Study on Optimization of Two-Stage Phase Change Heat Storage Coupled Solar-Air Source Heat Pump Heating System in Severe Cold Region

The development of efficient and clean heating technologies is crucial for reducing carbon emissions in regions with severe cold regions.This research designs a novel two-stage phase change heat storage coupled solar-air source heat pump heating system structure that is specifically designed for such regions.The two-stage heat storage device in this heating system expands the storage temperature range of solar heat.The utilization of the two-stage heat storage device not onlymakes up for the instability of the solar heating system,but can also directlymeet the building heating temperature,and can reduce the influence of low-temperature outdoor environments in severe cold regions on the heating performance of the air source heat pump by using solar energy.Therefore,the two-stage phase change heat storage coupled to the solar energy-air source heat pump heating system effectively improves the utilization rate of solar energy.A numerical model of the system components and their integration was developed using TRNSYS software in this study,and various performance aspects of the system were simulated and analyzed.The simulation results demonstrated that the two-stage heat storage device can effectively store solar energy,enabling its hierarchical utilization.The low-temperature solar energy stored by the two-stage phase change heat storage device enhances the coefficient of performance of the air source heat pump by 11.1%in severe cold conditions.Using the Hooke-Jeeves optimization method,the annual cost and carbon emissions are taken as optimization objectives,with the optimized solar heat supply accounting for 52.5%.This study offers valuable insights into operational strategies and site selection for engineering applications,providing a solid theoretical foundation for the widespread implementation of this system in severe cold regions. 展开更多

This article proposes a multidisciplinary design and optimization (MDO) strategy for the conceptual design of a multistage ground-based interceptor (GBI) using hybrid optimization algorithm, which associates genetic algorithm (GA) as a global optimizer with sequential quadratic programming (SQP) as a local optimizer. The interceptor is comprised of a three-stage solid propulsion system for an exoatmospheric boost phase intercept (BPI). The interceptor's duty is to deliver a kinetic kill vehicle (KKV) to the optimal position in space to accomplish the mission of intercept. The modules for propulsion, aerodynamics, mass properties and flight dynamics are integrated to produce a high fidelity model of the entire vehicle. The propulsion module com- prises of solid rocket motor (SRM) grain design, nozzle geometry design and performance prediction analysis. Internal ballistics and performance prediction parameters are calculated by using lumped parameter method. The design objective is to minimize the gross lift off mass (GLOM) of the interceptor under the mission constraints and performance objectives. The proposed design and optimization methodology provide designers with an efficient and powerful approach in computation during designing interceptor systems. 展开更多

Efficiency and emissions of spark-ignited engines are significantly affected by combustion phase which can usually be indicated by crank angle of 50% mass burnt (CA50). Managing combustion phase at the optimal value at which the maximal efficiency can be achieved is a challenging issue due to the cyclic variations of combustion process. This paper addresses this issue in two loops: CA50 set-point optimization (outer loop) and set-point tracking (inner loop) by controlling spark advance (SA). Extremum seeking approach maximizing thermal efficiency is employed in the CA50 set-point optimization. A proportional- integral (PI) controller is adopted to make the moving average value of CA50 tracking the optimal CA50 set-point determined in the outer loop. Moreover, in order to obtain fast responses at steady and transient operations, feed-forward maps are designed for extremum seeking controller and PI controller, respectively. Finally, experimental validations are conducted on a six-cylinder gasoline at steady and transient operations to show the effectiveness of proposed control scheme. 展开更多

AIM To optimize the hepatobiliary phase delay time(HBPDT) of Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging(GED-MRI) for more efficient identification of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) occurring in different degrees of cirrhosis assessed by Child-Pugh(CP) score.METHODS The liver parenchyma signal intensity(LPSI), the liver parenchyma(LP)/HCC signal ratios, and the visibility of HCC at HBP-DT of 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 min(i.e., DT-5, DT-10, DT-15, DT-20, and DT-25) after injection of GdEOB-DTPA were collected and analyzed in 73 patients with cirrhosis of different degrees of severity(including 42 patients suffering from HCC) and 18 healthy adult controls.RESULTS The LPSI increased with HBP-DT more significantly in the healthy group than in the cirrhosis group(F = 17.361, P < 0.001). The LP/HCC signal ratios had a significant difference(F = 12.453, P < 0.001) among various HBP-DT points, as well as between CP-A and CP-B/C subgroups(F = 9.761, P < 0.001). The constituent ratios of HCC foci identified as obvious hypointensity(+++), moderate hypointensity(++), and mild hypointensity or isointensity(+/-) kept stable from DT-10 to DT-25: 90.6%, 9.4%, and 0.0% in the CP-A subgroup; 50.0%, 50.0%, and 0.0% in the CP-B subgroup; and 0.0%, 0.0%, and 100.0% in the CP-C subgroup, respectively.CONCLUSION The severity of liver cirrhosis has significant negative influence on the HCC visualization by GED-MRI. DT-10 is more efficient and practical than other HBP-DT points to identify most of HCC foci emerging in CP-A cirrhosis, as well as in CP-B cirrhosis; but an HBP-DT of 15 min or longer seems more appropriate than DT-10 for visualization of HCC in patients with CP-C cirrhosis. 展开更多

A cycle length minimization problem was considered to generate optimal signal timings for roundabout, and a set of constraints to ensure feasibility and safety of the resulting optimal signal settings were proposed. Extensive experimental analyses in comparison with signalized intersection reveal that the proposed model is quite promising for application in design of roundabout signals, and the minimum cycle length can decrease from 186 s to 79 s while the capacity increases from 8 682 pcu/h to 9 011 pcu/h under high demand scenario. Sensitivity analysis with respect to the system performance show that the lane assignment plan, number of circulatory lanes and left turn ratio are three critical factors which have dominate impacts on performance of signalized roundabout 展开更多

Minimum length scale control on real and void material phases in topology optimization is an important topic of research with direct implications on numerical stability and solution manufacturability.And it also is a challenge area of research due to serious conflicts of both the solid and the void phase element densities in phase mixing domains of the topologies obtained by existing methods.Moreover,there is few work dealing with controlling distinct minimum feature length scales of real and void phase materials used in topology designs.A new method for solving the minimum length scale controlling problem of real and void material phases,is proposed.Firstly,we introduce two sets of coordinating design variable filters for these two material phases,and two distinct smooth Heaviside projection functions to destroy the serious conflicts in the existing methods(e.g.vip Comput Methods Appl Mech Eng 199(14):123-135,2009).Then,by introducing an adaptive weighted 2-norm aggregation constraint function,we construct a coordinating topology optimization model to ensure distinct minimum length scale controls of real and void phase materials for the minimum compliance problem.By adopting a varied volume constraint limit scheme,this coordinating topology optimization model is transferred into a series of coordinating topology optimization sub-models so that the structural topology configuration can stably and smoothly changes during an optimization process.The structural topology optimization sub-models are solved by the method of moving asymptotes(MMA).Then,the proposed method is extended to the compliant mechanism design problem.Numerical examples are given to demonstrate that the proposed method is effective and can obtain a good 0/1 distribution final topology. 展开更多

In this paper, a new partial transmit sequence(PTS)scheme with low computational complexity is proposed for the problems of high computational complexity in the conventional PTS method. By analyzing the relationship of candidate sequences in the PTS method under the interleaved partition method, it has been discovered that some candidate sequences generated by phase factor sequences have the same peak average power ratio(PAPR). Hence, phase factor sequences can be optimized to reduce their searching times. Then, the computational process of generating candidate sequences can be simplified by improving the utilization of data and minimizing the calculations of complex multiplication. The performance analysis shows that, compared with the conventional PTS scheme, the proposed approach significantly decreases the computational complexity and has no loss of PAPR performance. 展开更多

Several complicated methods, such as Fisher Information based method, have already been taken to optimize for the best pupil phase mask in ideal condition. Here one simple point spread function (PSF) based method with only the standard deviation method used to evaluate the PSF stability over the depth of focus is taken to optimize for the best coefficients of pupil phase mask in practical optical systems. Results of imaging simulations for optical systems with and without pupil phase mask are presented, and the sharpness of image is calculated for comparison. The optimized results showed better and much more stable imaging quality over the original system without changing the position of the image plane. 展开更多

This research study aims to enhance the optimization performance of a newly emerged Aquila Optimization algorithm by incorporating chaotic sequences rather than using uniformly generated Gaussian random numbers.This work employs 25 different chaotic maps under the framework of Aquila Optimizer.It considers the ten best chaotic variants for performance evaluation on multidimensional test functions composed of unimodal and multimodal problems,which have yet to be studied in past literature works.It was found that Ikeda chaotic map enhanced Aquila Optimization algorithm yields the best predictions and becomes the leading method in most of the cases.To test the effectivity of this chaotic variant on real-world optimization problems,it is employed on two constrained engineering design problems,and its effectiveness has been verified.Finally,phase equilibrium and semi-empirical parameter estimation problems have been solved by the proposed method,and respective solutions have been compared with those obtained from state-of-art optimizers.It is observed that CH01 can successfully cope with the restrictive nonlinearities and nonconvexities of parameter estimation and phase equilibrium problems,showing the capabilities of yielding minimum prediction error values of no more than 0.05 compared to the remaining algorithms utilized in the performance benchmarking process. 展开更多

Existing linkage-optimization methods are designed for mechanical presses; few can be directly used for servo presses, so development of the servo press is limited. Based on the complementarity of linkage opti- mization and motion planning, a phase-division-based linkage-optimization model for a drawing servo press is established. Considering the motion-planning principles of a drawing servo press, and taking account of work rating and efficiency, the constraints of the optimization model are constructed. Linkage is optimized in two modes: use of either constant eccentric speed or constant slide speed in the work segments. The performances of optimized link- ages are compared with those of a mature linkage SL4- 2000A, which is optimized by a traditional method. The results show that the work rating of a drawing servo press equipped with linkages optimized by this new method improved and the root-mean-square torque of the servo motors is reduced by more than 10%. This research pro- vides a promising method for designing energy-saving drawing servo presses with high work ratings. 展开更多

In order to address the synergistic optimization of energy efficiency improvement in the waste incineration power plant(WIPP)and renewable energy accommodation,an electricity-hydrogen-waste multi-energy system integrated with phase change material(PCM)thermal storage is proposed.First,a thermal energy management framework is constructed,combining PCM thermal storage with the alkaline electrolyzer(AE)waste heat recovery and the heat pump(HP),while establishing a PCM-driven waste drying system to enhance the efficiency of waste incineration power generation.Next,a flue gas treatment method based on purification-separation-storage coordination is adopted,achieving spatiotemporal decoupling between waste incineration and flue gas treatment.Subsequently,a two-stage optimal dispatching strategy for the multi-energy system is developed:the first stage establishes a dayahead economic dispatch model with the objective of minimizing net system costs,while the second stage introduces model predictive control(MPC)to realize intraday rolling optimization.Finally,The optimal dispatching strategies under different scenarios are obtained using the Gurobi solver,followed by a comparative analysis of the optimized operational outcomes.Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed system optimizes the output and operational states of each unit,simultaneously reducing carbon trading costs while increasing electricity sales revenue.The proposed scheduling strategy demonstrates effective grid peak-shaving functionality,thereby simultaneously improving the system’s economic performance and operational flexibility while providing an innovative technical pathway for municipal solid waste(MSW)resource utilization and low-carbon transformation of energy systems. 展开更多

In aero engine design, determining whether the preliminary design will have disruptive effects on the detailed design is the key to multidisciplinary design optimization in the preliminary design stage. In order to adapt to the non-orthogonal parameter value range caused by the selfconstrained parametric modeling method, a non-orthogonal space mapping method that maps the optimal Latin hypercube sampling points of the traditional orthogonal design space to the non-orthogonal design space is proposed. Based on the logical regression method in machine learning field, a kind of feasible domain boundary identification method is employed to identify whether the sample spatial response meets the relevant criteria. The method proposed in this paper is used to identify and analyze the key technologies of the high-pressure turbine mortise joint structure. It is found that the preliminary design of the aero engine may lead to the failure to obtain a mortise joint structure meeting the design requirements in the detailed design stage. The mortise joint structure needs to be pre-optimized in the preliminary design stage. 展开更多

Although the phase-shift seismic processing method has characteristics of high accuracy, good stability, high efficiency, and high-dip imaging, it is not able to adapt to strong lateral velocity variation. To overcome this defect, a finite-difference method in the frequency-space domain is introduced in the migration process, because it can adapt to strong lateral velocity variation and the coefficient is optimized by a hybrid genetic and simulated annealing algorithm. The two measures improve the precision of the approximation dispersion equation. Thus, the imaging effect is improved for areas of high-dip structure and strong lateral velocity variation. The migration imaging of a 2-D SEG/EAGE salt dome model proves that a better imaging effect in these areas is achieved by optimized phase-shift migration operator plus a finite-difference method based on a hybrid genetic and simulated annealing algorithm. The method proposed in this paper is better than conventional methods in imaging of areas of high-dip angle and strong lateral velocity variation. 展开更多

A gas-phase surface discharge(GSD)was employed to optimize the discharge reactor structure and investigate the dye degradation.A dye mixture of methylene blue,acid orange and methyl orange was used as a model pollutant.The results indicated that the reactor structure of the GSD system with the ratio of tube inner surface area and volume of 2.48,screw pitch between a high-voltage electrode of 9.7 mm,high-voltage electrode wire diameter of 0.8 mm,dielectric tube thickness of2.0 mm and tube inner diameter of 16.13 mm presented a better ozone(O_3)generation efficiency.Furthermore,a larger screw pitch and smaller wire diameter enhanced the O_3generation.After the dye mixture degradation by the optimized GSD system,73.21%and 50.74%of the chemical oxygen demand(COD)and total organic carbon removal rate were achieved within 20 min,respectively,and the biochemical oxygen demand(BOD)and biodegradability(BOD/COD)improved. 展开更多
