Ensemble Simulation of Land Evapotranspiration in China Based on a Multi-Forcing and Multi-Model Approach 被引量:6

In order to reduce the uncertainty of offline land surface model (LSM) simulations of land evapotranspiration (ET), we used ensemble simulations based on three meteorological forcing datasets [Princeton, ITPCAS (Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences), Qian] and four LSMs (BATS, VIC, CLM3.0 and CLM3.5), to explore the trends and spatiotemporal characteristics of ET, as well as the spatiotemporal pattern of ET in response to climate factors over China's Mainland during 1982-2007. The results showed that various simulations of each member and their arithmetic mean (EnsAVlean) could capture the spatial distribution and seasonal pattern of ET sufficiently well, where they exhibited more significant spatial and seasonal variation in the ET compared with observation-based ET estimates (Obs_MTE). For the mean annual ET, we found that the BATS forced by Princeton forcing overestimated the annual mean ET compared with Obs_MTE for most of the basins in China, whereas the VIC forced by Princeton forcing showed underestimations. By contrast, the Ens_Mean was closer to Obs_MTE, although the results were underestimated over Southeast China. Furthermore, both the Obs_MTE and Ens_Mean exhibited a significant increasing trend during 1982-98; whereas after 1998, when the last big EI Nifio event occurred, the Ens_Mean tended to decrease significantly between 1999 and 2007, although the change was not significant for Obs_MTE. Changes in air temperature and shortwave radiation played key roles in the long-term variation in ET over the humid area of China, but precipitation mainly controlled the long-term variation in ET in arid and semi-arid areas of China. 展开更多

Urbanization causes hydrological change and increases stormwater runoff volumes, leading to flooding, erosion, and the degradation of instream ecosystem health. Best management practices (BMPs), like detention ponds and infiltration trenches, have been widely used to control flood runoff events for the past decade. However, low impact development (LID) options have been proposed as an alternative approach to better mimic the natural flow regime by using decentralized designs to control stormwater runoff at the source, rather than at a centralized location in the watershed. For highly urbanized areas, LID stormwater management practices such as bioretention cells and porous pavements can be used to retrofit existing infrastructure and reduce runoff volumes and peak flows. This paper describes a modeling approach to incorporate these LID practices and the two BMPs of detention ponds and infiltration trenches in an existing hydrological model to estimate the impacts of BMPs and LID practices on the surface runoff. The modeling approach has been used in a parking lot located in Lenexa, Kansas, USA, to predict hydrological performance of BMPs and LID practices. A performance indicator system including the flow duration curve, peak flow frequency exceedance curve, and runoff coefficient have been developed in an attempt to represent impacts of BMPs and LID practices on the entire spectrum of the runoff regime. Results demonstrate that use of these BMPs and LID practices leads to significant stormwater control for small rainfall events and less control for flood events. 展开更多

The simulation of a high-temperature gas-cooled reactor pebble-bed module(HTR-PM) plant is discussed.This lumped parameter model has the form of a set differential algebraic equations(DAEs) that include stiff equations to model point neutron kinetics.The nested approach is the most common method to solve DAE,but this approach is very expensive and time-consuming due to inner iterations.This paper deals with an alternative approach in which a simultaneous solution method is used.The DAEs are discretized over a time horizon using collocation on finite elements,and Radau collocation points are applied.The resulting nonlinear algebraic equations can be solved by existing solvers.The discrete algorithm is discussed in detail;both accuracy and stability issues are considered.Finally,the simulation results are presented to validate the efficiency and accuracy of the simultaneous approach that takes much less time than the nested one. 展开更多

In this paper, we develop a modified accelerated stochastic simulation method for chemically reacting systems, called the "final all possible steps" (FAPS) method, which obtains the reliable statistics of all species in any time during the time course with fewer simulation times. Moreover, the FAPS method can be incorporated into the leap methods, which makes the simulation of larger systems more efficient. Numerical results indicate that the proposed methods can be applied to a wide range of chemically reacting systems with a high-precision level and obtain a significant improvement on efficiency over the existing methods. 展开更多

A accelerated arithmetic algorithm of the dynamic computing regions was designed,and 3-dimensional numerical simulation of isothermal solidification for a binary alloy was implemented.The dendritic growth and the recalescence of Ni-Cu binary alloy during the solidification at different cooling rates were investigated.The effects of cooling rate on dendritic patterns and microsegregation patterns were studied.The computed results indicate that,with the increment of the cooling rate,the dendritic growth velocity increases,both the main branch and side-branches become slender,the secondary dendrite arm spacing becomes smaller,the inadequate solute diffusion in solid aggravates,and the severity of microsegregation ahead of interface aggravates.At a higher cooling rate,the binary alloy presents recalescence;while the cooling rate is small,no recalescence occurs. 展开更多

Hybrid simulation has been shown to be a cost-effective approach for assessing the seismic performance of structures. In hybrid simulation,critical parts of a structure are physically tested,while the remaining portions of the system are concurrently simulated computationally,typically using a finite element model. This combination is realized through a numerical time-integration scheme,which allows for investigation of full system-level responses of a structure in a cost-effective manner. However,conducting hybrid simulation of complex structures within large-scale testing facilities presents significant challenges. For example,the chosen modeling scheme may create numerical inaccuracies or even result in unstable simulations; the displacement and force capacity of the experimental system can be exceeded; and a hybrid test may be terminated due to poor communication between modules(e.g.,loading controllers,data acquisition systems,simulation coordinator). These problems can cause the simulation to stop suddenly,and in some cases can even result in damage to the experimental specimens; the end result can be failure of the entire experiment. This study proposes a phased approach to hybrid simulation that can validate all of the hybrid simulation components and ensure the integrity largescale hybrid simulation. In this approach,a series of hybrid simulations employing numerical components and small-scale experimental components are examined to establish this preparedness for the large-scale experiment. This validation program is incorporated into an existing,mature hybrid simulation framework,which is currently utilized in the Multi-Axial Full-Scale Sub-Structuring Testing and Simulation(MUST-SIM) facility of the George E. Brown Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation(NEES) equipment site at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. A hybrid simulation of a four-span curved bridge is presented as an example,in which three piers are experimentally controlled in a total of 18 degrees of freedom(DOFs). The performance analysis consists of two phases: first system modeling, second performance evalua-tion. The paper models the flexible reactive system by the stochas-tic statecharts method, and uses the simulation method to evalu-ate the performance. To make use of the feature of event-triggered state transitions in the statecharts, a new method of simulation is proposed based on the techniques of the discrete-event system simulation. The new method solves the problem of computer imple-mentation of stochastic events, probabilistic transition, concurrent states, paral el actions, and broadcast communication mechanism in the stochastic statecharts. An example of a flexible manufactur-ing system is presented. The simulation result of the example is consistent with the analytical result, which shows the feasibility of the proposed new simulation method. 展开更多

In this study,we investigated the structural and dynamical properties of liquid water by using ab initio molecular dynamics simulation under periodic boundary conditions based on the fragment-based quantum mechanical approach.This study was carried out using the second-order Møller-Plesset perturbation theory(MP2)with the aug-cc-pVDZ basis set,which has been validated to be sufficiently accurate for describing water interactions.Diverse properties of liquid water,including radial distribution functions,diffusion coefficient,dipole moment,triplet oxygen-oxygen-oxygen angles,and hydrogen-bond structures,were simulated.This ab initio description leads to these properties in good agreement with experimental observations.This computational approach is general and transferable,providing a comprehensive framework for ab initio predictions of properties of condensed-phase matters. 展开更多

The income approach of asset valuation estimates the asset value according to the asset-discounted future earnings or the capitalizing process. As a result, a reasonable prediction of asset-expected future returns has become one of the core contents of the income approach. The forecast on expected future earnings is generally based on many uncertain factors, such as strict conditions of assumption and the complexity of environment. However, the current valuation practice in this aspect varies greatly and sometimes depends on personally experienced judgment of appraisers. Therefore, the obtained valuation results tend to be simplified and absolutized. This paper takes a listed company in China as an example to explore the way of inserting an uncertainty analysis into the prediction of the income approach, and then to obtain a series of valuation results within a certain probability fluctuation range. Finally, it puts forward some suggestions about the Monte Carlo simulation (MCS). 展开更多

We present a general numerical simulation method to solve non-Markovian dynamics of an open quantum system influenced by quantum Brownian motion.Based on the determined memory kernel function,this method enables the resolution of non-Markovian dynamics for a wide range of system Hamiltonians and spectral densities.The system dynamics are described by exact integro-differential operator equations without any common approximations and they are simulated in this work by definite-number equations with stochastic initial conditions.This approach ensures the applicability of mature numerical methods and maintains computational complexity that remains largely invariant,even when dealing with more complex models.The high accuracy of our simulation is evident from a comparison with the results obtained from corresponding exact master equations,underscoring the reliability and precision of our method. 展开更多

Sequential-modular-based process flowsheeting software remains an indispensable tool for process design,control,and optimization.Yet,as the process industry advances in intelligent operation and maintenance,conventional sequential-modular-based process-simulation techniques present challenges regarding computationally intensive calculations and significant central processing unit(CPU)time requirements,particularly in large-scale design and optimization tasks.To address these challenges,this paper proposes a novel process-simulation parallel computing framework(PSPCF).This framework achieves layered parallelism in recycling processes at the unit operation level.Notably,PSPCF introduces a groundbreaking concept of formulating simulation problems as task graphs and utilizes Taskflow,an advanced task graph computing system,for hierarchical parallel scheduling and the execution of unit operation tasks.PSPCF also integrates an advanced work-stealing scheme to automatically balance thread resources with the demanding workload of unit operation tasks.For evaluation,both a simpler parallel column process and a more complex cracked gas separation process were simulated on a flowsheeting platform using PSPCF.The framework demonstrates significant time savings,achieving over 60%reduction in processing time for the simpler process and a 35%–40%speed-up for the more complex separation process. 展开更多

人工智能时代的来临使得神经网络与深度学习在不同学科领域中得到了应用。本研究提出了一种基于深度神经网络的方法,用物理信息驱动的神经网络解决二维Navier-Stokes方程求解问题,并对整个物理系统进行建模。为了方便传统计算流体力学(C... 人工智能时代的来临使得神经网络与深度学习在不同学科领域中得到了应用。本研究提出了一种基于深度神经网络的方法,用物理信息驱动的神经网络解决二维Navier-Stokes方程求解问题,并对整个物理系统进行建模。为了方便传统计算流体力学(Computational Fluid Dynamics,CFD)数值计算,采用推进剂通入稀薄气体空腔这一经典问题来代替真空中的不可压缩气体流动问题,以满足传统CFD方法的连续性介质假设。在本文所提出的方法中,将Navier-Stokes方程与基于物理信息神经网络(Physics-Informed Neural Networks,PINN)相结合,将物理信息嵌入神经网络,使结果更符合物理定律,建模性能更强。另外此研究引入了基于域分解思想的扩展物理信息神经网络(eXtended Physics-Informed Neural Network,XPINN)方法,试图改进PINN建模效果。结果表明本文提出的基于PINN的气体扩散场建模方法有以下优点:1)与传统的CFD方法相比,该方法与FLUENT求解结果误差较小,可以得到比较准确的数值结果;2)比纯数据驱动的神经网络方法建模预测精度和物理一致性;3)可以求解偏微分方程(Partial Differential Equations,PDEs)逆问题;4)基于域分解思想的XPINN的建模性能要比普通PINN方法表现更优秀。 展开更多

基于精细化模拟的大跨度空腹拱桁式引桥地震响应分析
