Concept,Grouping and Subgrouping of Ecological Technology

Although modern technology has an important role in human economic and social development,it can result in significant ecological damage.Thus,research has begun to focus on so-called"ecological technologies"... Although modern technology has an important role in human economic and social development,it can result in significant ecological damage.Thus,research has begun to focus on so-called"ecological technologies"to repair the degraded land and fragmented ecological environment and build a green mode of production and development.However,the concept of"ecological technology"is currently ill-defined,given the many different research fields involved.Therefore,here we divide ecological technologies into broad versus narrow technologies in terms of their impact on economic and social development and the related needs of production and ecological governance.We redefine each concept and clarify their aims and extensions,before further dividing them into three groups and seven subgroups,and clarifying the functions of each.The grouping and subgrouping of ecological technology will lay a foundation for the technology selection,collocation,implementation,promotion,monitoring and evaluation of ecological engineering planning and design. 展开更多

Background Deep learning(DL)based on MRI of medulloblastoma enables risk stratification,potentially aiding in therapeutic decisions.This study aims to develop DL models that identify four medulloblastoma molecular subgroups and prognostic-related genetic signatures.Methods This retrospective study enrolled 325 patients for model development and an independent external validation cohort of 124 patients,totaling 449 MB patients from 2 medical institutes.Consecutive patients with newly diagnosed MB at MRI(T1-weighted,T2-weighted,and contrast-enhanced T1-weighted)at two medical institutes between January 2015 and June 2023 were identified.Two-stage sequential DL models were designed—MB-CNN that first identifies wingless(WNT),sonic hedgehog(SHH),Group 3,and Group 4.Further,prognostic-related genetic signatures using DL models(MB-CNN_TP53/MYC/Chr11)were developed to predict TP53 mutation,MYC amplification,and chromosome 11 loss status.A hybrid model combining MB-CNN and conventional data(clinical information and MRI features)was compared to a logistic regression model constructed only with conventional data.Four-classification tasks were evaluated with confusion matrices(accuracy)and two-classification tasks with ROC curves(area under the curve(AUC)).Results The datasets comprised 449 patients(mean age±SD at diagnosis,13.55 years±2.33,249 males).MB-CNN accurately classified MB subgroups in the external test dataset,achieving a median accuracy of 77.50%(range in 76.29%to 78.71%).MB-CNN_TP53/MYC/Chr11 models effectively predicted signatures(AUC of TP53 in SHH:0.91,MYC amplification in Group 3:0.87,chromosome 11 loss in Group 4:0.89).The accuracy of the hybrid model outperformed the logistic regression model(82.20%vs.59.14%,P=.009)and showed comparable performance to MB-CNN(82.20%vs.77.50%,P=0.105).Conclusion MRI-based DL models allowed identification of the molecular medulloblastoma subgroups and prognostic-related genetic signatures. 展开更多

The Shenshan Group provides important geological information which is vital in unraveling the amalgamation and subsequent rifting processes of South China.While conventional studies have asserted its formation in a subduction setting,the distinct investigation reveals the necessity for reassessment.To address this,the authors employ integrated methods encompassing petrological,zircon U-Pb geochronological,Lu-Hf isotopic and geochemical methods for sedimentary rocks from the upper Shenshan subgroup and Banxi Group.The geochemical results indicate that they were formed through the recycling deposition of intermediate-acidic igneous source material and experienced moderate chemical weathering.Additionally,both sedimentary sequences exhibit characteristics consistent with those formed in an intracontinental extensional rift setting since ca.810 Ma.The provenance analysis indicates that the upper Shenshan subgroup primarily originates from the Yangtze Domain,while the Banxi Group from both the Yangtze and Cathaysia domains.Synthesizing with previous studies,the Shenshan Group should be subdivided into the lower and upper subgroups which represent distinct tectonic backgrounds.The lower subgroup is inferred to have formed in an Early Neoproterozoic fore-arc setting,akin to the Zhoutan group.The upper subgroup corresponds to the Banxi Group,representing the Middle Neoproterozoic postorogenic rift setting,responding to the breakup of Rodinia. 展开更多

Subgroup Analysis of a Single-Index Threshold Penalty Quantile Regression Model Based on Variable Selection

In clinical research,subgroup analysis can help identify patient groups that respond better or worse to specific treatments,improve therapeutic effect and safety,and is of great significance in precision medicine.This article considers subgroup analysis methods for longitudinal data containing multiple covariates and biomarkers.We divide subgroups based on whether a linear combination of these biomarkers exceeds a predetermined threshold,and assess the heterogeneity of treatment effects across subgroups using the interaction between subgroups and exposure variables.Quantile regression is used to better characterize the global distribution of the response variable and sparsity penalties are imposed to achieve variable selection of covariates and biomarkers.The effectiveness of our proposed methodology for both variable selection and parameter estimation is verified through random simulations.Finally,we demonstrate the application of this method by analyzing data from the PA.3 trial,further illustrating the practicality of the method proposed in this paper. 展开更多

Purpose:To explore how different types of research funding affect research papers,with implications for optimizing funding policies and promoting sustainable research development.Design/methodology/approach:We used social network analysis and citation analysis to compare the influence of funded and non-funded papers,as well as among different funding types.Multidimensional scaling and cohesive subgroup analysis revealed thematic differences.Findings:Funded papers do not always show higher academic influence than non-funded ones,but multifunded papers perform better than single-funded ones.Papers funded by international institutions and HKMT have a greater impact on the international academic community.Funded papers emphasize innovation and interdisciplinarity;non-funded papers focus more on classical theory application.Research limitations:This study used only the WoS Core Collection,potentially missing other funding sources.Practical implications:The findings inform the refinement of funding policies and support strategies that encourage impactful and innovative research.Originality/value:This study offers a multi-level empirical analysis of how funding shapes research influence and thematic trends. 展开更多

Avian leukosis is an important tumorigenic disease caused by the avian leukosis virus(ALV)in poultry.ALVs belong to the retroviral family and are classified into 11 subgroups(ALV-A to ALV-K).Among them,ALV-J was first introduced into China in 1999,spreading widely and evolving from infecting meat-type chickens to layer chickens and Chinese local chickens.ALV-J typically induces myeloid leukosis in infected chickens,but also induces a high proportion of hemangiomas in infected layer chickens,posing a serious threat to poultry breeds in China.As a retrovirus,the genome of ALV-J has undergone significant mutations,which may be related to the expansion of the infection host range and increased pathogenicity of ALV-J.Over the last two decades,the introduction and spread of ALV-J in China have caused substantial losses to the poultry industry.Specialized detection assays have been developed to combat ALV-J infections in China.Additionally,ongoing research aims to employ gene-editing technology as a novel antiviral strategy to control the spread of ALV infections.This review highlights the importance of understanding the impact of ALV-J on the Chinese poultry industry and emphasizes the need for ongoing research and innovation to safeguard poultry health and promote sustainable poultry farming practices in China. 展开更多

Predictive ability of lipid indices for large-for-gestational-age infants in pregnant females with gestational diabetes mellitus

BACKGROUND The primary complication associated with gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM)is delivery of an infant that is large for gestational age(LGA).Epidemiological findings have demonstrated that irregular lipid metabolism significantly con-tributes to insulin resistance,a key pathophysiological mechanism in GDM.However,the correlation between various lipid indices and the probability of delivering LGA infants remains inconsistent.AIM To explore the relationships between lipid indices and the possibility of having LGA infants among GDM-affected pregnant females.METHODS Binary logistic regression methods were employed to evaluate the odds ratios and corresponding 95%confidence intervals for LGA according to five lipid indices.Restricted cubic spline models were applied to investigate dose-response relationships.The association between lipid indices and the risk of delivering LGA infants was further investigated among different subgroups.Receiver operating characteristic curves were utilized to assess the diagnostic performance of lipid indices.RESULTS Across crude and adjusted models,females with lipid indices in the upper two tertiles presented a markedly elevated risk of delivering LGA infants compared with the lowest tertile category.Conversely,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels demonstrated the contrary trend.Restricted cubic spline analyses revealed linear associations between the five lipid indices,except triglyceride levels,and the prevalence of LGA.The subgroup analysis highlighted that the correlation between lipid indices and the probability of LGA was inconsistent.The five lipid indices presented significant diagnostic efficacy,as indicated by receiver operating characteristic curve areas.CONCLUSION Our research demonstrated that lipid indices were effective predictors of the incidence of LGA infants in GDM-affected pregnancies irrespective of potential confounding factors. 展开更多

Objective To assess relationships between cold spells and genitourinary hospitalization risk.Methods Hospitalization records for genitourinary system diseases(GUDs)from 16 districts in Beijing(2013–2018)were analyzed.Cold spells were defined based on varying intensity thresholds.A two-stage analytical method was employed:first,generalized linear models assessed district-specific associations between cold spells and hospitalizations;second,random-effects meta-analysis aggregated the districtlevel results.Subgroup analyses were performed by admission type(emergency vs.outpatient),age,and sex.Results A total of 271,579 GUD-related hospitalizations were recorded.Cold spells(p1day2,daily mean temperature below the 1st percentiles of the daily mean temperature distribution from January 1,2013,to December 31,2018,lasting for two or more consecutive days)were linked to a significant rise in hospitalization risks:1.43(95%CI:1.32–1.56)for all GUDs,1.35(95%CI:1.23–1.49)for urinary system diseases,and 1.46(95%CI:1.28–1.67)for renal failure,when compared to non-cold spell days.Emergency admissions showed higher risk increases than outpatient admissions.Conclusion Extreme cold spells significantly elevate hospitalization risks for GUDs.This highlights the urgent need for targeted public health interventions to mitigate cold-related health impacts,especially for vulnerable populations. 展开更多

Epithelial ovarian cancer represents the most lethal gynecological malignancy in the developed world, and can be divided into five main histological subtypes: high grade serous, endometrioid, clear cell, mucinous and low grade serous. These subtypes represent distinct disease entities, both clinically and at the molecular level. Molecular analysis has revealed significant genetic heterogeneity in ovarian cancer, particularly within the high grade serous subtype. As such, this subtype has been the focus of much research effort to date, revealing molecular subgroups at both the genomic and transcriptomic level that have clinical implications.However, stratification of ovarian cancer patients based on the underlying biology of their disease remains in its infancy. Here, we summarize the molecular changes that characterize the five main ovarian cancer subtypes, highlight potential opportunities for targeted therapeutic intervention and outline priorities for future research. 展开更多

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of acupuncture for collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) in Cx43 knock-out mice and its underlying immunological mechanism.Methods Heterozygote (Cx43^+/-) mice (n=64) and wild-type (Cx43^+/+) mice (n=46) were used in the present study.CIA model was es- tablished by intracutaneous injection of bovine collagenⅡ(immunonization).Acupuncture of Zúsānlǐ(足三里ST36) was carried out from the 4^th week on after the initial immunization,once a day for 3 weeks.Arthritis score and days of onset of CIA were recorded.Intracellular contents of Th subgroups of splenic lymphocytes were detected with flow cytometry.Results The incidence rate of CIA and arthritis score in Cx43^+/- mice were significantly lower than those in Cx43^+/+ mice (P〈0.05).In Cx43^+/+ mice,3 weeks after acupuncture treatment,the score of arthritis symptoms and signs in acupuncture group was significantly lower than that in model group (P〈0.01),while in Cx43^+/- mice,no significant difference was found between model group and acupuncture group in arthritis score (P〉0.05).In comparison with control group,percentages of both Thl and Th2 and Th1/Th2 increased significantly in 0x43^+/+ CIA model group (P〈0.05),while compared with model group,the percentage of Th1,Th2 and Th1/Th2 in acupuncture group decreased evidently (P〈0.05) or moderately,showing that acupuncture can effectively suppress arthritis-induced increase of Thl in Cx43^+/+ mice.In 0x43^+/- mice,Th1 level and Th1/Th2 of CIA model group increased considerably in comparison with control group (P〈0.05),while compared with model group,the Th1,Th2 and Th1/Th2 of acupuncture group had no significant changes (P〉0.05),indicating that the effect of acupuncture in suppressing increase of Th1 percent and Th1/Th2 was eliminated.Conclusion Acupuncture of Zúsānlǐ(足三里ST 36) can effectively relieve CIA symptoms and signs and inhibit increase of splenic Th1 in Cx43^+/+ mice but has no any effect on CIA score,Th1,Th2 and Th1/Th2 in Cx43^+/- mice.It shows the effect of acupuncture in improving CIA is closely related to Cx43 gene. 展开更多

Inoculation of SDAU09C1 in ALV-free chickens induced antibody reactions specific to subgroup A or B. But gp85 amino acid sequence comparisons indicated that SDAU09C1 fell into subgroup A; it had homology of 88.8%-90.3% to 6 reference strains of subgroup A, much higher compared to other subgroups including subgroup B. This is the first report for ALV of subgroup A isolated from imported breeders. 展开更多

Flavones are among the major colorless pigments synthesized through branches of the flavonoid pathway in plants.However,due to the absence of a gene encoding flavone synthase(FNS)in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana species,the regulatory mechanism of FNS-catalyzed flavone biosynthesis has rarely been studied in plants.Here,it was found that flavones play a predominant role in the elimination of excess reactive oxygen species(ROS)at high temperatures in colorless plant organs.A novel atypical subgroup 7(SG7)R2R3-MYB transcription factor,CmMYB012,was found to be induced in response to prolonged high temperatures and to inhibit flavone biosynthesis by directly regulating CmFNS.Moreover,CmMYB012 was also found to inhibit anthocyanin biosynthesis by suppressing the expression of CmCHS,CmDFR,CmANS,and CmUFGT.CmMYB012 overexpression exerted a negative in fluence on plant fitness and pink flower color formation,while CmMYB012 suppression had the opposite effect in response to high temperatures.Our findings provide new insights into the mechanisms by which high temperatures regulate the metabolism of flavones and anthocyanins to affect plant fitness and flower color formation. 展开更多

Due to the growing concern about the agricultural phosphorus (P) losses pollution, an in-depth understanding of P in paddy soils of China would be helpful in providing a national perspective of the environmental impact of P cycling and fertility on China's farms. In this study, we evaluated the P storage and the P density of paddy soils in China, characterized the spatial variations of P among the subgroups of paddy soils and soil regions in China, and evaluated the P data using GIS-based analysis, which included a newly compiled 1:1 000 000 digital soil map of China, and using 1 490 soil profiles. The available and total P densities of paddy soils were 6.7 and 698.5 g m -3 , respectively. Overall in China, the total P storage within 1 m of paddy soils was estimated to be 330.2 Tg. The P density of paddy soils varied substantially with subgroups due to the different soil water regimes such as groundwater table and soil drainage. The P availability in paddy soils, especially in surface layer, was higher in high temperature and precipitation areas. Further research is needed to examine more anthropogenic impact factors, such as increasing use of chemical fertilizer. 展开更多
