In order to handle the huge amounts of data transmitted through hot spots and to increase cell coverage in buildings, this paper proposes a sectored cellular network with small cells (SCNSC) embedded in each sector. Two region types, sectors and variable-radius small cells are classified in an SCNSC macro cell. Because the system capacity is enhanced by using fractional frequency reuse (FFR), the overall channel bandwidth is divided into two or three frequency bands depending on whether the number of sectors in a macro cell is even or odd. For the purpose of topological evaluation on the proposed SCNSC, we build an analytical model using Markov chain theory. The performance measures include new-call blocking and handoff-call dropping probabilities, average waiting times, and normalized throughputs in each sector and its embedded small cell by varying mobile stations’ moving speeds, the number of sectors, and the radius size of an embedded small cell. From the evaluation results, it is demonstrated that adjusting either the number of sectors or the coverage of an embedded cell can satisfy different service demands. 展开更多

The deployment of Relay Nodes (RNs) in 4G LTE-A networks, mainly originating from the wireless backhaul link, provides an excellent network planning tool to enhance system performance. Better coordination between the base station and relays to mitigate inter-cell interference becomes an important aspect of achieving the required system performance, not only in the single-cell scenario, but also in multi-cell scenarios. In this paper, we model and analyze two basic approaches for designing a 4G LTE-A tri-sectored cellular system. The approaches are based on Antenna Selection Sectored Relaying (ASSR) and Beam Selection Sectored Relaying (BSSR). The main purpose of the proposed schemes is to enhance system performance by improving the quality of the wireless relay backhaul link. In this technique, antenna selection takes into consideration Non-Line-Of-Sight (NLOS) communication, whereas BSSR considers the case of Line-Of-Sight (LOS) communication using heuristic beam forming approach. The resource allocation problem has also been investigated for relay based cooperative LTE-A trisectored cell in the downlink. The best possible location for relay node in the sector, power allocation and MIMO channel modeling is formulated as an optimization problem with the aim of maximizing the end to end link rate and the Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR) of 4G LTE-A systems. Power allocation/optimization has been solved by means of the duality equation of the stationary Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) cond让ion and is used to derive optimal values for the beam forming vector on both the relay as well as the access link. The performance of the proposed scheme is verified through simulations carried out using MATLAB software. The simulation results show a significant improvement in the SINR, throughput capacity, and coverage area of the 4G LTE-A cell, while guaranteeing better quality of service. 展开更多

It is known that dynamic channel assignment(D CA ) strategy outperforms the fixed channel assignment(FCA) strategy in omni-direc tional antenna cellular systems. One of the most important methods used in DCA w as channel borrowing. But with the emergence of cell sectorization and spatial d ivision multiple access(SDMA) which are used to increase the capacity of cel lular systems, the channel assignment faces a series of new problems. In this pa per, a dynamic channel allocation scheme based on sectored cellular systems is p roposed. By introducing intra-cell channel borrowing (borrowing channels from n eighboring sectors) and inter-cell channel borrowing (borrowing channels from n eighboring cells) methods, previous DCA strategies, including compact pattern ba sed channel borrowing(CPCB) and greedy based dynamic channel assignment(GDCA) schemes proposed by the author, are improved significantly. The computer simu lation shows that either intra-cell borrowing scheme or inter-cell borrowing s cheme is efficient enough to uniform and non-uniform traffic service distributi ons. 展开更多

Here we propose a simple realization of U(1) gauge theory with Rydberg and Rydberg-dressed atom arrays. Within the experimentally accessible range, we find that the various aspects of the U(1) gauge theory can be well simulated, such as the emergence of topological sectors, incommensurability, and the Rokhsar–Kivelson point that hosts deconfined charge excitations and degenerate topological sectors. Our proposal is promising to implement experimentally and exhibits pronounced quantum dynamics. 展开更多

This study evaluates the use of predictive analytics to forecast customer turnover in subscription-based Services in order to develop a predictive model to help small and medium-sized enterprises manage customer churn in the face of digital disruption.The research uses a quantitative approach focusing on empirical customer data to accurately predict buying trends and adapt marketing techniques.Demand forecasts in the health sector are important,as in every sector.In particular,the material forecast and stock forecasting of the purchasing unit of hospitals are among the areas that receive significant attention.Four classifiers(Random Forest,Logistic Regression,Gradient Boosting and XGBoost)are trained and evaluated using various performance indicators as part of a systematic approach involving Kaggle data collection,preparation and model selection.The results show excellent accuracy in predicting customer attrition,but there are limitations in precision and recall,indicating room for improvement.Confusion matrices provide information about the performance of each classifier,allowing for continuous improvement of predictive analytics techniques.Ethical concerns are rigorously addressed throughout the work process to guarantee appropriate data and machine learning methodologies.The proposals emphasize the proactive use of predictive analytics to identify at-risk customers and implement targeted retention strategies.Incorporating new data sources,improving customer experience,and utilizing collaborative churn management methods are recommended to increase forecast accuracy and business outcomes.Finally,this research provides important insights into the usefulness of predictive analytics for customer churn forecasting as well as practical recommendations for businesses seeking to increase customer retention and reduce churn risk.By leveraging empirical research findings and implementing ethical and rigorous churn control strategies,businesses can achieve long-term success in today’s changing market environment. 展开更多

This study analyzes the impact of profitability,firm size,and capital structure on firm value within the manufacturing sector.Utilizing a descriptive literature-based method,this research synthesizes various findings from previous studies to provide a comprehensive overview of the relationships among these variables.Profitability,often measured by Return on Assets(ROA)or Return on Equity(ROE),is expected to have a positive relationship with firm value as it reflects a company’s ability to generate profits.Firm size,measured by total assets or the logarithm of sales,is also assumed to influence firm value,both through economies of scale and better access to capital markets.Meanwhile,capital structure,measured by Debt to Equity Ratio(DER)or Debt to Asset Ratio(DAR),has a complex impact;while debt can enhance firm value through tax shields,excessive debt levels can increase financial risk and potentially decrease firm value.The synthesis of literature indicates a general consensus on the importance of profitability and firm size in shaping firm value,though there is variation in the significance and direction of the relationship for capital structure variables.This study provides important implications for company managers and investors in making strategic decisions related to resource allocation and selecting an optimal capital structure to enhance firm value. 展开更多

The thaw-freezing transition period is crucial to determine the initial sea ice status prior to the freezing season.The heat and mass balance at ice-ocean interface is the major driving process.In this study,we analyze heat fluxes profile through the ice from ice surface down to basal ice-ocean interface using the data measured by 11 thermistor stringbased ice mass balance buoys(IMBs)between September and December 2018 in the Pacific sector of Arctic Ocean.The conductive heat fluxes gradually decreased from surface downward through the lower ice layers due to the thermal inertia and energy storage in the brine pockets.At the ice bottom,the oceanic heat flux decreased from(5.9±1.3)W/m^(2)in mid-September to(1.8±0.8)W/m^(2)by the end of December in response to the decreasing of available absorbed solar radiation regulated by the latitude and sea ice concentration.The initial ice thicknesses can explain the onset of ice basal growth by 44.8%(R^(2)).From 15 September to the average onset of ice basal growth by 13 November,the accumulated heat fluxes released from the ice surface to the atmosphere,caused by the cooling of the ice layer,and from the ocean to the ice bottom were estimated as 25.73 MJ/m^(2),6.49 MJ/m^(2),and 20.30 MJ/m^(2),respectively.The latter two components mainly play the roles in buffering the onset of ice basal growth. 展开更多

The optimal allocation of foreign resources requires a minimum level of domestic development,including financial development to benefit from the potential benefits of foreign direct investment.This study discusses the mediating role of financial development in the effect of foreign direct investment on economic growth and establishes the banking sector threshold for the 18 least developed African countries over the period 2000 to 2020.We used the generalized method of moments(GMM)and the threshold regression(TR)as part of the dynamic panel data model.The results show the non-significant contribution of foreign direct investment and the banking sector to economic growth.After interaction,the effect of foreign direct investment becomes positive but not significant.However,the coefficient of the interaction variable is significantly negative.This implies that the financial system is unable to allocate foreign resources efficiently.For this reason,this paper resorted to applying the threshold regression to determine the minimum threshold of the banking sector and established a threshold of 74.58%.It therefore becomes necessary for the 18 least developed African countries to develop the financial system in order to get full benefits of foreign direct investment. 展开更多
