In this model, we avoid imposing any unphysical boundary condition, for instance, the zero electrostatic potential in the middle of the channel. Using the similarity transformation, we employ the homotopy analysis method (HAM) to get the analytical solution of the model. In our approach, the unknown pressure constant and the integral constant related to the electric potential are solved spontaneously by using the proper boundary conditions on the channel walls, which makes our model consistent with the commonly accepted models in the field of fluid mechanics. It is expected that our model can offer a general and proper way to study the flow phenomena in microchannels.展开更多

The governing equations are partial differential equations. They are reduced to a set of highly nonlinear ordinary differential equations by suitable similarity transformations. The re- sulting similarity equations are solved numerically with a shooting method. Comparisons with previous works are macle, and the results are found to be in excellent agreement. In the present work, the effects of the unsteadiness parameter, the Casson parameter, the Eckert number, the slip velocity parameter, and the Prandtl number on flow and heat transfer characteristics are discussed. Also, the local skin-friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number at the stretching sheet are computed and discussed.展开更多

It is demonstrated that the reduced effective thermal conductivity of the porous media due to non-conducting pore inclusions is caused by the mechanism of thermal stretching, which is a combi- nation of reduced effective heat flow area and elongated heat transfer distance (thermal tortuosity).展开更多

The result shows that Y, Ce, and Gd addition in Mg-1.5Zn alloys can effectively weaken and modify the basal plane texture, characterized by TD-split texture in which the position of basal is titled from normal direction (ND) toward transverse direction (TD). When Mg-1.5Zn alloy with Gd addition appears low texture intensity and TD-split texture, where the position of basal poles is tilted by about 4-35° from ND toward to TD, the largest Erichsen value of 7.0 and the elongation rate reaches 29.1% in TD direction. However, Y and Ce addition in Mg-1.5Zn alloys promote a large number of second phase particles, which cancel the contribution of the unique basal texture to stretch formability and ductility.展开更多

Through the distribution of internal stress fields of stretched round billet, it is found that the shear stress field is the main factor to induce Mannesmann's effect. The simulation results show that a reasonable distribution of the temperature field may improve the internal quality of the circular section billet in the stretching process.展开更多

With the observed thermal wind relation, the beta-spiral theory was used to explain the dynamics of spirals. It was found that the horizontal diffusion of geostrophic vortex stretching is likely to be a major mechanism for generating geostrophic spirals. Vertical advection associated with surface/bottom Ekman pumping and topography-induced upwelling is too weak to support these spirals. Strong wind stirring and large heat loss in wintertime lead to weak stratification and diminish the effects of vertical advection. The cooling effect and vertical diffusion are offset by an overwhelming contribution of horizontal diffusion in connection with vortex stretching. The Richardson number-dependent vertical eddy diffusivity reaches a magnitude of 10^(-4) m^2 s^(-1) on average. An eddy diffusivity of 2870 m^2 s^(-1) is required for dynamic balance by estimating the residual term. This obtained value of 10-4 m^2 s^(-1) is in good agreement with the estimation in terms of observed eddy activities. The suppressed and unsuppressed diffusivities in the observation region are 2752 and 2881 m^2 s^(-1), respectively, which supports a closed budget for velocity rotation.展开更多

The governing equations are transformed into ordinary differential equations by using suitable similarity transformations and then solved numerically by a shooting technique. This investigation explores the conditions of the non-existence, existence and uniqueness of the solutions of the similar equations numerically. It is noted that the range of the velocity ratio parameter, where the similarity solution exists, is increased with the increase of the value of the magnetic parameter. Furthermore, the study reveals that the non-alignment function affects the shrinking sheet more than the stretching sheet. In addition, the numerical results of the velocity profile, temperature profile, skin-friction coefficient, and rate of heat transfer at the sheet are discussed in detail with different parameters.展开更多

The uniaxial tension tests of different specimens were carried out to determine the critical strains of different strain paths. Then, the slip line limited curve(SLC) is available from these critical strains. Two kinds of aluminum alloys, 2024-T3 and 2524-T3, were studied, and two SLCs are gained. The application of the SLC to an airplane skin stretch forming simulation was investigated, and the results show that the SLC can be used to control the slip lines occurring in practice.展开更多
