Buprofezin and imidacloprid are selective insecticides against Homoptera insects. This paper investigated stimulating effect of the two insecticides on the number of laid eggs by yellow rice borer, Tryporyza incertulas(Walker) of three generations in 20012002. The results showed that the reproductive rate of emergence months during the larvae feeding on the rice plants of Xiushui63 treated with the two insecticides was significantly higher than that of control, indicating that the numbers of laid eggs by the borer was stimulated following buprofezin and imidacloprid applications. However, there was no such effect for the larvae feeding on rice variety Zhendao2 which showed moderate resistance to the insect. In addition, the incidence of stimulating egg laid for the first instar treated with the two insecticides was greater than that for the third instar. Biochemical tests showed that oxalic acid concentration declined, and photosynthetic rate of rice leaves following the two insecticide applications declined significantly compared to control, whereas reducing sugar concentration increased significantly for all other treatments of two varieties except Xiushui63 treated with buprofezin. The level of glutathione-S-transferase varied with rice variety and insecticide. 展开更多

Mining is an essential component of China's industrial economy. Using grey correlation method to analyze the correlative effect of mineral resources exploitation to relevant industries, using national income method to calculate the pulling effect of mineral resources exploitation to economic growth and using graphs as well as tables to analyze the income distribution effect, the article obtains active economic effect of mineral resources development in Bijie, Guizhou. Moreover, from the view of resources-cored effect, the article analyzes negative effects such as single industrial structure brought by mineral resource development. Through analysis, we find that mineral resources exploitation to some extent brings active effects including gross domestic product growth, local financial revenue growth and relevant industries development; however, its negative effects should not be ignored. The negative effect can be lightened by diversifying industrial structure and prolonging industrial chain. 展开更多

Based on continuum-discontinuum element method, the numerical simulation of fracture propagation during deflagration-hydraulic composite fracturing was constructed by considering deflagration stress impact induced fracture creation, deflagrating gas driven fracture propagation, and hydraulic fracture propagation, exploring the effects of in-situ stress difference, deflagration peak pressure, deflagration pressurization rate, hydraulic fracturing displacement and hydraulic fracturing fluid viscosity on fracture propagation in deflagration-hydraulic composite fracturing. The deflagration-hydraulic composite fracturing combines the advantages of deflagration fracturing in creating complex fractures near wells and the deep penetration of hydraulic fracturing at the far-field region, which can form multiple deep penetrating long fractures with better stimulation effects. With the increase of in-situ stress difference, the stimulated area of deflagration-hydraulic composite fracturing is reduced, and the deflagration-hydraulic composite fracturing is more suitable for reservoirs with small in-situ stress difference.Higher peak pressure and pressurization rate are conducive to increasing the maximum fracture length and burst degree of the deflagration fractures, which in turn increases the stimulated area of deflagration-hydraulic composite fracturing and improves the stimulation effect.Increasing the displacement and viscosity of hydraulic fracturing fluid can enhance the net pressure within the fractures, activate the deflagration fractures, increase the turning radius of the fractures, generate more long fractures, and effectively increase the stimulated reservoir area. The stimulated reservoir area is not completely positively correlated with the hydraulic fracturing displacement and fracturing fluid viscosity, and there is a critical value. When the critical value is exceeded, the stimulated area decreases. 展开更多

In this paper we study the gain saturation induced mode-coupling control in solid state ring laser devices based on the stimulated Raman effect of the polar crystals in.order to realize solid state ring laser gyroscopes. We theoretically investigate the mode coupling induced by gain saturation between clockwise (CW) and counterclockwise (CCW) propa- gating laser modes. Because the CW and CCW running waves are pumped with counter-propagating lasers respectively, the independent coexistence can be ensured. 展开更多

BACKGROUND: The postoperative recovery of nerve function in patients with peripheral nerve injury is always an important problem to solve after treatment. The electric stimulation induced electromagnetic field can nourish nerve, postpone muscular atrophy, and help the postoperative neuromuscular function. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of low-frequency pulse percutaneous electric stimulation on the functional recovery of postoperative patients with peripheral nerve injury, and quantitatively evaluate the results of electromyogram (EMG) examination before and after treatment. DESIGN : A retrospective case analysis SETTING: The Sixth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University PARTICIPANTS: Nineteen postoperative inpatients with peripheral nerve injury were selected from the De- partment of Orthopaedics, the Sixth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University from June 2005 to January 2006, including 13 males and 6 females aged 24-62 years with an average of 36 years old. There were 3 cases of brachial plexus nerve injury, 3 of median nerve injury, 7 of radial nerve injury, 3 of ul- nar nerve injury and 3 of common peroneal nerve injury, and all the patients received probing nerve fiber restoration. Their main preoperative manifestations were dennervation, pain in limbs, motor and sensory disturbances. All the 19 patients were informed with the therapeutic program and items for evaluation. METHODS: ① Low-frequency pulse percutaneous electric stimulation apparatus: The patients were given electric stimulation with the TERESA cantata instrument (TERESA-0, Shanghai Teresa Health Technology, Co., Ltd.). The patients were stimulated with symmetric square waves of 1-111 Hz, and the intensity was 1.2-5.0 mA, and it was gradually adjusted according to the recovered conditions of neural regeneration following the principle that the intensity was strong enough and the patients felt no obvious upset. They were treated for 4- 24 weeks, 10-30 minutes for each time, 1-3 times a day, and 6 weeks as a course. ② EMG examination was applied to evaluate the recoveries of recruitment, motor conduction velocity (MCV) and sensory conduction velocity (SCV) before and after treatment. The patients were examined with the EMG apparatus (DIS- A2000C, Danmark) before and after the treatment of percutaneous electric stimulation. ③Standards for evaluating the effects included cured (complete recovery of motor functions, muscle strength of grade 5, no abnormality in EMG examination), obviously effective [general recovery of motor function, muscle strength of grade 4, no or a few denervation potentials, motor conduction velocity (MCV) and sensory conduction velocity (SCV)], improved (partial recovery of motor function, muscle strength of grade 3, denervation potentials and reinneration potentials, slowed MCV and SCV, invalid (no obvious changes of motor function). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① Ameliorated degree of the nerve function of the postoperative patients with peripheral nerve injury treated with percutaneous electric stimulation; ② Changes of EMG examination before and after treatment. RESULTS: All the 19 postoperative patients with peripheral nerve injury were involved in the analysis of results. ① Comparison of nerve function before and after treatment in 19 patients with peripheral nerve injury of different sites: For the patients with radial nerve injury (n=7), the nerve functions all completely recovered after 8-week treatment, and the cured and obvious rate was 100% (7/7); For the patients with brachial plexus nerve injury (n=3), 1 case had no obvious improvement, and the cured and obvious rate was 67% (2/3); For the patients with common peroneal nerve injury (n=3), the extension of foot dorsum generally recovered in 1 case of nerve contusion after 4-week treatment, and the cured and obvious rate was 67% (2/3); For the patients with median nerve injury (n=3), muscle strength was obviously recovered, and the cured and obvious rate was 100% (3/3); For the patients with ulnar nerve injury (n=3), 1 case only had recovery of partial senses, and the cured and obvious rate was 67% (2/3). Totally 9 cases were cured, 7 were obviously effective, 1 was improved, and only 2 were invalid. After 4 courses, the cured rate of damaged nerve function after four courses was 47% (9/19), and effective rate was 89% (17/19).② Comparison of EMG examination before and after treatment: Before and after percutaneous electric stimulation, he effective rates of recruitment, MCV and SCV were 89% (17/19), 58% (11/19), 47% (9/19) respectively, and there were extremely obvious differences (P〈 0.01). CONCLUSION: ①Low-frequency pulse percutaneous electric stimulation can improve the nerve function of postoperative patients with peripheral nerve injury of different sites, especially that the injuries of radial nerve and median nerve recover more obviously. ②Percutaneous electric stimulation can ameliorate the indexes of EMG examination, especially the recruitment, in postoperative patients with peripheral nerve injury. 展开更多

Karst fracture-cavity carbonate reservoirs,in which natural cavities are connected by natural fractures to form cavity clusters in many circumstances, have become significant fields of oil and gas exploration and exploitation.Proppant fracturing is considered as the best method for exploiting carbonate reservoirs;however, previous studies primarily focused on the effects of individual types of geological formations, such as natural fractures or cavities,on fracture propagation. In this study,true-triaxial physical simulation experiments were systematically performed under four types of stress difference conditions after the accurate prefabrication of four types of different fracture-cavity distributions in artificial samples.Subsequently, the interaction mechanism between the hydraulic fractures and fracture-cavity structures was systematically analyzed in combination with the stress distribution,cross-sectional morphology of the main propagation path, and three-dimensional visualization of the overall fracture network. It was found that the propagation of hydraulic fractures near the cavity was inhibited by the stress concentration surrounding the cavity. In contrast,a natural fracture with a smaller approach angle(0°and 30°)around the cavity can alleviate the stress concentration and significantly facilitate the connection with the cavity. In addition, the hydraulic fracture crossed the natural fracture at the 45°approach angle and bypassed the cavity under higher stress difference conditions.A new stimulation effectiveness evaluation index was established based on the stimulated reservoir area(SRA),tortuosity of the hydraulic fractures(T),and connectivity index(CI)of the cavities. These findings provide new insights into the fracturing design of carbonate reservoirs. 展开更多

Weiyuan shale gas play is characterized by thin high-quality reservoir thickness, big horizontal stress difference, and big productivity differences between wells.Based on integrated evaluation of shale gas reservoir geology and well logging interpretation of more than 20 appraisal wells,a correlation was built between the single well test production rate and the high-quality reservoir length drilled in the horizontal wells,high-quality reservoir thickness and the stimulation treatment parameters in over 100 horizontal wells, the dominating factors on horizontal well productivity were found out,and optimized development strategies were proposed. The results show that the deployed reserves of high-quality reservoir are the dominating factors on horizontal well productivity. In other words, the shale gas well productivity is controlled by the thickness of the high-quality reservoir, the high-quality reservoir drilling length and the effectiveness of stimulation.Based on the above understanding, the development strategies in Weiyuan shale gas play are optimized as follows:(1)The target of horizontal wells is located in the middle and lower parts of Longyi 11(Wei202 area)and Longyi 11(Wei204 area).(2)Producing wells are drilled in priority in the surrounding areas of Weiyuan county with thick high-quality reservoir.(3)A medium to high intensity stimulation is adopted. After the implementation of these strategies, both the production rate and the estimated ultimate recovery(EUR)of individual shale gas wells have increased substantially. 展开更多

By using packed soil-core incubation experiments, we have studied stimulating effects of addition of external carbon (C) (glu- cose, 6.4 g C m 2) on heterotrophic respiration and microbial biomass C of a mature broadleaf and Korean pine mixed forest (BKPF) and an adjacent white birch forest (WBF) soil under different wetting intensities (55% and 80% WFPS, water-filled pore space) and nitrogen (N) supply (NH4C1 and KNO3, 4.5 g N m-e) conditions. The results showed that for the control, the cumulative carbon dioxide (CO2) flux from WBF soil during the 15-day incubation ranged from 5.44 to 5.82 g CO2-C m-2, which was significantly larger than that from BKPF soil (2.86 to 3.36 g CO2-C m 2). With increasing wetting intensity, the cumulative CO2 flux from the control was decreased for the WBF soil, whereas an increase in the CO2 flux was observed in the BKPF soil (P 〈 0.05). The addition of NH4C1 or KNO3 alone significantly reduced the cumulative CO2 fluxes by 9.2%-21.6 % from the two soils, especially from WBF soil at low wetting intensity. The addition of glucose alone significantly increased soil heterotrophic respiration, microbial biomass C (MBC), and microbial metabolic quotient. The glucose-induced cumulative CO2 fluxes and soil MBC during the incubation ranged from 8.7 to 11.7 g CO2-C m-2 and from 7.4 to 23.9 g C m-2, which are larger than the dose of added C. Hence, the addition of external carbon can increase the decomposition of soil native organic C. The glucose-induced average and maximum rates of CO2 fluxes during the incubation were significantly in- fluenced by wetting intensity (WI) and vegetation type (VT), and by WIxVT, NH4ClxVT and WIxVTxNH4C1 (P〈0.05). The addition of NH4C1, instead of KNO3, significantly decreased the glucose-induced MBC of WBF soil (P〈0.05), whereas adding NH4C1 and KNO3 both significantly increased the glucose-induced MBC of BKPF soil at high moisture (P〈0.05). According to the differences in soil labile C pools, MBC and CO2 fluxes in the presence and absence of glucose, it can be concluded that the stimulating effects of glucose on soil heterotrophic respiration and MBC under temperate forests were dependent on vegetation type, soil moisture, and amount and type of the N added. 展开更多

Dear Editor,Parkinson’s disease(PD),is the most common neurodegenerative movement disorder with robustly identifiable electrophathophysiological hallmarks, namely increased beta and reduced narrow gamma oscillatory activity.1 In PD abnormal synchronization of the basal ganglia-thalamo-cortical circuits, which converge on the primary motor and the premotor cortex,is widely accepted to underlie debilitating motor symptoms.Deep brain stimulation(DBS)effectively improves motor symptoms in PD by decreasing cortical beta and increasing gamma activity,as well as modifying gamma-to-beta coupling.1 Yet,little is known about the link between pathological oscillatory activity and the underlying molecular signatures of the degenerating brain tissue in PD. 展开更多

High-power single-frequency fiber lasers with diffraction-limited spots are indispensable for a wide range of photonic applications and are particularly in advanced detection and sensing technologies. However, the simultaneous achievement of kilowatt-level output power and diffraction-limited beam quality has remained elusive in all reported single-frequency fiber laser systems to date, primarily due to limitations imposed by the stimulated Brillouin scattering(SBS)effect and transverse mode instability(TMI)effect. In this study,we demonstrate the design and manufacturing of an ultra-low numerical aperture(NA)functional Yb-doped fiber featuring a bat-type refractive index distribution, specifically engineered for single-frequency laser amplification. In the fabrication,we implemented multiple chelate gas filling and particle deposition iterations, leading to an active fiber with a bat-type refractive index distribution. The unique capabilities of this large mode area and high-order modes leakage fiber(HOMLF)were demonstrated by stably amplifying the single-frequency laser with more than one kilowatt output power and near single mode beam quality(M_(x)^(2)=1.10,M_(x)^(2)=1.18)for the first time. This fiber design advances the leap forward in single-frequency fiber lasers, which could contribute as a novel and efficient laser amplification technique for the next generation of gravitational wave detection systems. 展开更多

In shale gas fracking, the stimulated natural fracture system is often critical to the gas production. In this paper, we present the results of state-of-the-art modeling of a detailed parametric evolution of the shear stimulation effect in discrete fracture network(DFN) formations. Two-dimensional computational modeling studies have been used in an attempt towards understanding how naturally fractured reservoirs response in hydraulic fracturing. Simulations were conducted as a function of:(1) the in-situ stress ratio;(2) internal friction angle of DFN;(3) DFN orientation with the stress field; and(4) operational vari- ables such as injection rate. A sensitivity study reveals a number of interesting observations resulting from these parameters on the shear stimulation in natural fracture system. This work strongly links the production technology, geomechanical evaluation and aids in the understanding and optimization of hydraulic fracturing simulations in naturally fractured reservoirs. 展开更多

In this work,we experimentally investigate the dependence of the stimulated Raman scattering(SRS)effect on the seed linewidth of a high-power nanosecond superfluorescent fiber source(ns-SFS).The results reveal that the SRS in the ns-SFS amplifier is significantly influenced by the full width at half maximum(FWHM)of the ns-SFS seed, and there is an optimal FWHM linewidth of 2 nm to achieve the lowest SRS in our case. The first-order SRS power ratio increases rapidly when the seed’s linewidth deviates from the optimal FWHM linewidth.By power scaling the ns-SFS seed with the optimal FWHM linewidth,a narrowband all-fiberized ns-SFS amplifier is achieved with a maximum average power of 602 W,pulse energy of 24.1 mJ and corresponding peak power of 422.5 kW.This is the highest average power and pulse energy achieved for all-fiberized ns-SFS amplifiers to the best of our knowledge. 展开更多
