Measurement of self-development capacity in the contiguous destitute mountainous areas, China

Affected by the mountainous location and ecological vulnerability, the incidence of poverty in contiguous destitute mountainous areas is higher than that in other regions of China. Regional selfdevelopment capacity is an internal driving force for poverty reduction in contiguous destitute mountainous areas. This study selects 17 indicators from the four dimensions: industrial capacity, market capacity, spatial capacity and soft power to measure the overall self-development capacity of 658 counties in 14 different mountain areas in China. The results show that self-development capacity is at a low level and the development of the different regions is unbalanced. The self-development capacity is low in the southwest and high in the east and "low in the middle, high around" in each study region. It has achieved a certain degree of improvement in 2011, 2013 and 2015. From the perspective of the four dimensions, industrial capacity is the constraint on the promotion of self-development capacity. Based on this, we should develop green industries in line with local realities and achieve industrial poverty eradication, but the expansion of space capacity should take into account the resources and environmental carrying capacity in these areas and should not be blindly expanded. Local leaders should be made to improve the local education level and public service level, improve social infrastructure, develop reserve strength for the future, and enhance future development potential. 展开更多

The thesis underscores the significant role of human capital in elevating rural self-development ability.The investment of human capital is making great contribution to western rural economic growth,and it plays an irreplaceable role in promoting the socio-economic development prominently.The characteristics of human resources development in western rural areas for the moment are analyzed as follows:the employment structure is simple;the structure of human resources is irrational;the shortage of human resources aggregate is accompanied by the critical phenomenon of idling;the human resources drain badly;there is low input and low output of talents.The thesis also propounds the fundamental approaches in order to elevating self-development ability of western rural areas:we should practise and implement National Medium and Long-term Planning of Talents Development and lay down as soon as possible the detailed matching policies and measures based on the reality of western rural areas;we should develop the education in western rural areas vigorously,and formulate the developmental strategies of bridging"knowledge gap";we should establish sound rural human resources development system,and reinforce the degree of training returning-home migrant workers;we should adjust the structure of human investment timely as needed,and strengthen the degree of human capital investment conspicuously. 展开更多

(1913) and My A ntonia (1994). As rigid social connections and concepts restrict women's autonomy and freedom, they must transform themselves and the world in order to survive. In order to analyze pioneer women's process of self-growth in the special period, the author of this paper compares and contrasts the specific situation, and analyzes the characteristics of the protagonists in the above two novels. Through analysis, the authuor concludes that pioneer women always create a nurturing and gracious atmosphere in their household. Practically, these women successfully transmit the old civilization to the newly established homestead. 展开更多

This article offers an overview of natural environment,economic development,and social development in the Tibetan areas in Sichuan Province.The major manifestations of the status quo of poverty in the Tibetan areas are as follows:there is a wide range of poverty and a large poor population;the poverty degree is high and it is difficult to alleviate poverty;the natural disasters are frequent and the phenomenon of poverty arising from disasters is serious.We analyze the factors responsible for poverty of farmers and herdsmen in Sichuan Province as follows:first,the natural conditions are inclement and the ecological environment is fragile;second,the social attitudes are stale and the religious influence is deep;third,the development of education lags behind,the human capital inputs are short and the self-development capacity is weak;fourth,the state poverty alleviation and development policy is weakly directed at region;fifth,the Tibetan areas are facing the dilemma of choosing resources endowments or ecological protection.Following proposals are put forward to resolve the poverty issue in the Tibetan areas of Sichuan Province:strengthen infrastructure construction,and underpin self-development capacity of the Tibetan areas in Sichuan Province;reinforce organic connection of social security and poverty alleviation and development,and promote self-development capacity of impoverished farmers and herdsmen in the Tibetan areas;strengthen policy support,and improve self-development policy and mechanism of the Tibetan areas in Sichuan Province;drive the popularization of technology and culture in the Tibetan areas,and update the development concept of farmers and herdsmen in the Tibetan areas;accelerate the development of competitive industries in Tibetan areas,and promote economic development capacity of the Tibetan areas. 展开更多

This paper reports a case study of my self-development in applying Information Communication Technology (ICT) to teaching. I analyzed my own growth from three perspectives: technical confidence and competence, pedagogical development and self-efficacy. Classroom observation, interviews, reflective journals and questionnaires were used to explore how professional self-development occurred when I changed my teaching belief in teaching, and how I understood the development as a practicing teacher in learning by teaching. I participated in various projects based on action research in order to meet the challenges of the teaching reform in the new era. The results indicate that teachers can develop their informational quality and professional competence in applying ICT in teaching. 展开更多

This article explores the real life experience of international students’and the importance of study abroad for their personal and professional development.The empirical data drawn upon for this article came from the author’s master’s research,with field research conducted in the 2010/2011 academic year.It begins with the study focus and research objectives and reviews the relevant theoretical literature and the methodology adopted in the research.In the third section,data from interviews with 16 international students in Capital University(pseudonym,China)and Romance University(pseudonym,France)are analyzed following in chronological order the experiences of their sojourn in their host country.The final section of the article sums up the results of the research and points out the complexity of the question of international student mobility and different perspectives that can be adopted in seeking to understand and interpret this phenomenon. 展开更多
