The models discussed in this paper include BedZED in the United Kingdom and Masdar City in the Middle East. These two communities contain features characterized by the sustainable principles of the ecovillage concept by using non-traditional building materials. The creations of more ecovillages, along with the growth of current ecovillages, play an important role in positively solvening environmental and social problems. The sustainable materials used in the ecovillages also act as a model for communities wishing to implement sustainable development.展开更多

According to the characteristics of the railway transportation industry and the nature of railway materials supply, a fund rolling budget model for railway materials procurement management is established. Based on the operation mode of the supply fund of the material company, the fund rolling budget management mode was established, in which the supply activities were guided by the operation mode, the business flow was guided by the annual budget, the monthly budget was used to control the fund flow, and the fund flow served the strategic objective of closed-loop management, and the supply fund budget management mechanism was optimized, which played a positive role in Guangzhou Railway Material Co., Ltd. achieving the strategic objective of protecting the railway transportation.展开更多
Supply–demand allocation is important for supporting emergency food material management and decision making.This study proposed a supply–demand allocation method for market-supplied materials.The method considers th...Supply–demand allocation is important for supporting emergency food material management and decision making.This study proposed a supply–demand allocation method for market-supplied materials.The method considers the constraint that market supply reserve depots(MSDs)need to preferentially supply emergency food materials to original demand points,which is mostly neglected in traditional methods.The constraint enables the method to provide a more rational allocation scheme of MSDs.Based on the supply–demand allocation method,an emergency material distribution path planning method under food scenarios was further developed.Unlike the traditional methods,which mostly neglect simultaneous consideration of the travel time and path reliability factors,this method comprehensively achieves two critical objectives:the shortest path travel time and highest path reliability.The heuristic algorithms are used to solve the optimal path.It can enhance the safety and reliability of food material distributions.Three criteria—degree,squares clustering coefcient,and road design daily trafc volume—are integrated to evaluate the reliability of each road section based on the real road networks,and the impact of the food on travel time is fully considered.A case study in Fengxian District,Shanghai,China,was conducted to demonstrate the feasibility of the method.Three categories of supplies—rice,drinking water,and infant milk—were chosen to represent the food supplies.The results of the case study can support decision making for emergency rescue and relief eforts of relevant government departments.The methods proposed provide methodological references for related studies in other similar regions.展开更多

Rural China has long had complex and diverse rural industries whose existence and development is founded on rural society. Complex and varied rural industries have long existed in rural China, where local society provides the social foundation for their existence and development. One example is the processing of supplied materials or putting-out system(lailiao jiagong 来料加工) in remote rural areas under the jurisdiction of City L, Zhejiang. In recent years, industries in the developed areas of Zhejiang have expanded to remote villages through processing to order, driving the growth of rural industries in remote areas. The processing of supplied materials is a link in the global production chain. Flexible decentralized processing links surplus rural labor in remote areas to the vast global market. The industry’s production process is deeply embedded in local society;interpersonal relationships and social ethics facilitate production management, forming a social foundation for the development of rural industry. Social ethics in these areas takes the particular operational form of sensitive cultivation of personal relationships or 'human feelings.' The processing of supplied materials has shaped the distinctive character of rural development and provides a route for social transformation. To implement the strategy of rural revitalization, besides provision of land, finance and industrial policy, China needs to handle the social foundation of rural areas rationally, make full use of rural social resources and stimulate endogenous motivation in rural society.展开更多
