However, the current algorithm used in China's L-band radar sounding system for calculating highvertical-resolution wind vectors excessively smooths the data, resulting in significant underestimation of the calculated kinetic energy of gravity waves compared to similar products from other countries, which greatly limits the effective utilization of the data. To address this issue, this study proposes a novel method to calculate high-vertical-resolution wind vectors that utilizes the elevation angle, azimuth angle, and slant range from L-band radar. In order to obtain wind data with a stable quality, a two-step automatic quality control procedure, including the RMSE-F(root-mean-square error F) test and elemental consistency test are first applied to the slant range data, to eliminate continuous erroneous data caused by unstable signals or radar malfunctions. Then, a wind calculation scheme based on a sliding second-order polynomial fitting is utilized to derive the high-vertical-resolution radiosonde wind vectors. The evaluation results demonstrate that the wind data obtained through the proposed method show a high level of consistency with the high-resolution wind data observed using the Vaisala Global Positioning System and the data observed by the new Beidou Navigation Sounding System. The calculation of the kinetic energy of gravity waves in the recalculated wind data also reaches a level comparable to the Vaisala observations.展开更多

文摘1 Introduction Sound event detection(SED)aims to identify and locate specific sound event categories and their corresponding timestamps within continuous audio streams. To overcome the limitations posed by the scarcity of strongly labeled training data, researchers have increasingly turned to semi-supervised learning(SSL)[1],which leverages unlabeled data to augment training and improve detection performance.Among many SSL methods[2-4].
文摘In 1875,the HMS(皇家海军舰艇)Challenger stopped in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, southwest of the Mariana Islands,to conduct a routine depth sounding. As they'd done countless times before, the British scientists and sailors on board lowered a weighted rope into the water.Unlike those other times, however, the rope kept falling, seemingly without an end. After nearly 8,230 meters,it finally hit the bottom—the first human attempt at what became known as the Mariana Trench.
文摘To the editor:The superior semicircular canal dehiscence was first described by Minor et all in 1998 as a condition in which the superior semicircular canal lacks a bony covering and has gained constantly increasing interest since its discovery.2 The symptoms are varied but specific what is known as Minor syndrome or‘third mobile window’syndrome,'as patients may experience autophony with abnormally loud sounds like footsteps, chewing, breathing, eye movement, echoing voice, distortion of environmental sounds and pulsatile tinnitus.

文摘Amplitude stripes imposed by ionospheric scintillation have been frequently observed in many of the equatorial nighttime acquisitions of the Advanced Land Observing Satellite(ALOS)Phased Array-type L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar(PALSAR).This type of ionospheric artifact impedes PALSAR interferometric and polarimetric applications, and its formation cause, morphology, and negative influence have been deeply investigated. However, this artifact can provide an alternative opportunity in a positive way for probing and measuring ionosphere scintillation. In this paper,a methodology for measuring ionospheric scintillation parameters from PALSAR images with amplitude stripes is proposed.Firstly, sublook processing is beneficial for recovering the scattered stripes from a single-look complex image;the amplitude stripe pattern is extracted via band-rejection filtering in the frequency domain of the sublook image.Secondly, the amplitude spectrum density function(SDF)is estimated from the amplitude stripe pattern.Thirdly,a fitting scheme for measuring the scintillation strength and spectrum index is conducted between the estimated and theoretical long-wavelength SDFs.In addition, another key parameter, the scintillation index, can be directly measured from the amplitude stripe pattern or indirectly derived from the scintillation strength and spectrum index. The proposed methodology is fully demonstrated on two groups of PALSAR acquisitions in the presence of amplitude stripes.Self-validation is conducted by comparing the measured and derived scintillation index and by comparing the measurements of range lines and azimuth lines.Cross-validation is performed by comparing the PALSAR measurements with in situ Global Position System(GPS)measurements. The processing results demonstrate a powerful capability to robustly measure ionospheric scintillation parameters from space with high spatial resolution.

文摘Lake 90°E in Antarctica encompasses an area of 2000 km2,ranking it the second largest subglacial lake identified in the country by area, following Vostok Subglacial Lake.In this study, the overlying ice thickness and lake elevation of Lake 90°E were determined using airborne radio-echo sounding across two survey lines, conducted by the International Collaborative Exploration of the Cryosphere by Airborne Profiling in Princess Elizabeth Land(ICECAP/PEL)campaign during the 32nd Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition(CHINARE 32,2015-2016),and the depth of lake water was inversed by coupling with synchronous airborne gravity data. The analysis revealed a 15-m elevation increase in the ice sheet surface from the southeast to the northwest, correlating with a gradient in ice thickness that progresses from thin in the southeast to thick in the northwest. The maximum water depth of Lake 90°E is estimated as 320 m along the central line, bifurcated by a topographic ridge into two zones of varying depths, with exceptionally shallow water at its periphery.Thermodynamic modeling using data from two points along the survey lines indicated that melt rates at the ice-water interface have consistently been low over the last 400,000 years, varying between 0.56-0.95 mm/yr and 2.70-3.41 mm/yr,balanced by either basal freezing to the south or downstream water loss, thereby maintaining a thermodynamically stable state.Satellite imagery and altimetry data analyses identified no significant changes in the outline or elevation of the ice surface over the past 20 years. This study presents novel insights into the physiography and thermodynamic state of Lake 90°E,establishing a foundation for future drilling initiatives.

文摘The emerging millimeter-wave microphones have garnered considerable attention in recent years due to their potential for sound detection in various applications, particularly in situations where traditional microphones may be impractical. However, despite their promise, there is a notable lack of evidence demonstrating high-quality sound recovery of moving sources, which remains a significant challenge in thefield. This paper addresses this critical gap by proposing a novel method for displacement alignment that improves the detection and recovery of sound signals from moving sources. The proposed method works byfirst aligning the displacement of the sound source over time, which ensures that the signals are synchronized and avoids interference from movement of sources.Subsequently, precise surface vibrations are extracted from the aligned signals, providing data for sound recovery.Afinite impulse response(FIR)filter is applied to remove low-frequency motion, which often interferes with the clarity of the detected sound.Experimental results demonstrate the method’s effectiveness in recovering high-quality sound from moving sources, offering a promising solution for advancing the emerging millimeter-wave microphone technology in real-world applications. This work could pave the way for more accurate and reliable sound detection systems, particularly in dynamic environments.

文摘The classification of respiratory sounds is crucial in diagnosing and monitoring respiratory diseases. However, auscultation is highly subjective, making it challenging to analyze respiratory sounds accurately.Although deep learning has been increasingly applied to this task, most existing approaches have primarily relied on supervised learning.Since supervised learning requires large amounts of labeled data, recent studies have explored self-supervised and semi-supervised methods to overcome this limitation. However, these approaches have largely assumed a closedset setting, where the classes present in the unlabeled data are considered identical to those in the labeled data.In contrast, this study explores an open-set semi-supervised learning setting, where the unlabeled data may contain additional, unknown classes. To address this challenge,a distance-based prototype network is employed to classify respiratory sounds in an open-set setting. In the first stage, the prototype network is trained using labeled and unlabeled data to derive prototype representations of known classes. In the second stage, distances between unlabeled data and known class prototypes are computed, and samples exceeding an adaptive threshold are identified as unknown.A new prototype is then calculated for this unknown class. In the final stage,semi-supervised learning is employed to classify labeled and unlabeled data into known and unknown classes.Compared to conventional closed-set semisupervised learning approaches, the proposed method achieved an average classification accuracy improvement of 2%–5%.Additionally,in cases of data scarcity, utilizing unlabeled data further improved classification performance by 6%–8%.The findings of this study are expected to significantly enhance respiratory sound classification performance in practical clinical settings.

文摘A centrifugal pump with a specific speed ns=67 is considered in this study to investigate the impact of blade cutting(at the outlet edge)on the fluid-induced noise, while keeping all the other geometric parameters unchanged. The required unsteady numerical calculations are conducted by applying the RNG k-εturbulence model with the volute dipole being used as the sound source. The results indicate that the internal pressure energy of the centrifugal pump essentially depends on the blade passing frequency and its low-frequency harmonic frequency. Moreover, the pressure pulsation distribution directly affects the noise caused by the centrifugal pump. The sound pressure inside and outside the centrifugal pump and the sound power at the blade passing frequency gradually decrease increasing cutting distance of the impeller blades. When the cutting percentage is 1.21%,that is,the clearance ratio between impeller blade and tongue is 8.57%,the comprehensive performance of the centrifugal pump is the best.

文摘Passerine mimics often imitate various vocalizations from other bird species and incorporate these sounds into their song repertoires. While a few anecdotes reported that wild songbirds imitated human-associated sounds, besides captive parrots and songbirds, systemic and quantitative studies on human-made sound mimicry in wild birds remain scarce. In this study,we investigated the mimetic accuracy and consistency of electric moped sounds imitated by an urban bird, the Chinese Blackbird(Turdus mandarinus). We found that:(1)Only one type of electric moped sound was imitated,i.e.,13 of 26 males mimicked the first part of the antitheft alarm,a phrase containing a series of identical notes.(2)The mimicry produced by male Chinese Blackbirds had fewer notes and lower consistency within phrases compared to the model alarms.(3)The mimicry of male Chinese Blackbirds was imperfect,i.e.,most of the acoustic parameters differed from the model alarms.Additionally, mimetic notes were lower in frequency than the models.Mimetic notes from two areas were also different in acoustic structures, suggesting Chinese Blackbirds might learn mimicry mainly from conspecific neighbors within each area respectively rather than electric mopeds, namely the secondary mimicry.Imperfect mimicry of human-made sounds could result from cost and physical constraints, associated with high consistency, frequency, and repetitions.Consequently,Chinese Blackbirds copied a simplified version of electric moped alarms. We recommend further attention to mimic species inhabiting urban ecosystems to better understand vocal mimicry's adaptation to ongoing urbanization.
