There are many methods to judge liquefaction, but the calculation accuracy of different methods varies greatly under different conditions due to the different judgment basis of different methods. Different or even opposite results will be obtained when different methods are used to judge liquefaction possibility of sand. In order to be able to accurately determine sand liquefaction potential, introduces the commonly used methods for the sandy soil liquefaction discrimination, on this basis, combining with an engineering example of typical field measured data, the application method for code and anti-liquefaction shear stress method for the determination, review and comparative analysis, and puts forward reasonable based on the analysis results of sand liquefaction potential discriminant method and standard. 展开更多

Application of equivalent resistance to simplification of Sutong Bridge piers in tidal river section modeling

This paper describes some details and procedural steps in the equivalent resistance (E-R) method for simplifying the pier group of the Sutong Bridge, which is located on the tidal reach of the lower Yangtze River, in Jiangsu Province. Using a two-dimensional tidal current numerical model, three different models were established: the non-bridge pier model, original bridge pier model, and simplified bridge pier model. The difference in hydrodynamic parameters, including water level, velocity, and diversion ratio, as well as time efficiency between these three models is discussed in detail. The results show that simplifying the pier group using the E-R method influences the water level and velocity near the piers, but has no influence on the diversion ratio of each cross-section of the Xuliujing reach located in the lower Yangtze River. Furthermore, the simplified bridge pier model takes half the calculation time that the original bridge pier model needs. Thus, it is concluded that the E-R method can be use to simplify bridge piers in tidal river section modeling reasonably and efficiently. 展开更多

Fast Calculation of Transformer Hot Spot Temperature Based on Winding Equivalent Thermal Parameters

The hot spot temperature of a transformer is one of the critical indicators reflecting its operating status.Accurate and fast calculation of hot spot temperature is significant for the online monitoring of transformers.Considering the low computational efficiency of the transformer’s numerical full model(FM),this paper presents a model simplification method based on the equivalent thermal parameters of windings to expedite hot spot temperature computation.Initially,the representative volume element(RVE)reflecting the periodic structure of windings is selected to formulate a reduced model(RM)for the transformer.Subsequently,to achieve equivalence between the RM and the FM,the equivalent thermal parameters of the RVE are calculated,containing the equivalent thermal conductivity(ETC),the equivalent density(ED),and the equivalent specific heat capacity(ESHC).Finally,the validity of the RM is verified by the temperature rise test.The results show that,compared with the tested data,the maximum error of the hot spot temperature calculated by the RM is 2.56 K,demonstrating the accuracy of the hot spot temperature calculation by the RM.Compared with the FM,the computing time of the proposed RM is reduced to 1/189,which significantly improves the computational efficiency. 展开更多
