Chinese materia medica(CMM) compatibility is one core content in the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM), and elaborating the scientific connotation of CMM compatibility is of great significance to promote the modernization of TCM. Self-assembly is the combination of active ingredients into aggregates through noncovalent bonds, such as hydrogen bonding, electrostatic interactions, ionic interactions, and hydrophobic interactions. The complex properties and special structures of CMM components create the basis for selfassembly. The self-assembled materials formed after CMM compatibility is an important part of the material basis for the efficacy of TCM, which can help explain the scientific connotations of CMM compatibility. This review summarizes the self-assembly phenomenon from the perspective of drug pair combinations in recent decades and explains the scientific connotation of CMM compatibility about the material basis, pharmacodynamic changes, and mechanism of action, providing new ideas and methods for the study of TCM. 展开更多

Construction of CS@APP@UiO-66 through self-assembly technology as flame retardant and smoke suppressant for epoxy resins

To achieve fire-resistant epoxy resin(EP),a UiO-66-based novel flame retardant coating(CS@APP@UiO-66)was prepared by modifying UiO-66 with chitosan(CS)and ammonium polyphosphate(APP)through a layer-by-layer(LbL)self-assembly method,which was then introduced into an EP system to improve its fire safety.The results of scanning electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy show that the unsaturated Zr atoms in the UiO-66 framework provide many active sites conducive to modification,so that the UiO-66 particles,which originally had a regular octahedral structure,are more dispersed by LbL modification without causing doping or distortion issues.The thermogravimetric analysis results indicate that the char residue of EP/2%UiO-66 is increased by 2.52%compared with that of pure EP,indicating that the thermal properties of the EP composite are improved after modification.In addition,the cone test results indicate that EP/2%UiO-66-5L has good flame retardancy and smoke suppression properties,and the peak heat release rate,total smoke production and rate of CO generation values are 25.2%,5.7%and 38.5%lower than those of the unmodified EP.Moreover,it can be concluded from the Raman test that the graphitization degree of the modified EP composite is strengthened.The above results indicated that after the incorporation of CS@APP@UiO-66 into the EP composites,more char layers formed as physical barriers to prevent the transfer of mass and heat,thus reducing the speed of flame propagation.Therefore,the flame resistance and smoke suppression of the EP composites improved.These favorable characteristics,including high flame retardant efficiency and good smoke suppression,make LbL-functionalized UiO-66 promising for flame retardant polymer applications. 展开更多

Terahertz biotechnology has been increasingly applied in various biomedical fields and has especially shown great potential for application in brain sciences.In this article,we review the development of terahertz biotechnology and its applications in the field of neuropsychiatry.Available evidence indicates promising prospects for the use of terahertz spectroscopy and terahertz imaging techniques in the diagnosis of amyloid disease,cerebrovascular disease,glioma,psychiatric disease,traumatic brain injury,and myelin deficit.In vitro and animal experiments have also demonstrated the potential therapeutic value of terahertz technology in some neuropsychiatric diseases.Although the precise underlying mechanism of the interactions between terahertz electromagnetic waves and the biosystem is not yet fully understood,the research progress in this field shows great potential for biomedical noninvasive diagnostic and therapeutic applications.However,the biosafety of terahertz radiation requires further exploration regarding its two-sided efficacy in practical applications.This review demonstrates that terahertz biotechnology has the potential to be a promising method in the field of neuropsychiatry based on its unique advantages. 展开更多

Subgrade engineering is a fundamental aspect of infrastructure construction in China.As the primary structural element responsible for bearing and distributing traffic loads,the subgrade must not only withstand the substantial pressures exerted by vehicles,trains,and other forms of transportation,but also efficiently transfer these loads to the underlying foundation,ensuring the stability and longevity of the roadway.In recent years,advancements in subgrade engineering technology have propelled the industry towards smarter,greener,and more sustainable practices,particularly in the areas of intelligent monitoring,disaster management,and innovative construction methods.This paper reviews the application and methodologies of intelligent testing equipment,including cone penetration testing(CPT)devices,soil resistivity testers,and intelligent rebound testers,in subgrade engineering.It examines the operating principles,advantages,limitations,and application ranges of these tools in subgrade testing.Additionally,the paper evaluates the practical use of advanced equipment from both domestic and international perspectives,addressing the challenges encountered by various instruments in realworld applications.These devices enable precise,comprehensive testing and evaluation of subgrade conditions at different stages,providing real-time data analysis and intelligent early warnings.This supports effective subgrade health management and maintenance.As intelligent technologies continue to evolve and integrate,these tools will increasingly enhance the accuracy,efficiency,and sustainability of subgrade monitoring. 展开更多

Recently,hollow carbon nanospheres(HCSs)have garnered significant attention as potential Li metal hosts owing to their unique large voids and ease of fabrication.However,similar to other nanoscale hosts,their practical performance is limited by inhomogeneous agglomeration,increased binder requirements,and high tortuosity within the electrode.To overcome these problems and high tortuosity within the electrode,this study introduces a pomegranate-like carbon microcluster composed of primary HCSs(P-CMs)as a novel Li metal host.This unique nanostructure can be easily prepared using the spray-drying technique,enabling its mass production.Comprehensive analyses with various tools demonstrate that compared with HCS hosts,the P-CM host requires a smaller amount of binder to fabricate a sufficiently robust and even surface electrode.Furthermore,owing to reduced tortuosity,the well-designed P-CM electrode can provide continuous and shortened pathways for electron/ion transport,accelerating the Li-ion transfer kinetics and prohibiting preferential Li plating at the upper region of the electrode.Due to these characteristics,Li metal can be effectively encapsulated in the large inner voids of the primary HCSs constituting the P-CM,thereby enhancing the electrochemical performance of P-CM hosts in Li metal batteries.Specifically,the Coulombic efficiency of the P-CM host can be maintained at 97%over 100 cycles,with a high Li deposition areal capacity of 3 mAh·cm^(-2)and long cycle life(1000 h,1 mA·cm^(-2),and 1.0 mAh·cm^(-2)).Furthermore,a full cell incorporating a LiFePO4 cathode exhibits excellent cycle life. 展开更多

Four glycoluril-based amphiphilic molecular clips(AMCs)M1~M4 have been prepared for intracellular delivery of short DNA.M1~M4 have two methyl groups on its convex surface and four cations on its aromatic side arm,which can be used to construct self-assembled nanoparticles in aqueous solution driven by hydrophobic interaction.Dynamic light scattering experiments show that M1 and M2 can be driven hydrophobically to aggregate into extremely stable nanoparticles in water at the micromolar concentrations.Fluorescence titration and zeta potential experiments support that the nanoparticles formed by M1 and M2 are able to efficiently encapsulate short DNA(sDNA).Fluorescence imaging and flow cytometry studies reveal that their nano sizes enable intracellular delivery of the encapsulated sDNA into both normal and cancer cells,with delivery percentage reaching up to 94%,while in vitro experiments indicate that the two compounds have excellent biocompatibility and low cytotoxicity. 展开更多

This study investigated the application and the application value of intelligent emergency in emergency management in the big data environment.It addresses the neglect of the application value(performance)measurement of intelligent emergency,further improving the effectiveness of intelligent emergency management.First,approximately 3,900 documents from the intelligent emergency field are analyzed to determine the future research trend in intelligent emergency management.The socio-technical theory concerning technical and social systems is introduced.The emergency management system concepts of“technology enabling”and“enabling value creation”are defined according to bibliometric analysis and socio-technical theory.Second,a research framework that includes technology enabling and enabling value creation for the decision-making paradigm in emergency management according to the big data environment is constructed.A detailed analysis approach from intelligent emergency technology enabling to enabling value creation in emergency management is proposed.Finally,earthquake disasters are taken as examples,and specific analyses of the intelligent emergency enabling and enabling value creation are explored;enabling value creation is discussed based on measurable indicators.The clear concept of emergency management system technology enabling and enabling value creation,as well as the detailed analysis approach from intelligent emergency technology enabling to enabling value creation,provide a theoretical bases for scholars and practitioners to evaluate the value(performance)of intelligent emergency for the first time. 展开更多

Surface engineering plays a crucial role in improving the performance of high energy materials,and polydopamine(PDA)is widely used in the field of energetic materials for surface modification and functionalization.In order to obtain high-quality HMX@PDA-based PBX explosives with high sphericity and a narrow particle size distribution,composite microspheres were prepared using co-axial droplet microfluidic technology.The formation mechanism,thermal behavior,mechanical sensitivity,electrostatic spark sensitivity,compressive strength,and combustion performance of the microspheres were investigated.The results show that PDA can effectively enhance the interfacial interaction between the explosive particles and the binder under the synergistic effect of chemical bonds and the physical"mechanical interlocking"structure.Interface reinforcement causes the thermal decomposition temperature of the sample microspheres to move to a higher temperature,with the sensitivity to impact,friction,and electrostatic sparks(for S-1)increasing by 12.5%,31.3%,and 81.5%respectively,and the compressive strength also increased by 30.7%,effectively enhancing the safety performance of the microspheres.Therefore,this study provides an effective and universal strategy for preparing high-quality functional explosives,and also provides some reference for the safe use of energetic materials in practical applications. 展开更多

High signal-to-noise ratio microwave signal generation based on SBS assisted optical heterodyne technology

In this work,the generation of high signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)single-frequency microwave signal without noise sidebands is demonstrated based on the interaction of integrated all-fiber lasers.The microwave signals are generated by the interference between a narrow linewidth Brillouin pump light from a single-frequency laser and the Stokes light generated by it.Firstly,the linewidths of the Stokes lights are compressed to~43 Hz based on the stimulated Brillouin scattering(SBS)effect,which ensures that the frequency noise is as low as possible.And then,the relative intensity noise(RIN)of the first order Stokes light is reduced by 21 dB/Hz based on the noise dynamics principle in cascaded SBS effect.By simultaneously reducing the frequency noise and the intensity noise of the coherent signals,the noise sidebands of microwave signals are completely suppressed.As result,the SNR of the microwave signal is improved from 48 dB to 84 dB at the first-order Brillouin frequency shift of 9.415 GHz.Meanwhile,a microwave signal with a SNR of 70 dB is generated at the second-order Brillouin frequency shift of 18.827 GHz.This kind of microwave signals with narrow linewidth and high SNR can provide higher detection resolution and higher transmission efficiency for applications on radar,satellite communication and so on. 展开更多

Nowadays,high-stable and ultrasensitive heavy metal detection is of utmost importance in water quality monitoring.Nanoparticle-enhanced laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(NELIBS)shows high potential in hazardous metal detection,however,encounters unstable and weak signals due to nonuniform distribution of analytes.Herein,we developed an interface self-assembly(ISA)method to create a uniformly distributed gold nanolayer at a liquid-liquid interface for positive heavy metal ions capture and NELIBS analysis.The electrostatically selfassembled Au nanoparticles(NPs)-analytes membrane was prepared at the oil-water interface by injecting ethanol into the mixture of cyclohexane and Au NPs-analytes water solution.Then,the interface self-assembled Au NPs-analytes membrane was transformed onto a laser-processed superhydrophilic Si slide for detection.Three heavy metals(cadmium(Cd),barium(Ba),and chromium(Cr))were analyzed to evaluate the stability and sensitivity of the ISA method for NELIBS.The results(Cd:RSD=3.6%,LoD=0.654 mg/L;Ba:RSD=3.4%,LoD=0.236 mg/L;Cr:RSD=7.7%,LoD=1.367 mg/L)demonstrated signal enhancement and high-stable and ultrasensitive detection.The actual sample detection(Cd:RE=7.71%,Ba:RE=6.78%)illustrated great reliability.The ISA method,creating a uniform distribution of NP-analytes at the interface,has promising prospects in NELIBS. 展开更多

Special Purpose Rice (SPR) is a technology that consists of different rice varieties that were developed by Central Luzon State University. The unique varietal characteristics of SPR are pigmented, glutinous, good-yielding varieties planted in lowland areas. This study was conducted to increase farmers’ income through employing different promotion and extension activities and enterprise development. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Cost and return and benefit-cost analysis were used to determine the financial benefits of using the SPR in different production systems. Results revealed that incorporating the following parameters is critical in the sustainable adoption of the SPR. Amongst them are: ensuring that recommended production technologies are strictly followed by the farmers, ensuring the quality of seeds for planting, the presence of a market for the produce, engaging the farmers in value-adding activities like processing, capability development in entrepreneurship, and adopting clustering approach of the farmers to address economies of scale in marketing and processing. The use of SPR produced an average yield of 6.11 MT/ha and 5.04 MT/ha during the dry and wet seasons from 2021-2023, respectively, higher than the usual varieties of inbred rice. The net benefit from producing a CLS-2 variety of SPR is higher than regular rice, having an average difference of Php 22,355.53 per hectare from 2021-2023. 展开更多

Lactic acid bacteria and the fermentation environment interact to form an intertwined system.Lactic acid bacteria are constantly evolving to adapt to different fermentation environments,causing changes in their physiological processes.To achieve a targeted improvement of their adaptability to various environments,a detail analysis of their evolutionary physiological processes is required.While several studies have been carried out in the past by using single-omics techniques to investigate their response to environmental stress,most researchers are now using a multi-omics approach to explore more detail in the biological regulatory networks and molecular mechanisms of lactic acid bacteria in response to environmental stress,thereby overcoming the limitations of single-omics analysis.In this review,we describe the various single-omics approaches that have been used to study environmental stress in lactic acid bacteria,present the advantages of various multi-omics combined analysis approaches,and discuss the potential and practicality of applying emerging single-cell transcriptomics and single-cell metabolomics techniques to the molecular mechanism study of microbes response to environmental stress.Multi-omics approaches enable the accurate identification of complex microbial physiological processes in different environments,allow people to comprehensively reveal the molecular mechanisms of microbes response to stress from different perspectives.Single-cell omics techniques,analyze the targeted regulation of microbial functions in a multi-dimensional space,provides a new perspective on understanding microbes responses environment stress. 展开更多

Diphenylalanine and its analogs cause many concerns owing to their perfect self-assembly properties in the fields of biology,medicine,and nanotechnology.Experimental research has shown that diphenylalanine-based analogs with ethylenediamine linkers(PA,P=phenylalanine,and A=analog)can self-assemble into spherical assemblies,which can serve as novel anticancer drug carriers.In this work,to understand the assembly pathways,drug loading behavior,and formation mechanism of PA aggregates at the molecular level,we carried out dissipative particle dynamics(DPD)simulations of PA molecule systems.Our simulation results demonstrate that PA molecules spontaneously assemble into nanospheres and can self-assemble into drug-loaded nanospheres upon addition of the cancer chemotherapeutic agent doxorubicin(DOX).We also found that the hydrophobic side chain beads of PA molecules exhibited a unique onion-like distribution inside the nanospheres,which was not observed in the experiment.The onion-like nanospheres were verified by calculating the radial distribution function(RDF)of the DPD beads.Furthermore,based on the analysis of the percentages of different interaction components in the total nonbonded energies,main chain-side chain interactions between PA molecules may be important in the formation of onion-like nanospheres,and the synergistic effects of main chain-side chain,main chain-drug,side chain-drug,and main chain-solvent interactions are significant in the formation of drug-loaded nanospheres.These findings provide new insights into the structure and self-assembly pathway of PA assemblies,which may be helpful for the design of efficient and effective drug delivery systems. 展开更多

The potential of metal nanoclusters in biomedical applications is limited due to aggregation-caused quenching(ACQ).In this study,an in situ self-assembled pitaya structure was proposed to obtain stable fluorescence emission through protein coronas-controlled distance between gold nanoclusters(Au NCs).Interestingly,the gold ion complexes coated with proteins of low isoelectric point(pI)nucleate at the secondary structure of proteins with high p I through ionic exchange within cells,generating fluorescent Au NCs.It is worth noting that due to the steric hindrance formed by the protein coronas on the surface of Au NCs,the distance between Au NCs can be controlled,avoiding electron transfer caused by close proximity of Au NCs and inhibiting fluorescence ACQ.This strategy can achieve fluorescence imaging of clinical tissue samples without observable side effects.Therefore,this study proposes a distance-controllable self-assembled pitaya structure to provide a new approach for Au NCs with stable fluorescence. 展开更多
