This study examines the reflection of regular and irregular waves from a partially perforated caisson breakwater located on a step bed. The step bed is treated as an idealized rubble mound foundation. Based on the linear potential theory, an analytical solution is developed to calculate the reflection coefficient of the structure subjected to regular waves. The matched eigenfunction expansion method is used for the solution. The regular wave method is also extended to irregular waves using a linear transfer function. The calculated results obtained for limiting cases are exactly the same as corresponding results given by the previous researchers. The present predictions also agree well with experimental data in the published literatures. Numerical experiments are conducted to examine the variations of the reflection coefficient versus its main effect factors, and some interesting results are presented. 展开更多

On the basis of a potential theory and Euler-Bernoulli beam theory, an analytical solution for oblique wave scattering by a semi-infinite elastic plate with finite draft floating on a step topography is developed using matched eigenfunction expansions. Different from previous studies, the effects of a wave incident angle, a plate draft, three different plate edge conditions (free, simply supported and built-in) and a sea-bottom topography are all taken into account. Moreover, the plate edge conditions are directly incorporated into linear algebraic equations for determining unknown expansion coefficients in velocity potentials, which leads to a simple and efficient solving procedure. Numerical results show that the convergence of the present solution is good, and an energy conservation relation is well satisfied. Also, the present predictions are in good agreement with known results for special cases. The effects of the wave incident angle, the plate draft, the plate edge conditions and the sea-bottom topography on various hydrodynamic quantities are analyzed. Based on linear water-wave theory, this study investigated the scattering of oblique incident water waves by two unequal surface-piercing thin vertical rigid plates with stepped bottom topography. By using the matched eigenfunction expansion method and a least square approach, the analytical solutions are sought for the established boundary value problem. The effects of the incidence angle, location of step, depth ratio of deep to shallow waters,and column width between two plates, on the reflection coefficients, the horizontal wave forces acting on the two plates, and the mean surface elevation between the two plates, are numerically examined under a variety of wave conditions. The results show that the existence of the stepped bottom between two plates considerably impacts the hydrodynamic performances of the present system. It is found that the effect of stepped bottom on the reflection coefficient of the present two-plate structure is evident only with waves of the low dimensionless frequency.Moreover, the influence of the step location on the hydrodynamic performance of the present two-plate structure is slight if the step is placed in between the two plates. 展开更多

In the 1990s, several major earthquakes occurred throughout the world, with a common observation that near fault ground motion (NFGM) characteristics had a distinct impact on causing damage to civil engineering structures that could not be predicted by using far field ground motions. Since then, seismic responses of structures under NFGMs have been extensively examined, with most of the studies focusing on structures with relatively short fundamental periods, where the traveling wave effect does not need to be considered. However, for long span bridges, especially arch bridges, the traveling wave (only time delay considered) effect may be very distinct and is therefore important. In this paper, the results from a case study on the seismic response of a steel arch bridge under selected NFGMs is presented by considering the traveling wave effect with variable apparent velocities. The effects of fling step and long period pulses of NFGMs on the seismic responses of the arch bridge are also discussed. 展开更多

This paper presents the analytical design and high performance of step-constant tapered slot antenna (STSA) for ultra-wideband application. The return loss, radiation pattern, antenna gain, and level of cross polarization of this antenna are presented and analyzed. Utilizing Rogers (RO3006) substrate having a relative permittivity of 6.15, the proposed antenna provides the ultra-wideband (UWB) from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz. It is observed that the return loss and gain are increased with increasing the step size. It has been observed from the simulation results incorporating CST microwave studio commercial software version 2015, the optimum return loss, directivity and gain are ?43 dB, 10.52 dBi and 10.20 dB, respectively, for 15 step size. Therefore, the newly proposed antenna will be a decent candidate for ultra-wideband application. 展开更多

Application of CLEAR-VOF method to wave and flow simulations

A two-dimensional numerical model based on the Navier-Stokes equations and computational Lagrangian-Eulerian advection remap-volume of fluid (CLEAR-VOF) method was developed to simulate wave and flow problems. The Navier-Stokes equations were discretized with a three-step finite element method that has a third-order accuracy. In the CLEAR-VOF method, the VOF function F was calculated in the Lagrangian manner and allowed the complicated free surface to be accurately captured. The propagation of regular waves and solitary waves over a flat bottom, and shoaling and breaking of solitary waves on two different slopes were simulated with this model, and the numerical results agreed with experimental data and theoretical solutions. A benchmark test of dam-collapse flow was also simulated with an unstructured mesh, and the capability of the present model for wave and flow simulations with unstructured meshes, was verified. The results show that the model is effective for numerical simulation of wave and flow problems with both structured and unstructured meshes. 展开更多

腾冲—保山地区集地震、火山和地热活动于一体,一直是研究的热点地区,但关于腾冲火山的岩浆分布情况和岩浆来源一直存在争议。文中利用腾冲—保山地区分布的76个地震观测台站记录的远震波形数据,采用接收函数与瑞利波相速度的两步联合... 腾冲—保山地区集地震、火山和地热活动于一体,一直是研究的热点地区,但关于腾冲火山的岩浆分布情况和岩浆来源一直存在争议。文中利用腾冲—保山地区分布的76个地震观测台站记录的远震波形数据,采用接收函数与瑞利波相速度的两步联合反演方法和Bootstrap重采样技术,获取了腾冲—保山地区地壳上地幔150km深度范围内的三维S波速度结构。与前人的研究成果进行了对比分析,讨论了腾冲火山区的壳内岩浆分布情况和腾冲火山的起源,得到以下几点结论:与前人结果相比,文中S波速度结构的整体特征大致相同,在一些细节上存在差异。沿腾冲火山区从北向南,地壳中存在LV1、LV2、LV33个岩浆囊,深度范围分别为10~30km、10~30km及10~26km;LV1和LV2主要沿着腾冲断裂分布,以怒江断裂为东边界,LV3位于怒江断裂与龙陵-瑞丽断裂之间,这些断层控制着火山区的岩浆活动。1976年龙陵M_(S)7.3和M_(S)7.4地震的震源区下方存在低速层,震源区断层裂隙发育,岩浆、流体等可能参与了地震成核过程。腾冲—保山地区的上地幔60~120km深度内普遍存在低速异常,并且在腾冲下方向上延伸与地壳中的低速区相连。上地幔中的大型低速层可能为地壳中岩浆存储层提供岩浆物质,软流圈上涌导致岩石圈拉张与减薄,导致腾冲火山的形成。 展开更多

为简化爆震推进系统仿真过程机理与网格的遴选工作,提高计算效率,分别采用单步与19步H_(2)/Air化学反应机理在长宽比为20的计算域中开展了爆震波的二维数值模拟,详细计算了0.5、0.4、0.2、0.1、0.08、0.04、0.02 mm共7种网格尺度下爆震... 为简化爆震推进系统仿真过程机理与网格的遴选工作,提高计算效率,分别采用单步与19步H_(2)/Air化学反应机理在长宽比为20的计算域中开展了爆震波的二维数值模拟,详细计算了0.5、0.4、0.2、0.1、0.08、0.04、0.02 mm共7种网格尺度下爆震波的传播过程,得到了爆震波胞格结构、爆震波特征参数等的变化规律。研究表明:采用单步或19步机理模拟得到的爆震波胞格结构的临界网格尺度分别为0.1 mm与0.4 mm,且网格尺度越小越容易获得爆震波胞格结构;爆震波胞格结构平均宽度与网格尺度呈线性关系;较大网格尺度会高估爆震波波峰面的静温与静压,但压力平台区的模拟结果几乎不受网格尺度与机理的影响;相较于多步机理,单步机理表现出的较短的点火延迟特性使模拟出的爆震波胞格结构边缘更细腻,使自持传播的爆震波更易获得。 展开更多

针对步进频连续波(SFCW)探地雷达(GPR)传统仿真方法因需逐频点计算而导致的耗时长、灵活性差问题,提出一种基于冲激响应的快速仿真方法。该方法将GPR系统建模为线性时不变系统,通过计算其冲激响应并与输入信号卷积来获取对应的回波信号... 针对步进频连续波(SFCW)探地雷达(GPR)传统仿真方法因需逐频点计算而导致的耗时长、灵活性差问题,提出一种基于冲激响应的快速仿真方法。该方法将GPR系统建模为线性时不变系统,通过计算其冲激响应并与输入信号卷积来获取对应的回波信号,并求解出系统传递函数用于SFCW的回波信号计算,从而有效避免了每个频率的重复仿真,显著提高仿真效率。研究结果表明,该方法在确保仿真结果准确性的前提下,显著提升了仿真效率(仿真时间约为传统方法的16.4%),且与实际测量结果的误差控制在4.34%以内。所提方法有效解决了现有GPR仿真耗时长、资源消耗大的问题,为探地雷达的高效仿真及在复杂环境下的应用提供技术支撑。 展开更多

步进频连续波探地雷达系统易受耦合噪声、地谐波噪声及外界电磁波干扰等复杂噪声影响,导致信号质量下降,严重影响目标探测精度。传统去噪方法(如小波变换、均值聚类及模糊均值聚类)在脉冲雷达系统中表现良好,但其对连续波雷达信号的时... 步进频连续波探地雷达系统易受耦合噪声、地谐波噪声及外界电磁波干扰等复杂噪声影响,导致信号质量下降,严重影响目标探测精度。传统去噪方法(如小波变换、均值聚类及模糊均值聚类)在脉冲雷达系统中表现良好,但其对连续波雷达信号的时域累积噪声的抑制能力仍存在不足。针对该问题,文章提出一种基于变分模态分解算法的步进频连续波探地雷达噪声抑制方法。该方法将含噪信号分解为若干本征模态函数,并基于模态函数的中心频率进行有效信号重构,从而显著提升去噪效果。仿真结果表明,该方法可使信噪比提升至13.16 dB;并通过实验进一步验证了该方法对噪声的有效抑制能力,其中处理后的高频和低频噪声功率谱密度均近似为0W/Hz。该研究为复杂噪声环境下探地雷达的应用提供了更可靠的解决方案。 展开更多
