Due to the diversity of reservoirs and the extreme heterogeneity of reef-banks, it is very difficult to discriminate the sedimentary facies and lithologies in reef-bank reservoirs using conventional well logs. The borehole image log provides clear identification of sedimentary structures and textures and is an ideal tool for discriminating sedimentary facies and lithologies. After examining a large number of borehole images and cores, we propose nine typical patterns for borehole image interpretation and a method that uses these patterns to discriminate sedimentary facies and lithologies in reeI^bank reservoirs automatically. We also develop software with user-friendly interface. The results of applications in reef-bank reservoirs in the middle Tarim Basin and northeast Sichuan have proved that the proposed method and the corresponding software are quite effective.展开更多

The deposition history of study area around the hole before and after the glacial period as well as postglacial period is made clear after our research: (1) the estuarine sublayer -undersea delta facies strata was deposited under the fast sea level rise about 15 kaB.P; (2) sand ridges mostly consisting of fine-sand, were formed when the sea level was the fluctuant range of 60 - 80 m of isoba during the deglacial period around 15 - 12 kaB.P; (3) first silty clay and clay silt strata above the sand ridges were deposited during the period when the sea level rose fast from 12 to 7 kaB.P, and then it keeps stable to the present.展开更多

The results of grain size analysis, diatom analysis and detrital mineral analysis were well matched. We divided the core D into two layers. The surface sand layer (0 - 2 cm) consisted of residual sediments, which might be originally the sediment in the late Pleistocene and later suffered from being transformed in the post glacial transgression. The lower layer (2 - 130 cm) was quite different from the surface one, which might mainly result from a neritic sedimentary environment in the last glacial stage. Two sedimentary cycles could be detected in the core D: regression during Marine isotope stage (MIS) 4 to transgression during MIS 3 and regression during MIS 2 to transgression during the post glacial.展开更多

The East China Sea is a typical broad continental shelf with abundant sediment supply from large rivers. Here, a variety of sedimentary records were formed during the Holocene period. The sedimentary systems associated with these records have unique charac- teristics in terms of spatial distribution, material composition, deposition rate and the timing of deposition, which are related to active sediment transport processes induced by tides and waves, shelf circulations and sediment gravity flows. The sedimentary records thus formed are high resolution slices, i.e., each record has a temporal resolution of up to 10^-10-1 a, but only covers a limited part of the Holocene time. In terms of the spatial distribution, these records are scattered over a large area on the shelf. Further studies of these systems are required to understand the underlying process-product relationships. In particular, the mid- Holocene coastal deposits on the Jiangsu coast, the early to middle Holocene sequences of the Hangzhou Bay, as well as the Holocene mud deposits off the Zhejiang-Fujian coasts, should be investigated in terms of the material supply (from both seabed reworking during the sea level rise event and river discharges), transport-accumulation processes, the sediment sequences and the future evolution of the sedimentary systems. Advanced numerical modeling techniques should be developed to meet the needs of these studies.展开更多

This relatively rare sedimentary phenomenon has not been well interpreted. Here we addressed this issue by discussing sedimentary framework and conceptual model. Analysis of sedimentary setting implied that the basin received transgression during the deposition. It had multiple provenance supplies and river networks, as being surrounded by old- lands in multiple directions including the north, east and south. Thus, the basin was generally charac-terized by coastal and widely open and shallow lacustrine deposition during the Late Triassic Xujiahe period. This is similar to the modern well-known Poyang (鄱阳) Lake. Therefore, we investigated the framework and conceptual model of the Sichuan Basin during the Xujiahe period with an analogue to the Poyang Lake. Results show that the conceptual model of the deposition can be divided into transgressive and regressive stages. The first, third and fifth mem- bers of the formation are in transgressive stage and the deposits are dominated by shore and shallow lacustrine mud. In contrast, the deposition is mainly of braided river channel sand deposits during the regressive stage, mainly including the second, fourth and sixth members of the formation. The sand deposited in almost the entire basin because of the lateral migration and forward moving of the cross networks of the braided rivers. The multiple alternations of short and rapid transgression and relatively long regression are beneficial to the basin-scale sand deposition. Thus, the main channel of the braided river and its extensional areas are favorable for the development of hydrocarbon reservoir. This provides practical significance to the reservoir evaluation and exploration. In addition, the results also justify the relatively distinctive sedimentary phenomenon in the study area and may also have im- plications for understanding the large-scale sand deposition elsewhere.展开更多

Meanwhi...The uplift is a positive structural unit of the crust. It is an important window for continental dynamics owing to its abundant structural phenomena, such as fault, fold, unconformity and denudation of strata. Meanwhile, it is the very place to store important minerals like oil, natural gas, coal and uranium. Giant and large-scale oil and gas fields in China, such as the Daqing Oilfield, Lunnan-Tahe Oilfield, Penglai 19-3 Oilfield, Puguang Gas Field and Jingbian Gas Field, are developed mainly on uplifts. Therefore, it is the main target both for oil and gas exploration and for geological study. The uplift can be either a basement uplift, or one developed only in the sedimentary cover. Extension, compression and wrench or their combined forces may give rise to uplifts. The development process of uplifting, such as formation, development, dwindling and destruction, can be taken as the uplifting cycle. The uplifts on the giant Precambrian cratons are large in scale with less extensive structural deformation. The uplifts on the medium- and small-sized cratons or neo-cratons are formed in various shapes with strong structural deformation and complicated geological structure. Owing to changes in the geodynamic environment, uplift experiences a multi-stage or multi-cycle development process. Its geological structure is characterized in superposition of multi-structural layers. Based on the basement properties, mechanical stratigraphy and development sequence, uplifts can be divided into three basic types-the succession, superposition and destruction ones. The succession type is subdivided into the maintaining type and the lasting type. The superposition type can be subdivided into the composite anticlinal type, the buried-hill draped type, the faulted uplift type and the migration type according to the different scales and superimposed styles of uplifts in different cycles. The destruction type is subdivided into the tilting type and the negative inverted type. The development history of uplifts and their controlling effects on sedimentation and fluids are quite different from one another, although the uplifts with different structural types store important minerals. Uplifts and their slopes are the main areas for oil and gas accumulation. They usually become the composite oil and gas accumulation zones (belts) with multiple productive formations and various types of oil and gas reservoirs.展开更多

文摘Large basins are currently the global focus for geothermal development, with their hydrothermal system being controlled by a variety of factors, such as basement relief and fracture development.Donglihu is located at the north of the Cangxian uplift in the North China Basin, the concentrated geothermal resource development zone in North China. This study systematically collects temperature logging data and long-term dynamic monitoring of water level and water quality as well as group well tracer test data carried out in this area in recent years,on the basis of which the hydrothermal controlling role of the deep hidden faults is systematically analyzed. The results show that the Cangdong fault communicates with different geothermal reservoirs in the shallow part and plays a specific role in the water-heat channel of the local area.As a result, the high-value area of the geothermal temperature gradient in the sedimentary layer of the Donglihu area is distributed around the Cangdong fault. The geothermal reservoir temperature of the Minghuazhen Formation within the influence of the fault is also significantly higher than the regional average, the hydraulic head of different geothermal reservoirs showing a consistent and synergistic trend. However, the water quality has been stable for many years without any apparent changes. This understanding has a particular significance for further deepening understanding of the geothermal genesis mechanism in sedimentary basins and guiding future geothermal exploration and development in the Donglihu area.

文摘The study of sequence stratigraphy often focuses on shallow marine and shelf-edge regions, while research on deep-sea stratigraphic sequences remains relatively weak. This study, based on highresolution 3D seismic data and drilling information, utilized sequence stratigraphy and seismic sedimentology as guidelines, and employed seismic interpretation methods to performed a division of deepsea stratigraphic sequences within the Romney 3D seismic survey area in the deep-water Taranaki Basin,New Zealand.Furthermore,it analyzed the characteristics of typical depositional systems and their associated controlling factors. The findings are as follows:(1)Based on seismic reflection termination relationships and seismic facies characteristics, four second-order sequence boundaries and nine thirdorder sequence boundaries were identified, resulting in the delineation of three second-order sequences and twelve third-order sequences in the basin.(2)Five seismic facies were recognized, corresponding to five typical sedimentary bodies:mass transport deposits(MTDs),deep-water channel, levee deposits, deltaic deposits, and pelagic deposits. However, due to the relatively thin sedimentary thickness of carbonate sediments, the seismic facies characteristics of carbonate sediments cannot be discerned in seismic data, but can be identified based on well data.Deltaic sediments mainly developed during the rift stage of the basin, while carbonate sediments formed during the transition from a passive to an active margin.Deep-water channel and levee deposits and MTDs emerged during the active margin stage, while pelagic deposits are ubiquitous in marine environments.(3)The uplift of New Zealand's interior and climate-driven erosion caused the resurgence of clastic sediments, which began to be transported to the deep sea,the seafloor topography would directly affect the movement path of sediment gravity flow, and sediment supply can affect the development and evolution of sedimentary systems.(4)Event deposits boundaries, such as erosional scour surfaces formed by channels and unconformities created by MTDs,can serve as boundaries for the division of deep-water stratigraphic sequences. This study proposes a method for delineating deep-water stratigraphic sequences using event deposits, particularly suitable under conditions where the influence of relative sea-level changes on deep-water deposits is relatively weak. This research not only enhances the understanding of deep-water depositional sequences but also provides a reference for studies on the evolution of deep-water deposition and its controlling factors in research areas with similar geological backgrounds worldwide.

文摘The relationship between marine transgression and the distribution of lacustrine organic matter has restricted shale oil and gas exploration for decades. In this study, the research objective is to analyze the sedimentary environment and evaluate its influence on organic matter in transgressive lacustrine shale. The study uses various analyses including total organic carbon(TOC),Rock-Eval pyrolysis, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS),trace element and isotope analysis. Finally, the study proposes an enrichment model for organic matter. The lacustrine shale of the second member of the Funing Formation(E_(1)f^(2))is divided into three sequences. The results indicate that the depositional environment of the organic matter during this period was an arid and humid, reduced, closed, rift lake basin. In the first sequence, high salinity resulted from increased evaporation, leading to low primary biological productivity. At this time, the lake basin belonged to a salinized closed lake basin.Intermittent transgressions began in the second sequence, with the deep lake area still being dominated by a reducing environment. The third sequence saw the environment evolve into a closed lake basin characterized by a warm and humid freshwater environment with high primary productivity.Marine transgressions introduce a substantial amount of marine plankton, nutrient elements,as well as more CO_(2) and CO_(3)^(2−)into the lake, leading to increased primary productivity. The sedimentary model for transgressive lacustrine source rocks proposed here serves as an example for similar transgressive lake basins.

文摘Continental crust is the long-term achievements of Earth's evolution across billions of years. The continental rocks could have been modified by various types of geological processes, such as metamorphism, weathering, and reworking. Therefore, physical or chemical properties of rocks through time record the composite effects of geological, biological, hydrological, and climatological processes.Temporal variations in these time series datasets could provide important clues for understanding the co-evolution of different layers on Earth. However, deciphering Earth's evolution in deep time is challenged by incompleteness, singularity, and intermittence of geological records associated with extreme geological events, hindering a rigorous assessment of the underlying coupling mechanisms. Here,we applied the recently developed local singularity analysis and wavelet analysis method to deep-time U-Pb age spectra and sedimentary abundance record across the past 3.5 Gyrs.Standard cross-correlation analysis suggests that the singularity records of marine sediment accumulations and magmatism intensity at continental margin are correlated negatively(R^(2)=0.8),with a delay of~100 Myr.Specifically, wavelet coherence analysis suggests a~500-800 Myr cycle of correlation between two records, implying a coupling between the major downward processes(subduction and recycling sediments)and upward processes(magmatic events)related to the aggregation and segregation of supercontinents. The results clearly reveal the long-term cyclic feedback mechanism between sediment accumulation and magmatism intensity through aggregation of supercontinents.

文摘The Cambrian Qiongzhusi Formation in the Sichuan Basin harbors significant potential for shale gas harvesting. However, systematic disparities in mineral composition and reservoir architecture have been observed between intra-and extra-trough reservoirs within the Deyang-Anyue Rift Trough. These variations were primarily determined by divergences in the sedimentary environments developed during the evolution of the rift trough, which were a main factor in fostering the heterogeneous distribution of shale gas enrichment found today. However, the genetic mechanisms that govern reservoir heterogeneity across distinct structural domains(intra-trough,trough margin, and extra-trough)remain poorly understood, particularly regarding the coupling relationships between depositional environments, reservoir characteristics, and gas-bearing properties. This study adopts a multidisciplinary approach to investigating this issue that integrates core analysis,well-log interpretations, and geochemical data.Through systematic comparisons conducted using X-ray diffraction mineralogy, organic carbon quantification, and spontaneous imbibition experiments,we characterize the mineral assemblages, organic geochemical signatures, and pore structures found across the three structural domains of the Deyang-Anyue Rift Trough. The key findings are as follows:(1)The depositional environment is the main influence on reservoir distribution and organic matter enrichment, with intra-trough shales exhibiting a higher abundance of organic matter than their trough-margin and extra-trough counterparts.(2)Enhanced brittleness in intra-trough zones correlates with the predominance of biogenic silica therein.(3)Synergistic organic-inorganic interactions govern pore system development.(4)Gas-bearing capacity is jointly determined by effective porosity and organic matter content. These findings establish the rift trough as a preferential exploration target, providing critical geological guidance for optimizing shale gas exploration strategies in the Cambrian Qiongzhusi Formation.

文摘Cone penetration testing(CPT)and its variant with pore pressure measurements(CPTu)are versatile tools that have been traditionally used for in situ geotechnical site investigations. These investigations are among the most challenging yet indispensable tasks, providing a crucial reference for infrastructure planning, design and construction. However, data obtained through the CPT/CPTu testing often exhibit significant variability, even at closely spaced test points. This variability is primarily attributed to the complex mineral compositions and sedimentary process of the Quaternary sediments.Problems induced by the scattering data include the difficulties in estimating the shear strength of the sediments and determining the appropriate bearing stratum for pile foundations. In this paper, the conventional interpretation methods of the CPT/CPTu data are enhanced with sedimentary facies knowledge. The geotechnical investigation mainly involves 42 CPTu tests(39 essential data sets available)and 4 boring samples.Sediment types are interpreted from the CPTu data and calibrated by the nearby boring samples.Sedimentary facies are derived from the interpreted sequence stratigraphy, for which the interpretation skills are summarized in the form of characteristic curves of the CPTu data.Scattering distribution of the sediment types and their mechanical parameters are well explained by the sedimentary facies. The sediments are then categorized into a few groups by their sedimentary facies, resulting in reduced uncertainties and scattering in terms of shear strength.Bearing stratum of pile foundations is also suggested based on the sedimentary regulations.

文摘The Central Yunnan Basin(CYB)that tectonically located on the southwest margin of the Yangtze Block and to the eastern segment of the Paleo-Tethys tectonic domain,is a typical‘red bed'sedimentary basin formed since Late Triassic. The CYB is composed of mega-thick fluvial and lacustrine facies successions. However, the tectonic evolution and sedimentary provenance studies on this basin are scarce. In this study,we report new detrital zircon ages of four sandstones from the Lower Jurassic Fengjiahe Formation(FJF),including four major clusters of 2060-1810,870-760,485-430,and 280-254 Ma,with sporadic Archean,Cambrian, and Triassic ages.We interpret that the Archaean and Proterozoic zircons were mainly derived from the western Yangtze Block, which may recycle from the Jiangnan Orogen, the Cathaysia Block and the Proterozoic igneous rocks.Ordovician and Silurian zircons were probably from the Ailaoshan orogenic belt, and the Lancang Group in western Yunnan,as well as the Yangtze,Cathaysia and Indosinian blocks.Permian zircons probably came from the Ailaoshan orogenic belt and the Emeishan basalt. The youngest zircon age of~212.9 Ma indicates that the depositional age of the FJF is younger than the Norian stage. We also proposed a geodynamic model of the CYB and the Ailaoshan orogenic belt during the Mesozoic. The Simao Block to the west of the CYB constituted the Ailaoshan orogenic belt and collaged with the Yangtze Block during the Early Triassic, provided sedimentary provenance to the CYB.The Changning-Menglian zone that composed of the Baoshan and the Simao Blocks, uplifted in the Late Triassic and provided provenance to the CYB.Collapse of the Ailaoshan orogenic belt in Late Triassic probably provided channel for source materials that transported from the Lincang granites to the CYB.We propose a transtensional tectonic setting of the central Yunnan during the Early Jurassic, after a short collision during the Indosinian Movement in the Late Triassic.

文摘Since the Paleozoic, the tectonic evolution of northeastern Eurasia has been primarily influenced by the Paleo-Asian Ocean and the Paleo-Pacific tectonic domains. However, the spatial and temporal frameworks,as well as the timing of the tectonic transition between these two oceanic domains, remain unclear. For addressing these issues,we present petrological, geochronological, and geochemical data for andesite and sandstone samples from the Seluohe Group along the Jilin-Yanji Suture between the Jiamusi-Khanka Block and the North China Craton. The geochemical results indicate that the andesite sample is high-Mg andesite. Its magma source was generated by the metasomatized mantle wedge influenced by fluids derived from the subducted slab in a continental island arc setting. The high-Mg andesite gives the crystallization ages of Early Triassic(249±3 Ma).The sandstone is immature greywacke with a maximum depositional age of Early Triassic(247±1 Ma),and its sediments primarily originate from concurrent magmatic rocks within a juvenile continental arc.Based on our new findings,we propose that the Seluohe Group represents an Early Triassic volcanic-sedimentary association with continental island arc characteristics associated with the southwestward subduction of the Heilongjiang Ocean. We identified a sedimentary basin intimately associated with one or more continental arcs along the northeastern edge of the North China Craton. We suggest that the southwestward subduction of the Jilin-Heilongjiang Ocean in the Early Mesozoic accounts for this continental arc setting. There is a distinct temporal gap between the closure of the Paleo-Asian Ocean(ca.260 Ma)and the onset of Paleo-Pacific plate subduction(234–220 Ma),which is essentially coeval with the southwestward subduction of the Jilin-Heilongjiang Ocean between 255 Ma and 239 Ma.

文摘Due to the lack of the three-dimensional structure of the Zhaoji Salt Basin, the salt mining enterprises have obvious clustering when choosing sites.Production capacity declines rapidly as mining deepens, and the enterprises are entering a stage of stagnation in production. In this study,a dense seismic array of 125 short-period stations was deployed around the core mining area and its vicinity of the salt mine industry,we used the ambient noise tomography(ANT)method to image the three-dimensional shear wave velocity structure at the depth shallower than 3 km.The results indicate:(1)The overall shear wave velocity in the study area is relatively lower, ranging from 0.8 to 1.8 km/s,which could be related to the loose and thick deposition of the Zhaoji sub-depression.(2)The three-dimensional shear wave velocity structure reveals that the sedimentary thickness of the Zhaoji sub-depression is deeper in the southeast and shallower in the northwest, with the sedimentary center located around Heping Town and Dahuangzhuang Town.(3)The Zhaoji salt mine is a low-velocity anomalous zone in the shear wave velocity structure with an inverse‘C'character spreading along Nanchenji Town and Zhaoji Town, with a depth ranging from approximately 1.2 to 2.8 km,it may be caused by the development of rock fissures due to water extraction and injection. The surrounding rock exhibits relatively high velocity, which reflects the morphological characteristics of the Zhaoji Salt Basin. The three-dimensional shear wave velocity model obtained in this study provides scientific guidance for the industrial exploitation of the Zhaoji salt mine and reference for salt exploration of the Hongze Salt Basin. It also provides an important basis for the seismic risk assessment of the salt basins.Simultaneously,it holds significant implications for exploring the application of ambient noise tomography method in spatial detection of salt mine belt.

文摘Rare earth elements were extracted using a sulfuric acid roasting-water leaching process. The effect of acid roasting on a new type of low-grade sedimentary rare earth ore found in Guizhou Province,China was analyzed using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy.A systematic study was conducted on process parameters such as amount of acid, roasting temperature, roasting time, water leaching temperature, and leaching time. The results reveal that the total recove ry of rare earth elements reaches 81.37%,which is 3.1 times higher than that achieved through direct acid leaching, under the optimal conditions. In addition, the leaching rate of heavy rare earth elements reaches 72.53%.Rare earth elements and some other valuable metals are transformed into soluble sulfate through the local decomposition of clay minerals under the action of the sulfuric acid attack. The dissolution rates of aluminum, iron, and titanium ions are 34.94%,17.05%,and 62.77%,respectively.The precipitation rate of Ti reaches 99%,and the loss of rare earth ions in the solution is less than 1%.Meanwhile,the results of a leaching kinetics analysis indicate that the leaching process of rare ions is controlled by diffusion.Precious metal ions such as iron and aluminum in the leaching solution can reduce the adsorption of rare earth ions by kaolinite. This study efficiently recovered rare earth ions under conditions of low calcination te mperature and direct water leaching, resulting in reduced energy consumption of the extraction process and acidity of the leaching solution. These findings provide a solid foundation for the further separation and extraction of rare earth ions.

文摘Sandy braided river deposits are widely preserved in ancient stratigraphic records and act as a significant type of hydrocarbon reservoir.Due to the frequent and rapid migration of channels within the riverbed, the sedimentary architecture is highly complex. In this paper,a flume experiment was conducted to reveal the detailed depositional process and establish a fine sedimentary architecture model for sandy braided rivers. The result showed that(1)Three types of braid channels, including the lateral migration channel, the confluence channel, and the deep incised channel, were recognized based on geometry, scale, distribution, and spatial patterns;they are interconnected, forming a complex channel network.(2)Braid channels were characterized by lateral migration, abandonment, filling, and chute cutoff.Lateral migration of channels shaped the braid bars and dominated the formation, growth, and reworking of braid bars.(3)Controlled by the fast and frequent variations of the braid channel network, braid bars were continuously formed, reworked, reshaped, and composited of multiple accretions with different types, orientations, scales, and preservation degrees.Symmetrical and asymmetrical braid bars pre-sented significantly different composition patterns.(4)Dominated by the continuous reworking of braid channels, temporary deposits were limited preserved, braid channel deposits account for 54.3 percent of the eventually preserved braided river deposits, and four types of amalgamate patterns were recognized.Braid bars were cut and limited preserved, only accounting for 45.7 percent of the eventually preserved braided river deposits.(5)During the experiment, only 28 percent of near-surface temporary deposits were eventually preserved in fragmented forms with the final experimental braided river;the shape, spatial patterns, and most of the deposits observed during the depositional process were largely reworked and poorly preserved.(6)The scale of eventually preserved braid bars and braid channels is significantly smaller than the temporary deposits from geomorphic observations. The aspect ratio of the eventually preserved braid bars and the width-to-depth ratio of the eventually preserved braid channel are also significantly different from that of the temporary ones measured from topography data.

文摘Reef-bank reservoirs are an important target for petroleum exploration in marine carbonates and also an essential supplemental area for oil and gas production in China. The results of applications in reef-bank reservoirs in the middle Tarim Basin and northeast Sichuan have proved that the proposed method and the corresponding software are quite effective.
文摘Abstract: Based on the analysis of core samples from the hole of Zk23 in the East China Sea Continental Shelf and by means of sedimentary stratigraphy, biostratigraphy and chronostratigraphy, the authors consider that the fine-sand deposition in borehole was part of buried ancient estuary sand ridges of the Yangtze River. The deposition history of study area around the hole before and after the glacial period as well as postglacial period is made clear after our research: (1) the estuarine sublayer -undersea delta facies strata was deposited under the fast sea level rise about 15 kaB.P; (2) sand ridges mostly consisting of fine-sand, were formed when the sea level was the fluctuant range of 60 - 80 m of isoba during the deglacial period around 15 - 12 kaB.P; (3) first silty clay and clay silt strata above the sand ridges were deposited during the period when the sea level rose fast from 12 to 7 kaB.P, and then it keeps stable to the present.
文摘Core D (21°23′02″N, 116°47′13″E, water depth 405 m) was sampled from the upper slope from the northeastern South China Sea (SCS) and applied to analyze the sedimentary environmental change in this sea area since the last glacial stage. Two sedimentary cycles could be detected in the core D: regression during Marine isotope stage (MIS) 4 to transgression during MIS 3 and regression during MIS 2 to transgression during the post glacial.

文摘The Upper Triassic flysch sediments(Nieru Formation and Langjiexue Group)exposed in the Eastern Tethyan Himalayan Sequence are crucial for unraveling the controversial paleogeography and paleotectonics of the Himalayan orogen. This work reports new detrital zircon U-Pb ages and whole-rock geochemical data for clastic rocks from flysch strata in the Shannan area. The mineral modal composition data suggest that these units were mainly sourced from recycled orogen provenances. The chemical compositions of the sandstones in the strata are similar to the chemical composition of upper continental crust. These rocks have relatively low Chemical Index of Alteration values(with an average of 62)and Index of Compositional Variability values(0.69),indicating that they experienced weak weathering and were mainly derived from a mature source. The geochemical compositions of the Upper Triassic strata are similar to those of graywackes from continental island arcs and are indicative of an acidicintermediate igneous source.Furthermore, hornblende and feldspar experienced decomposition in the provenance, and the sediment became enriched in zircon and monazite during sediment transport. The detrital zircons in the strata feature two main age peaks at 225-275 Ma and 500-600 Ma,nearly continuous Paleoproterozoic to Neoproterozoic ages, and a broad inconspicuous cluster in the Tonian-Stenian(800-1200 Ma).The detrital zircons from the Upper Triassic sandstones in the study area lack peaks at 300-325 Ma(characteristic of the Lhasa block)and 1150-1200 Ma(characteristic of the Lhasa and West Australia blocks). Therefore, neither the Lhasa block nor the West Australia blocks likely acted as the main provenance of the Upper Triassic strata.Newly discovered Permian-Triassic basalt and mafic dikes in the Himalayas could have provided the 225-275 Ma detrital zircons. Therefore,Indian and Himalayan units were the main provenances of the flysch strata. The Tethyan Himalaya was part of the northern passive margin and was not an exotic terrane separated from India during the Permian to Early Cretaceous. This evidence suggests that the Neo-Tethyan ocean opened prior to the Late Triassic and that the Upper Triassic deposits were derived from continental crustal fragments adjacent to the northern passive continental margin of Greater India.

文摘The fate of the terrestrial sediment supplied by rivers is a critical issue for understanding the patterns of Holocene environmental change on continental shelves. Advanced numerical modeling techniques should be developed to meet the needs of these studies.

文摘Petroleum is produced from a beach-bar sand reservoir in the upper subsection of the 4th member of the Paleogene Shahejie Formation (Es4s) in the eastern Dongying Depression, penetrated by many wells in the Guangli-Qingnan area and this subsection still has further exploration potential.Using drilling and logging data,we analyzed the sand body types, emphasizing the sedimentary characteristics of the beach-bar sand bodies.Combining these data with the concepts of lacustrine and oceanic hydrodynamics,we explain the formation and distribution of the beach-bar sands in the eastern Dongying Depression. The connectivity between beach-bar sand bodies within each individual hydrodynamic zone is better than that between sand bodies in any two adjacent zones. The tempestite sand bodies developed in this area are characterized by typical storm deposits and are located at the bottoms of the beachbar sand bodies. They grade upward to normal shore and shallow-lacustrine beaches and bars.We also propose a new simple method to estimate the paleo-water depth using the thicknesses of the bar sand bodies in parasequences combined with the principle of hydrodynamic zonation.Based on the distribution of the beach-bar sands in parasequence set 3,we infer that the paleo-wind direction was from the north with an average paleo-wind force of 6 when the major beach-bar sand bodies formed.

文摘The Upper Triassic Xujiahe (须家河) Formation in the Sichuan (四川) Basin, Southwest China is distinctive for the basin-scale sand deposition. In addition, the results also justify the relatively distinctive sedimentary phenomenon in the study area and may also have im- plications for understanding the large-scale sand deposition elsewhere.

文摘The uplift is a positive structural unit of the crust. They usually become the composite oil and gas accumulation zones (belts) with multiple productive formations and various types of oil and gas reservoirs.
