The pandemic highlighted significant gaps in the public health infrastructure impacted by shortages of public health workers, an undertrained workforce, and years of disinvestment. These gaps required innovative probl...The pandemic highlighted significant gaps in the public health infrastructure impacted by shortages of public health workers, an undertrained workforce, and years of disinvestment. These gaps required innovative problem-solving by public health agencies (PHAs), including local health departments (LHDs), to respond to rapidly changing community conditions during and after the pandemic. Many schools and programs of public health (SPPH) worked with PHAs to mobilize public health (PH) students through practice-based teaching (PBT). Current research indicates PBT benefits all stakeholders—PHAs, students, faculty, SPPH, and ultimately the community served. However, more research is needed on the utility of PBT in addressing a community’s systemic public health issues, the extent to which the academic-community collaboration enhances a PHA’s capacity, and the impact of the pedagogy on preparing the workforce for an evolving PH landscape. This paper examines the process of a semester-long PBT course, guided by the PBT STEPS framework, which includes five steps from collaboration to implementation to evaluation of a PBT course. The collaborating PHA and its student group addressed community trauma and resilience issues during the semester. Additionally, it examines the longer-term impacts after the semester for the PHA, community, and the workforce by 1) conducting a formative evaluation to understand needs and gaps in the community;2) redesigning an intervention that merged the results of the formative evaluation with the intervention developed during the semester;and 3) securing funding and resources for intervention sustainability. Through the documentation of a post-course partnership between an LHD and faculty at a large school of public health, this case study illustrates the potential for PBT to lay the foundation for ongoing research that supports more impactful interventions for PHAs while bolstering the workforce abilities of students as future practitioners.展开更多

This study explores the potential application of ChatGPT in designing customized instructional plans for Chinese as a Second Language(CSL)teaching,focusing on non-Chinese-speaking(NCS)students in Hong Kong.Through two...This study explores the potential application of ChatGPT in designing customized instructional plans for Chinese as a Second Language(CSL)teaching,focusing on non-Chinese-speaking(NCS)students in Hong Kong.Through two rounds of comparative experiments,the study evaluates the effectiveness of AI-generated instructional designs against expert-designed versions.Results reveal that while initial ChatGPT designs initially have limitations,advanced versions demonstrate significant potential in supporting teachers with task-based language teaching(TBLT).These designs provide practical,culturally relevant tasks tailored to diverse learners,enhancing instructional efficiency and learner engagement.Furthermore,ChatGPT’s accessibility offers opportunities to reduce educational disparities by supporting teachers in resource-limited contexts,thereby addressing inequities in instructional quality.The study concludes that,while AI cannot replace teachers,ChatGPT can serve as a valuable supplementary tool,complementing human expertise in culturally and linguistically complex L2 teaching.It underscores the importance of ethical considerations and the critical role of teachers in integrating AI technology effectively to maximize its benefits in education.展开更多

文摘This study explores the potential application of ChatGPT in designing customized instructional plans for Chinese as a Second Language(CSL)teaching,focusing on non-Chinese-speaking(NCS)students in Hong Kong.Through two rounds of comparative experiments,the study evaluates the effectiveness of AI-generated instructional designs against expert-designed versions.Results reveal that while initial ChatGPT designs initially have limitations,advanced versions demonstrate significant potential in supporting teachers with task-based language teaching(TBLT).These designs provide practical,culturally relevant tasks tailored to diverse learners,enhancing instructional efficiency and learner engagement.Furthermore,ChatGPT’s accessibility offers opportunities to reduce educational disparities by supporting teachers in resource-limited contexts,thereby addressing inequities in instructional quality.The study concludes that,while AI cannot replace teachers,ChatGPT can serve as a valuable supplementary tool,complementing human expertise in culturally and linguistically complex L2 teaching.It underscores the importance of ethical considerations and the critical role of teachers in integrating AI technology effectively to maximize its benefits in education.
文摘Blended learning is an important practice of teaching reform in universities,which effectively integrates online and offline teaching resources.Through the participation of teachers in the learning process and helping students construct knowledge,the teaching philosophy of“learning as the center”is realized,which plays an important role in improving the quality of teaching courses and cultivating professional talents.This article analyzes the problems in course teaching,proposes a hybrid teaching design strategy based on the ADDIO2OE model,analyzes the specific requirements of each stage,and conducts research and discussion to form a complete teaching model,aiming to deepen teaching reform and improve teaching quality.

文摘Embedded system design is the core course of the telecommunication major in engineering universities,which combines software and hardware through embedded development boards.Aiming at the problems existing in traditional teaching,this paper proposes curriculum teaching reform based on the outcome-based education(OBE)concept,including determining course objectives,reforming teaching modes and methods,and improving the curriculum assessment and evaluation system.After two semesters of practice,this method not only enhances students’learning initiative but also improves teaching quality.

文摘With the digital transformation of global education and China's emphasis on education digital,generative AI technology has been widely used in the field of higher education.In this paper,the development of generative AI technology and its potential in personalized learning,interactive content creation and adaptive assessment in education were introduced firstly.Then,the application case of generative AI tools in teaching content creation,scenario-based teaching content development,visual teaching content development,complex concept deconstruction and analogy,student-led application practice and other aspects in the teaching of Building Decoration Materials was discussed.Through the teaching experiment and effect evaluation,the positive influence of generative AI technology on the improvement of students'learning effect and teaching efficiency was verified.Finally,some thoughts and inspirations on the combination of educational theory and generative AI technology,the integration of teaching design and generative AI technology,and the practice cases and effect evaluation were put forward,and the importance of teacher role transformation and personalized learning path design was emphasized to provide theoretical and practical support for the innovative development of higher education.

文摘Interest in integrating design methodologies within interdisciplinary teaching has emerged as a strong method for increasing student learning and creativity, especially in integrating art and education. This study discusses the theoretical underpinnings of design-based teaching methodology and its practical applications in interdisciplinary settings. It discusses current practices and emerging trends in how design thinking principles bridge the gap between artistic expression and educational pedagogy. The results highlight the importance of a collaborative learning environment, an iterative process, and project-based approaches that allow the development of skills related to creativity besides the analytical ones. The main strategies in implementing methodologies for such purposes and their impact on student engagement in learning are discussed.

文摘Comprehensively promoting curriculum ideological and political education is a strategic measure to implement the fundamental task of establishing moral integrity and educating people.Culinary raw materials is the core curriculum of culinary majors,which is rich in ideological and political elements.In this study,taking livestock and poultry raw materials as an example,the teaching design of integrating curriculum ideological and political education into culinary raw materials were investigated by sorting out its teaching contents and excavating its ideological and political elements.Taking livestock and poultry raw materials in Teochew Cuisine Raw Materials as an example,the teaching design of curriculum ideological and political education was conducted,aiming to provide some reference and guidance for curriculum ideological and political education of the curriculum.
