This paper describes the analysis and design of an assistive device for elderly people under development at the EgyptJapan University of Science and Technology(E-JUST) named E-JUST assistive device(EJAD).Several e...This paper describes the analysis and design of an assistive device for elderly people under development at the EgyptJapan University of Science and Technology(E-JUST) named E-JUST assistive device(EJAD).Several experiments were carried out using a motion capture system(VICON) and inertial sensors to identify the human posture during the sit-to-stand motion.The EJAD uses only two inertial measurement units(IMUs) fused through an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems(ANFIS) algorithm to imitate the real motion of the caregiver.The EJAD consists of two main parts,a robot arm and an active walker.The robot arm is a 2-degree-of-freedom(2-DOF) planar manipulator.In addition,a back support with a passive joint is used to support the patient s back.The IMUs on the leg and trunk of the patient are used to compensate for and adapt to the EJAD system motion depending on the obtained patient posture.The ANFIS algorithm is used to train the fuzzy system that converts the IMUs signals to the right posture of the patient.A control scheme is proposed to control the system motion based on practical measurements taken from the experiments.A computer simulation showed a relatively good performance of the EJAD in assisting the patient.展开更多

In this paper the use of Cathodic Protection (CP) system and how they can be developed to simulate corrosion control solution was illustrated. The aim of developing a Cathodic Protection system is to provide control over oil pipelines and to reduce the incidence of corrosion. The proposed system integrates the technology of wireless sensor Network (WSN) in order to collect potential data and to realize remote data transmission. In this system each WSN receives the data from the environment and forwards it to a Remote Terminal Unit (RTU). Then each RTU forwards it to its base station (BS). In this work Labview 2010 program was used, due to its high potentials. In addition it contains a Tool Kit that supports the wireless sensor network. In this simulation used many cases study to test and monitoring data and get optimum results, least time delay and high speed to prevent corrosion.展开更多

The sensor unit is composed of the ...The working state of drilling bit is a critical issue in the drilling process. The preliminary design of pressure and torque separation sensor for drilling bit is expatiated herein. The sensor unit is composed of the elastic unit and the Wheatstone full bridge. Under composited load, the theoretical analysis about separating the axial force and torque of drilling bit is discussed firstly. The separation has been achieved by using the Wheatstone full bridge pasted onto the elastic unit. Then the transversal and axial strains distribution of elastic unit has been calculated and analyzed by ANSYS software, when the bit is under axial force and torque. Based on the calculation and analysis results, the sensitivity and accuracy of the sensor's whole measurement chain can be reckoned. Meanwhile, the calculation and analysis results can also give good suggestion about the positions where the strains gauge should be pasted. Finally, it has been proved that this solution can meet the preset requirements very well.展开更多
