A 15° swept wing with dielectric barrier discharge plasma actuator is designed. Experimental study of flow separation control with nanosecond pulsed plasma actuation is performed at flow velocity up to 40 m/s. The effects of the actuation frequency and voltage on the aerodynamic performance of the swept wing are evaluated by the balanced force and pressure measurements in the wind tunnel. At last, the performances on separation flow control of the three types of actuators with plane and saw-toothed exposed electrodes are compared. The optimal actua- tion frequency for the flow separation control on the swept wing is detected, namely the reduced frequency is 0.775, which is different from 2-D airfoil separation control. There exists a threshold voltage for the low swept wing flow control. Before the threshold voltage, as the actuation voltage increases, the control effects become better. The maximum lift is increased by 23.1% with the drag decreased by 22.4% at 14°, compared with the base line. However, the best effects are obtained on actuator with plane exposed electrode in the low-speed experiment and the abilities of saw-toothed actuators are expected to be verified under high-speed conditions. 展开更多

Compared with a straight blade, a unique compressor blade integratedforward-swept and positive-curved stacking line is studied experimentally. Aerodynamic parameters ofthe two cascades are measured by a five-hole probe at different positions and ink trace flowvisualization is conducted on blade surfaces. The result shows that the swept-curved cascade haslower endwall loss and higher midspan loss as compared with the straight cascade. However, lowerloss is accompanied with lower diffusion factor. Opposite 'C' shape static pressure distribution isestablished on the suction surface of the swept-curved blade, which is helpful for avoiding theaccumulation of low energy fluid in the endwall corner region. Anyhow the studies support theconclusion that the swept-curved blade conduces to not only the reduction of overall loss but alsothe improvement of stable operation in the endwall corner region. 展开更多

Machine learning has been widely utilized in flow field modeling and aerodynamic optimization.However,most applications are limited to two-dimensional problems.The dimensionality and the cost per simulation of three-dimensional problems are so high that it is often too expensive to prepare sufficient samples.Therefore,transfer learning has become a promising approach to reuse well-trained two-dimensional models and greatly reduce the need for samples for threedimensional problems.This paper proposes to reuse the baseline models trained on supercritical airfoils to predict finite-span swept supercritical wings,where the simple swept theory is embedded to improve the prediction accuracy.Two baseline models are investigated:one is commonly referred to as the forward problem of predicting the pressure coefficient distribution based on the geometry,and the other is the inverse problem that predicts the geometry based on the pressure coefficient distribution.Two transfer learning strategies are compared for both baseline models.The transferred models are then tested on complete wings.The results show that transfer learning requires only approximately 500 wing samples to achieve good prediction accuracy on different wing planforms and different free stream conditions.Compared to the two baseline models,the transferred models reduce the prediction error by 60%and 80%,respectively. 展开更多

In order to analyze the effects of forward-swept angle and skin ply-orientation on the static and dynamic aeroelastic characteristics, the aeroelastic modeling and calculation for high-aspect-ratio composite wings with different forward-swept angles and skin ply-orientation are performed. This paper presents the results of a design study aiming to optimize wings with typical forward-swept angles and skin ply-orientation in an aeroelastic way by using the genetic/sensitivity-based hybrid algorithm. Under the conditions of satiated multiple constraints including strength, displacements, divergence speeds and flutter speeds, the studies are carried out in a bid to minimize the structural weight of a wing with the lay-up thicknesses of wing components as design variabies. In addition, the effects of the power of spanwise variation function of lay-up thicknesses of skins and iugs on the optimized weights are also analyzed. 展开更多

Lightning strike is a complicated process involving multi-field coupling.In order to investigate the thermal damage mechanism of carbon fiber reinforced composites subject to lightning swept stroke,a complete numerical method is presented.Numerical model of lightning discharge is established based on Magneto Hydro Dynamics(MHD)and calculated by FLUENT secondary development technology.Considering aerodynamic flow effect,channel formation and evolution process during lightning discharge is analyzed for lightning current waveform A.Thermal-electric Coupling model is presented according to Radial Basis Function(RBF)interpolation theory,which is implemented by compiling program to make lightning current and heat energy inject into composite laminate.Consequently,damage mechanism of composite laminate under lightning swept stroke is studied based on the coupled numerical model and element deletion method.Ablation damage morphology of composite laminate is analyzed to understand plasma expansion and reattachment in arc root.The results show that aerodynamic flow makes the lightning channel move fast and composite laminate is deteriorated due to thermal damage. 展开更多

An experimental study on the traveling crossflow instability over a 60∘swept flat plate was conducted.The Mach number is 6,the angle of attack of the model is 5∘.The traveling crossflow waves and the secondary instability of the traveling crossflow waves were visualized by nano-tracer-based planar laser scattering(NPLS)technique.In the spanwise NPLS images,the traveling crossflow waves appeared as regular strikes,and the secondary instability appeared as small eddies attached to strikes.The wavelet transform was used to study the wavelength contents of the traveling crossflow waves.The most amplified wavelength is stable before the secondary instability happening,which is around 12 mm at Re_(∞)=3.45×10^(6)m^(−1).Besides,the Reynolds number effects on the boundary layer transition and traveling crossflow instability were discussed. 展开更多

Scallop ice is a special phenomenon that occurs during swept wing aircraft passing through icing clouds.It poses a great challenge for the icing safety assessment that the complex scallop ice shape feature and its mechanism are still unclear.In this work,a large-scale icing wind tunnel experiment of swept wing designed by NACA0012 airfoil is conducted in the Icing Wind Tunnel of China Aerodynamics Research and Development Center.The detailed three-dimensional ice shapes under 0°,15°,30°and 45°swept angles are obtained by laser scanning technology.The experimental results show that with the swept angle increasing from 0°to 45°,the 2D double ice horn structures show certain spanwise variation,and finally transform into complete scallop ice with ice thickness greatly enhanced in the stagnation line region.The empirical mode decomposition of the spanwise ice curve captures the high-frequency fluctuation on the scallop ice caused by the small-scale roughness element,while the trend with low frequency is not obvious.Based on the experimental data,a new complete scallop ice geometric model,named 5Points-5Lines-2Arcs(5P-5L-2A)model,is proposed,which can provide important basis for the quantitative description of complex scallop ice shape. 展开更多

AIM: To categorize neovessels morphology and to detect response to anti-angiogenic therapy by using structural and angiographic modes of swept source optical coherence tomography(SS-OCT).METHODS: Thirty-two eyes with neovessels at disc(NVD) and neovessels elsewhere(NVE)-as diagnosed by fluorescein angiography-were included. Cross sectional OCT images of disc and macular regions were registered to enface OCT angiography(OCTA), B-scan blood flow over lay and density maps. Three eyes received antiangiogenic treatment.RESULTS: Pin point registration of cross-sectional OCT and OCTA images differentiated active NVD with vascular elements from fibrous or equivalent fibrovascular elements. En face images delineated NVE as vascular tufts or area of filling while cross-sectional images differentiated NVE from microvascular intraretinal abnormality(IRMA). All cases were associated with enlargement of foveal avascular zone and or areas of capillary non perfusion. Regressed NVD appeared as ghost vessel or pruned vascular loops after injection.CONCLUSION: Structural and angiographic modes of SS-OCT can detect, characterize and categorize the pattern of wide spectrum of neovessels based on blood flow data and density maps. It is potentially useful to detect ischemic changes in the vascular bed and regression of NVD after therapeutic regimens providing substitute for invasive techniques. 展开更多

Swept wing is widely used in civil aircraft,whose airfoil is chosen,designed and optimized to increase the cruise speed and decrease the drag coefficient.The parameters of swept wing,such as sweep angle and angle of attack,are determined according to the cruise lift coefficient requirement,and the drag coefficient is expected to be predicted accurately,which involves the instability characteristics and transition position of the flow.The pressure coefficient of the RAE2822 wing with given constant lift coefficient is obtained by solving the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equation numerically,and then the mean flow is calculated by solving the boundary layer(BL) equation with spectral method.The cross-flow instability characteristic of boundary layer of swept wing in the windward and leeward is analyzed by linear stability theory(LST),and the transition position is predicted by eNmethod.The drag coefficient is numerically predicted by introducing a laminar/turbulent indicator.A simple approach to calculate the lift coefficient of swept wing is proposed.It is found that there is a quantitative relationship between the angle of attack and sweep angle when the lift coefficient keeps constant;when the angle of attack is small,the flow on the leeward of the wing is stable.when the angle of attack is larger than 3°,the flow becomes unstable quickly;with the increase of sweep angle or angle of attack the disturbance on the windward becomes more unstable,leading to the moving forward of the transition position to the leading edge of the wing;the drag coefficient has two significant jumping growth due to the successive occurrence of transition in the windward and the leeward;the optimal range of sweep angle for civil aircraft is suggested. 展开更多

Firstly, the PDGI of the regular swept surface is constructed from point cloud, then the bounding box of the Gaussian sphere is uniformly partitioned into a number of small cubes (3D grids) and the PDGI points on the Gaussian sphere are associated with the corresponding 3D grids. Secondly, cluster analysis technique is used to sort out a group of 3D grids containing more PDGI points among the 3D grids. By the connected-region growing algorithm, the congregation point or the great circle is detected from the 3D grids. Thus the translational direction is determined by the congregation point and the direction of the rotational axis is determined by the great circle. In addition, the positional point of the rotational axis is obtained by the intersection of all the projected normal lines of the rotational surface on the plane being perpendicular to the estimated direction of the rotational axis. Finally, a pattem search method is applied to optimize the translational direction and the rotational axis. Some experiments are used to illustrate the feasibility of the above algorithm. 展开更多

Swept volume solid modeling has been applied to many areas such as NC machining simulation and verification, robot workspace analysis, collision detection, and CAD. But self-intersections continue to be a challenging problem in the boundary representation of swept volume solids. A novel algorithm is presented in this paper to trim self-intersection regions in swept volume solids modeling. This trimming algorithm consists of two major steps: (1) roughly detecting self-intersection regions by checking intersections or overlapping of the envelop profiles; (2) splitting the whole envelop surfaces of the swept volume solid into separate non-self-intersecting patches to trim global self-intersections, and to trim local self-intersections, dividing local self-intersecting regions into patches and replacing self-intersecting patches with non-self-intersecting ones. The nth-order expansion of the parabolized stability equation (EPSEn) is obtained from the Taylor expansion of the linear parabolized stability equation (LPSE) in the streamwise direction. The EPSE together with the homogeneous boundary conditions forms a local eigenvalue problem, in which the streamwise variations of the mean flow and the disturbance shape function are considered. The first-order EPSE (EPSE1) and the second-order EPSE (EPSE2) are used to study the crossflow instability in the swept NLF(2)-0415 wing boundary layer. The non-parallelism degree of the boundary layer is strong. Compared with the growth rates predicted by the linear stability theory (LST), the results given by the EPSE1 and EPSE2 agree well with those given by the LPSE. In particular, the results given by the EPSE2 are almost the same as those given by the LPSE. The prediction of the EPSE1 is more accurate than the prediction of the LST, and is more efficient than the predictions of the EPSE2 and LPSE. Therefore, the EPSE1 is an efficient ey prediction tool for the crossflow instability in swept-wing boundary-layer flows. 展开更多

Effect of an end plate on surface pressure distributions of two swept wings

A series of wind tunnel tests was conducted to examine how an end plate affects the pressure distributions of two wings with leading edge(LE) sweep angles of 23° and 40°. All the experiments were carried out at a midchord Reynolds number of 8×10~5, covering an angle of attack(AOA) range from -2° to 14°. Static pressure distribution measurements were acquired over the upper surfaces of the wings along three chordwise rows and one spanwise direction at the wing quarter-chord line. The results of the tests confirm that at a particular AOA, increasing the sweep angle causes a noticeable decrease in the upper-surface suction pressure. Furthermore, as the sweep angle increases, the development of a laminar separation bubble near the LEs of the wings takes place at higher AOAs. On the other hand, spanwise pressure measurements show that increasing the wing sweep angle results in forming a stronger vortex on the quarter-chord line which has lower sensitivity to AOA variation and remains substantially attached to the wing surface for higher AOAs than that can be achieved in the case of a lower sweep angle. In addition, data obtained indicate that installing an end plate further reinforces the spanwise flow over the wing surface, thus affecting the pressure distribution. 展开更多

Theoretical Study of Wind Turbine Model with a New Concept on Swept Area

Commercially available wind-turbines are optimized to operate at certain wind velocity, known as rated wind velocity. For other values of wind velocity, it has different output which is lower than the rated output of the wind plant. Wind mill can be designed to provide maximum power output at different wind velocities through modification of swept area to match with the wind speed available at the moment. This can result in higher power output at all the velocities except that at rated wind speed because of limitation of generator. This results in increased utilization of generation capacity of wind mill compared to its commercially designed counterpart. A theoretical simulation has been done to prove a new concept about swept area of wind turbine blade which results in a significant increase in the power output through the year. Simulation results of power extracted through normal wind blade design and new concept are studied and compared. The findings of the study are presented in graphical and tabular form. Study establishes that there can be a significant gain in the power output with the new concept. 展开更多

In this work,a new structure is used to enhance the nonlinear effect in the cavity,which improvesthe performance of the 1.3μm broadband swept source.The swept source adopts a semiconductoroptical amplifier(SOA),a circulator,a coupler,and a tunable filter.In the structure,the lightpasses through the nonlinear medium(SOA)twice in two opposite directions,which excites thenonlinear ffect and increases the performance of the swept source.The tunable filter is based on apolygon rotating mirror and gratings.Traditionally,multiple SOAs are adopted to improve thesweep range and the optical power,which increases the cost and complexity of the swept source.The method proposed in this paper can improve the spectral range and optical power of the sweptsources without additional accessories.For the short-cavity swept source,the power increasesfrom 6 mW to 7.7 mW,and the sweep range increases from 98 nm to 120 nm.The broadband swept sources could have wide applications in biomedical imaging,sensor system,measurementand so on. 展开更多

A novel broad tunable bandwidth and narrow instantaneous line-width linear swept laser source using combined tunable filters working at 1,300 nm center wavelength is proposed.The combined filters consist of a fiber FabryPerot tunable filter and a tunable filter based on diffractive grating with scanning polygon mirror.In contrast to traditional method using single tunable filter,the trade-off between bandwidth and instantaneous line-width is alleviated.Parallel implementation of two semiconductor optical amplifiers with different wavelength range is adopted in the laser resonator for broadband light amplification.The Fourier domain mode locking swept laser source with combined tunable filters offers broadband tunable range with narrow instantaneous line-width,which is especially benefiting for high-quality optical frequency domain imaging.The proposed Fourier domain mode locking swept laser source provides a tuning range of 160 nm with instantaneous line-width of about 0.01nm at sweeping rate of 15 kHz,a finesse of 16,000 is thus achieved. 展开更多

The effect of expanding swept volume by iNanoW1.0 nanoparticles in ultra-low permeability core was studied by low-field nuclear magnetic resonance(LF-NMR)technology,and the mechanism of expanding swept volume was explained by oxygen spectrum nuclear magnetic resonance(17O-NMR)experiments and capillarity analysis.The results of the LF-NMR experiment show that the nano-sized oil-displacement agent iNanoW1.0 could increase the swept volume by 10%-20%on the basis of conventional water flooding,making water molecules get into the low permeable region with small pores that conventional water flooding could not reach.17O-NMR technique and capillary analysis proved that iNanoW1.0 nanoparticles could weaken the association of hydrogen bonds between water molecules,effectively change the structure of water molecular clusters,and thus increasing the swept volume in the low permeable region.The ability of weakening association of hydrogen bonds between water molecules of iNanoW1.0 nanoparticles increases with its mass fraction and tends to be stable after the mass fraction of 0.1%. 展开更多
