This article focuses on the productivity and technical efficiency of 100 cocoa ...Elevation is one of many components that influence agriculture, and this in turn affects the level of both inputs and outputs of farmers. This article focuses on the productivity and technical efficiency of 100 cocoa farms using cross-sectional data from areas ranging from 190 to 1021 m above sea level which were classified as low, medium, and high elevation in Davao City, considered as the chocolate capital of the Philippines. Using stochastic frontier analysis, the results showed that the cost of inputs per ha and the number of cocoa trees per ha significantly increase yield. Farms at high elevations were less technically efficient, as this entails lower temperatures and increased rainfall, and cocoa farming in those areas and conditions can be more challenging, especially with changes in farming practices, terrain, and distance to markets. Other significant variables were age of cocoa farms, married farmers, and age of the farmers. Older farms may be more developed, farmers who are married benefit from their spouses being able to readily contribute as farm labor, and lastly, older farmers' inefficiency may likely stem from nonadaptation of newer farming practices. With an average technical efficiency of 0.61, 0.63, and 0.26 in low, medium, and high elevation areas, respectively, farmers therefore have an incentive to improve farm practices and consider topographical variations found in high elevation areas. Recommendations for the improvement of technical efficiency of cocoa farms are better connectivity to markets, enhancing farm practices, and continuation and improvement of government programs on cocoa with an added emphasis on research. For farmers in high elevation areas, mitigating solutions such as sustainable agriculture practices and ecolabelling are key to improving efficiency and minimizing the potential negative impact on upland farming systems. Moreover, such adaptation measures may also contribute to sustainability of cocoa farming in high elevation areas.展开更多

Pervasive critical shortage of skills and evolution of technologies has pushed for integration of different approaches to training to address the deficit in technical skills. Objective: The aim is to investigate the impact of training in technical skills on operating theatre nurses’ clinical competence and describe important factors of clinical competence for operating theatre nurses (OTNs). Method: We used systematic review of the evidences on the best practice in design and delivery of training for operating theatre nurses. The review systematically searched for six relevant articles in PubMed, CINAHL and Embase using keywords and mesh terms for studies on training of perioperative nurses in December 2024. We extracted information on training and the impact of training on participant’s technical skills. Results: The systematic review screened 518 sources from the three identified databases where six peer-reviewed sources met the inclusion criteria developed by the authors and were included for analysis. The authors used the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool to assess the level of empirical evidence based on five domains of bias. Finding: Our findings demonstrate that simulation and technology-based approaches significantly improve nurses’ technical skills and confidence. Conclusion: The review underscores the importance of structured and technology-driven training programs in enhancing operating room (OR) nurses’ technical skills. This study provides a systematic investigation into the influence of feature selection methods on cryptocurrency price forecasting models employing technical indicators.In this work,over 130 technical indicators—cove...This study provides a systematic investigation into the influence of feature selection methods on cryptocurrency price forecasting models employing technical indicators.In this work,over 130 technical indicators—covering momentum,volatility,volume,and trend-related technical indicators—are subjected to three distinct feature selection approaches.Specifically,mutual information(MI),recursive feature elimination(RFE),and random forest importance(RFI).By extracting an optimal set of 20 predictors,the proposed framework aims to mitigate redundancy and overfitting while enhancing interpretability.These feature subsets are integrated into support vector regression(SVR),Huber regressors,and k-nearest neighbors(KNN)models to forecast the prices of three leading cryptocurrencies—Bitcoin(BTC/USDT),Ethereum(ETH/USDT),and Binance Coin(BNB/USDT)—across horizons ranging from 1 to 20 days.Model evaluation employs the coefficient of determination(R2)and the root mean squared logarithmic error(RMSLE),alongside a walk-forward validation scheme to approximate real-world trading contexts.Empirical results indicate that incorporating momentum and volatility measures substantially improves predictive accuracy,with particularly pronounced effects observed at longer forecast windows.Moreover,indicators related to volume and trend provide incremental benefits in select market conditions.Notably,an 80%–85% reduction in the original feature set frequently maintains or enhances model performance relative to the complete indicator set.These findings highlight the critical role of targeted feature selection in addressing high-dimensional financial data challenges while preserving model robustness.This research advances the field of cryptocurrency forecasting by offering a rigorous comparison of feature selection methods and their effects on multiple digital assets and prediction horizons.The outcomes highlight the importance of dimension-reduction strategies in developing more efficient and resilient forecasting algorithms.Future efforts should incorporate high-frequency data and explore alternative selection techniques to further refine predictive accuracy in this highly volatile domain.展开更多

In chemical flooding,emulsification and interfacial tension(IFT)reduction are crucial for enhanced oil recovery(EOR).However,the dominant performance parameter and technical limits of surfactants for oil displacement ...In chemical flooding,emulsification and interfacial tension(IFT)reduction are crucial for enhanced oil recovery(EOR).However,the dominant performance parameter and technical limits of surfactants for oil displacement remain underexplored.This study investigated the relationship between the emulsification capability and IFT.Accordingly,the dominant performance parameter and the technical limits of surfactants were determined using oil displacement experiments.Specifically,an analysis of 74 sets of experimental results revealed a shift in the significant correlation between EI(a quantitative measure of emulsification capability)andσat anσvalue of 8.5×10^(-2)mN/m(i.e.,critical valueσ_(c)).Forσ<σ_(c),emulsification capability and IFT function as independent performance parameters.The oil displacement experiments using two surfactants with contrasting EI andσvalues demonstrate that emulsification capability,rather than ultra-low IFT,is the dominant performance parameter.This study determined the technical limit of EI using oil displacement experiments via in-situ emulsification.The experimental results indicate strong correlations of EI with oil displacement and recovery efficiencies.The incremental displacement and recovery efficiencies were employed to quantify the potential of surfactants to enhance oil displacement and recovery efficiencies,respectively.The incremental displacement and recovery efficiencies versus EI curves revealed a critical EI(EI_(c))value of 0.53.When EIEI_(c),their increasing rates slowed down markedly.Therefore,the technical limits of the emulsification capability and IFT of surfactants used in this study are determined at EI≥0.53 andσ≤8.5×10^(-2)mN/m,respectively.展开更多
As global trade networks deepen and trade patterns evolve,supply chain dynamics have emerged as a critical driver of high-quality development-particularly as reflected in firms’capacity to export higher-quality produ...As global trade networks deepen and trade patterns evolve,supply chain dynamics have emerged as a critical driver of high-quality development-particularly as reflected in firms’capacity to export higher-quality products.Drawing on new-new trade theory,this study incorporates supply chain behavior-specifically,the use of intermediate goods-into the analytical framework for determining export product quality.Theoretically,it posits that technical regulations on the supply chain influence export quality through two key channels:improvements in the quality of intermediate inputs and changes in their associated costs.Empirically,the study exploits China’s imposition of technical barriers to trade(TBT)on intermediate goods imports as a quasi-natural experiment,applying a difference-in-differences approach to firm-level export data from 2000 to 2014.The results show that supply chain technical regulations lead to significant improvements in the quality of exported final products.Mechanistically,the regulations raise the quality of imported intermediates,which in turn drive upgrades in final outputs,while leaving import costs largely unchanged-since compliance expenses are absorbed by foreign exporters rather than passed on to Chinese firms.Further analysis reveals substantial heterogeneity in these effects,depending on both the type of regulation and firm characteristics.These variations reflect differences in regulatory intensity and in firms’sensitivity to supply chain changes,adaptability,and capacity to convert input quality into product upgrades.Overall,the findings suggest that strengthening supply-side regulatory standards-when properly designed-represents a strategic lever for improving product quality and enhancing firms’international competitiveness,offering valuable insights for trade policy and global supply chain governance.展开更多

文摘This study provides a systematic investigation into the influence of feature selection methods on cryptocurrency price forecasting models employing technical indicators.In this work,over 130 technical indicators—covering momentum,volatility,volume,and trend-related technical indicators—are subjected to three distinct feature selection approaches.Specifically,mutual information(MI),recursive feature elimination(RFE),and random forest importance(RFI).By extracting an optimal set of 20 predictors,the proposed framework aims to mitigate redundancy and overfitting while enhancing interpretability.These feature subsets are integrated into support vector regression(SVR),Huber regressors,and k-nearest neighbors(KNN)models to forecast the prices of three leading cryptocurrencies—Bitcoin(BTC/USDT),Ethereum(ETH/USDT),and Binance Coin(BNB/USDT)—across horizons ranging from 1 to 20 days.Model evaluation employs the coefficient of determination(R2)and the root mean squared logarithmic error(RMSLE),alongside a walk-forward validation scheme to approximate real-world trading contexts.Empirical results indicate that incorporating momentum and volatility measures substantially improves predictive accuracy,with particularly pronounced effects observed at longer forecast windows.Moreover,indicators related to volume and trend provide incremental benefits in select market conditions.Notably,an 80%–85% reduction in the original feature set frequently maintains or enhances model performance relative to the complete indicator set.These findings highlight the critical role of targeted feature selection in addressing high-dimensional financial data challenges while preserving model robustness.This research advances the field of cryptocurrency forecasting by offering a rigorous comparison of feature selection methods and their effects on multiple digital assets and prediction horizons.The outcomes highlight the importance of dimension-reduction strategies in developing more efficient and resilient forecasting algorithms.Future efforts should incorporate high-frequency data and explore alternative selection techniques to further refine predictive accuracy in this highly volatile domain.
文摘Addressing issues such as the disconnect between theory and practice and low student engagement in control system education,this paper uses the course“The Working Process of Open-Loop Control Systems”as a case study to explore the integration of AI technology with the“project-guided and task-driven”teaching model.By constructing a four-dimensional teaching framework of“situation-task-activity-evaluation,”AI tools are embedded in project practices such as the construction of a mechanical timed flower watering device and the optimization of a digital timed flower watering device,achieving precision,interactivity,and personalization in the teaching process.Teaching practice demonstrates that this model significantly enhances students’technical awareness,materialization capabilities,and engineering thinking,providing a reference for the teaching reform of technical courses in high school education.

文摘Term is a kind of limited language symbols,usually presented in a specific language or text and used to communicate and express ideas.With the globalization of economy,international trade has become more frequent,and chemical products have gradually become the hotspot of international import and export transactions,so the Chinese translation of the names of chemical products has become more important,and accurate translation can better promote the development of the domestic chemical industry and its dialogue and exchange with the international chemical industry.In this paper,we first explore the Chinese translation strategies of the semi-technical words in chemistry,and then investigate the translation strategies for technical words,subdividing the technical words into compounds,derivatives,and acronyms,with a view to providing ideas and references for translations of relevant texts.

文摘In chemical flooding,emulsification and interfacial tension(IFT)reduction are crucial for enhanced oil recovery(EOR).However,the dominant performance parameter and technical limits of surfactants for oil displacement remain underexplored.This study investigated the relationship between the emulsification capability and IFT.Accordingly,the dominant performance parameter and the technical limits of surfactants were determined using oil displacement experiments.Specifically,an analysis of 74 sets of experimental results revealed a shift in the significant correlation between EI(a quantitative measure of emulsification capability)andσat anσvalue of 8.5×10^(-2)mN/m(i.e.,critical valueσ_(c)).Forσ<σ_(c),emulsification capability and IFT function as independent performance parameters.The oil displacement experiments using two surfactants with contrasting EI andσvalues demonstrate that emulsification capability,rather than ultra-low IFT,is the dominant performance parameter.This study determined the technical limit of EI using oil displacement experiments via in-situ emulsification.The experimental results indicate strong correlations of EI with oil displacement and recovery efficiencies.The incremental displacement and recovery efficiencies were employed to quantify the potential of surfactants to enhance oil displacement and recovery efficiencies,respectively.The incremental displacement and recovery efficiencies versus EI curves revealed a critical EI(EI_(c))value of 0.53.When EIEI_(c),their increasing rates slowed down markedly.Therefore,the technical limits of the emulsification capability and IFT of surfactants used in this study are determined at EI≥0.53 andσ≤8.5×10^(-2)mN/m,respectively.

文摘As global trade networks deepen and trade patterns evolve,supply chain dynamics have emerged as a critical driver of high-quality development-particularly as reflected in firms’capacity to export higher-quality products.Drawing on new-new trade theory,this study incorporates supply chain behavior-specifically,the use of intermediate goods-into the analytical framework for determining export product quality.Theoretically,it posits that technical regulations on the supply chain influence export quality through two key channels:improvements in the quality of intermediate inputs and changes in their associated costs.Empirically,the study exploits China’s imposition of technical barriers to trade(TBT)on intermediate goods imports as a quasi-natural experiment,applying a difference-in-differences approach to firm-level export data from 2000 to 2014.The results show that supply chain technical regulations lead to significant improvements in the quality of exported final products.Mechanistically,the regulations raise the quality of imported intermediates,which in turn drive upgrades in final outputs,while leaving import costs largely unchanged-since compliance expenses are absorbed by foreign exporters rather than passed on to Chinese firms.Further analysis reveals substantial heterogeneity in these effects,depending on both the type of regulation and firm characteristics.These variations reflect differences in regulatory intensity and in firms’sensitivity to supply chain changes,adaptability,and capacity to convert input quality into product upgrades.Overall,the findings suggest that strengthening supply-side regulatory standards-when properly designed-represents a strategic lever for improving product quality and enhancing firms’international competitiveness,offering valuable insights for trade policy and global supply chain governance.
