Moreover, it is tested by a software with data from a sugar cane planting experimental field in Yunnan, China. The methodology behind the detailed system analysis, design, and engineering has been discussed. The issue of how to create a dynamic data-dependent forecast model of a threshold forecast system, whose threshold changes according to the change of planting environment has been solved. Hence an effective solution has been initiated for further development on an agricultural expert system.展开更多

In addition, the dependent competing failure model is applied to the reliability analysis of the k-out-of-n systems. In the present work, we investigate threshold characteristics of a single mode 1.55 μm InGaAsP vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) with two different optical confinement structures. The device employs InGa...In the present work, we investigate threshold characteristics of a single mode 1.55 μm InGaAsP vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) with two different optical confinement structures. The device employs InGaAsP active region, which is sandwiched between GaAs/AlGaAs and GaAs/AlAs distributed Bragg reflectors (DBRs). The optical confinement introduced by the oxide aperture or a single defect photonic crystal design with holes etched throughout the whole structure, is compared with previous work. Photonic crystal VCSEL shows 30.86% and 57.02% lower threshold current than that of the similar oxide confined VCSEL and previous results, respectively. This paper provides key results of the threshold characteristics, including the threshold current and the threshold power. Results suggest that, the 1.55 μm InGaAsP photonic crystal VCSEL seems to be the most optimal one for light sources in high performance optical communication systems.展开更多
In order to detect and estimate faults in discrete lin-ear time-varying uncertain systems, the discrete iterative learning strategy is applied in fault diagnosis, and a novel fault detection and estimation algorithm i...In order to detect and estimate faults in discrete lin-ear time-varying uncertain systems, the discrete iterative learning strategy is applied in fault diagnosis, and a novel fault detection and estimation algorithm is proposed. And the threshold limited technology is adopted in the proposed algorithm. Within the chosen optimal time region, residual signals are used in the proposed algorithm to correct the introduced virtual faults with iterative learning rules, making the virtual faults close to these occurred in practical systems. And the same method is repeated in the rest optimal time regions, thereby reaching the aim of fault diagnosis. The proposed algorithm not only completes fault detection and estimation for discrete linear time-varying uncertain systems, but also improves the reliability of fault detection and decreases the false alarm rate. The final simulation results verify the validity of the proposed algorithm.展开更多
Rice cropping systems not only characterize comprehensive utilization intensity of agricultural resources but also serve as the basis to enhance the provision services of agro-ecosystems. Yet, it is always affected by...Rice cropping systems not only characterize comprehensive utilization intensity of agricultural resources but also serve as the basis to enhance the provision services of agro-ecosystems. Yet, it is always affected by external factors, like agricultural policies. Since 2004, seven consecutive No.1 Central Documents issued by the Central Government have focused on agricultural development in China. So far, few studies have investigated the effects of these policies on the rice cropping systems. In this study, based upon the long-term field survey information on paddy rice fields, we proposed a method to discriminate the rice cropping systems with Landsat data and quantified the spatial variations of rice cropping systems in the Poyang Lake Region (PLR), China. The results revealed that: (1) from 2004 to 2010, the decrement of paddy rice field was 46.76 km2 due to the land use change. (2) The temporal dynamics of NDVI derived from Landsat historical images could well characterize the temporal development of paddy rice fields. NDVI curves of single cropping rice fields showed one peak, while NDVI curves of double cropping rice fields displayed two peaks annually. NDVI of fallow field fluctuated between 0.15 and 0.40. NDVI of the flooded field during the transplanting period was relatively low, about 0.20±0.05, while NDVI during the period of panicle initiation to heading reached the highest level (above 0.80). Then, several temporal windows were determined based upon the NDVI variations of different rice cropping systems. (3) With the spatial pattern of paddy rice field and the NDVI threshold within optimum temporal windows, the spatial variation of rice cropping systems was very obvious, with an increased multiple cropping index of rice about 20.2% from 2004 to 2010. The case-based reasoning(CBR) and rule-based reasoning(RBR) fusion systems include a diverse range of fusion methods and their tasks are characterized by interleaving combination of the reasoning procedures. Exist...The case-based reasoning(CBR) and rule-based reasoning(RBR) fusion systems include a diverse range of fusion methods and their tasks are characterized by interleaving combination of the reasoning procedures. Existing approaches cannot clarify the complex relationships between data from the knowledge sources nor uniformly represent the heterogeneous case and rule knowledge in one fusion space. As a result, existing approaches fail to solve system fragility due to knowledge uncertainty and reasoning unreliability. For the purpose of addressing the difficulties, a novel algorithm for CBR-RBR fusion with robust thresholds(CRFRT) is proposed. Heterogeneous case and rule knowledge are uniformly represented in one defined fusion unitary space. The robust thresholds have been achieved to distinguish the complex relationships between meta-knowledge in the fusion space and to enhance system capacity of knowledge identification. Furthermore, fusion reasoning strategies are constructed for CRFRT and its procedure based on which robust solution of the fusion reasoning problem is obtained. Finally, CRFRT is validated by benchmark problems in machine learning. Compared with other CBR and RBR approaches, the reasoning efficiency and accuracy are increased by 5% and 2.2% respectively. The variations of system accuracy are decreased by 2% to 3.8%. The above results show that the CRFRT algorithm boosts the system's effectiveness and robustness. The proposed CRFRT can solve the fragility of complex intelligence decision system and give quality performance for fault diagnosis.展开更多
