Tailoring oxygen vacancies in Ni-doped In_(2)O_(3) for improved thin-film transistor stability and performance via solution processing

Doping in thin-film transistors(TFTs) plays a crucial role in tailoring material properties to enhance device performance, making them essential for advanced electronic applications. This study explores the synthesis and characterization of TFTs fabricated using nickel(Ni)-doped indium oxide(In_(2)O_(3)) via a wet-chemical approach. The presented work investigates the effect of "Ni" incorporation in In_(2)O_(3) on the structural and electrical transport properties of In_(2)O_(3), revealing that higher "Ni" content decreases the oxygen vacancies, leading to a reduction in leakage current and a forward shift in threshold potential(V_(th)).Experimental findings reveal that Ni In O-based TFTs(with Ni = 0.5%) showcase enhanced electrical performance, achieving mobility of 7.54 cm^(2)/(V·s), an impressive ON/OFF current ratio of ~10^(7), a V_(th) of 6.26 V, reduced interfacial trap states(D_(it)) of 8.23 ×10^(12) cm^(-2) and enhanced biased stress stability. The efficacy of "Ni" incorporation is attributed to the upgraded Lewis acidity, stable Ni-O bond strength, and small ionic radius of Ni. Negative bias illumination stability(NBIS) measurements further indicate that device stability diminishes with shorter light wavelengths, likely due to the activation of oxygen vacancies. These findings validate the solution-processed techniques' potential for future large-scale, low-cost, energy-efficient, and high-performance electronics. 展开更多

The dynamics of the drying process of polymer solutions are important for the development of coatings and films.In the present work,digital holographic microscopy(DHM)was performed to capture the drying dynamics of poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO)droplets using a gold nanoparticle tracer,where the heterogeneous flow field in different regions was illustrated.This demonstrates that the gold nanoparticles at either the center or the edge regions of the droplet exhibit anisotropic kinematic behavior.At early stage,Marangoni backflow causes gold nanoparticles to move towards the edge firstly,and the circles back towards the droplet center after arriving the contact line with a sudden increase in z axis for 10.4μm,indicating the scale of the upward-moving microscopic flow vortices.This phenomenon does not occur in water droplets in the absence of polymers.The gold nanoparticles underwent Brownian-like motion at the center of the PEO droplet or water droplet owing to the low perturbation of the flow field.At the late stage of pinning of the PEO droplets,the motion showed multiple reverses in the direction of the gold nanoparticles,indicating the complexity of the flow field.This study enhances the understanding of the drying dynamics of polymer solution droplets and offers valuable insights into the fabrication of surface materials. 展开更多

The solution purification process is an essential step in zinc hydrometallurgy. The performance of solution purification directly affects the normal functioning and economical benefits of zinc hydrometallurgy. This paper summarizes the authors' recent work on the modeling, optimization, and control of solution purification process. The online measurable property of the oxidation reduction potential(ORP) and the multiple reactors, multiple running statuses characteristic of the solution purification process are extensively utilized in this research. The absence of reliable online equipment for detecting the impurity ion concentration is circumvented by introducing the oxidationreduction potential into the kinetic model. A steady-state multiple reactors gradient optimization, unsteady-state operationalpattern adjustment strategy, and a process evaluation strategy based on the oxidation-reduction potential are proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed research is demonstrated by its industrial experiment. 展开更多

It is confirmed that phase homogenization is very important for improving the magnetic properties of 2:17-type Sm-Co sintered magnets,In this work,the influence of solid solution process on microstructure and magnetic properties of the Sm(CobalFe0.233Cu0.073Zr0.024)7.6 sintered magnets was systematically studied.With the solid-solution treating duration(tS)increasing from 0 to 4 h,intrinsic coercivity(Hcj)increases from 12.83 to 36.54 kOe,magnetic field at knee-point(Hknee)increases from2.76 to 19.14 kOe,and the maximum energy product increases from 19.79 to 29.48 MGOe.The electron probe microanalyzer results reveal that there mainly exist gray and dark regions besides"white"rare earth-rich phase,and the conte nt of Sm,Fe and Cu elements for the two kinds of regions changes a lot for the specimens,Furthermore,with tS increasing up to 4 h,the elements content deviation between the gray and dark regions becomes small gradually from 3.94 at%to 0.27 at%,7.66 at%to 0.21 at%and 7.27 at%to 0.16 at%for Sm,Fe and Cu elements,respectively.Moreover,transmission electron microscopy results show that the distribution of cell size is much more concentrated for aged specimens when tS is 4 h.It is also found that the Cu concentration at cell boundaries for the 4 h solid-solution treatment case shows relatively higher values and greater concentration gradient(1.94 at%/nm).It is verified that sufficient solution treatment duration is prerequisite to form these homogeneous microstructural features,which are the key points for obtaining both high Hcj and Hknee. 展开更多

Carbon dioxide mineral sequestration with steelmaking slag is a promising method for reducing carbon dioxide in a large- scale setting. Existing calcium oxide or calcium hydroxide in steelmaking slag can be easily leached by water, and the formed calcium carbonate can be easily wrapped on the surface of unreacted steelmaking slag particles. Thus, further increase in the carbonation reaction rate can be prevented. Enhanced carbon dioxide mineral sequestration with steel- making slag in dilute alkali solution was analysed in this study through experiments and process evaluation. Operating conditions, namely alkali concentration, reaction temperature and time, and liquid-to-solid ratio, were initially investigated. Then, the material and energy balance of the entire process was calculated, and the net carbon dioxide sequestration efficiency at different reaction times was evaluated. Results showed that dilute alkali solution participated in slowing down the leaching of active calcium in the steelmaking slag and in significantly improving carbonation conversion rate. The highest carbonation conversion rate of approximately 50% can be obtained at the optimal conditions of 20 g/L alkali concentration, 2 mL/L liquid-to-solid ratio, and 70 ℃ reaction temperature. Carbonation reaction time significantly influences the net carbon dioxide sequestration efficiency. According to calculation, carbon dioxide emission of 52.6 kg/t- slag was avoided at a relatively long time of 120 min. 展开更多

Cyclic metallurgical process for separation and recovery of Cr from vanadium precipitated solution by precipitation with PbCO_(3)and leaching with Na_(2)CO_(3)was investigated.The concentration of Cr residue in the solution decreases from 2.360 to 0.001 g/L by adding PbCO_(3)into vanadium precipitated solution according to Pb/Cr molar ratio of 2.5,adjusting the pH to 3.0 and stirring for 180 min at 30℃.Then,the precipitates were leached with hot Na_(2)CO_(3)solution to obtain leaching solution containing Na_(2)CrO_(4)and leaching residue containing PbCO_(3).The leaching efficiency of Cr reaches 96.43%by adding the precipitates into 0.5 mol/L Na_(2)CO_(3)solution with the mass ratio of liquid to solid(L/S)of 10:1 mL/g and stirring for 60 min under pH 9.5 at 70℃.After filtration,leaching residue is reused in Cr precipitation and leaching solution is used to circularly leach the Cr precipitates until Na_(2)CrO_(4)approaches the saturation.Finally,the product of Na_(2)CrO_(4)·4H_(2)O is obtained by evaporation and crystallization of leaching solution. 展开更多

The exothermic efficiency of microwave heating an electrolyte/water solution is remarkably high due to the dielectric heating by orientation polarization of water and resistance heating by the Joule process occurred simultaneously compared with pure water.A three-dimensional finite element numerical model of multi-feed microwave heating industrial liquids continuously flowing in a meter-scale circular tube is presented.The temperature field inside the applicator tube in the cavity is solved by COMSOL Multiphysics and professional programming to describe the momentum,energy and Maxwell's equations.The evaluations of the electromagnetic field,the temperature distribution and the velocity field are simulated for the fluids dynamically heated by singleand multi-feed microwave system,respectively.Both the pilot experimental investigations and numerical results of microwave with single-feed heating for fluids with different effective permittivity and flow rates show that the presented numerical modeling makes it possible to analyze dynamic process of multi-feed microwave heating the industrial liquid.The study aids in enhancing the understanding and optimizing of dynamic process in the use of multi-feed microwave heating industrial continuous flow for a variety of material properties and technical parameters. 展开更多

To investigate groundwater flow and solute transport characteristics of the karst trough zone in China,tracer experiments were conducted at two adjacent typical karst groundwater flow systems(Yuquandong(YQD)and Migongquan(MGQ))in Sixi valley,western Hubei,China.Highresolution continuous monitoring was utilized to obtain breakthrough curves(BTCs),which were then analyzed using the multi-dispersion model(MDM)and the two-region nonequilibrium model(2RNE)with basic parameters calculated by CXTFIT and QTRACER2.Results showed that:(1)YQD flow system had a complex infiltration matrix with overland flow,conduit flow and fracture flow,while the MGQ flow system was dominated by conduit flow with fast flow transport velocity,but also small amount of fracture flow there;(2)They were well fitted based on the MDM(R^2=0.928)and 2RNE(R^2=0.947)models,indicating that they had strong adaptability in the karst trough zone;(3)conceptual models for YQD and MGQ groundwater systems were generalized.In YQD system,the solute was transported via overland flow during intense rainfall,while some infiltrated down into fissures and conduits.In MGQ system,most were directly transported to spring outlet in the fissureconduit network. 展开更多

As a result, a certified power conversion efficiency(PCE) of 25.5% was recorded in late 2020. Although this efficiency is comparable with silicon solar cells;some issues remain partially unsolved, such as lead toxicity, instability of perovskite materials under continuous illumination, moisture and oxygen, and degradation of the metallic counter electrodes. As an alternative to tackle this last concern, carbon materials have been recently used, due to their good electrical and thermal conductivity, and chemical stability, which makes them one of the most promising materials to replace metallic counter electrodes in the fabrication of PSCs. This review highlights the recent advances of carbon-based PSCs, where the carbon electrode(CE) is the main actor.CEs have become very promising candidates for PSCs;they are mainly fabricated using a simple combination of graphite and carbon black powders embedded in a binder matrix, giving a paste that is then solution-processable, resulting in devices with improved quality stability, when compared to metallic electrodes. In this review, CE’s composition is emphasized, since it can give both, high and lowtemperature processed electrodes, compatible with different device configurations. Finally, the tendencies and opportunities to use CE in PSCs devices are presented. 展开更多

Nonfullerene organic solar cells(OSCs)have achieved breakthrough with pushing the efficiency exceeding 17%.While this shed light on OSC commercialization,high-performance flexible OSCs should be pursued through solution manufacturing.Herein,we report a solution-processed flexible OSC based on a transparent conducting PEDOT:PSS anode doped with trifluoromethanesulfonic acid(CF3SO3H).Through a low-concentration and low-temperature CF3SO3H doping,the conducting polymer anodes exhibited a main sheet resistance of 35Ωsq−1(minimum value:32Ωsq−1),a raised work function(≈5.0 eV),a superior wettability,and a high electrical stability.The high work function minimized the energy level mismatch among the anodes,hole-transporting layers and electron-donors of the active layers,thereby leading to an enhanced carrier extraction.The solution-processed flexible OSCs yielded a record-high efficiency of 16.41%(maximum value:16.61%).Besides,the flexible OSCs afforded the 1000 cyclic bending tests at the radius of 1.5 mm and the long-time thermal treatments at 85°C,demonstrating a high flexibility and a good thermal stability. 展开更多

The separation and recovery of V from chromium-containing vanadate solution were investigated by a cyclic metallurgical process including selective precipitation of vanadium,vanadium leaching and preparation of vanadium pentoxide.By adding Ca(OH)_(2) and ball milling,not only the V in the solution can be selectively precipitated,but also the leaching kinetics of the precipitate is significantly improved.The precipitation efficiency of V is 99.59%by adding Ca(OH)_(2) according to Ca/V molar ratio of 1.75:1 into chromium-containing vanadate solution and ball milling for 60 min at room temperature,while the content of Cr in the precipitate is 0.04%.The leaching rate of V reaches 99.35%by adding NaHCO_(3) into water according to NaHCO_(3)/V molar ratio of 2.74:1 to leach V from the precipitate with L/S ratio of 4:1 mL/g and stirring for 60 min at room temperature.The crystals of NH_(4)VO_(3) are obtained by adjusting the leaching solution pH to be 8.0 with CO2 and then adding NH_(4)HCO_(3) according to NH_(4)HCO_(3)/NaVO_(3) molar ratio of 1:1 and stirring for 8 h at room temperature.After filtration,the crystallized solution containing ammonia is reused to leach the precipitate of calcium vanadates,and the leaching efficiency of V is>99%after stirring for 1 h at room temperature.Finally,the product of V_(2)O_(5) with purity of 99.6%is obtained by calcining the crystals at 560℃ for 2 h. 展开更多

A simple and effective photochemical method was developed for cross-linking of polymer gate dielectrics. Laborious synthetic processes for functionalizing polymer dielectrics with photo-cross-linkable groups were avoided. The photo-cross-linker, BBP-4, was added into host polymers by simple solution blending process, which was capable of abstracting hydrogen atoms from polymers containing active C--H groups upon exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. The cross-linking can be completed with a relatively long wavelength UV light (365 nm). The approach has been applied to methacrylate and styrenic polymers such as commercial poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA), poly(iso-butylmethacrylate) (PiBMA) and poly(4-methylstyrene) (PMS). The cross-linked networks enhanced dielectric properties and solvent resistance of the thin films. The bottom-gate organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) through all solution processes on plastic substrate were fabricated. The OFET devices showed low voltage operation and steep subthreshold swing at relatively small gate dielectric capacitance. 展开更多

Equilibrium Zn isotope fractionation was inves- tigated using first-principles quantum chemistry methods at the B3LYP/6-311G level. The volume variable cluster model method was used to calculate isotope fractionation factors of sphalerite, smithsonite, calcite, anorthite, for- sterite, and enstatite. The water-droplet method was used to calculate Zn isotope fractionation factors of Zn^2+-bearing aqueous species; their reduced partition function ratio factors decreased in the order [Zn(H2O)6]^2+ 〉 [ZnCl(H2O)5]^ + 〉 [ZnCl2(H2O)4] 〉 [ZnCl3(H20)2]^-〉 ZnCl4]^2-. Gas- eous ZnCl2 was also calculated for vaporization processes. Kinetic isotope fractionation of diffusional processes in a vacuum was directly calculated using formulas provided by Richter and co-workers. Our calculations show that in addition to the kinetic isotope effect of diffusional processes, equilibrium isotope fractionation also contributed nontriv- ially to observed Zn isotope fractionation of vaporization processes. The calculated net Zn isotope fractionation of vaporization processes was 7-7.5‰, with ZnCl2 as the gas- eous species. This matches experimental observations of the range of Zn isotope distribution of lunar samples. Therefore, vaporization processes may be the cause of the large distri- bution of Zn isotope signals found on the Moon. However, we cannot further distinguish the origin of such vaporization processes; it might be due either to igneous rock melting inmeteorite bombardments or to a giant impact event. Fur- thermore, isotope fractionation between Zn-bearing aqueous species and minerals that we have provided helps explain Zn isotope data in the fields of ore deposits and petrology. 展开更多

Thermally activated delayed fluorescent(TADF) materials capable of efficient solution-processed nondoped organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs) are of important and practical significance for further development of OLEDs. In this work, a new electron-donating segment, 2,7-di(9 H-carbazol-9-yl)-9,9-dimethyl-9,10-dihydroacridine(2 Cz-DMAC), was designed to develop solution-processable non-doped TADF emitters. 2 Cz-DMAC can not only simultaneously increase the solubility of compounds and suppress harmful aggregation-caused quenching, but also efficiently broaden the delocalization of the highest occupied molecular orbital and promote the reverse intersystem crossing process. Three new TADF emitters, 2-(2,7-di(9 H-carbazol-9-yl)-9,9-dimethylacridin-10(9 H)-yl)dibenzo[b,d]thiophene 5,5-dioxide(2 Cz-DMAC-BTB), 2-(2,7-di(9 H-carbazol-9-yl)-9,9-dimethylacridin-10(9 H)-yl)-9 H-thioxanthen-9-one(2 Cz-DMAC-TXO), 2-(2,7-di(9 H-carbazol-9-yl)-9,9-dimethylacridin-10(9 H)-yl)thianthrene 5,5,10,10-tetraoxide(2 Cz-DMAC-TTR), were developed by using 2 Cz-DMAC segment as the electron-donor. As anticipated, the solution-processed non-doped OLEDs employing 2 Cz-DMAC-BTB, 2 Cz-DMAC-TXO and 2 CzDMAC-TTR as the emitters respectively exhibited green, orange and red emissions with maximum external quantum efficiencies of 14.0%, 6.6% and 2.9%. These results successfully demonstrate the feasibility and convenience of developing efficient solution-processable non-doped TADF emitters based on 2 CzDMAC segment. 展开更多

The filling and exhausting processes in a pneumatic system are involved with many factors, and numerical solutions of many partial differential equations are always adapted in the study of those processes, which have been proved to be troublesome and less intuitive. Analytical solutions based on loss-less tube model and average friction tube model are found respectively by using fluid net theory, and they fit the experimental results well. The research work shows that: Fluid net theory can be used to solve the analytical solution of filling and exhausting processes of pneumatic system, and the result of loss-less tube model is close to that of average friction model, so loss-less tube model is recommended since it is simpler, and the difference between filling time and exhausting time is determined by initial and final pressures, the volume of container and the section area of tube, and has nothing to do with the length of the tube. 展开更多
