The observed GPS velocity field and gravity field in Yushu areas are disturbed by the coand post-seismic effects induced by Yushu earthquake, thus the theoretical coand post-seismic deformation and gravity changes will provide important modification for the background tectonic movement of Yushu and surrounding regions. The time relaxation results show that the influences of Yushu earthquake on Yushu and surrounding areas will last as long as 30 to 50 years. This investigation employs the fractal analysis of drainage system extracted from ASTER Global Digital Elevation Model (GDEM-30m resolution). The objective is to mark active structures and to pinpoint the areas robustly influenced by neotectonics. This approach was examined in the Hindukush, NE-Afghanistan. This region is frequently affected by deadly earthquakes and the modern fault activities and deformation are driven by the collision between the northward-moving Indian subcontinent and Eurasia. This attempt is based on the fact that drainage system is strained to linearize due to neotectonic deformation. Hence, the low fractal dimensions of the Kabul, Panjsher, Laghman, Andarab, Alingar and Kocha Rivers are credited to active tectonics. A comprehensive textural examination is conducted to probe the linearization, heterogeneity and connectivity of the drainage patterns. The aspects for these natural textures are computed by using the fractal dimension (FD), lacunarity (LA) and succolarity (SA) approach. All these methods are naturally interrelated, i.e. objects with similar FD can be further differentiated with LA and/or SA analysis. The maps of FD, LA and SA values are generated by using a sliding window of 50 arc seconds by 50 arc seconds (50" × 50"). Afterwards, the maps are interpreted in terms of regional susceptibility to neotectonics. This method is useful to pinpoint numerous zones where the drainage system is highly controlled by Hindukush active structures. In the North-Northeast of the Kabul block, we recognized active tectonic blocks. The region comprising, Kabul, Panjsher, Andrab, Alingar and Badakhshan is more susceptible to damaging events. This investigation concludes that the fractal analysis of the river networks is a bonus tool to localize areas vulnerable to deadly incidents influencing the Earth’s topography and consequently intimidate human lives.展开更多

The 1-Hz GNSS data from eight CGPS stations, which are located between 30 km and 200 km from the hypocenter, were processed within quasi-real-time. The near-field surface deformation indicated the following characteristics : the near-field movements were limited to several centimeters ; the peak of the deformation wave was significantly larger than the static permanent offset; at the beginning of the event, the north wall of the fault moved to the southeast as the south wall moved to the southwest ; station SCTQ, which was the closest station to the hypocenter at 30 km, had the largest static permanent displacement of 2 cm; the peaks of the deformation waves were 1.5 cm, 5 cm and 3 cm, to the east, the south and vertically upward, respectively ; and the peaks of velocity and acceleration, derived from the deformation, were 3.4 cm/s and 5.3 cm/s^2,respectively.展开更多

Here, we develop a three-dimensional viscoelastic model to explore the mechanical relations between the lower crustal flow and the surface deformation in western Sichuan. Based on numerous tests, our results show that the modeled results fit well with the observed GPS data when the lower crust flows faster than the upper crust about 11 mm/a in the rhombic block, which can be useful to understand the possible mechanism of the surface deformation in western Siehuan. Moreover, taking the Xianshuihe fault as an example, we preliminarily analyze the relation between the active fault and stress field, according to the boundary constraints that deduced from the best model. The results show that the maximum shear stress on the Xianshuihe fault zone is mainly located in the fault terminal, intersections and the bend of the fault geometry, the stress level on the northwestern segment that has the high slip rate is relatively high. Additionally, with the reduction of the Young's modulus in the fault zone, it's conducive to generate the greater strain distribution, hence forming the high stress level.展开更多

Although observations based on interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar(InSAR) are an excellent tool for monitoring deformation, the shadow phenomena can limit its application. Based on a series of geomorphic parameters and limited InSAR observation data, surface deformations were reconstructed in areas with missing observations by constructing a random forest model to compensate for the shadow phenomenon at the grid-scale. The findings suggest that this method can be used to rebuild landscape variation characteristics in places where observation data is lacking. The dominant slope direction in the observation area corresponded to a more significant correlation between the reconstructed topography deformation characteristics and the observation. In addition, when building this model, consideration was given to the geomorphic parameter selection, elevation variation, hypsometric integral value, slope form, lithology, slope variation, and aspect variation;these parameters can significantly affect the surface deformation, which is closely related to their spatial autocorrelation. These findings are significant for eliminating the shadow phenomenon, which often occurs in In SAR observations taken over alpine canyon regions. The terrain and lithology of the underlying surface should be considered when reconstructing the surface deformation characteristics of the shadow region by using satellite observation data.展开更多

This devastating earthquake killed hun- dreds of people, injured 10 thousand others, and collapsed countless buildings. In order to analyze the potential risk of this big earthquake, we calculate the co- and post-seismic surface deformation and gravity changes of this event. In this work, a multilayered crustal model is designed, and the elastic dislocation theory is utilized to calculate the co- and post-seismic deformations and gravity changes. During the process, a rupture model obtained by seismic waveform inversion (Liu et al. Sci China Earth Sci 56(7): 1187-1192, 2013) is applied. The time-dependent relaxation results show that the influences on Lushan and its surrounding areas caused by the Ms7.0 Lushan earthquake will last as long as 10 years. The maximum horizontal displacement, vertical uplift, and settlement are about 5 cm, 21.24 cm, and 0.16 m, respectively; the maximal positive and nega- tive values of gravity changes are 45 and -0.47 μGal, respectively. These results may be applied to evaluate the long-term potential risk caused by this earthquake and to provide necessary information for post-earthquake reconstruction.展开更多

It is of significance to study the evolution laws and failure mechanism of landslides based on its surface 3D deformation information. Based on the rainfall-triggered waste dump instability model test, we studied the failure mechanisms of the waste dump by integrating surface deformation and internal slope stress and proposed novel parameters for identifying landslide stability. We developed a noncontact measurement device, which can obtain millimeter-level 3D deformation data for surface scene in physical model test; Then we developed the similar materials and established a test model for a waste dump. Based on the failure characteristics of slope surface, internal stress of slope body and displacement contours during the whole process, we divided the slope instability process in model test into four stages: rainfall infiltration and surface erosion, shallow sliding, deep sliding, and overall instability. Based on the obtained surface deformation data, we calculated the volume change during slope instability process and compared it with the point displacement on slope surface. The results showed that the volume change can not only reflect the slow-ultra acceleration process of slope failure, but also fully reflect the above four stages and reduce the fluctuations caused by random factors. Finally, this paper proposed two stability identification parameters: the volume change rate above the slip surface and the relative velocity of volume change rate. According to the calculation of these two parameters in model test, they can be used for study the deformation and failure mechanism of slope stability.展开更多

Two key parameters to be determined are the rupture depth and dip angle of earthquake faults. Dislocation theory in an elastic half space indicates that if a seismic rupture directly runs up to the ground surface, there exist zero points of horizontal strain in the surface deformation, which correspond to the rupture depths, except for pure strike-slip faults. In this study, we use numerical simulations to investigate the possibility of inferring rupture depths from zero-strain points for cases of buried faults and heterogeneous media. The results show that the correspondence of zero-strain points to the rupture depths can be influenced by the heterogeneity of the underground media and the stress field. For buried faults, the correspondence relationship is approximately valid when the fault depth is <1 km. In addition, the range of earthquake fault dip angles can be estimated by horizontal displacements on the ground. We also study how to determine the rupture depths of faults from InSAR data after large earthquakes, and successfully apply the method to the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake. The method proposed here, which determines the parameters of fault geometry according to surface deformation, is simple and easy to perform. With independent of aftershocks, it can provide valuable constraints to kinematic inversions.展开更多

This investigation concludes that the fractal analysis of the river networks is a bonus tool to localize areas vulnerable to deadly incidents influencing the Earth’s topography and consequently intimidate human lives.
文摘A sensing system is developed to measure the weld pool boundary and pool suoface deformation in gas tungsten arc welding. LaserStrobe technique is used to eliminate the strong arc light inteoference, and specular reflection from the pool suoface is sensed to describe the relation between the deformed stripes and pool surface depression. Clear images of both the pool boundary and the deformed stripes edges are obtained during gas tungsten arc welding process, which lays foundation for realtime monitoring the pool suoface depression and weld penetration.

文摘The April 20, 2013, Ms7.0 Lushan earthquake was successfully recorded by closely spaced Continuous Global Positioning System (CGPS) stations owned by the Crustal Movement Observation Network of Chi- na (CMONC). The 1-Hz GNSS data from eight CGPS stations, which are located between 30 km and 200 km from the hypocenter, were processed within quasi-real-time. The near-field surface deformation indicated the following characteristics : the near-field movements were limited to several centimeters ; the peak of the deformation wave was significantly larger than the static permanent offset; at the beginning of the event, the north wall of the fault moved to the southeast as the south wall moved to the southwest ; station SCTQ, which was the closest station to the hypocenter at 30 km, had the largest static permanent displacement of 2 cm; the peaks of the deformation waves were 1.5 cm, 5 cm and 3 cm, to the east, the south and vertically upward, respectively ; and the peaks of velocity and acceleration, derived from the deformation, were 3.4 cm/s and 5.3 cm/s^2,respectively.

文摘The channel flow model was gradually being accepted with the more important multidisci- plinary evidences from geology and geophysics, but how the lower crustal flow influenced the surface deformation quantitatively was unknown. Additionally, with the reduction of the Young's modulus in the fault zone, it's conducive to generate the greater strain distribution, hence forming the high stress level.

文摘Monitoring deformation in high undulating mountainous environments is critical for surface process research and disaster prevention studies. The terrain and lithology of the underlying surface should be considered when reconstructing the surface deformation characteristics of the shadow region by using satellite observation data.

文摘On April 20, 2013, an earthquake with mag- nitude 7.0 occurred in the southwest of the Longmenshan fault system in and around Lushan County, Sichuan Province, China. These results may be applied to evaluate the long-term potential risk caused by this earthquake and to provide necessary information for post-earthquake reconstruction.

文摘The surface deformation after fully mechanized back filling mining was analyzed. The surface deformation for different backfill materials was predicted by an equivalent mining height model and numerical simulations. The results suggest that:(1) As the elastic modulus,E,of the backfill material increases the surface subsidence decreases. The rate of subsidence decrease drops after E is larger than 5 GPa;(2) Fully mechanized back fill mining technology can effectively control surface deformation. The resulting surface deformation is within the specification grade I,which means surface maintenance is not needed.A site survey showed that the equivalent mining height model is capable of predicting and analyzing surface deformation and that the model is conservative enough for engineering safety. Finally, the significance of establishing a complete error correction system based on error analysis and correction is discussed.
文摘A flew numerical method for constructing a pressure distribution to calculate surface elastic deformationcaused by normal contact pressure is developed in this paper. The pressure distribution over one of nonequidistantrectangles is fitted by an approximate tangent plane(ATP), which is formed by five pressure samples. Because thepressure distribution could be expressed as an one order linear polynomial, the iterative expression of elasticdeformation deduced by this method is simple, and the numerical accuracy is higher.

文摘To elucidate the mechanisms of regulating the microstructure uniformity in 7050 aluminum forgings through surface cumulative plastic deformation(SCPD),the microstructure under different solution treatments was investigated using metallographic observation(OM),electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),and X-ray diffraction(XRD).The findings demonstrate that the most uniform microstructure in the forgings is achieved with a solution treatment at 470℃for 30 min.The SCPD process generates a significant number of needle-shaped precipitates, resulting in a higher dislocation density and stored energy.Solution treatments alleviate the pinning effect of second-phase particles and facilitate static recrystallization(SRX)in forgings, leading to a reduction in grain size.Additionally, mechanical testing results demonstrate 7%−13%increase in tensile strength and more uniform elongation of the forgings in different directions.

文摘Landslide is the second largest natural disaster after earthquake. According to the calculation of these two parameters in model test, they can be used for study the deformation and failure mechanism of slope stability.

文摘Al-Mg-Zn-based alloys are newly developed high-performance age-hardenable 5xxx series alloys.How-ever,they suffer from poor surface quality due to the Lüders bands and the Portevin-Le-Chatelier(PLC)effect during plastic deformation, and the elongation(EL)is impaired by the large constituent particles. In this work, various homogenization regimes combined with minor addition of Zr were employed to manipulate the microstructural evolution of Al-7Mg-2Zn-0.15Zr alloy and thus the deformation character-istics.The results demonstrate that a two-step homogenization treatment of 400℃/12 h+465℃/12 h can sufficiently dissolve the constituent phase and eliminate the micro-segregation,as well as achieve a fine and uniform distribution of Al_(3)Zr dispersoids, which results in the enhanced yield strength(YS)of 201 MPa and ultimate strength(UTS)of 376 MPa after rolling and annealing. Most importantly,it has been revealed that the dispersed Al_(3)Zr formed via two-step homogenization is favorable to impede the movement of dislocations, which extends the waiting time, increases the stress amplitude, and thus di-minishes the number of PLC bands. Moreover, the dislocation network induced by dispersed Al_(3)Zr can further inhibit the movement of active dislocations, which inhibits the formation of Lüders bands. This study provides a simple and effective homogenization regime to optimize the mechanical response and surface quality of alloys with high-Mg contents.

文摘The contact problem of deformed rough surfaces exists widely in complex engineering structures. How to reveal the influence mechanism of surface deformation on the contact properties is a key issue in evaluating the interface performances of the engineering structures. In this paper,a contact model is established, which is suitable for tensile and bending deformed contact surfaces.Four contact forms of asperities are proposed, and their distribution characteristics are analyzed. This model reveals the mechanism of friction generation from the perspective of the force balance of asperity. The results show the contact behaviors of the deformed contact surface are significantly different from that of the plane contact, which is mainly reflected in the change in the number of contact asperities and the real contact area. This study suggests that the real contact area of the interface can be altered by applying tensile and bending strains, thereby regulating its contact mechanics and conductive behavior.
文摘This paper presents the results of numerical simulations carried out to confirm the influence of former mining activities on deformation of the mining terrain. The assessment of deformation changes was carried out with the use of FLAC3 D program based on the finite difference method.Numerical calculations were carried out for the example of actual mining operations in seams 703/1-2 and 707/2 of‘‘Marcel"Coal Mine.Taking into account the influence of the model’s plastic features and the so-called activation of a higher occurring seam in conducted simulations enabled obtaining a very good description of the measured subsidence.Based on the results one may state that numerical model can be used to assess the influence of former mining activities and the direction of conducted exploitation on deformations of the mining terrain. These factors are not recognized by geometric-integral theories commonly used for predicting the influence of mining operations on the surface. The results presented in this paper confirm that the applied method of simulating the phenomenon of reactivation of post-mining goafs is correct.

文摘The rupture dimensions of earthquake faults are important parameters for characterizing earthquake ruptures and ground motions. With independent of aftershocks, it can provide valuable constraints to kinematic inversions.
