The traditional symmetrical travel time equation is derived based on the assumption of a layered model. It is difficult to achieve the desired effect of focusing in media with strong lateral variation. The nonsymmetrical travel time equation based on Lie algebra and a pseudo-differential operator contains a lateral velocity derivative which can improve the focusing capability even in strongly lateral variable media and also the computation precision of the weight coefficients for relative amplitude preservation. Compared with the symmetrical methods, the nonsymmetrical method is more effective. In this paper, we describe several key steps of nonsymmetric pre-stack travel time calculation and present some test results using synthetic and real data.展开更多

Only the case that both kinds of atoms have nonzero distribution at the center of an isotropic trap is considered. In this case the TFA has been found to work nicely. This research presents the square root sum of squares response of displacements and tunnel moments under the Kobe and Loma Prieta seismic excitations with a peak ground acceleration of 0.05 g for various dry relative ...This research presents the square root sum of squares response of displacements and tunnel moments under the Kobe and Loma Prieta seismic excitations with a peak ground acceleration of 0.05 g for various dry relative densities of local sand in Bangladesh.For this reason,a one-dimensional gravitational shake table test was performed after calibration to determine the seismic performance of the concrete tunnel-sand-pile interaction model.A vertical 40 kg load was applied on each pile cap along with the seismic excitations.The experimental results obtained were compared with the previous numerical study conducted by using field data so as to better interpret the variations of results.In the case of vertical sand displacement,the ratio between the previous field data obtained through numerical study and the present study is found to be 0.96.Moreover,the experimental results were compared with the 3D full-scale numerical analysis results of Plaxis considering the Mohr-Coulomb constitutive model of sand.Variations of experimental and numerical results show a satisfactory level of alignment with the previously published work.According to the shake table test results,the lateral displacement of the tunnel is greater than the vertical displacement because of the transverse directional seismic excitation on the tunnel body.The minimum difference between lateral and vertical displacements of the tunnel is found to be 31%for a relative density of 27%under the Loma Prieta earthquake.However,this research may be advanced in the future by considering various peak ground accelerations,tunnel-pile clearance,and geometric properties.展开更多

The van Genuchten model is the most widely used soil water retention curve (SWRC) model. Two undisturbed soils (clay and loam) were used to evaluate the accuracy of the integral method to estimate van Genuchten mo...The van Genuchten model is the most widely used soil water retention curve (SWRC) model. Two undisturbed soils (clay and loam) were used to evaluate the accuracy of the integral method to estimate van Genuchten model parameters and to determine SWRCs of undisturbed soils. SWRCs calculated by the integral method were compared with those measured by a high speed centrifuge technique. The accuracy of the calculated results was evaluated graphically, as well as by root mean square error (RMSE), normalized root mean square error (NRMSE) and Willmott's index of agreement (1). The results obtained from the integral method were quite similar to those by the centrifuge technique. The RMSEs (4.61 ×10^-5 for Eum-Orthic Anthrosol and 2.74 × 10^-4 for Los-Orthic Entisol) and NRMSEs (1.56 × 10^-4 for Eum- Orthic Anthrosol and 1.45 ×10^-3 for Los-Orthic Entisol) were relatively small. The 1 values were 0.973 and 0.943 for Eum-Orthic Anthrosol and Los-Orthic Entisol, respectively, indicating a good agreement between the integral method values and the centrifuge values. Therefore, the integral method could be used to estimate SWRCs of undisturbed clay and loam soils.展开更多

The HY-2 significant wave height (SWH) is validated by the data from the South China Sea (SCS) field experiment, National Data Buoy Center (NDBC/ buoys and Jason-1/2 altimeters, and is corrected using a linear regression with in-situ measurements. Com- pared with NDBC SWH, the HY-2 SWH show a RMS of 0.36 m, which is similar to Jason- 1 and Jason-2 SWH with the RMS of 0.35 m and 0.37 m respectively; the RMS of corrected HY-2 SWH is 0.27 m, similar to 0.27 m and 0.23 m of corrected Jason-1 and Jason-2 SWH. Therefore the accuracy of HY-2 SWH products is close to that of Jason-1/2 SWH, and the linear regression function derived can improve the accuracy of HY-2 SWH products.展开更多
Caprock is a water-saturated formation with a sufficient entry capillary pressure to prevent the upward migration of a buoyant fluid. When the entry capillary pressure of caprock is smaller than the pressure exerted b...Caprock is a water-saturated formation with a sufficient entry capillary pressure to prevent the upward migration of a buoyant fluid. When the entry capillary pressure of caprock is smaller than the pressure exerted by the buoyant CO2plume, CO2gradually penetrates into the caprock. The CO2penetration depth into a caprock layer can be used to measure the caprock sealing efficiency and becomes the key issue to the assessment of caprock sealing efficiency. On the other hand, our numerical simulations on a caprock layer have revealed that a square root law for time and pore pressure exists for the CO2penetration into the caprock layer. Based on this finding, this study proposes a simple approach to estimate the CO2penetration depth into a caprock layer. This simple approach is initially developed to consider the speed of CO2invading front. It explicitly expresses the penetration depth with pressuring time, pressure difference and pressure magnitude. This simple approach is then used to fit three sets of experimental data and good fittings are observed regardless of pressures, strengths of porous media, and pore fluids(water,hydrochloric acid, and carbonic acid). Finally, theoretical analyses are conducted to explore those factors affecting CO2penetration depth. The effects of capillary pressure, gas sorption induced swelling, and fluid property are then included in this simple approach. These results show that this simple approach can predict the penetration depth into a caprock layer with sufficient accuracy, even if complicated interactions in penetration process are not explicitly expressed in this simple formula.展开更多

However, in this framework there are two important potential limitatio...FastSLAM is a popular framework which uses a Rao-Blackwellized particle filter to solve the simultaneous localization and mapping problem(SLAM). However, in this framework there are two important potential limitations, the particle depletion problem and the linear approximations of the nonlinear functions. To overcome these two drawbacks, this paper proposes a new FastSLAM algorithm based on revised genetic resampling and square root unscented particle filter(SR-UPF). Double roulette wheels as the selection operator, and fast Metropolis-Hastings(MH) as the mutation operator and traditional crossover are combined to form a new resampling method. Amending the particle degeneracy and keeping the particle diversity are both taken into considerations in this method. As SR-UPF propagates the sigma points through the true nonlinearity, it decreases the linearization errors. By directly transferring the square root of the state covariance matrix, SR-UPF has better numerical stability. Both simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can improve the diversity of particles, and perform well on estimation accuracy and consistency.展开更多
In order to detect and assess the muscle fatigue state with the surface electromyography(sEMG) characteristic parameters,this paper carried out a series of isometric contraction experiments to induce the fatigue on th...In order to detect and assess the muscle fatigue state with the surface electromyography(sEMG) characteristic parameters,this paper carried out a series of isometric contraction experiments to induce the fatigue on the forearm muscles from four subjects,and recorded the sEMG signals of the flexor carpi ulnaris.sEMG's median frequency(MDF) and mean frequency(MF) were extracted by short term Fourier transform(STFT),and the root mean square(RMS) of wavelet coefficients in the frequency band of 5—45 Hz was obtained by continuous wavelet transform(CWT).The results demonstrate that both MDF and MF show downward trends within 1 min; however,RMS shows an upward trend within the same time.The three parameters are closely correlated with absolute values of mean correlation coefficients greater than 0.8.It is suggested that the three parameters above can be used as reliable indicators to evaluate the level of muscle fatigue during isometric contractions.展开更多
Salinization is a gradual process that should be monitored.Modelling is a suitable alternative technique that saves time and cost for the field monitoring.But the performance of the models should be evaluated using th...Salinization is a gradual process that should be monitored.Modelling is a suitable alternative technique that saves time and cost for the field monitoring.But the performance of the models should be evaluated using the measured data.Therefore,the aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the SALTMED and HYDRUS-1D models using the measured soil water content,soil salinity and wheat yield data under different levels of saline irrigation water and groundwater depth.The field experiment was conducted in 2013 and in this research three controlled groundwater depths,i.e.,60(CD60),80(CD80)and 100(CD100)cm and two salinity levels of irrigation water,i.e.,4(EC4)and 8(EC8)dS/m were used in a complete randomized design with three replications.Soil water content and soil salinity were measured in soil profile and compared with the predicted values by the SALTMED and HYDRUS-1D models.Calibrations of the SALTMED and HYDRUS-1D models were carried out using the measured data under EC4-CD100 treatment and the data of the other treatments were used for validation.The statistical parameters including normalized root mean square error(NRMSE)and degree of agreement(d)showed that the values for predicting soil water content and soil salinity were more accurate in the HYDRUS-1D model than in the SALTMED model.The NRMSE and d values of the HYDRUS-1D model were 9.6%and 0.64 for the predicted soil water content and 6.2%and 0.98 for the predicted soil salinity,respectively.These indices of the SALTMED model were 10.6%and 0.81 for the predicted soil water content and 11.0%and 0.97 for the predicted soil salinity,respectively.According to the NRMSE and d values for the predicted wheat yield(9.8%and 0.91,respectively)and dry matter(2.9%and 0.99,respectively),we concluded that the SALTMED model predicted the wheat yield and dry matter accurately.展开更多
For the unforced dynamical non-linear state–space model,a new Q1 and efficient square root extended kernel recursive least square estimation algorithm is developed in this article.The proposed algorithm lends itself ...For the unforced dynamical non-linear state–space model,a new Q1 and efficient square root extended kernel recursive least square estimation algorithm is developed in this article.The proposed algorithm lends itself towards the parallel implementation as in the FPGA systems.With the help of an ortho-normal triangularization method,which relies on numerically stable givens rotation,matrix inversion causes a computational burden,is reduced.Matrix computation possesses many excellent numerical properties such as singularity,symmetry,skew symmetry,and triangularity is achieved by using this algorithm.The proposed method is validated for the prediction of stationary and non-stationary Mackey–Glass Time Series,along with that a component in the x-direction of the Lorenz Times Series is also predicted to illustrate its usefulness.By the learning curves regarding mean square error(MSE)are witnessed for demonstration with prediction performance of the proposed algorithm from where it’s concluded that the proposed algorithm performs better than EKRLS.This new SREKRLS based design positively offers an innovative era towards non-linear systolic arrays,which is efficient in developing very-large-scale integration(VLSI)applications with non-linear input data.Multiple experiments are carried out to validate the reliability,effectiveness,and applicability of the proposed algorithm and with different noise levels compared to the Extended kernel recursive least-squares(EKRLS)algorithm.展开更多
Paris law can reflect the failure mechanism of materials and is usually used to be a method to predict fatigue life or residual fatigue life.But the variable which can represent the health of machine is hardly measure...Paris law can reflect the failure mechanism of materials and is usually used to be a method to predict fatigue life or residual fatigue life.But the variable which can represent the health of machine is hardly measured on line.To a degree,the difficulty of on-line application restricts the scope of application of Paris law.The relationship between characteristic values of vibration signals and the variable in the Paris equation which can describe the health of machine is investigated by taking ball bearings as investigative objects.Based on 6205 deep groove ball bearings as a living example,historical lives and vibration signals are analyzed.The feasibility of describing that variable in the Paris equation by the characteristic value of vibration signals is inspected.After that vibration signals decomposed by empirical mode decomposition(EMD),root mean square(RMS) of intrinsic mode function(IMF) involving fault characteristic frequency has a consistent trend with the diameter of flaws.Based on the trend,two improved Paris models are proposed and the scope of application of them is inspected.These two Paris Models are validated by fatigue residual life data from tests of rolling element bearings and vibration signals monitored in the process of operation of rolling element bearings.It shows that the first improved Paris Model is simple and plain and it can be easily applied in actual conditions.The trend of the fatigue residual life predicted by the second improved Paris model is close to the actual conditions and the result of the prediction is slightly greater than the truth.In conclusion,after the appearance of detectable faults,these improved models based on RMS can predict residual fatigue life on line and a new approach to predict residual fatigue life of ball bearings on line without disturbing the machine running is provided.展开更多

文摘The coupled Gross–Pitaevskii equations for two-species BEC have been solved analytically under the Thomas-Fermi approximation(TFA). Based on the analytical solution, two formulae are derived to relate the particle numbers N_A and N_B with the root mean square radii of the two kinds of atoms. Only the case that both kinds of atoms have nonzero distribution at the center of an isotropic trap is considered. In this case the TFA has been found to work nicely. Thus, the two formulae are applicable and are useful for the evaluation of N_A and N_B.
文摘This research presents the square root sum of squares response of displacements and tunnel moments under the Kobe and Loma Prieta seismic excitations with a peak ground acceleration of 0.05 g for various dry relative densities of local sand in Bangladesh.For this reason,a one-dimensional gravitational shake table test was performed after calibration to determine the seismic performance of the concrete tunnel-sand-pile interaction model.A vertical 40 kg load was applied on each pile cap along with the seismic excitations.The experimental results obtained were compared with the previous numerical study conducted by using field data so as to better interpret the variations of results.In the case of vertical sand displacement,the ratio between the previous field data obtained through numerical study and the present study is found to be 0.96.Moreover,the experimental results were compared with the 3D full-scale numerical analysis results of Plaxis considering the Mohr-Coulomb constitutive model of sand.Variations of experimental and numerical results show a satisfactory level of alignment with the previously published work.According to the shake table test results,the lateral displacement of the tunnel is greater than the vertical displacement because of the transverse directional seismic excitation on the tunnel body.The minimum difference between lateral and vertical displacements of the tunnel is found to be 31%for a relative density of 27%under the Loma Prieta earthquake.However,this research may be advanced in the future by considering various peak ground accelerations,tunnel-pile clearance,and geometric properties.

文摘The significant role of square root mapping in probability,statistics,physics,architecture and engineering motivates us to emphasize on a new radical functional equation arising from a square root and reciprocal square root mappings.The interesting attribute of this equation is that it has both a square root mapping and a reciprocal square root mapping as solutions.We establish that the hyperstabilities of this equation exist using a fixed point alternative theorem.It is also demonstrated with an example that the stability may fail in special cases.

文摘The van Genuchten model is the most widely used soil water retention curve (SWRC) model. Two undisturbed soils (clay and loam) were used to evaluate the accuracy of the integral method to estimate van Genuchten model parameters and to determine SWRCs of undisturbed soils. SWRCs calculated by the integral method were compared with those measured by a high speed centrifuge technique. The accuracy of the calculated results was evaluated graphically, as well as by root mean square error (RMSE), normalized root mean square error (NRMSE) and Willmott's index of agreement (1). The results obtained from the integral method were quite similar to those by the centrifuge technique. The RMSEs (4.61 ×10^-5 for Eum-Orthic Anthrosol and 2.74 × 10^-4 for Los-Orthic Entisol) and NRMSEs (1.56 × 10^-4 for Eum- Orthic Anthrosol and 1.45 ×10^-3 for Los-Orthic Entisol) were relatively small. The 1 values were 0.973 and 0.943 for Eum-Orthic Anthrosol and Los-Orthic Entisol, respectively, indicating a good agreement between the integral method values and the centrifuge values. Therefore, the integral method could be used to estimate SWRCs of undisturbed clay and loam soils.

文摘The HY-2 satellite was successfully launched on 16 August 2011. The HY-2 significant wave height (SWH) is validated by the data from the South China Sea (SCS) field experiment, National Data Buoy Center (NDBC/ buoys and Jason-1/2 altimeters, and is corrected using a linear regression with in-situ measurements. Com- pared with NDBC SWH, the HY-2 SWH show a RMS of 0.36 m, which is similar to Jason- 1 and Jason-2 SWH with the RMS of 0.35 m and 0.37 m respectively; the RMS of corrected HY-2 SWH is 0.27 m, similar to 0.27 m and 0.23 m of corrected Jason-1 and Jason-2 SWH. Therefore the accuracy of HY-2 SWH products is close to that of Jason-1/2 SWH, and the linear regression function derived can improve the accuracy of HY-2 SWH products.

文摘Caprock is a water-saturated formation with a sufficient entry capillary pressure to prevent the upward migration of a buoyant fluid. When the entry capillary pressure of caprock is smaller than the pressure exerted by the buoyant CO2plume, CO2gradually penetrates into the caprock. The CO2penetration depth into a caprock layer can be used to measure the caprock sealing efficiency and becomes the key issue to the assessment of caprock sealing efficiency. On the other hand, our numerical simulations on a caprock layer have revealed that a square root law for time and pore pressure exists for the CO2penetration into the caprock layer. Based on this finding, this study proposes a simple approach to estimate the CO2penetration depth into a caprock layer. This simple approach is initially developed to consider the speed of CO2invading front. It explicitly expresses the penetration depth with pressuring time, pressure difference and pressure magnitude. This simple approach is then used to fit three sets of experimental data and good fittings are observed regardless of pressures, strengths of porous media, and pore fluids(water,hydrochloric acid, and carbonic acid). Finally, theoretical analyses are conducted to explore those factors affecting CO2penetration depth. The effects of capillary pressure, gas sorption induced swelling, and fluid property are then included in this simple approach. These results show that this simple approach can predict the penetration depth into a caprock layer with sufficient accuracy, even if complicated interactions in penetration process are not explicitly expressed in this simple formula.

文摘FastSLAM is a popular framework which uses a Rao-Blackwellized particle filter to solve the simultaneous localization and mapping problem(SLAM). However, in this framework there are two important potential limitations, the particle depletion problem and the linear approximations of the nonlinear functions. To overcome these two drawbacks, this paper proposes a new FastSLAM algorithm based on revised genetic resampling and square root unscented particle filter(SR-UPF). Double roulette wheels as the selection operator, and fast Metropolis-Hastings(MH) as the mutation operator and traditional crossover are combined to form a new resampling method. Amending the particle degeneracy and keeping the particle diversity are both taken into considerations in this method. As SR-UPF propagates the sigma points through the true nonlinearity, it decreases the linearization errors. By directly transferring the square root of the state covariance matrix, SR-UPF has better numerical stability. Both simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can improve the diversity of particles, and perform well on estimation accuracy and consistency.

文摘In order to detect and assess the muscle fatigue state with the surface electromyography(sEMG) characteristic parameters,this paper carried out a series of isometric contraction experiments to induce the fatigue on the forearm muscles from four subjects,and recorded the sEMG signals of the flexor carpi ulnaris.sEMG's median frequency(MDF) and mean frequency(MF) were extracted by short term Fourier transform(STFT),and the root mean square(RMS) of wavelet coefficients in the frequency band of 5—45 Hz was obtained by continuous wavelet transform(CWT).The results demonstrate that both MDF and MF show downward trends within 1 min; however,RMS shows an upward trend within the same time.The three parameters are closely correlated with absolute values of mean correlation coefficients greater than 0.8.It is suggested that the three parameters above can be used as reliable indicators to evaluate the level of muscle fatigue during isometric contractions.

文摘Salinization is a gradual process that should be monitored.Modelling is a suitable alternative technique that saves time and cost for the field monitoring.But the performance of the models should be evaluated using the measured data.Therefore,the aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the SALTMED and HYDRUS-1D models using the measured soil water content,soil salinity and wheat yield data under different levels of saline irrigation water and groundwater depth.The field experiment was conducted in 2013 and in this research three controlled groundwater depths,i.e.,60(CD60),80(CD80)and 100(CD100)cm and two salinity levels of irrigation water,i.e.,4(EC4)and 8(EC8)dS/m were used in a complete randomized design with three replications.Soil water content and soil salinity were measured in soil profile and compared with the predicted values by the SALTMED and HYDRUS-1D models.Calibrations of the SALTMED and HYDRUS-1D models were carried out using the measured data under EC4-CD100 treatment and the data of the other treatments were used for validation.The statistical parameters including normalized root mean square error(NRMSE)and degree of agreement(d)showed that the values for predicting soil water content and soil salinity were more accurate in the HYDRUS-1D model than in the SALTMED model.The NRMSE and d values of the HYDRUS-1D model were 9.6%and 0.64 for the predicted soil water content and 6.2%and 0.98 for the predicted soil salinity,respectively.These indices of the SALTMED model were 10.6%and 0.81 for the predicted soil water content and 11.0%and 0.97 for the predicted soil salinity,respectively.According to the NRMSE and d values for the predicted wheat yield(9.8%and 0.91,respectively)and dry matter(2.9%and 0.99,respectively),we concluded that the SALTMED model predicted the wheat yield and dry matter accurately.

文摘For the unforced dynamical non-linear state–space model,a new Q1 and efficient square root extended kernel recursive least square estimation algorithm is developed in this article.The proposed algorithm lends itself towards the parallel implementation as in the FPGA systems.With the help of an ortho-normal triangularization method,which relies on numerically stable givens rotation,matrix inversion causes a computational burden,is reduced.Matrix computation possesses many excellent numerical properties such as singularity,symmetry,skew symmetry,and triangularity is achieved by using this algorithm.The proposed method is validated for the prediction of stationary and non-stationary Mackey–Glass Time Series,along with that a component in the x-direction of the Lorenz Times Series is also predicted to illustrate its usefulness.By the learning curves regarding mean square error(MSE)are witnessed for demonstration with prediction performance of the proposed algorithm from where it’s concluded that the proposed algorithm performs better than EKRLS.This new SREKRLS based design positively offers an innovative era towards non-linear systolic arrays,which is efficient in developing very-large-scale integration(VLSI)applications with non-linear input data.Multiple experiments are carried out to validate the reliability,effectiveness,and applicability of the proposed algorithm and with different noise levels compared to the Extended kernel recursive least-squares(EKRLS)algorithm.

文摘Paris law can reflect the failure mechanism of materials and is usually used to be a method to predict fatigue life or residual fatigue life.But the variable which can represent the health of machine is hardly measured on line.To a degree,the difficulty of on-line application restricts the scope of application of Paris law.The relationship between characteristic values of vibration signals and the variable in the Paris equation which can describe the health of machine is investigated by taking ball bearings as investigative objects.Based on 6205 deep groove ball bearings as a living example,historical lives and vibration signals are analyzed.The feasibility of describing that variable in the Paris equation by the characteristic value of vibration signals is inspected.After that vibration signals decomposed by empirical mode decomposition(EMD),root mean square(RMS) of intrinsic mode function(IMF) involving fault characteristic frequency has a consistent trend with the diameter of flaws.Based on the trend,two improved Paris models are proposed and the scope of application of them is inspected.These two Paris Models are validated by fatigue residual life data from tests of rolling element bearings and vibration signals monitored in the process of operation of rolling element bearings.It shows that the first improved Paris Model is simple and plain and it can be easily applied in actual conditions.The trend of the fatigue residual life predicted by the second improved Paris model is close to the actual conditions and the result of the prediction is slightly greater than the truth.In conclusion,after the appearance of detectable faults,these improved models based on RMS can predict residual fatigue life on line and a new approach to predict residual fatigue life of ball bearings on line without disturbing the machine running is provided.
