Lift Distribution Based Design of Two-Dimensional Sections

A lift distribution based section design method has been proposed. Through Newton-Raphson iterations, the section geometry is efficiently designed to meet the requirements for total lift and lift distribution. The effect of fluid viscosity on total lift is taken into account by coupling Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS)simulation with the potential-flow based design procedure. The present method avoids the difficulty of assigning velocity or pressure distributions on section surfaces. As the loading and thickness distributions are expressed in parametric forms, it is easy to ensure that the designed geometry is continuous and smooth. The effects of lift and thickness distributions on cavitation bucket are numerically investigated. A shift of lift loading towards the aft part of section tends to decrease the margin of back cavitation, while the width of cavitation bucket can be kept almost unchanged. To have a wider cavitation bucket, one can increase the leading edge radius, move properly the location of maximum thickness towards the leading edge, or decrease the curvature at the location of maximum thickness. 展开更多

Kuiper and Jessup(1993)developed a design method for propellers in a wake based on the Eppler foil design method.The optimized section is transformed into the three-dimensional propeller flow using the approach of the effective blade sections.Effective blade sections are two-dimensional sections in two-dimensional flow which have the same chordwise loading distribution as the three-dimensional blade sections of a propeller.However,the design procedure is laborious in two aspects:finding an optimum blade section using the Eppler program requires much skill of the designer,and transforming the two-dimensional blade section into a propeller blade section in three-dimensional flow is complex.In this work,these two problems were coped with.A blade section design procedure was presented using an optimization technique and an alternative procedure for the effective blade section is developed using a lifting surface design method.To validate the method a benchmark model of a naval ship was used.This benchmark model was extended by new appendices and a reference propeller,and designed using conventional design methods.This reference propeller was optimized using the new design procedure and model tests were carried out.Special attention was given to the data of the model and the reference propeller,to make the configuration suitable for the Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS)calculations. 展开更多

On the basis of the canard configuration a contour stealth design including chiefly the wing, the fuselage and their connection type is projected. The prime project of a blended wing body vehicle with canard is provided and through the change of the fuselage head form and the different fin disposals, the radar cross section (RCS) is optimized. The average value of RCS and the value of RCS in the ± 45 ° front sector for different designs are illustrated. The model measurement proves that the project having a sharp head fuselage and 30 ° angle double fin has the minimum value of RCS. The wind tunnel test to the model with RCS optimized proved that the vehicle project has excellent aerodynamic characteristics such as high lift curve slope, up to 26° stalling angle, high lift / drag ratio equal to 8, and also has low RCS value in the front sector and in the lateral sector. 展开更多

Radar cross section (RCS) reduction technologies are very important in survivability of the military naval vessels. Ship appearance shaping as an effective countermeasure of RCS reduction redirects the scattered energy from one angular region of interest in space to another region of little interest. To decrease the scattering electromagnetic signals from ship scientifically, optimization methods should be introduced in shaping design. Based on the assumption of the characteristic section design method, mathematical formulations for optimal shaping design were established. Because of the computation-intensive analysis and singularity in shaping optimization, the response surface method (RSM) combined genetic algorithm (GA) was proposed. The poly-nomial response surface method was adopted in model approximation. Then genetic algorithms were employed to solve the surrogate optimization problem. By comparison RCS of the conventional and the optimal design, the superiority and effectiveness of proposed design methodology were verified. 展开更多

An external carriage and a wing have a high radar cross section (RCS) level in a wide range of angles of pitch because they form an efficient corner reflector. Coupling scattering between the external carriage and the wing is controlled by designing a saw tooth structure of the external carriage on condition that the wing structure is not changed. A low RCS saw tooth scheme of the external carriage is given in the paper. The ray tracing method and the physical theory of diffraction are used to calculate the radar scattering characteristics of low RCS structures of the external carriage and wing. The results show that the saw tooth scheme of the external carriage is feasible and effective for low RCS design. 展开更多

An optimization strategy is proposed to deal with the aerodynamic/stealthy/structural multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) issue of unmanned combat air vehicle (UCAV). In applying the strategy, the MDO process is divided into two levels, i.e. system level optimization and subsystem level optimization. The system level optimization is to achieve optimized system objective (or multi-objective) through the adjustment of global external configuration design variables. The subsystem level optimization consists of the aerodynamic/stealthy integrated design and the structural optimization. The aerodynamic/stealthy integrated design aims at achieving the minimum aerodynamic drag coefficient under the constraint of stealthy requirement through the adjustment of local external configuration design variables. The structural optimization is to minimize the structural weight by adjusting the dimefisions of structural components. A flowchart to implement this strategy is presented. The MDO for a flying-wing configuration of UCAV is employed to illustrate the detailed process of the optimization. The results indicate that the overall process of the surrogate-based two-level optimization strategy can be implemented automatically, and quite reasonable results are obtained. 展开更多

This article seeks to outline an integrated and practical geometric optimization design system (GODS) incorporating hybrid graphical electromagnetic computing-wedge modeling (GRECO-WM) scheme and the genetic algorithm (GA) for calculating the radar cross section (RCS) and optimizing the geometric parameters of a large and complex target respectively. A new wedge modeling (WM) scheme is presented for calculating the high-frequency RCS of wedge with only one visible facet based on the method of equivalent currents (MEC). The applications of GODS to 2D cross-section and 3D surface are respectively implemented by choosing an average of monostatic RCS values corresponding to a series of incident angles over a frequency band as the optimum objective function. And the results demonstrate that the RCS can be effectively and conveniently reduced by the GODS presented in this article. 展开更多

以某设计时速350 km高速铁路单洞双线大跨度隧道工程为依托,从设计与施工2个方面对拼装式明洞衬砌进行研究。首先,结合建筑限界和安全疏散通道等因素确定衬砌内轮廓及衬砌横断面形式;然后,基于平面几何基本原理,提出考虑明洞衬砌横断面... 以某设计时速350 km高速铁路单洞双线大跨度隧道工程为依托,从设计与施工2个方面对拼装式明洞衬砌进行研究。首先,结合建筑限界和安全疏散通道等因素确定衬砌内轮廓及衬砌横断面形式;然后,基于平面几何基本原理,提出考虑明洞衬砌横断面几何参数的预制块分块方法;最后,在优化结构形式的基础上,提出预制块结构设计与拼装方法。结果表明:该依托工程的隧道横断面设计为带仰拱的多心圆曲边墙拱形断面形式,以提高明洞的整体稳定性和运营寿命;优化后,单环衬砌设计为3块A型预制块、2块B型预制块和1块C型预制块,衬砌各接头位置处弯矩较小甚至为0;预制块环向间以半圆形榫接头拼接,纵向间以圆台形榫接头拼接,并通过缓膨胀止水条、排水管、排水沟等形式加强衬砌整体防水性能;单环拼装时先拼装仰拱部位的C型预制块,再拼装拱肩部位的B型预制块,最后再拼装拱部的A型预制块,前后相邻预制块对位,以通缝方式完成明洞衬砌整体拼装。 展开更多

电分相布设是否合理对于列车的安全运行有着重要影响。以往铁路设计中,会考虑纵断面设计对于控制因素、重要征拆、工程造价、施工工艺等的影响,由于站前与站后设计不同步,较少考虑纵断面设计对于电分相的决定性影响,当前电分相的设置通... 电分相布设是否合理对于列车的安全运行有着重要影响。以往铁路设计中,会考虑纵断面设计对于控制因素、重要征拆、工程造价、施工工艺等的影响,由于站前与站后设计不同步,较少考虑纵断面设计对于电分相的决定性影响,当前电分相的设置通常后置于铁路选线设计工作,基于既定的线路方案而展开,导致电分相与线路匹配困难,甚至一旦后期运营面临极端天气无法达速时,易发生列车掉电分相等情况而危及行车安全。针对这一问题,在纵断面线路设计过程中预先考虑了电分相布设的影响,基于列车牵引运行仿真分析,建立铁路线路纵断面与电分相布设的协同优化模型,该优化模型以里程与标高为设计变量,以铁路综合费用为目标函数,以最大坡度、最小坡段长、最大坡度代数差等为约束条件;提出了分步−协同粒子群算法用于优化模型的解算,采用元启发式群智能优化方法,将优化问题的解决方案抽象为超维设计空间中的粒子,先分步生成初始群体,再协同进化线路−电分相综合方案的粒子群优化算法,实现了纵断面线路−电分相布设的综合方案智能优化。本研究成果已成功应用于某重大高速铁路线路车站的上行联络线工程,指导了该段纵断面线路设计过程,通过分步−协同粒子群算法解决了传统设计列车掉电分相的难题,从源头上降低了铁路运营期间沿线的电分相的相关风险。 展开更多

The elliptical cross-section spiral equal-channel extrusion (ECSEE) process is simulated by using Deform-3D finite element software. The ratio m of major-axis to minor-axis length for ellipse-cross-section, the torsion angle u, the round-ellipse cross-section transitional channel L1, the elliptical rotation cross-section transitional channel L2 and the ellipse-round cross-section transitional channel L3 are destined for the extrusion process parameters. The average effective strain eave on cross-section of blank, the deformation uniformity coefficient a and the value of maximum damage dmax are chosen to be the optimize indexes, and the virtual orthogonal experiment of L16 (45) is designed. The correlation degree of the process factors affecting eave, a and dmax is analyzed by the numerical simulation results using the weights and grey association model. The process parameters are optimized by introducing the grey situation decision theory and the ECSEE optimal combination of process parameters is obtained: u of 120 , m of 1.55, L1 of 7 mm, L2 of 10 mm, and L3 of 10 mm. Simulation and experimental results show that the material can be refined with the optimized structural parameters of die. Therefore, the optimization results are satisfactory. 展开更多

针对悬索桥销接式平行钢丝吊索在使用过程中出现的病害,从吊索结构布置、构造设计、材料选择、计算内容等方面进行研究并给出针对性的设计建议。同一吊点吊索的肢数一般宜设计为2肢;吊索的纵向间距应考虑结构受力及施工等需要,设置为加... 针对悬索桥销接式平行钢丝吊索在使用过程中出现的病害,从吊索结构布置、构造设计、材料选择、计算内容等方面进行研究并给出针对性的设计建议。同一吊点吊索的肢数一般宜设计为2肢;吊索的纵向间距应考虑结构受力及施工等需要,设置为加劲梁横梁间距的整数倍;悬索桥主跨跨中区域宜设置柔性中央扣;跨中最短吊索的柔性段长度不宜小于1.5 m,最好不小于2 m。吊索下端与加劲梁的连接建议采用销接式;锚头可采用热铸锚;空间索面吊索及柔性段长度小于10 m的平行索面吊索,其上、下端建议设置关节轴承;吊索相关部件之间应设置合适的过盈配合与间隙配合。吊索建议采用直径5 mm系列的锌铝合金镀层钢丝;叉形耳板宜采用强度相对较低的优质钢材,避免高强度钢对应力集中敏感易形成裂纹源的问题;吊索锚杯可采用ZG20Mn低合金铸钢。吊索受力分析应考虑静载试验工况,此时钢部件应力可按屈服强度控制。 展开更多
