Film thickness measurement can be realized using white light interferometry, but it is challenging to guarantee high precision in a large range of thicknesses.Based on scanning white light interferometry,we propose a spectral-temporal demodulation scheme for large-range thickness measurement. The demodulation process remains unchanged for either coatings or substrate-free films, while some adjustments are made according to the estimated optical thickness.Experiments show that the single-point repeatabilities for 500 nm SiO_(2) coating and 68μm substrate-free Si film are no more than 0.70 nm and 1.22 nm,respectively. This method can be further developed for simultaneous measurement of surface profile and film thickness. 展开更多

Ultra-narrow bandwidth mode-locked lasers with tunable pulse duration can be versatile light sources for diverse applications. However, the spectral-temporal control of a narrow bandwidth mode-locked laser is challenging due to limited gain and nonlinearity, hindering practical applications of such lasers. We demonstrate a pulse duration widely tunable mode-locked ultra-narrow bandwidth laser using a composite filtering mechanism and a single-wall carbon nanotube. The laser pulse duration can be adjusted from 481 ps to 1.38 ns,which is the widest tuning range achieved in narrow-bandwidth passively mode-locked lasers. When the pulse duration is 1.38 ns,the corresponding spectral width reaches 4 pm(502 MHz).Numerical simulations support the experimental results and show that the evolution of long pulses in the laser cavity behaves similarly to a quasi-continuous wave with a low breathing ratio. We have not only designed a simple and flexible tunable scheme for the dilemma of spectral-temporal control in narrow-bandwidth mode-locked fiber lasers but also provided a unique and idealized light source for various applications that takes into account robust output. 展开更多

Single-shot ultrafast compressed imaging(UCI)is an effective tool for studying ultrafast dynamics in physics, chemistry,or material science because of its excellent high frame rate and large frame number. However, the random code(Rcode)used in traditional UCI will lead to low-frequency noise covering high-frequency information due to its uneven sampling interval, which is a great challenge in the fidelity of large-frame reconstruction. Here,a high-frequency enhanced compressed active photography(H-CAP)is proposed.By uniformizing the sampling interval of R-code,H-CAP capture the ultrafast process with a random uniform sampling mode. This sampling mode makes the high-frequency sampling energy dominant, which greatly suppresses the low-frequency noise blurring caused by R-code and achieves high-frequency information of image enhanced. The superior dynamic performance and large-frame reconstruction ability of H-CAP are verified by imaging optical self-focusing effect and static object, respectively. We applied H-CAP to the spatial-temporal characterization of double-pulse induced silicon surface ablation dynamics, which is performed within 220 frames in a single-shot of 300 ps.H-CAP provides a high-fidelity imaging method for observing ultrafast unrepeatable dynamic processes with large frames. 展开更多
