Body weights of the rats were determined and metabolic experiment Was conducted after 4 weeks. The rats were killed after 8 weeks. Glutathione peroxidase activity and selenium content in liver and blood were determined. The results showed that selenium in mussel extract could be better absorbed by the rats and effectively promote their growth.There were no significant differences in glutathione peroxidase activity between the rats fed mussel extract or sodium selenite. Compared with sodium selenite group. the selenium content in blood and liver was significantly higher in the rats fed mussel extract.展开更多
