男性译员对插入成分I think/believe的使用都明显超过女性译员,表现为更加频繁地主动增添该插入成分;整体而言,男性译员的话语较女性译员显示出更高程度的不确定性。该结果可能与男性和女性所经历的不同社会化过程以及由此决定的语言使用习惯相关。此外,女性社会地位的变化也是原因之一。 展开更多

In a world growing ever more cruel and violent as nihilism becomes generalized,a world in which the disintegration of the human assumes dimensions that threaten its very cohesion,the demand for the humanization of the Western individual asserts itself as an urgent historical task.Among the institutions implicated in this process,education assumes a central role,as it is within it that wonder and critical thinking are gradually eliminated,together with the demand for shared deliberation,coherent meaning,and the tragic dimension of human existence,while an education of cruelty comes to permeate it from end to end.In order to prevent the full entrenchment of evil in the social world,from which only destruction can be expected,a decisive role could be played by caring thinking that would be coordinated with corresponding action and would come to deeply characterize the educational institution.Such a form of thinking was proposed in the second half of the twentieth century and took flesh and bones within the framework of the Philosophy for Children movement.Its contemporary application within educational practice could reactivate phronesis(practical wisdom)and contribute to enabling the Western human being to re-create themselves as a democratic human being-one who desires the creation of a world of freedom,equality,and justice,and who acts accordingly to bring it about:the creation of a compassionate and prudent world,the preservation of which would be the responsibility of all. 展开更多

The advancement of Artificial Intelligence(AI)has garnered significant attention within the academic research community,reflecting the prevailing zeitgeist.However,there is a paucity of literature that has delved into its connection with the higher order thinking skills of human beings.The purpose of this systematic review is to investigate the relationship between AI utilization and the development of critical thinking(CT)in the field of education.A systematic literature search was performed in two databases,Web of Science and Scopus,with a focus on empirical studies related to AI and CT.The review process followed the PRISMA framework and adopted a bottom-up approach,Ultimately,the integrated review synthesized 21 eligible studies from a total of 649 articles.The systematic review identified three relationships between AI technologies and CT.The results suggest that AI technologies can help to enhance learners’CT skills(n=13).However,excessive or inappropriate utilization of AI may hinder CT development(n=7).Moreover,the cultivation of CT skills has been shown to positively influence the effectiveness of AI utilization(n=4).This article represents the first literature review to delve into the reciprocal relationship between AI implementation and CT development within the education field,striving to illuminate the ways in which learners can enhance their higher-order thinking skills through more effective utilization of AI technologies. 展开更多

Religion makes individuals more social friendly as its teachings mainly focus on social responsibilities.So,it is clear that practical aspects of the religions are common and social friendly.Yet in the modern world,conflict among the devotees of different religions can be seen very commonly.Purpose of this research is to understand the Buddhist approach on other religious believes and believers.Documentary study on Pali Tipitaka is the method of data collecting and content analysis is used for data analysing in this research.Religion of a person can be defined as ones’point of view on self and the world.Buddhist teachings name these views as“Dhitthi”-viewpoints.Buddhist literature shows that Buddha and his disciples followed a unique approach on other religious believes and believers.This approach is having characteristics,such as:understanding how that believes occur,identifying the similarities and differences between other believes and Buddhist teachings,not to be emotional even being criticized,giving freedom to explain their point of view,encouraging to be open-minded,giving freedom to decide,and giving interpretations to the concepts other believer knows.Buddhist approach on other religious believes and believers is having a unique characteristics.It never discriminates the other religious believes and believers,and condemns them.It has a clear vision.That is helping individuals to overcome suffering.For that identity is not needed. 展开更多

The present study explores the importance of developing metaphorical thinking skills in students within the framework of English as a Foreign Language(EFL)reading courses at the tertiary educational level.Metaphorical thinking is viewed as the ability to envisage the world figuratively,perceive associatively,and express oneself creatively.It is crucial to recognize metaphors in texts,interpret the complex images they evoke,and generate new metaphors.It is especially needful in the current era of clip thinking and fragmented information processing when students often approach content superficially rather than comprehensively,leading to decreased cognitive activity and a diminished capacity to understand literature.To foster metaphorical thinking,the paper suggests building a text associative-semantic field focusing on metaphors.Due to its hierarchical structure,which can be envisioned as a dense nucleus surrounded by a central region of synonyms and further enveloped by a periphery of more loosely associated linguistic units,the text associative-semantic field is seen as a potent solution for facilitating improved visualization and more holistic comprehension of information,allowing students for expanding their vocabulary and strengthening associative connections.Notably,the study highlights analyzing the metaphors of emotional states as they contribute significantly to a more profound interpretation of the text,understanding the writer’s unique style,deepening the students’engagement with the book,and expanding their emotional experiences. 展开更多
