A class of trust region methods for solving linear inequality constrained problems is proposed in this paper. It is shown that the algorithm is of global convergence.The algorithm uses a version of the two-sided projection and the strategy of the unconstrained trust region methods. It keeps the good convergence properties of the unconstrained case and has the merits of the projection method. This paper is concerned with the reliable H∞filtering,reliable filtering,Lyapunov function,sensor failure,linear matrix inequality(LMI)filtering problem against sensor failures for a class of discrete-time systems with sector-bounded nonlinearities.The resulting design is that the filtering error system is asymptotically stable and meets the prescribed H∞filtering,reliable filtering,Lyapunov function,sensor failure,linear matrix inequality(LMI)norm constraint in normal case as well as in sensor failure case.Sufficient conditions for the existence of the filter are obtained by using appropriate Lyapunov functional and linear matrix inequality(LMI)techniques.Moreover,in order to reduce the design conservativeness and get better performance,we adopt the slack variable method to realize the decoupling between the Lyapunov matrices and the system dynamic matrices.A numerical example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed designs. 展开更多

This paper deals with the simultaneous estimation of states and unknown inputs for a class of Lipschitz nonlinear systems using only the measured outputs. The system is assumed to have bounded uncertainties that appear on both the state and output matrices. The observer design problem is formulated as a set of linear constraints which can be easily solved using linear matrix inequalities (LMI) technique. An application based on manipulator arm actuated by a direct current (DC) motor is presented to evaluate the performance of the proposed observer. In this correspondence paper, an equivalent stability criterion with minimal number of linear matrix inequality (LMI) variables is presented for a delay-dependent stability criterion reported recently in the International Journal of Automation and Computing for a class of linear discrete-time systems with additive time delays. The reported stability criterion for the additive timedelay systems has more number of matrix variables in the LMI and, hence, demand additional computational burden. The proposed equivalent stability criterion, unlike the reported one, does not involve free-weighing matrices and encompass only the matrix variables that are associated in the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, making the criterion mathematically less complex and computationally more effective. 展开更多

Different from the traditional two-step anti-windup design procedure, the proposed method synthesizes all controller parameters simultaneously. Sufficient conditions for global stability and minimizing the induced L2 gain are formulated and solved as a linear matrix inequalities(LMIs) optimization problem, which also provides an opportunity to search for a better performance tradeoff between the linear controller and the anti-windup compensator.The well-posedness of the close-loop system is also guaranteed.Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

The problem of the robust D-stability analysis for linear systems with parametric uncertainties is addressed. For matrix polytopes, new conditions via the affine parameter-dependent Lyapunov function of uncertain systems are developed with the benefit of the scalar multi-convex function. To be convenient for applications, such conditions are simplified into new linear matrix inequality (LMI) conditions, which can be solved by the powerful LMI toolbox. Numerical examples are provided to indicate that this new approach is less conservative than previous results for Hurwitz stability, Schur stability and D-stability of uncertain systems under certain circumstances. 展开更多

A sufficient condition for the systems to be regular, impulsive-free and practically stable is derived. Then the synthesis problem is addressed and a state feedback controller is designed. To deal with the computational issue, the conditions of the main results are converted into linear matrix inequality (LMI) feasibility problems. Furthermore, two optimization algorithms are formulated to improve the system performances. Finally, numerical examples are given to illustrate the obtained results. 展开更多

This paper addresses the design problem of robust iterative learning controllers for a class of linear discrete-time systems with norm-bounded parameter uncertainties. An iterative learning algorithm with current cycle feedback is proposed to achieve both robust convergence and robust stability. The synthesis problem of the proposed iterative learmng control (ILC) system is reformulated as a γ-suboptimal H-infinity control problem via the linear fractional transformation (LFT). A sufficient condition for the convergence of the ILC algorithm is presented in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Furthermore, the linear wansfer operators of the ILC algorithm with high convergence speed are obtained by using existing convex optimization techniques. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

The stability conditions, which are derived in the frequency domain, have the following features: i) They involve the positive definiteness of the real part (as evaluated on |z| = 1) of the product of Г (z) and a matrix multiplier function of z. ii) For periodic A(k), one class of multiplier functions can be chosen so as to impose no constraint on the rate of variations A(k), but for aperiodic A(k), which allows a more general multiplier function, constraints are imposed on certain global averages of the generalized eigenvalues of (A(k + 1),A(k)), k = 1, 2 iii) They are distinct from and less restrictive than recent results in the literature. 展开更多

The control design constraints are shown to be a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which can be easily solved by the MATLAB LMI Control Toolbox to determine the control law. Most recurrent neural networks (including the chaotic neural network) and nonlinear systems modeled by neural networks or Takagi and Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy models can be transformed into the SNNMs to be stabilization controllers synthesized in the framework of a unified SNNM.
