In our experiment, a triple-peak image is effectively transferred trom a coupling beam to a signal beam based on the FIT effect. It is found that the transferred image intensity profile of the signal beam is the same as that of the coupling beam while not in phase. Furthermore, the propagation property of the transferred image is studied. Due to the narrowing effect, the transferred image keeps narrowing and maintains the shape well within a certain distance outside of the medium. Our experimental results are in excellent agreement with the theoretical analysis.展开更多

The reason why Jiangnan江南becomes a specialized and widely accepted concept,rich in both concrete and symbolic meaning in Chinese culture,lies not only in its prominent economic and cultural status but also in the co...The reason why Jiangnan江南becomes a specialized and widely accepted concept,rich in both concrete and symbolic meaning in Chinese culture,lies not only in its prominent economic and cultural status but also in the continuous efforts of generations of literati to associate the concept with literature and imagery.The tribute system that originated in the pre-Qin period underscores the power center's desire for and appropriation of local products,which brought the specialties of the Jiangnan region to greater public attention.This marks the historical precondition for Jiangnan's transformation into a cultural image rather than merely a geographical designation.As these local products increasingly appeared in literary texts,an imagery process of Jiangnan specialties took shape within the literary field.Two successive waves of southern literati migrating northward during the Six Dynasties continually emphasized and reinforced an aesthetic perspective centered on Jiangnan.This led to two major changes in the aesthetic image of Jiangnan.Firstly,the patterns of aesthetic activities have transformed into a more positive one.Secondly,it is the landscape rather than local products that becomes the main aesthetic object.The southward migration of the Jin court,which triggered the southward shift of the cultural center,marked a significant turning point in the evolution of the Jiangnan image,bringing about dual transformations in both patterns of aesthetics and cultural psychology.The continuous reinforcement of the regional aesthetic perspective and the gradual formation of a shared cultural concept of Jiangnan constitute two decisive factors in the historical formation of the image of Jiangnan.展开更多

In this paper, a new reconstruction method based on the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) domain has been put forward. According to the low pass character of the human visual system and the energy distribution of the DCT coefficients on the rectangular boundary, the DCT coefficients of the rectangular image area are adaptively selected and recovered. After the Inverse Discrete Cosine Transform (IDCT), the lost information of the rectangular image area can be reconstructed. The experiments have demonstrated that the subjective and objective qualities of the reconstructed images are enhanced greatly than before.展开更多

However, because every range block must be compared t...The fractal image encoding method has received much attention for its many advantages over other methods, such as high decoding quality at high compression ratios. However, because every range block must be compared to all domain blocks in the codebook to find the best-matched one during the coding procedure, baseline fractal coding （BFC） is quite time consuming. To speed up fractal coding, a new fast fractal encoding algorithm is proposed. This algorithm aims at reducing the size of the search window during the domain-range matching process to minimize the computational cost. A new theorem presented in this paper shows that a special feature of the image can be used to do this work. Based on this theorem, the most inappropriate domain blocks, whose features are not similar to that of the given range block, are excluded before matching. Thus, the best-matched block can be captured much more quickly than in the BFC approach. The experimental results show that the runtime of the proposed method is reduced greatly com- pared to the BFC method. At the same time, the new algorithm also achieves high reconstructed image quality. In addition, the method can be incorporated with other fast algorithms to achieve better performance Therefore, the proposed algorithm has a much better application potential than BFC.展开更多
