Yogyakarta was struck by a devastating Mw6.3 earthquake, which intensified awareness about the seismic hazards in the region. This study investigates the kinematic slip rate and seismogenic depth of the northern segment of Opak Fault and an unmapped fault known as Ngalang Fault in Yogyakarta, utilizing Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)data collected between 2019 and 2023.By deploying a network of 12 GNSS stations alongside continuous observations from the InaCORS network,we perfo rmed a detailed geodetic analysis to discern current defo rmation patterns. To quantify the slip rate,we established a frame of reference using the Sundaland Block's rotational parameters and applied the Euler pole angular velocity to transform daily GNSS solutions acco rdingly. The findings reveal significant left-lateral strike-slip motion in the northern segment of Opak Fault, with a slip rate averaging 3 mm/yr and a locking depth of 2.1 km in Northern Segment, whereas the slip rate averages 1.1 mm/yr and the locking depth is estimated at 1 km in the Ngalang Fault, indicating active geological movements that may influence future seismicity. 展开更多

Knowledge graphs, which combine structured representation with semantic modeling, have shown great potential in knowledge expression, causal inference, and automated reasoning, and are widely used in fields such as intelligent question answering, decision support, and fault diagnosis. As high-speed train systems become increasingly intelligent and interconnected, fault patterns have grown more complex and dynamic.Knowledge graphs offer a promising solution to support the structured management and real-time reasoning of fault knowledge, addressing key requirements such as interpretability, accuracy, and continuous evolution in intelligent diagnostic systems. However, conventional knowledge graph construction relies heavily on domain expertise and specialized tools, resulting in high entry barriers for non-experts and limiting their practical application in frontline maintenance scenarios. To address this limitation, this paper proposes a fault knowledge modeling approach for high-speed trains that integrates structured logic diagrams with knowledge graphs. The method employs a seven-layer logic structure—comprising fault name, applicable vehicles, diagnostic logic, signal parameters, verification conditions, fault causes, and emergency measures—to transform unstructured knowledge into a visual and hierarchical representation.A semantic mapping mechanism is then used to automatically convert logic diagrams into machine-interpretable knowledge graphs, enabling dynamic reasoning and knowledge reuse.Furthermore, the proposed method establishes a three-layer architecture—logic structuring, knowledge graph transformation, and dynamic inference—to bridge human-expert logic with machinebased reasoning.Experimental validation and system implementation demonstrate that this approach not only improves knowledge interpretability and inference precision but also significantly enhances modeling efficiency and system maintainability. It provides a scalable and adaptable solution for intelligent operation and maintenance platforms in the high-speed rail domain. 展开更多

In contemporary medium-voltage distribution networks heavily penetrated by distributed energy resources(DERs),the harmonic components injected by power-electronic interfacing converters, together with the inherently intermittent output of renewable generation, distort the zero-sequence current and continuously reshape its frequency spectrum. As a result,single-line-to-ground(SLG)faults exhibit a pronounced, strongly non-stationary behaviour that varies with operating point, load mix and DER dispatch.Under such circumstances the performance of traditional rule-based algorithms—or methods that rely solely on steady-state frequency-domain indicators—degrades sharply, and they no longer satisfy the accuracy and universality required by practical protection systems. To overcome these shortcomings, the present study develops an SLG-fault identification scheme that transforms the zero-sequence currentwaveforminto two-dimensional image representations and processes themwith a convolutional neural network(CNN).First, the causes of sample-distribution imbalance are analysed in detail by considering different neutralgrounding configurations,fault-inception mechanisms and the statistical probability of fault occurrence on each phase.Building on these insights,a discriminator network incorporating a Convolutional Block Attention Module(CBAM)is designed to autonomously extract multi-layer spatial-spectral features, while Gradient-weighted Class Activation Mapping(Grad-CAM)is employed to visualise the contribution of every salient image region, thereby enhancing interpretability.A comprehensive simulation platform is subsequently established for a DER-rich distribution system encompassing several representative topologies, feeder lengths and DER penetration levels.Large numbers of realistic SLG-fault scenarios are generated—including noise and measurement uncertainty—and are used to train, validate and test the proposed model.Extensive simulation campaigns, corroborated by field measurements from an actual utility network, demonstrate that the proposed approach attains an SLG-fault identification accuracy approaching 100 percent and maintains robust performance under severe noise conditions, confirming its suitability for real-world engineering applications. 展开更多

This paper proposes a fault-tolerant control scheme for Euler-Lagrange systems that ensures the tracking error decays to a pre-specified accuracy level within a prescribed time period, despite unknown actuation characteristics and potential fading powering faults.By performing deliberately designed coordinate transformations on the tracking error, the complex and demanding problem of“reaching specified precision within a given time”is transformed into a bounded control problem, facilitating the development of the control scheme. To enhance practicality, the design incorporates smooth function fitting and dynamic surface control techniques.Additionally, the proposed control algorithm is robust to faults, effectively handling a combination of fading powering faults and additive actuator faults without requiring additional human intervention.Numerical simulations on a two-link robotic manipulator verify the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm. 展开更多

While injection-induced seismicity has been widely studied, its implications for CO_(2)geological storage require reevaluation due to distinct fluid-rock interactions. This study develops a coupled hydromechanical model incorporating rate-and-state friction laws to investigate fault reactivation mechanisms during early-stage CO_(2)injection.The competing effects of pore pressure diffusion and fluid pressurization are systematically investigated, considering three key factors:permeability variations within fault damage zones, normal stress variation coefficients, and injection parameters.Numerical simulations reveal that slower CO_(2)migration causes limited pressure perturbation(<0.3 MPa over 15 d)compared to single-phase fluid injection.Fluid pressurization enhances fault strength and delays reactivation, though this stabilizing effect diminishes in low-permeability damage zones.Highly permeable damage zones promote larger rupture areas despite strengthening from pressurization,as reduced effective stress accelerates failure.Paradoxically, while fluid pressurization increases fault strength,it simultaneously elevates seismic risk through amplified stress drops during slip events.Temporal analysis shows that fluid pressurization dominates initial fault response, while sustained pore pressure diffusion ultimately drives reactivation.Increased normal stress variation coefficients and injection rates accelerate localized rupture initiation but restrict propagation due to non-critically stressed states. This discrepancy demonstrates that regions with positive Coulomb failure stress changes do not correlate well with actual slip zones. These findings highlight the critical interplay between transient pressurization effects and progressive pressure diffusion during early CO_(2)injection phases, providing crucial insights for seismic risk management in CO_(2)storage projects. 展开更多

The transient behavior of DC-link voltage(DCV)significantly affects the low-voltage ride-through for phase-locked loop(PLL)-based grid-connected doubly-fed induction generator(DFIG)systems. This study investigates the DCV transient behavior of a PLL-based DFIG system under asymmetrical grid faults.First,by considering the coupling characteristics of positive and negative sequence(PNS)components,a nonlinear largesignal model of DCV is developed.Furthermore, the transient characteristics of DCV under varying parameters are analyzed using phase trajectory diagrams. In addition, the transient stability(TS)mechanism of DCV during asymmetrical faults is examined through an en-ergy function approach. The analysis indicates that the transient instability of DCV is primarily associated with the control characteristics of PNS PLLs,while the TS level of DCV is mainly determined by the power coordination control between the rotor side converter and grid side converter. Moreover,a coordinated control strategy is proposed to enhance the TS of DCV under asymmet-rical grid faults. Finally, both simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the theoretical analysis and the effectiveness of the proposed strategy. 展开更多

Taking the Wangfu fault depression in the Songliao Basin as an example,on the basis of seismic interpretation and drilling data analysis, the distribution of the basement faults was clarified, the fault activity periods of the coal-bearing formations were determined, and the fault systems were divided.Combined with the coal seam thickness and actual gas indication in logging, the controls of fault systems in the rift basin on the spatial distribution of coal and the occurrence of coal-rock gas were identified. The results show that the Wangfu fault depression is an asymmetrical graben formed under the control of basement reactivated strike-slip T-rupture,and contains coal-bearing formations and five sub-types of fault systems under three types. The horizontal extension strength, vertical activity strength and tectono-sedimentary filling difference of basement faults control vertical stratigraphic sequences, accumulation intensity, and accumulation frequency of coal seam in rift basin. The structural transfer zone formed during the segmented reactivation and growth of the basement faults controls the injection location of steep slope exogenous clasts. The filling effect induced by igneous intrusion accelerates the sediment filling process in the rift lacustrine area. The structural transfer zone and igneous intrusion together determine the preferential accumulation location of coal seams in the plane. The faults reactivated at the basement and newly formed during the rifting phase serve as pathways connecting to the gas source, affecting the enrichment degree of coal-rock gas.The vertical sealing of the faults was evaluated by using shale smear factor(SSF),and the evaluation criterion was established. It is indicated that the SSF is below 1.1 in major coal areas, indicating favorable preservation conditions for coal-rock gas.Based on the influence factors such as fault activity, segmentation and sealing, the coal-rock gas accumulation model of rift basin was established. 展开更多

The isolated fracture-vug systems controlled by small-scale strike-slip faults within ultra-deep carbonate rocks of the Tarim Basin exhibit significant exploration potential. The study employs a novel training set incorporating innovative fault labels to train a U-Net-structured CNN model, enabling effective identification of small-scale strike-slip faults through seismic data interpretation.Based on the CNN faults,we analyze the distribution patterns of small-scale strike-slip faults. The small-scale strike-slip faults can be categorized into NNW-trending and NE-trending groups with strike lengths ranging 200–5000 m.The development intensity of small-scale strike-slip faults in the Lower Yingshan Member notably exceeds that in the Upper Member. The Lower and Upper Yingshan members are two distinct mechanical layers with contrasting brittleness characteristics, separated by a low-brittleness layer. The superior brittleness of the Lower Yingshan Member enhances the development intensity of small-scale strike-slip faults compared to the upper member, while the low-brittleness layer exerts restrictive effects on vertical fault propagation.Fracture-vug systems formed by interactions of two or more small-scale strike-slip faults demonstrate larger sizes than those controlled by individual faults. All fracture-vug system sizes show positive correlations with the vertical extents of associated small-scale strike-slip faults, particularly intersection and approaching fracture-vug systems exhibit accelerated size increases proportional to the vertical extents. 展开更多

The three-dimensional(3D)geometry of a fault is a critical control on earthquake nucleation, dynamic rupture, stress triggering, and related seismic hazards. Therefore,a 3D model of an active fault can significantly improve our understanding of seismogenesis and our ability to evaluate seismic hazards.Utilising the SKUA GoCAD software,we constructed detailed seismic fault models for the 2021 M_(S)6.4 Yangbi earthquake in Yunnan,China, using two sets of relocated earthquake catalogs and focal mechanism solutions following a convenient 3D fault modeling workflow. Our analysis revealed a NW-striking main fault with a high-angle SW dip, accompanied by two branch faults.Interpretation of one dataset revealed a single NNW-striking branch fault SW of the main fault, whereas the other dataset indicated four steep NNE-striking segments with a left-echelon pattern.Additionally,a third ENE-striking short fault was identified NE of the main fault. In combination with the spatial distribution of pre-existing faults, our 3D fault models indicate that the Yangbi earthquake reactivated pre-existing NW-and NE-striking fault directions rather than the surface-exposed Weixi-Qiaohou-Weishan Fault zone. The occurrence of the Yangbi earthquake demonstrates that the reactivation of pre-existing faults away from active fault zones, through either cascade or conjugate rupture modes, can cause unexpected moderate-large earthquakes and severe disasters, necessitating attention in regions like southeast Xizang, which have complex fault systems. 展开更多

Superconducting radio-frequency(SRF)cavities are the core components of SRF linear accelerators, making their stable operation considerably important. However, the operational experience from different accelerator laboratories has revealed that SRF faults are the leading cause of short machine downtime trips. When a cavity fault occurs, system experts analyze the time-series data recorded by low-level RF systems and identify the fault type. However, this requires expertise and intuition, posing a major challenge for control-room operators. Here,we propose an expert feature-based machine learning model for automating SRF cavity fault recognition. The main challenge in converting the"expert reasoning"process for SRF faults into a"model inference"process lies in feature extraction, which is attributed to the associated multidimensional and complex time-series waveforms.Existing autoregression-based feature-extraction methods require the signal to be stable and autocorrelated, resulting in difficulty in capturing the abrupt features that exist in several SRF failure patterns. To address these issues,we introduce expertise into the classification model through reasonable feature engineering. We demonstrate the feasibility of this method using the SRF cavity of the China accelerator facility for superheavy elements(CAFE2).Although specific faults in SRF cavities may vary across different accelerators, similarities exist in the RF signals. Therefore, this study provides valuable guidance for fault analysis of the entire SRF community. 展开更多

The frontal edge of the Makran accretionary wedge is characterized by the development of multiple imbricate thrust faults trending E-W and relatively parallel. However, the mechanisms underlying their formation and the factors controlling their development remain subjects of debate. This paper, based on seismic profile analysis, employs physical simulation experiments to establish a'wedge'type subduction model. The study explores the influence of the initial wedge angle, horizontal sand layer thickness, and the presence or absence of a decollement layer on the structural styles of the thrust wedge.Experimental results indicate that as the initial wedge angle decreases from 11°to 8°,the lateral growth of the thrust wedge increases, whereas vertical growth diminishes. When the horizontal sand layer thickness is reduced from 4.5 cm to 3.0 cm,the spacing between the frontal thrusts decreases and the number of thrust faults increases. Both lateral and vertical growth are relatively reduced, resulting in a smaller thrust wedge. When a decollement layer is present, the structural style exhibits layered deformation. The decollement layer constrains the development of back thrusts and promotes the localized formation of frontal thrusts. In conclusion, the imbricate thrust faults at the frontal edge of the Makran accretionary wedge are primarily controlled by the characteristics of the wedge itself and the presence of the decollement layer. 展开更多

Definite-time zero-sequence over-current protection is presently used in systems whose neutral point is grounded by a low resistance(low-resistance grounding systems). These systems frequently malfunction owing to their high settings of the action value when a high-impedance grounding fault occurs. In this study, the relationship between the zero-sequence currents of each feeder and the neutral branch was analyzed. Then,a grounding protection method was proposed on the basis of the zero-sequence current ratio coefficient. It is defined as the ratio of the zero-sequence current of the feeder to that of the neutral branch.Nonetheless, both zero-sequence voltage and zero-sequence current are affected by the transition resistance,The influence of transition resistance can be eliminated by calculating this coefficient. Therefore,a method based on the zero-sequence current ratio coefficient was proposed considering the significant difference between the faulty feeder and healthy feeder.Furthermore, unbalanced current can be prevented by setting the starting current.PSCAD simulation results reveal that the proposed method shows high reliability and sensitivity when a high-resistance grounding fault occurs. 展开更多

In the ultra-deep strata of the Tarim Basin, the vertical growth process of strike-slip faults remains unclear, and the vertical distribution of fractured-cavity carbonate reservoirs is complex. This paper investigates the vertical growth process of strike-slip faults through field outcrop observations in the Keping area, interpretation of seismic data from the Fuman Oilfield,Tarim Basim,NW China, and structural physical simulation experiments. The results are obtained mainly in four aspects.First, field outcrops and ultra-deep seismic profiles indicate a three-layer structure within the strike-slip fault, consisting of fault core, fracture zone and primary rock. The fault core can be classified into three parts vertically:fracture-cavity unit, fault clay and breccia zone. The distribution of fracture-cavity units demonstrates a distinct pattern of vertical stratification, owing to the structural characteristics and growth process of the slip-strike fault.Second, the ultra-deep seismic profiles show multiple fracture-cavity units in the strike-slip fault zone. These units can be classified into four types:top fractured, middle connected, deep terminated, and intra-layer fractured.Third, structural physical simulation experiments and ultra-deep seismic data interpretation reveal that the strike-slip faults have evolved vertically in three stages:segmental rupture, vertical growth, and connection and extension. The particle image velocimetry detection demonstrates that the initial fracture of the fault zone occurred at the top or bottom and then evolved into cavities gradually along with the fault growth, accompanied by the emergence of new fractures in the middle part of the strata, which subsequently connected with the deep and shallow cavities to form a complete fault zone.Fourth, the ultra-deep carbonate strata primarily develop three types of fractured-cavity reservoirs:flower-shaped fracture, large and deep fault and staggered overlap. The first two types are larger in size with better reservoir conditions, suggesting a significant exploration potential. 展开更多

Distribution networks in China and several other countries are predominantly neutral inefficiently grounding systems(NIGSs),and more than 80%of the faults in distribution networks are single-phase-to-ground(SPG)faults.Because of the weak fault current and imperfect monitoring equipment configurations, methods used to determine the faulty line secti ons with SPG faults in NIGSs are in effective. The developme nt and application of distributi on-level phasor measurement units(PMUs)provide further comprehensive fault information for fault diagnosis in a distribution network. When an SPG fault occurs, the transient energy of the faulted line section tends to be higher than the sum of the transient energies of other line sections. In this regard, transient energy-based fault location algorithms appear to be a promising resolution. In this study,a field test plan was designed and implemented for a 10 kV distribution network. The test results dem on strate the effective ness of the transient en ergy-based SPG locati on method in practical distributi on networks. 展开更多

The Archean buried-hill metamorphic reservoirs in the Bohai Bay Basin are examples of metamorphic rocks having faults with diverse strikes as a consequence of multi-phase tectonic evolution. For faults in metamorphic rocks,no method that accounts for the properties of metamorphic rocks exists for evaluating fault sealing capacity. To elucidate the mechanisms controlling sealing capacity, our study pioneers a novel methodology termed the Mylonite Gouge Ratio(MGR)method. This method integrates neutron density log responses, petrophysical characteristics, and corresponding depth-specific rock thin-section analyses to assess lateral fault sealing capacity.Application of this set of rules and procedures to metamorphic faults in the basin's Archean strata reveals two critical findings:spatially, the Block X exhibits elevated MGR values indicative of superior sealing efficiency;temporally,Yanshanian NE-trending faults demonstrate enhanced sealing capacity compared to Himalayan EW-trending counterparts, with pre-Yanshanian and syn-Yanshanian tectonic activities facilitating paleo-fluid migration while current sealing conditions favor hydrocarbon preservation. The new method provides a tailored framework for evaluating fault sealing in metamorphic rocks, where conventional methods designed for sedimentary sequences are often inapplicable. This study establishes a new theoretical model for fault-sealing analysis in complex metamorphic reservoirs, with implications for deep hydrocarbon exploration and development. 展开更多

Due to the wide and adjustable emission range,Ce^(3+)is an indispensable luminous center for full spectrum lighting. However,it needs to be sintered at high temperature in a reducing atmosphere, resulting in difficulty to coexisting with other multivalent activated ions(such as Eu^(3+),Tm^(3+)),which greatly hinders the formation of full spectrum. In this study,a calcium vacancy enhanced self-reduction of Ce^(4+)is realized in CaNaSb_(2)O_(6)F(CNSOF)host under air atmosphere sintering, through which Ce^(3+),Tm^(3+)and Eu^(3+)coexisting in a single-phase full spectrum phosphor was prepared.Notably, the artificial introduction of a calcium vacancy was designed to verify this self-reduction mechanism. Moreover, the energy transfer kinetics among Tm^(3+),Ce^(3+)and Eu^(3+)were explored. Finally, combined with a 340 nm UV chip,a full spectrum phosphor-converted light-emitting diode(pc-LED)was fabricated, showing a broad emission range from 400 to 750 nm,Commission Internationale de I'Edairage(CIE)of(0.3485,0.3673),Ra of 92 and correlated color temperature(CCT)of 4933 K.Utilizing the variation in emission colors of this phosphor under different UV wavelengths,a dual encryption method combining point character code and fluorescent encryption technique is proposed. This work provides an effective path for Ce^(4+)self-reduction to apply in full spectrum pc-LED and information encryption. 展开更多

Large basins are currently the global focus for geothermal development, with their hydrothermal system being controlled by a variety of factors, such as basement relief and fracture development.Donglihu is located at the north of the Cangxian uplift in the North China Basin, the concentrated geothermal resource development zone in North China. This study systematically collects temperature logging data and long-term dynamic monitoring of water level and water quality as well as group well tracer test data carried out in this area in recent years,on the basis of which the hydrothermal controlling role of the deep hidden faults is systematically analyzed. The results show that the Cangdong fault communicates with different geothermal reservoirs in the shallow part and plays a specific role in the water-heat channel of the local area.As a result, the high-value area of the geothermal temperature gradient in the sedimentary layer of the Donglihu area is distributed around the Cangdong fault. The geothermal reservoir temperature of the Minghuazhen Formation within the influence of the fault is also significantly higher than the regional average, the hydraulic head of different geothermal reservoirs showing a consistent and synergistic trend. However, the water quality has been stable for many years without any apparent changes. This understanding has a particular significance for further deepening understanding of the geothermal genesis mechanism in sedimentary basins and guiding future geothermal exploration and development in the Donglihu area. 展开更多
