Influenced by globalization,rural transition in developed Western countries has experienced processes of productivism,post-productivism,and multifunctional development.By contrast,rural transition in most developing c...Influenced by globalization,rural transition in developed Western countries has experienced processes of productivism,post-productivism,and multifunctional development.By contrast,rural transition in most developing countries has been accompanied by rapid urbanization,which has become a core topic in geography research.As the world’s largest developing country,China has undergone profound development since the reform and opening-up.Moreover,rural spaces in some eastern coastal areas have entered the stage of reconstruction after decades of industrialization and urbanization.This paper takes Suzhou as the case area and measures the process of rural transition from 1990 to 2015 by constructing an index system.It then analyzes the characteristics of space-time evolution using exploratory spatial data analysis(ESDA)methods to reveal the influence of economic and social development on rural transition.The results show that rural transition,which generally entails the weakening of rurality and enhancing of urbanity on a macro scale,tends to be heterogeneous across different regions on a micro scale.This paper argues that multifunctionality will be the main future trend of rural transition in rapidly urbanizing areas.The experience in Suzhou could provide an example for establishing policies on sustainable development in rural spaces and achieving urban-rural co-governance.展开更多

Widely distributed fine-grained sediments(FGS) of the upper fourth member of Sha...Fine-grained rocks(FGR) are the important source rocks and reservoirs of shale hydrocarbon which is the prospect hotspot at present. Widely distributed fine-grained sediments(FGS) of the upper fourth member of Shahejie Formation in Dongying depression are taken as an example to study the space-time evolution and controlling factor of FGS in this paper. Based on the analysis of well cores, thin sections, inorganic and organic geochemistry indicators, FGR are divided into 7 types of lithofacies. Through the study of ‘point-line-plane', this study shows that FGS has the characteristics of rhythum, diversity and succession. The first stage is characterized by clayey FGS(massive claystone). The second stage is characterized by carbonate FGS(low-TOC laminated limestone) and dolomitic FGS(dolomitic-silty shale) formed by transgression. The third stage is characterized by organic-rich carbonate FGS(middle/high-TOC laminated limestone) distributed in cycle. The fourth stage is characterized by FGS mixed carbonate and siliciclastic sediments(calcareous-silty shale). A variety of space-time evolution of FGS are controlled by multiple factors including tectonism, climate and lake conditions.展开更多

By counting the rank of a given variable in the ensemble, we are basically making a sample analy...Rank Histograms are suitable tools to assess the quality of ensembles within an ensemble prediction system or framework. By counting the rank of a given variable in the ensemble, we are basically making a sample analysis, which does not allow us to distinguish if the origin of its variability is external noise or comes from chaotic sources. The recently introduced Mean to Variance Logarithmic (MVL) Diagram accounts for the spatial variability, being very sensitive to the spatial localization produced by infinitesimal perturbations of spatiotemporal chaotic systems. By using as a benchmark a simple model subject to noise, we show the distinct information given by Rank Histograms and MVL Diagrams. Hence, the main effects of the external noise can be visualized in a graphic. From the MVL diagram we clearly observe a reduction of the amplitude growth rate and of the spatial localization (chaos suppression), while from the Rank Histogram we observe changes in the reliability of the ensemble. We conclude that in a complex framework including spatiotemporal chaos and noise, both provide a more complete forecasting picture.展开更多

Unlike a traditional information system serving just as a storehouse of data or knowledge and working passively according to queries or transactions explicitly issued by users and application programs, an autonomous evolutionary information system serves as an autonomous and evolutionary partner of its users that discovers new knowledge from its database or knowledge base autonomously, cooperates with its users in solving problems actively by providing the users with advices, and has a certain mechanism to improve its own state of “knowing” and ability of “working”. This paper seminally defines what is an autonomous evolutionary information system, explain why autonomous evolutionary information systems are needed, and presents some new issues, fundamental considerations, and research directions in design and development of autonomous evolutionary information systems.展开更多

Various models of time pertain to the existence of future, present and past. It is proposed that the future represents potentialities, the present the actualization of certain potentialities, and the past a record of actualized potentialities. Actualization of potentialities derives from micro quantum wave function collapses with specific constellations corresponding to macro level form. Consciousness provides for an awareness of potentialities being actualized in the present, the time frame of consciousness closely aligning with the time frame of potentialities being actualized in the moment. Evolution of such awareness is highly probable, given the ensuing motivation enabling behavior to be altered in the moment to minimize the actualization of maladaptive potentialities, and maximize the actualization of adaptive potentialities. Radial Basis Function Neural Network(RBFNN)ensembles have long suffered from non-efficient training,where incorrect parameter settings can be computationally disastrous.This paper examines different evolutionary algor...Radial Basis Function Neural Network(RBFNN)ensembles have long suffered from non-efficient training,where incorrect parameter settings can be computationally disastrous.This paper examines different evolutionary algorithms for training the Symbolic Radial Basis Function Neural Network(SRBFNN)through the behavior’s integration of satisfiability programming.Inspired by evolutionary algorithms,which can iteratively find the nearoptimal solution,different Evolutionary Algorithms(EAs)were designed to optimize the producer output weight of the SRBFNN that corresponds to the embedded logic programming 2Satisfiability representation(SRBFNN-2SAT).The SRBFNN’s objective function that corresponds to Satisfiability logic programming can be minimized by different algorithms,including Genetic Algorithm(GA),Evolution Strategy Algorithm(ES),Differential Evolution Algorithm(DE),and Evolutionary Programming Algorithm(EP).Each of these methods is presented in the steps in the flowchart form which can be used for its straightforward implementation in any programming language.With the use of SRBFNN-2SAT,a training method based on these algorithms has been presented,then training has been compared among algorithms,which were applied in Microsoft Visual C++software using multiple metrics of performance,including Mean Absolute Relative Error(MARE),Root Mean Square Error(RMSE),Mean Absolute Percentage Error(MAPE),Mean Bias Error(MBE),Systematic Error(SD),Schwarz Bayesian Criterion(SBC),and Central Process Unit time(CPU time).Based on the results,the EP algorithm achieved a higher training rate and simple structure compared with the rest of the algorithms.It has been confirmed that the EP algorithm is quite effective in training and obtaining the best output weight,accompanied by the slightest iteration error,which minimizes the objective function of SRBFNN-2SAT.展开更多

The emergence of demand for this information makes the d...Where sustainable development is concerned, there is an urgent need to establish new information systems that integrate economic, social and ecological factors. The emergence of demand for this information makes the development of ecological accounting possible. Yet, most current research on ecological accounting focuses on two aspects: (1) the theoretical aspect, including background, concepts and models and (2) specific research on ecological accounting. Some scholars have proposed a conceptual framework, but this is not systematic or thorough enough. Seizing the opportunity of sustainable development in a key strategic location of the world, this paper begins by analyzing the logical evolution of ecological accounting, summarizes the existing ecological accounting theory, and combines the mature theoretical study of resources accounting with environmental accounting. All of these efforts result in this paper forwarding a framework of ecological accounting that aims to provide a guideline for future development.展开更多

In the present work transfinite fractal sets and fuzzy logic are combined to enable the introduction of a new theory termed fractal logic to the foundation of high energy particle physics. This leads naturally to a new look at quantum gravity. In particular we will show that to understand and develop quantum gravity we have to bring various fields together, particularly fractals and nonlinear dynamics as well as sphere packing, fuzzy set theory, number theory and quantum entanglement and irrationally q-deformed algebra.展开更多
