In response to the common problems in college English writing teaching,such as the separation of learning and application,students’low interest in writing,and difficulties in expression,this paper,based on the theore...In response to the common problems in college English writing teaching,such as the separation of learning and application,students’low interest in writing,and difficulties in expression,this paper,based on the theoretical framework of the production-oriented approach(POA)proposed by Professor Wen Qiufang,designed and implemented a set of IELTS writing teaching plan.This plan takes“motivating,enabling,and assessing”as the core teaching process,and selects typical IELTS argumentative essay topics(such as food diversity)to create real communication scenarios.In the motivating stage,diverse inputs are used to stimulate students’interest and expose their language weaknesses;in the enabling stage,language knowledge,viewpoint generation,and text structure are focused on for targeted input and training;in the assessing stage,a combination of teacher-student cooperation and peer evaluation is adopted to guide students to identify and correct deficiencies in language use.The research results show that the POA model can effectively enhance students’writing interest,active learning awareness,and writing ability,particularly in overcoming vocabulary poverty and material shortages,as well as improving language accuracy and expression richness.This provides an operational theoretical basis and practical path for improving the teaching effect of IELTS writing.展开更多

This research discusses the application of TBA in English Listening Teaching at Middle Schools in order to improve the students listening ability. In the first part, the author introduces the background and significance of the research. In the second part, it states the definition of listening comprehension, the characteristics of listening process, three models of listening processing. In the third part, it introduces the definition of Task, characteristics of task, and the principles of designing a task. Finally, it introduces the Task-based Approach. Present English learning and teaching in colleges especially in Art Academy is far from satisfactory.English,as one of the most important international languages,plays a more and more important role in the internation...Present English learning and teaching in colleges especially in Art Academy is far from satisfactory.English,as one of the most important international languages,plays a more and more important role in the international communication.In this paper,the author tries to apply TBLT(Task-based Language Teaching) to oral English teaching.The experiment chose 102 freshmen of two classes in College of Broadcasting and Hosting in CUCN(Communication University of China,Nanjing) as subjects,lasting 16 weeks all together.In the experimental class,the participants are taught with the new method with the aid of TBLT,while in the controlled class,the traditional approach was utilized.By means of data analysis and daily observation of teaching experiment,with the help of the software SPSS and MATLAB,the comparison of both class and of the EC before and after the experiment has verified that the new method with the aid of TBLT has a more positive effect in improving students'oral proficiency,es pecially for students who had a poor performance in speaking before.展开更多
