The sulfate radical-based photocatalytic process is supposed to be the most promising way to degrade organic pollutants. However, the development of a suitable and efficient photocatalyst is very challenging. The 40LaFeO_(3)-CuFe_(2)O_(4)(40LFO-CFO)nanocomposite was constructed and its catalytic performance was studied using Rhodamine B(RhB)as the target pollutant.40LFO-CFO exhibited excellent RhB degradation by the persulfate(PS)-assisted photocatalytic process compared to the pristine LFO and CFO.The degradation rate constant for RhB by 40LFO-CFO in the Vis/PS system was 2.22h^(-1)which is 3.04 times and 5.05 times higher than the pristine LFO(0.73 h^(-1))and CFO(0.44h^(-1)),respectively.Furthermore,the trapping experiments and EPR spectra proved that h^(+) plays a leading role in the bleaching of RhB for the 40LFO-CFO/PS/Vis system. The enhanced photocatalytic oxidation activity of 40LFO-CFO could be attributed to the unique charge carriers flow in 40LFO-CFO due to the Z-scheme and the cooperation effect between photocatalysis and PS activation. The recycle tests confessed the stability of 40LFO-CFO.Additionally,the intermediates and products of RhB are detected by liquid chromatographymass spectrometry(LC-MS),and the photocatalytic degradation routes of RhB for the 40LFO-CFO/Vis/PS system were proposed. Moreover, the 40LFO-CFO nanocomposite has a superior catalytic performance for other organics, suggesting that it is a promising heterocatalyst because of its high catalytic activity and stability for the PS-assisted photocatalytic process. 展开更多

The sulfated CeO_(2)/Al_(2)O_(3) catalysts with different sizes of CeO_(2)nanoparticles were prepared by using pure H_2O or acetic acid solution as impregnation solvent, and the influence of sizes of CeO_(2) nanoparticles on the catalytic performances of the sulfated CeO_(2)/Al_(2)O_(3) catalyst was studied. The catalytic performance tests show that the sulfated CeO_(2)/Al_(2)O_(3) catalyst using acetic acid solution as impregnation solvent has better catalytic activity and the resistance to K+poisoning than the sulfated CeO_(2)/Al_(2)O_(3) catalyst using pure H_(2)O as impregnation solvent. The excellent catalytic performances can be ascribed to the smaller sizes of CeO_(2) nanoparticles in CeO_(2)/Al_(2)O_(3) catalyst using acetic acid solution, which results in larger amount of adsorbed sulfate species, surface acid sites, surface active oxygen species and excellent redox property. These features are helpful for improving the catalytic performances of sulfated CeO_(2)/Al_(2)O_(3) catalyst using smaller amount of CeO_(2) to cut the costs. 展开更多

A titania slag product of Rosetta ilmenite assaying 72% TiO_(2) is treated by the sulfate process option of the pigmentary TiO_(2) manufacture. The relevant factors of acid concentration, particle size,slag/acid ratio besides the reaction temperature, and time have been studied. After dissolving the cured mass in dilute acid and clarification, the obtained solution was subjected to hydrolysis of its titanium content. The final product was bleached under reducing conditions to redissolve the residual coloring impurities before being dewatered and calcinated. The obtained results indicated that a leaching efficiency of about 92% was realized due to the presence of some refractory components in the working slag material, namely, rutile and magnesium iron titanate. The obtained white pigment assay attained up to 99.85% TiO_(2),while the analyzed impurities involve 77ppm Mn and only 14 and 7ppm of total iron and V,respectively. 展开更多

This study described a hydrometallurgical method to investigate the separation of rare earth elements(REEs)from rare earth polishing powder wastes(REPPWs)containing large amounts of rare earth oxides with a major phase of CeO2 and minor phases of La2O3,Pr2O3,and Nd2O3 using a process devised by the authors. The suggested approach consisted of five processes:the synthesis of NaR E(SO4)2·xH2O from rare earth oxides in Na2SO4-H2SO4-H2 O solutions(Process 1),the conversion of NaR E(SO4)2·xH2O into RE(OH)3 using NaO H(Process 2),and the oxidation of Ce(OH)3 into Ce(OH)4 using air with O2 injection(Process 3),followed by Processes 4 and 5 for separation of REEs by acid leaching using HCl and H2SO4,respectively.To confirm the high yield of NaR E(SO4)2·xH2O in Process 1,experiments were carried out under various Na2SO4 concentrations(0.4–2.5 mol/L),sulfuric acid concentrations(6–14 mol/L),and reaction temperatures(95–125 oC).In addition, the effect of the pH value on the separation of Ce(OH)4 in HCl-H2 O solutions with Ce(OH)4,La-,Pr-,and Nd(OH)3 in Process 4 was also investigated. On the basis of above results, the possibility of effective separation of REEs from REPPWs could be confirmed. 展开更多
