Based on the Reynolds' lubrication theory, the small parameter method was introduced to approximately analyze velocity field and stress distribution between the two disks. Then a similar procedure was carried out for analyzing the normal interaction between two nearly touching, arbitrary rigid spheres to obtain the pressure distribution and the resulting squeeze force. It has been proved that the solutions can be reduced to the case of a Newtonian fluid when the non-Newtonian terms are neglected.展开更多

The material is represented by the constitutive equations for a second-order fluid. Closed-form solutions under the consideration of long wavelength and low Reynolds number is presented. The analytical expressions for the pressure gradient, pressure rise, friction force, stream function, shear stress, and velocity are obtained in the physical domain. The effects of the non-dimensional wave amplitude, porosity, magnetic field, rotation, and the dimensionless time-mean flow in the wave frame are analyzed theoretically and computed numerically. The...This paper studies the random internal wave equations describing the density interface displacements and the velocity potentials of N-layer stratified fluid contained between two rigid walls at the top and bottom. The density interface displacements and the velocity potentials were solved to the second-order by an expansion approach used by Longuet-Higgins (1963) and Dean (1979) in the study of random surface waves and by Song (2004) in the study of second- order random wave solutions for internal waves in a two-layer fluid. The obtained results indicate that the first-order solutions are a linear superposition of many wave components with different amplitudes, wave numbers and frequencies, and that the amplitudes of first-order wave components with the same wave numbers and frequencies between the adjacent density interfaces are modulated by each other. They also show that the second-order solutions consist of two parts: the first one is the first-order solutions, and the second one is the solutions of the second-order asymptotic equations, which describe the second-order nonlinear modification and the second-order wave-wave interactions not only among the wave components on same density interfaces but also among the wave components between the adjacent density interfaces. Both the first-order and second-order solutions depend on the density and depth of each layer. It is also deduced that the results of the present work include those derived by Song (2004) for second-order random wave solutions for internal waves in a two-layer fluid as a particular case.展开更多

Geophys Res Lett, 31 (15):L15302) of the second-order solutions for random interracial waves is extended in a constant depth, two-layer fluid system with a rigid lid is extended into a more general case of two-layer fluid with a top free surface. The rigid boundary condition on the upper surface is replaced by the kinematical and dynamical boundary conditions of a free surface, and the equations describing the random displacements of free surface, density-interface and the associated velocity potentials in the two-layer fluid are solved to the second order using the same expansion technology as that of Song (2004. Geophys Res Lett, 31 (15):L15302). The results show that the interface and the surface will oscillate synchronously, and the wave fields to the first-order both at the free surface and at the density-interface are made up of a linear superposition of many waves with different amplitudes, wave numbers and frequencies. The second-order solutions describe the second-order wave-wave interactions of the surface wave components, the interface wave components and among the surface and the interface wave components. In this model, phases interaction and the extra term of Bingham fluid yield stress are taken into account. An algorithm for USM-θ model in dense two-phase flow was proposed, in which the influence of particle volume fraction is accounted for. This model was used to simulate turbulent flow of Bingham fluid single-phase and dense liquid-particle two-phase in pipe. It is shown USM-θ model has better prediction result than the five-equation model, in which the particle-particle collision is modeled by the particle kinetic theory, while the turbulence of both phase is simulated by the two-equation turbulence model. The USM-θ model was then used to simulate the dense two-phase turbulent up flow of Bingham fluid with particles. With the increasing of the yield stress, the velocities of Bingham and particle decrease near the pipe centre. Comparing the two-phase flow of Bingham-particle with that of liquid-particle, it is found the source term of yield stress has significant effect on flow.展开更多

文摘Continuous control protocols are extensively utilized in traditional MASs,in which information needs to be transmitted among agents consecutively, therefore resulting in excessive consumption of limited resources. To decrease the control cost, based on ISC,several LFC problems are investigated for second-order MASs without and with time delay, respectively.Firstly,an intermittent sampled controller is designed, and a sufficient and necessary condition is derived, under which state errors between the leader and all the followers approach zero asymptotically.Considering that time delay is inevitable,a new protocol is proposed to deal with the time-delay situation. The error system’s stability is analyzed using the Schur stability theorem, and sufficient and necessary conditions for LFC are obtained, which are closely associated with the coupling gain, the system parameters, and the network structure.Furthermore, for the case where the current position and velocity information are not available,a distributed protocol is designed that depends only on the sampled position information. The sufficient and necessary conditions for LFC are also given. The results show that second-order MASs can achieve the LFC if and only if the system parameters satisfy the inequalities proposed in the paper. Finally, the correctness of the obtained results is verified by numerical simulations.

文摘In this paper,we investigate the phenomena of electromagnetically induced transparency and the generation of second-order sideband in a Laguerre–Gaussian cavity optorotational system with a Kerr nonlinear medium.Using the perturbation method,we analyze the first-and second-order sideband generations in the output field from the system under the actions of a strong control field and a weak probe field.Numerical simulations show that the Kerr nonlinearity can lead to the occurrence of the asymmetric line shape in the transmission of the probe field.Comparing with traditional scheme for generating the second-order sideband, our spectral shape of the second-order sideband is amplified and becomes asymmetric, which has potential applications in precision measurement,high-sensitivity devices, and frequency conversion.
文摘The stabilization problem of second-order bilinear systems with time delay is investigated.Feedback controls are chosen so that the strong and exponential stabilization of the system is ensured. The obtained results are illustrated by wave and beam equations with simulation.

文摘In the present paper, the random interfacial waves in N-layer density-stratified fluids moving at different steady uniform speeds are researched by using an expansion technique, and the second-order asymptotic solutions of the random displacements of the density interfaces and the associated velocity potentials in N-layer fluid are presented based on the small amplitude wave theory. The obtained results indicate that the wave-wave second-order nonlinear interactions of the wave components and the second-order nonlinear interactions between the waves and currents are described. As expected, the solutions include those derived by Chen (2006) as a special case where the steady uniform currents of the N-layer fluids are taken as zero, and the solutions also reduce to those obtained by Song (2005) for second-order solutions for random interfacial waves with steady uniform currents if N = 2.
