Does Structural Matching between Finance and Law Promote Economic Development?

Financial systems generally operate under two different models:one where capital markets play a primary role in financial transactions and resource allocation(market-oriented model),and another where banks are the central institutions for these activities(bank-oriented model).The degree of investor protection afforded by the legal system varies across these systems.What is the most efficient alignment between financial structure and investor protection?This paper attempts to quantify the structural matching relationship between the financial structure and investor protection in various countries,and examines empirically the impact of this relationship on economic development.Using a sample of cross-country panel data,it finds that the degree of structural matching was positively related to economic development.Both the combination of a securities market and strong investor protection and the combination of a banking system and weak investor protection can contribute to promoting economic development.It extends the law and finance theory framework,enhances the analysis of scenarios with weak alignment between financial structure and investor protection,explains the growth path of developing countries,and highlights the diversity and the dynamic nature of the optimal financial structure. 展开更多

Different types of capital are better suited to financing technologies with different risk profiles,and structural matching between finance and technology may critically influence economic growth.Using cross-province panel data from China,we estimated the impact of the matching relationship between regions'financial structure and technology level on economic growth.We show that:(ⅰ)the matching relationship had a statistically significant positive impact on economic growth;(ⅱ)structural mismatching reduced economic growth in comparison with the optimal matching point;(ⅲ)structural matching better facilitated economic growth in more developed regions;and(ⅳ)capital accumulation and technological progress were two of the main channels through which matching influenced economic growth.We address potential endogeneity concerns and perform robustness checks,and our results remain valid.Our findings provide convincing evidence for the optimalfinancial structure theory and explain China's rapid growth despite its comparatively underdeveloped securities market. 展开更多

The design curves for matching guns with their supporting structure can be obtained from response calculations of the plate-spring system supporting the gun on the ground,the model structure tested on the ground and the actual structure.A set of matching curves is given for engineering application.Then,the matching design can be accomplished by means of impact load spectrograms so as to perform an optimal structural design and to make further improvements on dynamic design program. 展开更多

AI-driven interior design generation offers promising applications.However,current AI-based diffusion models struggle to generate indoor layouts in pixel-level alignment with the indoor structure.This study proposes a new stable diffusion-based interior design workflow with an Interior Design Control Network(IDCN).IDCN ensures that the batchgenerated creative interior designs based on an input image of an unfurnished room match the indoor structure.Generating innovative designs and rendering images directly with the proposed method eliminates the tedious creative design and drawing work in traditional design practices.The results indicate that the proposed method with the new design approach achieves nearly real-time design generation and modiflcation and signiflcantly enhances design creativity and efflciency.Moreover,the proposed method can be generalized to other design generation tasks,thereby promoting the transformation toward intelligent design. 展开更多

Privacy preservation is a primary concern in social networks which employ a variety of privacy preservations mechanisms to preserve and protect sensitive user information including age,location,education,interests,and others.The task of matching user identities across different social networks is considered a challenging task.In this work,we propose an algorithm to reveal user identities as a set of linked accounts from different social networks using limited user profile data,i.e,user-name and friendship.Thus,we propose a framework,ExpandUIL,that includes three standalone al-gorithms based on(i)the percolation graph matching in Ex-pand FullName algorithm,(i)a supervised machine learning algorithm that works with the graph embedding,and(ii)a combination of the two,ExpandUserLinkage algorithm.The proposed framework as a set of algorithms is significant as,(i)it is based on the network topology and requires only name feature of the nodes,(i)it requires a considerably low initial seed,as low as one initial seed suffices,(ii)it is iterative and scalable with applicability to online incoming stream graphs,and(iv)it has an experimental proof of stability over a real ground-truth dataset.Experiments on real datasets,Instagram and VK social networks,show upto 75%recall for linked ac-counts with 96%accuracy using only one given seed pair. 展开更多

Porous carbon-based microwave absorbers demonstrate significant potential due to their lightweight characteristics and tunable dielectric properties,despite persistent challenges including narrow bandwidth,structural fragility,and thermal instability.In this study,an innovative PyC@SiC_(nws)@SiBCN ceramic foam was fabricated via a two-step impregnation process,followed by polymer-derived ceramic conversion through pressureless pyrolysis.The effects of SiC nws content and pyrolysis temperature on microstructure,dielectric behavior,and microwave absorption were comprehensively investigated.Results demonstrate that heat treatment modulates the composition and multi-dimensional heterogeneous interfaces,and the optimal absorber exhibits exceptional performance with a minimum reflection loss of-58.4 dB at 11.0 GHz and ultra-wide EAB of 4.2 GHz(covering the entire X-band)at merely 4.5 mm thickness.The three-layered coating structure composed of PyC,SiC_(nws),and SiBCN enables effective regulation of impedance matching through dielectric gradient distribution and induces multiple interfacial polarization losses synchronously,providing new insights into the structural engineering of ceramic foams for microwave absorbers. 展开更多
