Owing to the bistable character of the single molecular magnet (SMM), it can generate 100% spin-polarized currents even connected with normal (N) leads. In this work, we study the phonon-assisted spin current in N- SMM-N systems. We mainly focus on the interplay of SMM's bistable character and electron-phonon coupling. It is found that when SMM is trapped in one of the lowest bistable states, it can generate phonon-assisted spin- polarized currents. At the up-spin transport channel, it is accompanied by a phonon-assisted up-spin current, while at the down-spin transport channel, it is accompanied by a phonon-assisted down-spin current. 展开更多

This paper describes in details a new design of a fully automated multiple output micropotentiometer (?pot). A prototype has been built at the National Institute for Standards (NIS), Egypt to establish this highly improved AC voltage source in the millivolt range. The new device offers three different outputs covering a wide frequency range from only one outlet. This valuably supports the precise sourcing ranges of low AC voltage at NIS. The design and the operation theory of this prototype have been discussed in details. An automatic calibration technique has been introduced through specially designed software using the LabVIEW program to enhance the calibration technique and to reduce the uncertainty contributions. Relative small AC-DC differences of our prototype in the three output ranges are fairly verified. The expanded uncertainties of the calibration results for the three output ranges have been faithfully estimated. However, further work is needed to achieve the optimum performance of this new device. 展开更多

We report an electrochemically assisted mechanically controllable break junction (EC-MCBJ) approach to investigating single molecule conductance. Electrode pairs connected with a gold nanobridge were fabricated by electrochemical deposition and then mounted on a homebuilt MCBJ platform. A large number of Au- molecule-Au junctions were produced sequentially by repeated breaking and reconnecting of the gold nanobridge. In order to measure their single molecule conductance, statistical conductance histograms were generated for benzene-l,4-dithiol (BDT) and 4,4'-bipyridine (BPY). The values extracted from these histograms were found to be in the same range as values previously reported in the literature. Our method is distinct from the ones used to acquire these previously reported literature values, however, in that it is faster, simpler, more cost-effective, and changing the electrode material is more convenient. 展开更多
