The proposed method, Dynamic Threshold-Based Routing and Spectrum Allocation with Fragmentation Awareness (DT-RSAF), integrates rerouting and spectrum defragmentation as needed. By leveraging Yen’s shortest path algorithm, DT-RSAF enhances resource utilization while ensuring improved service continuity. A dynamic threshold mechanism enables the algorithm to adapt to varying network conditions, while its fragmentation awareness effectively mitigates spectrum fragmentation. Simulation results on NSFNET and COST 239 topologies demonstrate that DT-RSAF significantly outperforms methods such as K-Shortest Path Routing and Spectrum Allocation (KSP-RSA), Load Balanced and Fragmentation-Aware (LBFA), and the Invasive Weed Optimization-based RSA (IWO-RSA). Under heavy traffic, DT-RSAF reduces the blocking probability by up to 15% and achieves lower Bandwidth Fragmentation Ratios (BFR), ranging from 74% to 75%, compared to 77% - 80% for KSP-RSA, 75% - 77% for LBFA, and approximately 76% for IWO-RSA. DT-RSAF also demonstrated reasonable computation times compared to KSP-RSA, LBFA, and IWO-RSA. On a small-sized network, its computation time was 8710 times faster than that of Integer Linear Programming (ILP) on the same network topology. Additionally, it achieved a similar execution time to LBFA and outperformed IWO-RSA in terms of efficiency. These results highlight DT-RSAF’s capability to maintain large contiguous frequency blocks, making it highly effective for accommodating high-bandwidth requests in EONs while maintaining reasonable execution times.展开更多

These results highlight DT-RSAF’s capability to maintain large contiguous frequency blocks, making it highly effective for accommodating high-bandwidth requests in EONs while maintaining reasonable execution times.

文摘In optical metro-access networks,Access Points(APs)and Data Centers(DCs)are located on the fiber ring.In the cloud-centric solution,a large number of Internet of Things(IoT)data pose an enormous burden on DCs,so the Virtual Machines(VMs)cannot be successfully launched due to the server overload. In addition, transferring the data from the AP to the remote DC may cause an undesirable delivery delay. For this end,we propose a promising solution considering the interplay between the cloud DC and edge APs.More specifically, bringing the partial capability of computing in APs close to things can reduce the pressure of DCs while guaranteeing the expected Quality of Service(QoS).In this work, when the cloud DC resource becomes limited, especially for delay sensitive but not computing-dependent IoT applications,we degrade their VMs and migrate them to edge APs instead of the remote DC.To avoid excessive VM degradation and computing offloading,we derive appropriate VM degradation coefficients based on classic microeconomic theory.Simulation results demonstrate that our algorithms improve the service providers'utility with the ratio from 34%to 89%over traditional cloud-centric solutions.

文摘Optical phase transfer via fiber optics is the most effective method for optical frequency standard comparison on the scale below thousands of kilometers. However, the monotonic phase discrimination range of conventional optical phase-locked loops is limited, and link delays restrict the control bandwidth, which makes it a challenge to achieve a continuously reliable optical link. This paper presents an event-timing-based phase detection method that overcomes the monotonic phase discrimination range limitation of conventional phase-locked loops through dual-edge timestamp recording, achieving an optical phase measurement resolution on the order of 10 attoseconds. With such a technique,we established a 7-segment-cascaded optical link over 1402km of commercial fiber while sharing dense wavelength division multiplexing(DWDM)channels with live telecom traffic. The system maintained continuous operation for 11.7 days without phase cycle slips despite encountering 15 km aerial fiber noise up to 21000 rad^(2)·Hz^(−1)·km^(−1)at 1 Hz.Relative instabilities of the link are 3.7×10^(−15)at 1 s and 3.9×10^(−20)at 100000 s.

文摘Diffractive optical neural networks(DONNs)have exhibited the advantages of parallelization, high speed, and low consumption. However, the existing DONNs based on free-space diffractive optical elements are bulky and unsteady. In this study,we propose a planar-waveguide integrated diffractive neural network chip architecture. The three diffractive layers are engraved on the same side of a quartz wafer. The three-layer chip is designed with 32-mm3 processing space and enables a computing speed of 3.1×109 Tera operations per second. The results show that the proposed chip achieves 73.4%experimental accuracy for the Modified National Institute of Standards and Technology database while showing the system’s robustness in a cycle test. The consistency of experiments is 88.6%,and the arithmetic mean standard deviation of the results is~4.7%.The proposed chip architecture can potentially revolutionize high-resolution optical processing tasks with high robustness.

文摘Reverse design of highly GeO2-doped silica optical fibers with broadband and flat dispersion profiles is proposed using a neural network(NN) combined with a particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm.Firstly, the NN model designed to predict optical fiber dispersion is trained with an appropriate choice of hyperparameters, achieving a root mean square error(RMSE) of 9.47×10-7on the test dataset, with a determination coefficient(R2) of 0.999.Secondly,the NN is combined with the PSO algorithm for the inverse design of dispersion-flattened optical fibers. To expand the search space and avoid particles becoming trapped in local optimal solutions, the PSO algorithm incorporates adaptive inertia weight updating and a simulated annealing algorithm. Finally,by using a suitable fitness function, the designed fibers exhibit flat group velocity dispersion(GVD) profiles at 1 400—2 400 nm,where the GVD fluctuations and minimum absolute GVD values are below 18 ps·nm-1·km-1and 7 ps·nm-1·km-1,respectively.

文摘Quantum key distribution(QKD)optical networks can provide more secure communications. However, with the increase of the QKD path requests and key updates, network blocking problems will become severe. The blocking problems in the network can become more severe because each fiber link has limited resources(such as wavelengths and time slots). In addition,QKD optical networks are also affected by external disturbances such as data interception and eavesdropping, resulting in inefficient network communication. In this paper,we exploit the idea of protection path to enhance the anti-interference ability of QKD optical network.By introducing the concept of security metric,we propose a routing wavelength and time slot allocation algorithm(RWTA)based on protection path, which can lessen the blocking problem of QKD optical network.According to simulation analysis, the security-metric-based RWTA algorithm(SM-RWTA)proposed in this paper can substantially improve the success rate of security key(SK)update and significantly reduce the blocking rate of the network. It can also improve the utilization rate of resources such as wavelengths and time slots.Compared with the non-security-metric-based RWTA algorithm(NSM-RWTA),our algorithm is robust and can enhance the anti-interference ability and security of QKD optical networks.

文摘Distributed denial of service(DDoS)attacks are common network attacks that primarily target Internet of Things(IoT)devices. They are critical for emerging wireless services, especially for applications with limited latency.DDoS attacks pose significant risks to entrepreneurial businesses, preventing legitimate customers from accessing their websites. These attacks require intelligent analytics before processing service requests.Distributed denial of service(DDoS)attacks exploit vulnerabilities in IoT devices by launchingmulti-point distributed attacks. These attacks generate massive traffic that overwhelms the victim’s network, disrupting normal operations. The consequences of distributed denial of service(DDoS)attacks are typically more severe in software-defined networks(SDNs)than in traditional networks. The centralised architecture of these networks can exacerbate existing vulnerabilities,as these weaknesses may not be effectively addressed in this model. The preliminary objective for detecting and mitigating distributed denial of service(DDoS)attacks in software-defined networks(SDN)is to monitor traffic patterns and identify anomalies that indicate distributed denial of service(DDoS)attacks. It implements measures to counter the effects ofDDoS attacks, and ensure network reliability and availability by leveraging the flexibility and programmability of SDN to adaptively respond to threats. The authors present a mechanism that leverages the OpenFlow and sFlow protocols to counter the threats posed by DDoS attacks. The results indicate that the proposed model effectively mitigates the negative effects of DDoS attacks in an SDN environment.

文摘The increased accessibility of social networking services(SNSs)has facilitated communication and information sharing among users. However,it has also heightened concerns about digital safety, particularly for children and adolescents who are increasingly exposed to online grooming crimes.Early and accurate identification of grooming conversations is crucial in preventing long-term harm to victims. However, research on grooming detection in South Korea remains limited,as existing models trained primarily on English text and fail to reflect the unique linguistic features of SNS conversations, leading to inaccurate classifications. To address these issues, this study proposes a novel framework that integrates optical character recognition(OCR)technology with KcELECTRA,a deep learning-based natural language processing(NLP)model that shows excellent performance in processing the colloquial Korean language. In the proposed framework, the KcELECTRA model is fine-tuned by an extensive dataset, including Korean social media conversations,Korean ethical verification data from AI-Hub,and Korean hate speech data from Hug-gingFace,to enable more accurate classification of text extracted from social media conversation images.Experimental results show that the proposed framework achieves an accuracy of 0.953,outperforming existing transformer-based models.Furthermore,OCR technology shows high accuracy in extracting text from images, demonstrating that the proposed framework is effective for online grooming detection. The proposed framework is expected to contribute to the more accurate detection of grooming text and the prevention of grooming-related crimes.

文摘Propelled by the rise of artificial intelligence, cloud services, and data center applications,next-generation,low-power,local-oscillator-less,digital signal processing(DSP)-free,and short-reach coherent optical communication has evolved into an increasingly prominent area of research in recent years. Here,we demonstrate DSP-free coherent optical transmission by analog signal processing in frequency synchronous optical network(FSON)architecture, which supports polarization multiplexing and higher-order modulation formats. The FSON architecture that allows the numerous laser sources of optical transceivers within a data center can be quasi-synchronized by means of a tree-distributed homology architecture. In conjunction with our proposed pilot-tone assisted Costas loop for an analog coherent receiver,we achieve a record dual-polarization 224-Gb/s 16-QAM 5-km mismatch transmission with reset-free carrier phase recovery in the optical domain. Our proposed DSP-free analog coherent detection system based on the FSON makes it a promising solution for next-generation,low-power,and high-capacity coherent data center interconnects.

文摘Optical solitons,as self-sustaining waveforms in a nonlinear medium where dispersion and nonlinear effects are balanced, have key applications in ultrafast laser systems and optical communications.Physics-informed neural networks(PINN)provide a new way to solve the nonlinear Schrodinger equation describing the soliton evolution by fusing data-driven and physical constraints. However, the grid point sampling strategy of traditional PINN suffers from high computational complexity and unstable gradient flow, which makes it difficult to capture the physical details efficiently. In this paper,we propose a residual-based adaptive multi-distribution(RAMD)sampling method to optimize the PINN training process by dynamically constructing a multi-modal loss distribution. With a 50%reduction in the number of grid points,RAMD significantly reduces the relative error of PINN and,in particular, optimizes the solution error of the(2+1)Ginzburg–Landau equation from 4.55%to 1.98%.RAMD breaks through the lack of physical constraints in the purely data-driven model by the innovative combination of multi-modal distribution modeling and autonomous sampling control for the design of all-optical communication devices.RAMD provides a high-precision numerical simulation tool for the design of all-optical communication devices, optimization of nonlinear laser devices, and other studies.

文摘By decoupling control plane and data plane,Software-Defined Networking(SDN) approach simplifies network management and speeds up network innovations. These benefits have led not only to prototypes, but also real SDN deployments. For wide-area SDN deployments, multiple controllers are often required, and the placement of these controllers becomes a particularly important task in the SDN context. This paper studies the problem of placing controllers in SDNs,so as to maximize the reliability of SDN control networks. We present a novel metric, called expected percentage of control path loss,to characterize the reliability of SDN control networks. We formulate the reliability-aware control placement problem, prove its NP-hardness,and examine several placement algorithms that can solve this problem.Through extensive simulations using real topologies,we show how the number of controllers and their placement influence the reliability of SDN control networks.Besides,we also found that, through strategic controller placement, the reliability of SDN control networks can be significantly improved without introducing unacceptable switch-to-controller latencies.

文摘Software-Defined Networking (SDN) has been a hot topic for future network development, which implements the different layers of control plane and data plane respectively. Despite providing high openness and programmability, the “three-layer two-interface” architecture of SDN changes the traditional network and increases the network attack nodes, which results in new security issues. In this paper, we firstly introduced the background, architecture and working process of SDN. Secondly, we summarized and analyzed the typical security issues from north to south: application layer, northbound interface, control layer, southbound interface and data layer. Another contribution is to review and analyze the existing solutions and latest research progress of each layer, mainly including: authorized authentication module, application isolation, DoS/DDoS defense, multi-controller deployment and flow rule consistency detection. Finally, a conclusion about the future works of SDN security and an idealized global security architecture is proposed.
