Enhancement of Real Power Transfer Capability of Transmission Lines

As power system interconnections become more prevalent, there has been an increase in use of thyristor controlled shunt connected compensation devices for dynamic power compensation and enhancement of real power transmission capacity. In this paper, an enhancement technique of real power transfer capacity of transmission lines is presented. A SVC (static var compensator) is designed and applied to a simple power system for this purpose. Increase in power flow and improvement in bus voltage profile are observed after using the SVC. Stability analysis of the system after experiencing fault as well as consequent fault clearance by time domain analysis has also beeu performed and satisfactory results are obtained. 展开更多

Diode rectifier unit(DRU)-based high-voltage direct current(HVDC)transmissionsystems areeffectivein achieving the stableandeconomical operation of offshore wind-powergeneration.Considering theuncontrollable characteristicsof DRUs,a grid-forming(GFM)strategy forwind-turbine converters isnecessary to support offshore AC voltageand frequency.However,the active power-synchronization control in traditional GFM converters is unsuitable for DRU-based GFM converters.Thus,the stability issue for DRU-based HVDC systems involving DRU-based GFM and grid-following(GFL)converters has not yet been addressed.To solve these issues,this study begins with the characteristics of a DRU-based HVDC system and presents a control scheme for DRU-based GFM converters for power synchronization.Subsequently,the dq-frame impedance model of the DRU-based GFM converteris proposed for the stability analysis of the entire HVDC system.Finally,a simulation platform is built to verify the model accuracy and system stability. 展开更多

The unbalanced state of charge(SOC)of distributed energy storage systems(DESSs)in autonomous DC microgrid causes energy storage units(ESUs)to terminate operation due to overcharge or overdischarge,which severely affects the power quality.In this paper,a fuzzy droop control for SOC balance and stability analysis of DC microgrid with DESSs is proposed to achieve SOC balance in ESUs while maintaining a stable DC bus voltage.First,the charge and discharge modes of ESUs are determined based on the power supply requirements of the DC microgrid.One-dimensional fuzzy logic is then applied to establish the relationship between SOC and the droop coefficient R,in the aforementioned two modes.In addition,when integrated with voltage-current double closed-loop control,SOC balance in different ESUs is realized.To improve the balance speed and precision,an exponential acceleration factor is added to the input variable of the fuzzy controller.Finally,based on the average model of converter,the system-level stability of microgrid is analyzed.MATLAB/Simulink simulation results verify the effectiveness and rationality of the proposed method. 展开更多

In this paper,we propose detailed and reasonable viral dynamics by using a multi-compartment model that incorporating the age since the infection of multiple infectedcells,multiple target cells(Langerhans-cells and CD4^(+)T-cells),multiple viral strains(CCR5 and CXR4 HIV)and multiple infection routes(cell-to-cell and cell-to-virus).Thebasic reproduction number,R_(0),of the whole model is derived from two transmissionmechanisms:one is the potential trigger from the infection routes for a single target celland other is the joint effect of multiple viral infections for multi-target cells.Accordingly,we study the global stability of the steady states for the single target model.For thewhole model,we prove that the infection-free steady state is globally asymptoticallystable if R_(0)<1,whereas viruses persist uniformly if R_(0)>1.Numerical simulations arecarried out to illustrate the theoretical results.Sensitive analyses expound the effect ofmodel parameters on the comprehensive reproduction number.It is remarkable to findthat simultaneous control of HlV infection for two target cells can effectively reducethe viral loads within-host.Finally,our work suggests that the synergetic mechanism ofmulti-target cells and multi-strain cannot be ignored during treatment. 展开更多
