In the first place, the assumptions of prior and posterior probability density function (PDF) with quantized innovations in the previous papers are analyzed. After that, an innovative Gaussian mixture estimator is proposed. On this basis, this paper presents a Gaussian mixture state estimation algorithm based on quantized innovations for WSNs. In order to evaluate and compare the performance of this kind of state estimation algo- rithms for WSNs, the posterior Cram6r-Rao lower bound (CRLB) with quantized innovations is put forward. Performance analysis and simulations show that the proposed Gaussian mixture state estimation algorithm is efficient than the others under the same number of quantization levels and the performance of these algorithms can be benchmarked by the theoretical lower bound.展开更多

Screen-printed graphite-based ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) and screen-printed reference electrodes based on silver-containing pastes have been applied in a space saving manner on common ceramic substrates with small dimensions. Applications to environmental samples are shown by direct potentiometry and potentiometric titrations in real water samples. Conducting polymers (CPs) have been used as solid-contact materials and as intermediate layer between the polyvinyl chloride (PVC)-containing ion-selective membrane and the graphite-containing substrate. Different diamides have been incorporated into the PVC membrane. In the range from 10-4 mol/L to 10-1 mol/L, the ISEs show linear slopes of 27 mV/decade, which is close to the Nernstian response. Moreover, the ISEs have response times of 6 months. The novel potentiometric ASS sensors enable simple and exact Ca2+ determinations in real samples.展开更多

The ionic conductivities of such solid-electrolytes reach values as high as 10-4 S. cm-1 at room temperature. At proper content of each component in the solid-electrolyte the polymeric film has a porous network microstructure of three dimen-sions,and exhibits a good level of mechanical properties and dimensional stability. The full-solid-state elec-trochemical cell contains two coplanar electrodes coated by a thin layer of PAN-DMSO-TBAP solid-elec-trolyte: a Au microdisk as working electrode and a Ag ring counter/reference electrode. This study has shown that the integrated two-electrode assembly can be directly used for the amperometric solid-state car-bon dioxide gas sensor devices, and it shows good response characteristics for direct amperometric determi-nation of the CO2 concentration in the gas phase. Also, such full-solid-state amperometric sensor devices possess their own original advantages.展开更多

In previous studies, it is assumed that different kinds of sensors are with the same sampling rate, and they are used for state estimation by the KF simultaneously. However, it is hard to achieve state estimation using various kinds of sensor measurements at the same sampling rate due to a complex network and physical characteristic differences between sensors, especially in an advanced multisensor architecture. For this purpose, a multi-rate sensor fusion using the information filtering approach is proposed based on the square-root cubature rule, which is called Multi-rate Squareroot Cubature Information Filter(MSCIF) to track engine performance degradation. Soft measurement synchronization of the MSCIF is designed to provide a sensor fusion condition for multiple sampling rates of measurement, and a fault sensor is isolated by maximum likelihood validation before state estimation. The contribution of this paper is to supply a novel multi-rate informationfilter approach for sensor fault tolerant health estimation of an aero-engine in a multi-sensor system. Tests are conducted for aero-engine performance degradation estimation with multiple sampling rates of sensor measurement on both digital simulation and semi-physical experiment.Experimental results illustrate the superiority of the proposed algorithm in terms of degradation estimation accuracy and robustness to sensor failure in a multi-sensor system.展开更多

Controlled laboratory simulation tests were conducted in a 1-m3 environmental chamber at different AERs (0.1-10.0 hr-1). AERs were determined using the decay method based on box model assumptions. Field tests were conducted in classrooms, dormitories, meeting rooms and apartments during 2-5 weekdays using CO2 sensors coupled with data loggers. Indoor temperature, relative humidity (RH), and CO2 concentrations were continuously monitored while outdoor parameters combined with on-site climate conditions were recorded. Statistical results indicated that good laboratory performance was achieved: duplicate precision was within 10%, and the measured AERs were 90%-120% of the real AERs. Average AERs were 1.22, 1.37, 1.10, 1.91 and 0.73 hr-l in dormitories, air-conditioned classrooms, classrooms with an air circulation cooling system, reading rooms, and meeting rooms, respectively. In an elderly particulate matter exposure study, all the homes had AER values ranging from 0.29 to 3.46 hr-1 in fall, and 0.12 to 1.39 hr-1 in winter with a median AER of 1.15.展开更多

The delay occurs in a multi-step and asynchronous manner, and the delay probability of each sensor is assumed to be known or unknown. Firstly, a new model is constructed to describe the measurement process, based on which a new particle filter is developed with the ability to fuse multi-sensor information in the case of known delay probability. In addition, an online delay probability estimation module is introduced in the particle filtering framework, which leads to another new filter that can be implemented without the prior knowledge of delay probability. More importantly, since there is no complex iterative operation, the resulting filter can be implemented recursively and is suitable for many real-time applications. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed filters.展开更多
