Purpose: The aim of this article is to explore up to seven parameters related to the methodological quality and reproducibility of thematic bibliometric research published in the two most productive journals in biblio...Purpose: The aim of this article is to explore up to seven parameters related to the methodological quality and reproducibility of thematic bibliometric research published in the two most productive journals in bibliometrics, Sustainability(a journal outside the discipline) and Scientometrics, the flagship journal in the field.Design/methodology/approach: The study identifies the need for developing tailored tools for improving the quality of thematic bibliometric analyses, and presents a framework that can guide the development of such tools. A total of 508 papers are analysed, 77% of Sustainability, and 23% published in Scientometrics, for the 2019-2021 period.Findings: An average of 2.6 shortcomings per paper was found for the whole sample, with an almost identical number of flaws in both journals. Sustainability has more flaws than Scientometrics in four of the seven parameters studied, while Scientometrics has more shortcomings in the remaining three variables.Research limitations: The first limitation of this work is that it is a study of two scientific journals, so the results cannot be directly extrapolated to the set of thematic bibliometric analyses published in journals from all fields.Practical implications: We propose the adoption of protocols, guidelines, and other similar tools, adapted to bibliometric practice, which could increase the thoroughness, transparency, and reproducibility of this type of research.Originality/value: These results show considerable room for improvement in terms of the adequate use and breakdown of methodological procedures in thematic bibliometric research, both in journals in the Information Science area and journals outside the discipline.展开更多

There has been an exponential growth of research on three-dimensional food printing(3DFP)in recent years.In this study,scientometric and visual analyses were performed on scientific publications about 3DFP from Januar...There has been an exponential growth of research on three-dimensional food printing(3DFP)in recent years.In this study,scientometric and visual analyses were performed on scientific publications about 3DFP from January 1,2014,to June 30,2023,aiming to characterize the evolution,hotspots,and emerging trends in this research area.Using"3D food printing"as the topic search term,517 studies from 1,509 authors at 441 institutions in 56 countries/regions were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection.Scientometric analysis was performed using VOSviewer in terms of annual publications,countries/regions,institutions,authors,journals,highly cited papers,and keywords.A co-occurrence analysis of 105 keywords with a frequency greater than three was conducted,resulting in five clusters.In conjunction with the analysis of highly cited papers and hot papers,"hydrogels,""high internal phase emulsion,""bigels,""dysphagic food,"and"4D printing"were identified as the latest high-frequency keywords and research hotspots,indicating the emerging frontiers of 3DFP.The clustered keywords were further discussed to assist researchers in determining the topic scope and planning their research directions.This study revealed the current trends,global collaboration patterns,fundamental knowledge,research hotspots,and emerging frontiers in 3DFP.展开更多
Over the past 160 years,shrubs have expanded globally,significantly altering native ecosystem structures,functions,and services.However,a comprehensive bibliometric perspective on shrub encroachment remains underdevel...Over the past 160 years,shrubs have expanded globally,significantly altering native ecosystem structures,functions,and services.However,a comprehensive bibliometric perspective on shrub encroachment remains underdeveloped,and a holistic research framework is lacking to understand the evolution,current state,and emerging research frontiers.To address this,we conducted a bibliometric analysis and literature review using the R software package,based on the Web of Science Core Collection citation database.Keyword analysis revealed that research has focused on various grassland types,soil nutrients,climate change,and plant communities.Thematic mapping identified key themes,including influencing factors,feedback mechanisms,invasion processes,ecological consequences,shrub management,and quantitative monitoring.Basic themes encompass shrub encroachment,dynamics,fire,grazing,and climate change while emerging themes include decomposition,microbial biomass,and ecosystem function.We synthesized eight key factors driving shrub encroachment:atmospheric CO_(2)concentration,global warming,changes in rainfall patterns,atmospheric nitrogen deposition,topography,soils,herbivory,fire suppression,and land use change.The feedback mechanisms of shrub encroachment,driven by exogenous and maintained by endogenous factors,were categorized into three stages:seed dispersal,colonizing and establishment,and diffusion.Shrub encroachment also impacts ecosystem services,including provisioning(e.g.,forage productivity),regulating(e.g.,hydrological regulation),and supporting(e.g.,carbon sequestration and biodiversity).We also summarized four main approaches to shrub management:burning,biological,chemical,and physical removal.The connections between the ecosystem services affected by shrub encroachment and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)were highlighted to achieve synergies across multiple objectives.We emphasize the importance of quantification and monitoring in understanding the causes,consequences,and management of shrub encroachment.We advocate for long-term,location-based,and globally networked experiments and recommend the integration of new technologies,such as LiDAR,drones,and artificial intelligence,into shrub encroachment research.In conclusion,our study provides a comprehensive dataset and research framework for scholars studying shrub encroachment,aiming to deepen our understanding of this ecological process.展开更多
With the enhancement of environmental protection awareness of the international community and the continuous promotion of green and sustainable development of manufacturing industry,water lubrication instead of minera...With the enhancement of environmental protection awareness of the international community and the continuous promotion of green and sustainable development of manufacturing industry,water lubrication instead of mineral oil has become the future development trend due to its green,pollution-free,clean,safe,and sustainable advantages especially in ships,marine,coal mining,and other fields.In recent years,with the rapid development of water lubrication research,significant progress has been made in related research knowledge domain and discipline.A systematic and extensive assessment of water lubrication research has become increasingly important.The objective of this research is to reveal the research status,research hotspots,and development trends in the field of water lubrication.Therefore,CiteSpace was used to conduct a systematic bibliometric and scientometrical analysis of 1,792 publications from Web of Science core collection database(1997–2021).The results show that China and USA are the most productive countries in the field of water lubrication and have made outstanding contributions.Through the analysis of hot key words and co-citation references,this paper reviews the research status of water lubrication in three aspects:(1)lubricating medium modification;(2)material preparation;(3)surface optimization.It has become a research hotspot to promote the superlubricity contact interface and the application of nanotechnology.The results of this study can make a significant contribution to the development of water lubrication by providing a comprehensive understanding of the research status and research hotspots in this field.Personal understanding and discussion of research hotspots and research status are expected to provide insights into future research trends.In addition,this study will provide valuable references and guidelines for researchers who are interested in this field.展开更多
Purpose:Evaluating the quality of academic journal articles is a time consuming but critical task for national research evaluation exercises,appointments and promotion.It is therefore important to investigate whether ...Purpose:Evaluating the quality of academic journal articles is a time consuming but critical task for national research evaluation exercises,appointments and promotion.It is therefore important to investigate whether Large Language Models(LLMs)can play a role in this process.Design/methodology/approach:This article assesses which ChatGPT inputs(full text without tables,figures,and references;title and abstract;title only)produce better quality score estimates,and the extent to which scores are affected by ChatGPT models and system prompts.Findings:The optimal input is the article title and abstract,with average ChatGPT scores based on these(30 iterations on a dataset of 51 papers)correlating at 0.67 with human scores,the highest ever reported.ChatGPT 4o is slightly better than 3.5-turbo(0.66),and 4o-mini(0.66).Research limitations:The data is a convenience sample of the work of a single author,it only includes one field,and the scores are self-evaluations.Practical implications:The results suggest that article full texts might confuse LLM research quality evaluations,even though complex system instructions for the task are more effective than simple ones.Thus,whilst abstracts contain insufficient information for a thorough assessment of rigour,they may contain strong pointers about originality and significance.Finally,linear regression can be used to convert the model scores into the human scale scores,which is 31%more accurate than guessing.Originality/value:This is the first systematic comparison of the impact of different prompts,parameters and inputs for ChatGPT research quality evaluations.展开更多

Avocados,including the peels and seeds,have beneficial nutritional value and can be processed into oils.To understand the trends and promote the use of avocado waste,it is essential to ascertain the scientific contrib...Avocados,including the peels and seeds,have beneficial nutritional value and can be processed into oils.To understand the trends and promote the use of avocado waste,it is essential to ascertain the scientific contributions,productivity,quality,and gaps in the avocado oil research field.This research identifies the changes in the research trend over the last ten years compared to previous studies.Additionally,this study examines and summarizes the research question,significant study findings,and future directions for avocado oil research through an overview format.Results show that the market for avocado oil has been growing,received greater attention,and been extensively studied in the last 10 years as opposed to the preceding century.There is more collaborative research on this topic globally from 2014 to 2023 than from 1928 to 2013.The direction of avocado oil research has not changed significantly;rather,it has expanded from the foundational studies and become more focused.Surprisingly,recent advancements indicate a notable increase in the research topic of avocado oil adulteration,implying that such practices have become more prevalent in the last decade compared to earlier periods.Though research hotspots noted that avocado oil is still being tested on animals,such as rats,the use of avocado oil for cosmetic purposes was not emphasized till 1928–2013.Other persisting hotspots include avocado being tried for antioxidant or oxidative stress prevention,insulin resistance prevention,extraction,compositional analysis,and avocado oils being compared alongside other oils.展开更多
Grassland degradation presents overwhelming challenges to biodiversity,ecosystem services,and the socioeconomic sustainability of dependent communities.However,a comprehensive synthesis of global knowledge on the fron...Grassland degradation presents overwhelming challenges to biodiversity,ecosystem services,and the socioeconomic sustainability of dependent communities.However,a comprehensive synthesis of global knowledge on the frontiers and key areas of grassland degradation research has not been achieved due to the limitations of traditional scientometrics methods.The present synthesis of information employed BERTopic,an advanced natural language processing tool,to analyze the extensive ecological literature on grassland degradation.We compiled a dataset of 4,504 publications from the Web of Science core collection database and used it to evaluate the geographic distribution and temporal evolution of different grassland types and available knowledge on the subject.Our analysis identified key topics in the global grassland degradation research domain,including the effects of grassland degradation on ecosystem functions,grassland ecological restoration and biodiversity conservation,erosion processes and hydrological models in grasslands,and others.The BERTopic analysis significantly outperforms traditional methods in identifying complex and evolving topics in large datasets of literature.Compared to traditional scientometrics analysis,BERTopic provides a more comprehensive perspective on the research areas,revealing not only popular topics but also emerging research areas that traditional methods may overlook,although scientometrics offers more specificity and detail.Therefore,we argue for the simultaneous use of both approaches to achieve more systematic and comprehensive assessments of specific research areas.This study represents an emerging application of BERTopic algorithms in ecological research,particularly in the critical research focused on global grassland degradation.It also highlights the need for integrating advanced computational methods in ecological research in this era of data explosion.Tools like the BERTopic algorithm are essential for enhancing our understanding of complex environmental problems,and it marks an important stride towards more sophisticated,data-driven analysis in ecology.展开更多

文摘Over the past 160 years,shrubs have expanded globally,significantly altering native ecosystem structures,functions,and services.However,a comprehensive bibliometric perspective on shrub encroachment remains underdeveloped,and a holistic research framework is lacking to understand the evolution,current state,and emerging research frontiers.To address this,we conducted a bibliometric analysis and literature review using the R software package,based on the Web of Science Core Collection citation database.Keyword analysis revealed that research has focused on various grassland types,soil nutrients,climate change,and plant communities.Thematic mapping identified key themes,including influencing factors,feedback mechanisms,invasion processes,ecological consequences,shrub management,and quantitative monitoring.Basic themes encompass shrub encroachment,dynamics,fire,grazing,and climate change while emerging themes include decomposition,microbial biomass,and ecosystem function.We synthesized eight key factors driving shrub encroachment:atmospheric CO_(2)concentration,global warming,changes in rainfall patterns,atmospheric nitrogen deposition,topography,soils,herbivory,fire suppression,and land use change.The feedback mechanisms of shrub encroachment,driven by exogenous and maintained by endogenous factors,were categorized into three stages:seed dispersal,colonizing and establishment,and diffusion.Shrub encroachment also impacts ecosystem services,including provisioning(e.g.,forage productivity),regulating(e.g.,hydrological regulation),and supporting(e.g.,carbon sequestration and biodiversity).We also summarized four main approaches to shrub management:burning,biological,chemical,and physical removal.The connections between the ecosystem services affected by shrub encroachment and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)were highlighted to achieve synergies across multiple objectives.We emphasize the importance of quantification and monitoring in understanding the causes,consequences,and management of shrub encroachment.We advocate for long-term,location-based,and globally networked experiments and recommend the integration of new technologies,such as LiDAR,drones,and artificial intelligence,into shrub encroachment research.In conclusion,our study provides a comprehensive dataset and research framework for scholars studying shrub encroachment,aiming to deepen our understanding of this ecological process.

文摘With the enhancement of environmental protection awareness of the international community and the continuous promotion of green and sustainable development of manufacturing industry,water lubrication instead of mineral oil has become the future development trend due to its green,pollution-free,clean,safe,and sustainable advantages especially in ships,marine,coal mining,and other fields.In recent years,with the rapid development of water lubrication research,significant progress has been made in related research knowledge domain and discipline.A systematic and extensive assessment of water lubrication research has become increasingly important.The objective of this research is to reveal the research status,research hotspots,and development trends in the field of water lubrication.Therefore,CiteSpace was used to conduct a systematic bibliometric and scientometrical analysis of 1,792 publications from Web of Science core collection database(1997–2021).The results show that China and USA are the most productive countries in the field of water lubrication and have made outstanding contributions.Through the analysis of hot key words and co-citation references,this paper reviews the research status of water lubrication in three aspects:(1)lubricating medium modification;(2)material preparation;(3)surface optimization.It has become a research hotspot to promote the superlubricity contact interface and the application of nanotechnology.The results of this study can make a significant contribution to the development of water lubrication by providing a comprehensive understanding of the research status and research hotspots in this field.Personal understanding and discussion of research hotspots and research status are expected to provide insights into future research trends.In addition,this study will provide valuable references and guidelines for researchers who are interested in this field.
文摘Purpose:Evaluating the quality of academic journal articles is a time consuming but critical task for national research evaluation exercises,appointments and promotion.It is therefore important to investigate whether Large Language Models(LLMs)can play a role in this process.Design/methodology/approach:This article assesses which ChatGPT inputs(full text without tables,figures,and references;title and abstract;title only)produce better quality score estimates,and the extent to which scores are affected by ChatGPT models and system prompts.Findings:The optimal input is the article title and abstract,with average ChatGPT scores based on these(30 iterations on a dataset of 51 papers)correlating at 0.67 with human scores,the highest ever reported.ChatGPT 4o is slightly better than 3.5-turbo(0.66),and 4o-mini(0.66).Research limitations:The data is a convenience sample of the work of a single author,it only includes one field,and the scores are self-evaluations.Practical implications:The results suggest that article full texts might confuse LLM research quality evaluations,even though complex system instructions for the task are more effective than simple ones.Thus,whilst abstracts contain insufficient information for a thorough assessment of rigour,they may contain strong pointers about originality and significance.Finally,linear regression can be used to convert the model scores into the human scale scores,which is 31%more accurate than guessing.Originality/value:This is the first systematic comparison of the impact of different prompts,parameters and inputs for ChatGPT research quality evaluations.

文摘Pharmacy is an important subfield of the medical sciences,and its development is inseparable from pharmacy education.Pharmacy education outputs indispensable professionals and expertise for the healthcare industry,promotes the development of pharmacy skills,and supports the development of the pharmaceutical and health sectors.To this end,many insightful studies have been carried out to promote the development and progress of pharmacy education.These studies have been published in high-quality pharmacy education journals indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection(WoSCC),and the two journals with the largest number of published articles are the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education and Currents in Pharmacy Teaching and Learning.The 200 most-cited papers historically in these two journals have a significant impact on the research paradigm and future directions in the field of pharmacy education.Therefore,this paper summarizes the knowledge domains of these 200 papers and uses the scientometric method to study their basic information,authorship distribution,citation performance,publishing paradigm and hotspot mining.The era of Holistic Integrative Pharmacy(HIP),in which the focus has shifted from isolated pharmacological interventions to more collaborative,patient-centered,and interdisciplinary approaches,underscores the importance of evolving educational methodologies.In this context,understanding the scientometric trends in pharmacy education becomes even more crucial.This study aims to explore the current development status of pharmacy education,develop more innovative and effective educational models,and promote the widespread application of HIP in pharmacy education.The goal is to enhance the overall quality of pharmacy education and provide guidance and insights for the future development of pharmacy education.

文摘Avocados,including the peels and seeds,have beneficial nutritional value and can be processed into oils.To understand the trends and promote the use of avocado waste,it is essential to ascertain the scientific contributions,productivity,quality,and gaps in the avocado oil research field.This research identifies the changes in the research trend over the last ten years compared to previous studies.Additionally,this study examines and summarizes the research question,significant study findings,and future directions for avocado oil research through an overview format.Results show that the market for avocado oil has been growing,received greater attention,and been extensively studied in the last 10 years as opposed to the preceding century.There is more collaborative research on this topic globally from 2014 to 2023 than from 1928 to 2013.The direction of avocado oil research has not changed significantly;rather,it has expanded from the foundational studies and become more focused.Surprisingly,recent advancements indicate a notable increase in the research topic of avocado oil adulteration,implying that such practices have become more prevalent in the last decade compared to earlier periods.Though research hotspots noted that avocado oil is still being tested on animals,such as rats,the use of avocado oil for cosmetic purposes was not emphasized till 1928–2013.Other persisting hotspots include avocado being tried for antioxidant or oxidative stress prevention,insulin resistance prevention,extraction,compositional analysis,and avocado oils being compared alongside other oils.

文摘Grassland degradation presents overwhelming challenges to biodiversity,ecosystem services,and the socioeconomic sustainability of dependent communities.However,a comprehensive synthesis of global knowledge on the frontiers and key areas of grassland degradation research has not been achieved due to the limitations of traditional scientometrics methods.The present synthesis of information employed BERTopic,an advanced natural language processing tool,to analyze the extensive ecological literature on grassland degradation.We compiled a dataset of 4,504 publications from the Web of Science core collection database and used it to evaluate the geographic distribution and temporal evolution of different grassland types and available knowledge on the subject.Our analysis identified key topics in the global grassland degradation research domain,including the effects of grassland degradation on ecosystem functions,grassland ecological restoration and biodiversity conservation,erosion processes and hydrological models in grasslands,and others.The BERTopic analysis significantly outperforms traditional methods in identifying complex and evolving topics in large datasets of literature.Compared to traditional scientometrics analysis,BERTopic provides a more comprehensive perspective on the research areas,revealing not only popular topics but also emerging research areas that traditional methods may overlook,although scientometrics offers more specificity and detail.Therefore,we argue for the simultaneous use of both approaches to achieve more systematic and comprehensive assessments of specific research areas.This study represents an emerging application of BERTopic algorithms in ecological research,particularly in the critical research focused on global grassland degradation.It also highlights the need for integrating advanced computational methods in ecological research in this era of data explosion.Tools like the BERTopic algorithm are essential for enhancing our understanding of complex environmental problems,and it marks an important stride towards more sophisticated,data-driven analysis in ecology.
