Spin currents,which are excited in indium tin oxide(ITO)/yttrium iron garnet(YIG)by the methods of spin pumping and spin Seebeck effect,are investigated through the inverse spin Hall effect(ISHE).It is demonstrated that the ISHE voltage can be generated in ITO by spin pumping under both in-plane and out-of-plane magnetization configurations.Moreover,it is observed that the enhancement of spin Hall angle and interfacial spin mixing conductance can be achieved by an appropriate annealing process.However,the ISHE voltage is hardly seen in the presence of a longitudinal temperature gradient.The absence of the longitudinal spin Seebeck effect can be ascribed to the almost equal thermal conductivity of ITO and YIG and specific interface structure,or to the large negative temperature dependent spin mixing conductance. 展开更多

Flexible piezoresistive pressure sensors can offer convenient detection of mechanical deformations for wearable electronics.Previous studies of flexible piezoresistive pressure sensors focus on the sensitivity but the low-cost and self-powered sensors remain a challenge due to the deviation of resistance signal acquisition caused by thermoelectric voltage.Here,piezoresistive pressure sensors with ultralow Seebeck coefficient of-0.72μV/K based on carbon nanotubes(CNTs)/polyethyleneimine(PEI)/melamine(CPM)sponge are reported.Due to the diminished Seebeck effect,the CPM sponge pressure sensors successfully reduce the deviation to 18.75%and can keep stable sensitivity and resistance change under a very low working voltage and change temperature environment.The stable properties of the sensors make them successful to work for real-time sensing in self-powered wearable electronics. 展开更多

In the previous study of longitudinal spin Seebeck effect(LSSE), the thermal gradient was often generated by inserting the sample between the cool bath and the hot bath. For practical use, this method is too cumbersome to be easily integrated into modern electrical circuits. Since the laser can be easily focused into a small region, it will be more convenient and friendly to the integrated circuit. In this paper, we systematically investigate the LSSE and spin Hall magnetoresistance(SMR) of the Pt/Y_3 Fe_5 O_(12) heterostructure under focused laser-heating. We find that the extremely large voltage of inverse spin Hall effect(VISHE) can be obtained by reducing the diameter of laser or increasing the number of light spots.Meanwhile, even under the illumination of the ultraviolet light which will excite the electron from the valence band to the conduction band in yttrium iron garnet(YIG), the magnitude of SMR is nearly constant. It indicates that the spin transport behavior of the adjacent Pt is independent of the electron configuration of YIG. The laser-heating method to generate LSSE will be very promising for modern integrated electronic circuits and will promote the application of spin caloritronics in practice. 展开更多

In this paper, for the tool wear problem of the cutting process, the study on improving tool life has been done through the analysis of the Seebeck effect in the efficient turning process. The generation principle of the self-excited electric current in the cutting process is studied, and also its effect on the life of the turning cutter is studied, so as to reveal the mechanism of the self-excited electric current accelerating the wear of cutting tools. The study results show that the self-excited electric current which is generated during the cutting process is one of the main reasons that cause both the accelerated hardening and the low life of cutting tools to happen. Thus, if the generation of self-excited current is avoided and reduced, the cutting performance of cutting tools can be effectively improved, so to improve the tool life. The study can provide the anti-friction and anti-wear theory basis for the design of the efficient cutting tools. 展开更多

具有显著Seebeck效应的碳纤维水泥基复合材料(Carbon fiber reinforced cement-based composites,简写为CFRC)近年来受到广泛关注。综述了CFRC的导电机理、Seebeck效应强化途径及其工程应用前景。CFRC的载流子类型主要包括离子、电子和... 具有显著Seebeck效应的碳纤维水泥基复合材料(Carbon fiber reinforced cement-based composites,简写为CFRC)近年来受到广泛关注。综述了CFRC的导电机理、Seebeck效应强化途径及其工程应用前景。CFRC的载流子类型主要包括离子、电子和空穴,并以空穴为主。碳纤维/碳纳米管掺杂,CFRC的Seebeck系数可提高至约30μV/℃;钢纤维掺杂水泥基材料表现为n型半导体,其Seebeck可达68μV/℃;金属氧化物Bi_2O_3掺杂可将CFRC的Seebeck系数稳步提高到100.28μV/℃,而ZnO和Fe_2O_3掺杂可使CFRC的Seebeck系数分别增大到3 300μV/℃和2 500μV/℃。这些研究有效地促进了CFRC在城市室外热量的转换收集、工业余热能量收集和长寿命结构健康监测传感器等领域的研究与发展。 展开更多

Effects of soft-magnetic MnZn ferrite (Mn0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4, MZF) and hard-magnetic Ba ferrite (BaO.6Fe2O3, BaM) on the structure and magnetic transport properties of [La2/3Srl/3MnO3] (LSMO)/(x) [ferrites] (ferrit... Effects of soft-magnetic MnZn ferrite (Mn0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4, MZF) and hard-magnetic Ba ferrite (BaO.6Fe2O3, BaM) on the structure and magnetic transport properties of [La2/3Srl/3MnO3] (LSMO)/(x) [ferrites] (ferrites=MZF, BaM) composites have been investigated. It was found that the inclusion of MZF phase reduces magnetization and ferromagnetic-paramagnetic transition temperature (To) of the composites. With increasing the content of the dopants, the high-temperature magnetoresistance (MR) decreases, whereas low-temperature MR increases and reaches 42% at 150 K and x=0.1. However, for the LSMO/BaM composites, magnetization and ferromagneticparamagnetic transition temperature (To) decrease firstly as x〈5%, and then increase as x〉5%. The resistivity of the composites increases by five orders of magnitude at x=1% and is out of measured range at x=5%. High magnetic field has little effect on the resistivity and magnetoresistance originate from the pinning effect of BaM for the composites with x〉5%, which may grains. 展开更多

To enhance the thermoelectric effect of cement-based materials,conductive polyaniline(PANI)modified MnO_(2)powder was synthesized and used as a thermoelectric component in the cement composites.The nanostructured PANI was deposited on the surface of the nanorod-shapedα-MnO_(2)particle and the weight ratio of PANI to MnO_(2)was 22.3:77.7 in the composite.The synthesized PANI/MnO_(2)composite was nanostructured according to the SEM image.The test results of the thermoelectric properties proved that the PANI/MnO_(2)composite was effective as the Seebeck coefficient and electrical conductivity values of the cement composites with PANI/MnO_(2)inside were 3-4 orders of magnitude higher than those of pure cement paste and the thermal conductivity values of these cement samples were similar.The obtained maximum figure of merit(ZT)value(2.75×10^(-3))was much larger than that of conductive materials reinforced cement-based composites.The thermoelectric effect of cement composites is mainly enhanced by the increased Seebeck coefficient and electrical conductivity in this work. 展开更多

Aluminum-induced crystallized silicon films were prepared on glass substrates by magnetron sputtering. Aluminum was added in the silicon films intermittently by the regular pulse sputtering of an aluminum target. The amount of aluminum in the silicon films can be controlled by regulating the aluminum sputtering power and the sputtering time of the undoped silicon layer; thus, the Seebeck coefficient and electrical resistivity of the polyerystaUine silicon films can be adjusted. It is found that, when the sputtering power ratio of aluminum to silicon is 16%, both the Seebeck coefficient and the electrical resistivity decrease with the increasing amount of aluminum as expected; the Seebeck coefficient and the electrical resistivity at room temperature are 0.185-0.285 mV/K and 0.30-2.4 Ω.cm, respectively. By reducing the sputtering power ratio to 7%, however, the Seebeck coefficient does not change much, though the electrical resistivity still decreases with the amount of aluminum increasing; the Seebeck coefficient and electrical resistivity at room temperature are 0.219-0.263 mV/K and 0.26-0.80 Ω·cm, respectively. 展开更多

The periodic Anderson model is used to describe the quantum dot system, the Rashba spin-orbit interaction and the Zeeman splitting under a magnetic field are considered. The theoretical results show the constructive contribution of the Rashba effect and the influence of the magnetic field on the thermospin effects. We also show theoretically that material with a high figure of merit can be obtained by tuning the Zeeman splitting energy only. 展开更多

Using the nonequilibrium Green's function method combined with the tight-binding Hamiltonian, we theoretically investigate the spin-dependent transmission probability and spin Seebeck coefficient of a crossed armchair-edge graphene nanoribbon (AGNR) superl'attice p-n junction under a perpendicular magnetic field with a ferromagnetic insulator, where junction widths Wi of 40 and 41 are considered to exemplify the effect of semiconducting and metallic AGNRs, respectively. A pristine AGNR system is metallic when the transverse layer m = 3j + 2 with a positive integer j and an insulator otherwise. When stubs are present, a semiconducting AGNR junction with width W1= 40 always shows metallic behavior regardless of the potential drop magnitude, magnetization strength, stub length, and per- pendicular magnetic field strength. However, metallic or semiconducting behavior can be obtained from a metallic AGNR junction with Wi = 41 by adjusting these physical parameters. Furthermore, a metal-to-semiconductor transition can be obtained for both superlattice p-n junctions by adjust- ing the number of periods of the superlattice. In addition, the spin-dependent Seebeck coefficient and spin Seebeck coefficient of the two systems are of the same order of magnitude owing to the appearance of a transmission gap, and the maximum absolute value of the spin Seebeck coefficient reaches 370 μV/K when the optimized parameters are used. The calculated results offer new possi- bilities for designing electronic or heat-spintronic nanodevices based on the graphene superlattice p-n junction. 展开更多
