From Design to Implementation:A Study on Quality Assurance of Cultural Study Courses in Vocational Colleges Based on the AOL System

With the development of vocational education,cultural study courses play an increasingly important role in cultivating students’overall competence and professional skills.However,many vocational colleges face challenges such as outdated teaching content,low student engagement,and insufficient learning outcomes in their cultural study courses.To address these issues,this study introduces the Assurance of Learning(AOL)system,aiming to enhance course quality through a systematic approach.Using Shanghai Zhongqiao University of Technology and Vocational Education as a case study,this research explores the specific pathways for designing and implementing cultural study courses based on the AOL system.During the course design phase,specific and measurable learning objectives are set,and corresponding teaching content and assessment tools are developed to enhance the controllability of the study process.In the implementation phase,various teaching strategies such as project-based learning,case analysis,and field visits are adopted to promote active student participation and effective learning.Additionally,continuous monitoring and feedback mechanisms are employed to continuously adjust and optimize the course content and teaching methods.This study not only provides specific pathways for course improvement in vocational colleges but also verifies the effectiveness of the AOL system in enhancing the quality of cultural study courses.The research findings offer valuable references for other vocational colleges in curriculum reform and quality improvement. 展开更多

A“smart course”denotes a learner-centered curriculum model that deeply integrates advanced technologies,including generative artificial intelligence(AI)and big data analytics,with ongoing optimization and iterative refinement.This paper examines the pathways of smart course development in higher vocational education by using the Study Tour Course Design course as a practical case study.The analysis is conducted from four perspectives:innovation in educational concepts,innovation in teaching models,transformation in learning paradigms,and enhancement in evaluation systems.By developing a threedimensional framework encompassing“knowledge,skills,and problems”,the focus of education shifts from“knowledge imparting”to“competency development”.This approach fosters a transformation in teaching interactions,moving beyond the traditional“teacher and student interaction”to a more integrated trinity collaboration of“teachers,students,and machines”,and promotes the transformation of students’learning from“passive receptive learning”to“autonomous inquiry-based learning”.Simultaneously,it facilitates the transition of evaluation methods from“outcome-based evaluation”to“multi-dimensional evaluation”. 展开更多

Inflammatory bowel diseases(IBDs) are characterized by a chronic course with an alternation of relapses and remissions.Questions about prognosis are important for the patient who wants to know how the disease will affect his/her life and also for clinicians to make management decisions.Correct selection of the patients is the basis for good methodological studies on the course of IBD.A great proportion of data on the course of IBD is derived from a limited number of cohort studies.Studies help to define the endpoints for clinical trials and to identify subsets of patients in whom the prognosis of the disease can be stratified according to clinical features.Specific scientific requirements for high-quality studies on prognosis are the following:use of inception cohort,description of referral patterns,completeness of follow-up,objective outcome criteria,blind outcome assessment,adjustment for extraneous prognostic factors and statistical issues.We analyzed each of these requirements in studies on IBDs.To date,prospective and populationbased cohort studies are the standard for an unbiased assessment of prognosis.A better knowledge of the course of disease of chronic disorders ideally requires:(1) data from population-based studies,to avoid selection bias from referral centers in which patients with a more severe disease are usually treated;(2) inclusion of patients seen at the onset of the disease excluding misdiagnosed cases;and(3) follow-up from the onset of the disease to the end without dropouts. 展开更多
