Logistics Engineering Management in the Platform Supply Chain: An Overview from Logistics Service Strategy Selection Perspective

With the accelerated expansion of the platform economy,the supply chain has evolved into a new stage of the platform supply chain(PSC),which is deeply integrated with the platform economy.Logistics engineering management plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of PSCs and contributes to the construction of a global economic system.Given its importance to the efficiency of PSCs,the choice of logistics service strategy in logistics engineering management has attracted considerable scholarly attention.However,the current research is fragmented and lacks systematic analysis and synthesis.This paper provides a comprehensive overview of logistics engineering management in PSCs from the perspective of logistics service strategy selection from January 2005 to September 2024.To this end,we first review the research related to self-built logistics(SBL)and third-party logistics(3PL)in PSCs due to the complete independence of these two logistics service strategies.The results show that the following two topics are of great interest to researchers.One is the choice of the optimal logistics service strategy for the members of PSCs,while the other is the impact of factors related to logistics services on PSCs,including the channel selection,platform entry,sales model,and so forth.Next,we summarize the determinants influencing the choice between SBL and 3PL for the members of PSCs.The results indicate that the influencing factors are the service cost and service level,followed by the channel,brand,market potential,and competition.Then,on the basis of the themes of logistics service sharing(LSS),we review the research on LSS in PSCs,as LSS often emerges as an innovative model after a certain stage of development in SBL and 3PL.We find that LSS is regarded as an important complement to SBL and 3PL,with key research hotspots,including the channel,partner selection,and service competition.Service cost is a major factor influencing LSS,with competition,consumers'logistics preference,and market potential being secondary factors.Finally,this paper outlines several important and promising directions for future research.This paper has important management implications for building a modern logistics system and promoting the transformation of PSCs. 展开更多

Objective:Integrated congenital heart disease(CHD)services were implemented in Beijing in 2022.This study analyzed prenatal diagnosis patterns and neonatal mortality data for duct-dependent CHDs before and after implementation to provide insights for service optimization.Methods:We conducted a retrospective analysis of 487 cases of duct-dependent CHDs identified through the Beijing Birth Defects Monitoring System from January 2021 to December 2022.The study population included fetuses and infants from 13 weeks gestation to one year after birth.Cases underwent descriptive analysis focusing on disease occurrence,diagnostic timing,and mortality outcomes.Results:The prenatal diagnosis rate for ductdependent CHDs increased from 93.39%in 2021 to 93.91%in 2022,while delayed diagnosis rates decreased from 4.28%to 3.91%.Genetic diagnosis rates improved from 27.92%to 31.94%.Live birth rates following prenatal diagnosis increased substantially from 28.75%to 40.28%.Outcomes varied significantly by CHD subtypes,with complete transposition of the great arteries with intact ventricular septum achieving an 82.14%live birth rate,while hypoplastic left heart syndrome cases resulted in no live births.Notably,neonatal mortality decreased markedly from 7.23%to 3.03%.Conclusions:Beijing’s integrated service model for CHDs has effectively strengthened the connection between secondary and tertiary prevention strategies,reduced unnecessary pregnancy terminations,and improved neonatal survival outcomes. 展开更多

Purpose:The purpose of this paper is to explore how libraries can develop service and product strategies and the service support mechanism to provide industrial technology information service in science parks.Design/methodology/approach:The analysis is based on a case study of a large Chinese research library,National Science Library(NSL),the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS),in serving high-tech companies in Zhongguancun Science Park(Z-Park).Findings:NSL’s practices suggested that in serving business clients,libraries’ product and service strategies should be based on the understanding of users’ needs.Aside from those services that have been recognized by clients such as document retrieval & delivery and novelty search,libraries may expand their service and provide in-depth information analysis and consultation for some key clients.Moreover,a service and product development system should be established,which differentiates the libraries’ products and services from those of their competitors.In providing industrial technology information service,libraries need to construct the service support mechanism,publicize their service and learn to cooperate with clients to meet their demands for knowledge management and innovation.Research limitations:The generalizability of the findings is limited because they are based on an individual case study.Practical implications:Our service practices provide useful information for other libraries to expand their information service to high-tech companies in the new information environment.Originality/value:Z-Park is the first and one of the largest science and technology parks in China.Hence NSL’s practices in serving high-tech companies in Z-Park can be valuable to other libraries that intend to take up the similar service. 展开更多

This study aims to resolve the difficult problem of manufacturers’service outsourcing strategy decision-making,with services divided into two types:hygienic and motivational.We build a value creation model for the manufacturer,service contractor,and customer under different outsourcing strategies,and we examine optimal outsourcing decision-making in various scenarios and its effect on the value creation of related entities.The results indicate that motivational services have a lower bound characterized by service utility.When the manufacturer derives services higher than this lower bound,it should operate its own motivational service and outsource the hygienic service to create greater value.When the manufacturer is limited by resources or capabilities and is required to outsource the motivational service,it can maintain value creation by setting an appropriate contract coefficient.The service contractor should undertake motivational services within the contract boundary negotiated by the manufacturer and conduct hygienic services outside the boundary.Theoretically,outsourcing both service types can maximize customer value,but this may not achieve the manufacturers’optimal value creation. 展开更多

This paper focuses on the service management for digitally disadvantaged groups in Chinese and American public libraries.Utilizing a comparative analysis method,it explores the differences and dilemmas between the two countries in terms of policy support,resource allocation,service models,and librarian training.The research finds that the United States has established a relatively comprehensive legal guarantee system and diverse funding channels,but recent federal policy fluctuations pose risks to project sustainability.Although China has made significant progress in equalizing services,it still faces structural challenges such as insufficient institutional guarantees and uneven resource allocation.Based on the comparative analysis,this paper proposes strategic suggestions including establishing a four-dimensional support system of"Law-Resources-Technology-Personnel"and promoting a"Digital Inclusion Partnership"model,aiming to provide references for Chinese public libraries to improve services for digitally disadvantaged groups. 展开更多
