In this paper,the problem of making an input-delay system with saturating actuators finite-time stable by virtue of digital control is investigated.A digital state feedback controller and digital observer-controller compensator are designed for two cases:when the state of the input-delay system are available or when it is unavailable.Sufficient conditions which guarantee finite-time stability of a closed-loop input-delay system are given and the proof procedure is presented in a heuristic way by constructing appropriate comparison functions.The condition can be transformed into the intersection of two curves satisfying some constraints,which reveals the relationship between designed parameters clearly.Finally,simulation results are presented to validate the method proposed in this paper. 展开更多

The stability of underground abandoned gypsum mines is dependent on the gypsum pillar's strength,and most abandoned mines are in a fully saturated condition. Moisture affects the strength of gypsum and is therefore commonly measured when testing rock strength. For most rocks, this is a simple task of weighing the rock's mass before and after oven-heating at a specified temperature and duration. For natural gypsum, however, this is not a straightforward process. Heating natural gypsum can result in dehydration and transformation of gypsum to hemihydrate and anhydrite, thus changing the physical characteristics of the gypsum such as its particle density which in turn affects the moisture content and strength measurements. To prevent transformation when determining the moisture content of gypsum,the American Society for Testing Materials(ASTM) recommends lowering the drying temperature from 110℃ to 60℃ . To investigate the temperature at which gypsum transforms to hemihydrate, we used a helium pycnometer to measure the particle densities of gypsum, hemihydrate and anhydrite. In this research, we suggest that a higher drying temperature of 80℃ can be used for drying gypsum without transforming gypsum to hemihydrate. Further, preparing saturated samples for mechanical testing,which is required in stability analyses of abandoned mines, is challenging due to the dissolution of gypsum when placed in water. To address this problem, we investigated the following methods to saturate gypsum cores taking into account the solubility of gypsum:(1) water immersion,(2) vacuum saturation, and(3) improved vacuum saturation. The research indicates that all the three methods are acceptable but they should be conducted using a saturated gypsum-water solution to minimize dissolution. Further, the research found that the improved vacuum saturation method saturated the test samples within 24 h, while duration of 30 h was required for the other two methods. 展开更多

The system considered is continuous in time with norm bounded parametric uncertainties. By incorporating the free weighing matrix approach developed recently, some new delay-dependent stability conditions in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) with some tuning parameters are obtained. An estimate of the domain of attraction of the closed-loop system under a priori designed controller is proposed. The approach is based on a polytopic description of the actuator saturation nonlinearities and the Lyapunov- Krasovskii method. Numerical examples are used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design method. 展开更多

The longitudinal temperature distribution of regenerator and gas were obtained. The variation of temperature with time was discussed. In addition, the effects of some parameters such as switching time, gas temperature at the inlet of regenerator, height of regenerator and specific heat of the regenerative materials on heat saturating time were discussed. A better understanding of the molecular mechanisms that control the UCP1 expression in brown and beige adipocytes is essential for us to modulate adipose cell fate and promote thermogenesis,which may provide a therapeutic view for the treatment of obesity and obesity-related diseases.To systematically identify cis-element(s)that transcriptionally regulates Ucp1,we here took advantage of the high-throughput CRIPSR-Cas9 screening system,and performed an in situ saturating mutagenesis screen,by using a customized sgRNA library targeting the~20 kb genomic region near Ucp1.Through the screening,we have identified several genomic loci that may contain key regulatory element for Ucp1 expression in cultured brown and white adipocytes in vitro,and in inguinal white adipose tissue in vivo.Our study highlights a broadly useful approach for studying cis-regulatory elements in a high-throughput manner. 展开更多

In recent years,image processing based on stochastic resonance(SR)has received more and more attention.In this paper,a new model combining dynamical saturating nonlinearity with regularized variational term for enhancement of low contrast image is proposed.The regularized variational term can be setting to total variation(TV),second order total generalized variation(TGV)and non-local means(NLM)in order to gradually suppress noise in the process of solving the model.In addition,the new model is tested on a mass of gray-scale images from standard test image and low contrast indoor color images from Low-Light dataset(LOL).By comparing the new model and other traditional image enhancement models,the results demonstrate the enhanced image not only obtain good perceptual quality but also get more excellent value of evaluation index compared with some previous methods. 展开更多

A Novel Probabilistic Saturating Counter Design for Secure Branch Predictor

In a modern processor,branch prediction is crucial in effectively exploiting the instruction-level parallelism for high-performance execution.However,recently exposed vulnerabilities reveal the urgency to improve the security of branch predictors.The vital cause of the branch predictor vulnerabilities is that the update strategy of the saturating counter is deterministic.As a fundamental building block in a modern branch predictor,previous studies have paid too much attention to the performance and hardware cost and ignored the security of saturating counter.This leaves attackers with the opportunities to perform side-channel attacks on the branch predictor.This paper focuses on the saturating counter to explore a secure and lightweight design to mitigate branch predictor side-channel attacks.Instead of applying the isolation mechanism to branch predictor resources,we propose a novel probabilistic saturating counter design to confuse the attacker's perception of the victim's behaviour.It changes the conventional deterministic state transition function to a probabilistic state transition function.When a branch is committed,the conventional saturating counter needs to be updated about whether the prediction results are correct or not.While for the probabilistic saturating counter,the branch predictor determines whether the update is performed based on the update probability.The probabilistic saturating counter dramatically reduces the ability of the attacker to spy the saturating counter's state.Our analyses using a cycle-accurate simulator suggest that the proposed mechanism incurs 2.4%performance overhead and hardware cost while providing strong protection. 展开更多

A cost-effective Fe-P-C nanocrystalline alloy(Fe_(85)P_9C_6)was developed via melt-spinning by eliminating expensive alloying elements and post-annealing steps.The microstructure consists of an amorphous matrix with uniformly dispersed nanocrystalline clusters,featuring an average size of approximately 5 nm.This dual-phase structure remains thermally stable up to 569 K and results in excellent magnetic and mechanical performance,including a high saturation magnetic induction of 1.69 T,Vickers hardness of 621 HV,and outstanding bending ductility.Crystallization proceeds via the transformation of a metastable fcc-(Fe,P,C)phase intoα-Fe,Fe_(3)C,and Fe_(3)P,driven by internal stress arising from atomic size mismatch.Continuous heating and cooling transformation diagrams further reveal that this process can be precisely controlled to optimize phase evolution.The high Fe content and stress-relaxed nanocrystalline clusters contribute to enhanced in-plane magnetic anisotropy and rapid domain response.This simplified,annealing-free approach not only reduces material and processing costs but also provides a viable pathway for scalable fabrication of next-generation soft magnetic alloys with superior performance and manufacturability. 展开更多

The differences in the competitive reactions of hydrogarnet and quicklime when reacting with titaniumcontaining and silicon-containing minerals during the Bayer digestion process were investigated.Thermodynamic analysis,artificial mineral experiments,and an evaluation of the digestion effect of natural diasporic bauxite were conducted.The results indicate that hydrogarnet shows a preferential reaction with anatase,and this preference becomes more pronounced as the silicon saturation coefficient increases.In contrast,quicklime participates in non-selective reactions with both anatase and desilication products(DSP).The preference of hydrogarnet for anatase significantly enhances the utilization efficiency of CaO in the high-temperature Bayer digestion process. 展开更多

Hepatitis B Virus(HBV)infection and heavy alcohol consumption are the two primary pathogenic causes of liver cirrhosis.In this paper,we proposed a deterministic mathematical model and a logistic equation to investigate the dynamics of liver cirrhosis progression as well as to explain the implications of variations in alcohol consumption on chronic hepatitis B patients,respectively.The intricate interactions between liver cirrhosis,recovery,and treatment dynamics are captured by the model.This study aims to show that alcohol consumption by Hepatitis B-infected individuals accelerates liver cirrhosis progression while treatment of acutely infected individuals reduces it.We proved that a unique solution of the proposed model exists,which is positive and bounded.Using the next-generation matrix approach,two basic reproductive numbers R_(A_(0))and R_(A_(max))are calculated to identify future recurrence.The equilibrium points are calculated,and both equilibria are proved locally and globally asymptotically stable when R_(0)is below and above one,respectively.It is shown that bifurcation exists at R_(0)=1 and a detailed proof for forward bifurcation is given.Furthermore,we performed the sensitivity analysis of the model parameters on R_(0).For the confirmation of analytical work,we performed numerical simulations,and the results indicate that the treatment and the inhibitory effects reduce the risk of developing liver cirrhosis in individuals,while heavy alcohol consumption accelerates markedly the liver cirrhosis progression in patients with chronic hepatitis B. 展开更多

Conventional ultrasound(US)evaluation of enthesitis in psoriatic arthritis(PsA)is limited by its inability to quantify metabolic alterations such as hypoxia,a key driver of disease activity.We introduce an oxygenation-integrated multimodal photoacoustic/ultrasound(PA/US)imaging framework designed to quantify entheseal oxygen saturation(SO_(2))for assessing entheseal disease activity in PsA.In this cross-sectional study,25 PsA patients underwent bilateral PA/US imaging of 12 entheses,where ultrasound lesions were scored using the Outcome Measures in Rheumatology scoring system,and PA-derived SO_(2) levels,quantified via dual-wavelength PA imaging,were classified into hyperoxia or hypoxia groups using k-means clustering.This approach provides metabolic insights complementary to conventional ultrasonic assessment.A composite score integrating hypoxia with US parameters was validated against clinical disease activity indices(Disease Activity Score 28-C-reactive protein,DAS28-CRP;Disease Activity Index for Psoriatic Arthritis,DAPSA).Among 300 entheses,103(34.3%)exhibited PA positivity,with 40(38.8%)classified as hypoxia.Hypoxia scores independently predicted DAS28-CRP(β=0.618,p=0.001)and DAPSA(β=0.612,p<0:001).The hypoxia-optimized PAUS score demonstrated superior correlation with disease activity indices compared to conventional US(DAS28-CRP:r=0.615,p=0.001 versus r=0.474,p=0.017;DAPSA:r=0.743,p<0:001 versus r=0.567,p=0.003),alongside superior diagnostic accuracy for minimal disease activity(area under the curve,AUC 0.776 versus 0.614,p=0.008)and low disease activity(AUC 0.853 versus 0.772,p=0.009).This multimodal scoring system enhances the stratification of PsA disease activity by providing unique metabolic insights,offering a potential tool for therapeutic monitoring and guiding treat-to-target strategies. 展开更多

Materials exhibiting broadband nonlinear optical responses are critically important for ultrafast photonics applications,particularly as saturable absorbers(SAs)that facilitate broadband optical pulse generation.In this study,tea polyphenolpolyvinyl alcohol(TP-PVA)composite films are synthesized via a polymer embedding method and employed as SAs to initiate ultrafast pulse operation in fiber lasers.The TP-PVA SA film exhibits excellent broadband saturable absorption performance at wavelengths of 1.0μm,1.5μm,and 2.0μm,with modulation depths of 54.21%,41.41%,and 51.16%,respectively.Stable passively mode-locked pulses with pulse widths of 588 fs,419 fs,and 743 fs are generated in Yb-,Er-,and Tm-doped fiber lasers,respectively.This work confirms the effective performance of TP-PVA as a broadband SA,and establishes a foundation for the integration of novel and sustainable materials within ultrafast photonic systems.The approach paves the way for developing compact broadband ultrafast laser systems operating in the near-infrared spectral region. 展开更多

Shield tunneling in saturated ground poses challenges due to the potential risk of ground collapse resulting from seepage force and inadequate support pressure.This study employed a laboratory model test and a theoretical validation to elucidate the mechanisms of face failure and subsequent ground collapse in saturated ground during slurry pressure-balanced shield(SPBS)tunneling operations.A slurry circulation system was developed to ensure steady shield tunneling and to replicate the phenomena of ground collapse.Investigations into shield tunneling parameters and ground responses,including soil pressure,pore water pressure,and surface subsidence,were conducted to understand the mechanisms of face failure and subsequent ground collapse.The theoretical solution for the critical collapse pressure of the tunnel face,based on the rotational failure mechanism,was validated through the comparison with the experimentally determined critical collapse pressure.The results indicate that:(1)appropriate adjustments of tunneling parameters are crucial for promoting filtercake formation,maintaining chamber pressure,and minimizing ground subsidence;(2)chamber pressure,soil pressure,pore water pressure,and ground subsidence are closely correlated with shield tunneling parameters and the formation of filter cake;(3)ground collapse follows a continuous failure mode due to the destruction of filtercake and the decrease in chamber pressure;(4)the soil pressure at the cutterhead is more sensitive to disturbances from shield tunneling than chamber pressure;and(5)experimentally determined critical collapse pressures is consistent with the theoretical solution of limit analysis. 展开更多

With the continuous development of the offshore wind industry,the design concept of composite foundation has been given attention in the past decade.This paper presents an accurate method for investigating the horizontal vibration of monopile-friction wheel composite foundations in layered saturated soil.Firstly,the three-dimensional continuum mechanics theory with the range of linear elasticity is introduced to calculate the frictional resistance distributed on the upper soil surface.Then,the resistances of multilayered soils and inviscid seawater to the pile shaft under horizontal harmonic excitation are obtained using Novak's plane strain model,Biot's porous media theory and radiationwave theory.Thirdly,the expressions for the deformation,bending moment and internal force of the Euler-Bernoulli pile are derived using the boundary conditions with definitephysical meaning and transfer matrix method.By comparing with the results of 1g laboratory test and the idealized formula reported by the literature,the rationality and accuracy of the developed dynamical model can be verified.Finally,this paper conducts a series of worked examples to investigate the influencesof the elastic modulus and thickness of three-layer saturated soil and the location of interlayer soil on the horizontal dynamic vibration of composite foundation.The results show that an increase in elastic modulus of the surface soil is an effective way to improve the dynamic stability of the composite foundation in service conditions.The conclusions drawn from the numerical examples can develop some guidelines for the current foundation design of offshore wind turbines. 展开更多

Active Fault Diagnosis and Early Warning Model of Distribution Transformers Using Sample Ensemble Learning and SO-SVM

Distribution transformers play a vital role in power distribution systems,and their reliable operation is crucial for grid stability.This study presents a simulation-based framework for active fault diagnosis and early warning of distribution transformers,integrating Sample Ensemble Learning(SEL)with a Self-Optimizing Support Vector Machine(SO-SVM).The SEL technique enhances data diversity and mitigates class imbalance,while SO-SVM adaptively tunes its hyperparameters to improve classification accuracy.A comprehensive transformer model was developed in MATLAB/Simulink to simulate diverse fault scenarios,including inter-turn winding faults,core saturation,and thermal aging.Feature vectors were extracted from voltage,current,and temperature measurements to train and validate the proposed hybrid model.Quantitative analysis shows that the SEL–SO-SVM framework achieves a classification accuracy of 97.8%,a precision of 96.5%,and an F1-score of 97.2%.Beyond classification,the model effectively identified incipient faults,providing an early warning lead time of up to 2.5 s before significant deviations in operational parameters.This predictive capability underscores its potential for preventing catastrophic transformer failures and enabling timely maintenance actions.The proposed approach demonstrates strong applicability for enhancing the reliability and operational safety of distribution transformers in simulated environments,offering a promising foundation for future real-time and field-level implementations. 展开更多

Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)is a powerful tool for diagnosing and monitoring brain diseases,but its low sensitivity can hinder early detection.To address this challenge,we utilized chemical exchange saturation transfer(CEST)MRI,which greatly enhances sensitivity for detecting low-concentration compounds.In this study,we developed a CEST contrast agent based on a recombinant adeno-associated viruses(rAAVs)encoding the protamine-1(PRM1)MRI reporter gene.CEST MRI revealed that PRM1 contrast agent effectively highlighted caudate putamen region after injection of the rAAVs into the mouse brain,clearly distinguishing it from the surrounding tissue,with no observable damage.This method provides a sensitive,metal-free CEST contrast agent for in vivo brain cell detection,demonstrating potential for both diagnostic and therapeutic applications in brain diseases. 展开更多

Chemical exchange saturation transfer magnetic resonance imaging is an advanced imaging technique that enables the detection of compounds at low concentrations with high sensitivity and spatial resolution and has been extensively studied for diagnosing malignancy and stroke.In recent years,the emerging exploration of chemical exchange saturation transfer magnetic resonance imaging for detecting pathological changes in neurodegenerative diseases has opened up new possibilities for early detection and repetitive scans without ionizing radiation.This review serves as an overview of chemical exchange saturation transfer magnetic resonance imaging with detailed information on contrast mechanisms and processing methods and summarizes recent developments in both clinical and preclinical studies of chemical exchange saturation transfer magnetic resonance imaging for Alzheimer’s disease,Parkinson’s disease,multiple sclerosis,and Huntington’s disease.A comprehensive literature search was conducted using databases such as PubMed and Google Scholar,focusing on peer-reviewed articles from the past 15 years relevant to clinical and preclinical applications.The findings suggest that chemical exchange saturation transfer magnetic resonance imaging has the potential to detect molecular changes and altered metabolism,which may aid in early diagnosis and assessment of the severity of neurodegenerative diseases.Although promising results have been observed in selected clinical and preclinical trials,further validations are needed to evaluate their clinical value.When combined with other imaging modalities and advanced analytical methods,chemical exchange saturation transfer magnetic resonance imaging shows potential as an in vivo biomarker,enhancing the understanding of neuropathological mechanisms in neurodegenerative diseases. 展开更多

Investigating structural and hydroxyl group effects in electrooxidation of alcohols to value-added products by solid-acid electrocatalysts is essential for upgrading biomass alcohols.Herein,we report efficient electrocatalytic oxidations of saturated alcohols(C_(1)-C_(6))to selectively form formate using Ni Co hydroxide(Ni Co-OH)derived Ni Co_(2)O_(4)solid-acid electrocatalysts with balanced Lewis acid(LASs)and Brønsted acid sites(BASs).Thermal treatment transforms BASs-rich(89.6%)Ni Co-OH into Ni Co_(2)O_(4)with nearly equal distribution of LASs(53.1%)and BASs(46.9%)which synergistically promote adsorption and activation of OH-and alcohol molecules for enhanced oxidation activity.In contrast,BASs-enriched Ni Co-OH facilitates formation of higher valence metal sites,beneficial for water oxidation.The combined experimental studies and theoretical calculation imply the oxidation ability of C1-C6alcohols increases as increased number of hydroxyl groups and decreased HOMO-LUMO gaps:methanol(C_(1))<ethylene glycol(C_(2))<glycerol(C3)<meso-erythritol(C4)<xylitol(C5)<sorbitol(C6),while the formate selectivity shows the opposite trend from 100 to 80%.This study unveils synergistic roles of LASs and BASs,as well as hydroxyl group effect in electro-upgrading of alcohols using solid-acid electrocatalysts. 展开更多
