Improvement of rotating laser Al/steel lap welded joints via Cu interlayer:Microstructure and mechanical properties

The joining of Al/steel dissimilar metals has emerged as a critical challenge in automotive lightweight design.The sound Al/steel lap configuration joints were achieved via the new welding technology,i.e.,the rotating laser welding method,with the inserted Cu foil interlayer.The interfacial temperature fields of the obtained joints were accurately predicted by finite element simulation.The results indicate that the heat concentration effect at the interface was generated via the rotating laser,and the temperature difference of the laser direct irradiation area,the middle area,and the welding toe region was controlled to 100°C.Besides,the inserted Cu interlayer significantly optimized interfacial metallurgical reactions,resulting in the formation of a uniform composite interface layer consisting ofθ-(Fe,Cu)_(4)Al_(13),a-Al,and Al_(2)Cu.The thermodynamic calculations elucidated the sequential phase evolution:the Al-Fe binary system was generated first,and then followed by the Al-Cu binary system in the welding process.The final joint line load was enhanced with the inserted rotating laser.When the rotating diameter was 1 mm and the thickness of Cu interlayer was 10μm,the joint line load reached the maximum value of 297 N/mm. 展开更多

Spatial angle measurement,especially the measurement of horizontal and vertical angle,is a basic method used for industrial large-scale coordinate measurement.As main equipments in use,both theodolites and laser trackers can provide very high accuracy for spatial angle measurement.However,their industrial applications are limited by low level of automation and poor parallelism.For the purpose of improving measurement efficiency,a lot of studies have been conducted and several alternative methods have been proposed.Unfortunately,all these means are either low precision or too expensive.In this paper,a novel method of spatial angle measurement based on two rotating planar laser beams is proposed and demonstrated.Photoelectric receivers placed on measured points are used to receive the rotating planner laser signals transmitted by laser transmitters.The scanning time intervals of laser planes were measured,and then measured point's horizontal/vertical angles can be calculated.Laser plane's angle parameters are utilized to establish the abstract geometric model of transmitter.Calculating formulas of receiver's horizontal/vertical angles have been derived.Measurement equations'solvability conditions and judgment method of imaginary solutions are also presented after analyzing.Proposed method for spatial angle measurement is experimentally verified through a platform consisting of one laser transmitter and one optical receiver.The transmitters used in new method are only responsible for providing rotating light plane signals carrying angle information.Receivers automatically measure scanning time of laser planes and upload data to the workstation to calculate horizontal angle and vertical angle.Simultaneous measurement of multiple receivers can be realized since there is no human intervention in measurement process.Spatial angle measurement result indicates that the repeatable accuracy of new method is better than 10".Proposed method can improve measurement's automation degree and speed while ensuring measurement accuracy. 展开更多

Based on two-dimensional(2D)semiconductor Bloch equation simulations,we demonstrate tunable high-order harmonic generation in monolayer MoS_(2) driven by counter-rotating two-color circular laser pulses.Single-helicity harmonic generation is achievable:tuning the fundamental-to-second-harmonic field amplitude ratio suppresses left-handed plateau harmonics,yielding dominant right-handed emission.Valley-resolved analysis attributes this to destructive interference between K/K′-valley harmonics along both x and y axes.Further adjustment of the amplitude ratio and field rotation angle reverses the helicity,switching to left-handed dominance and enabling on-demand helicity control.This work deciphers the valley-interference mechanism governing circular harmonic generation in 2D transition-metal dichalcogenides,pioneering a pathway to single-helicity harmonics and solidstate circular attosecond pulses. 展开更多

Time series of Earth rotation parameters were estimated from range data measured by the satellite laser ranging technique to the Laser Geodynamics Satellites(LAGEOS)-1/2 through 2005 to 2010 using the dynamic method. Compared with Earth orientation parameter(EOP)C04, released by the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service, the root mean square errors for the measured X and Y of polar motion(PM) and length of day(LOD)were 0.24 and 0.25 milliarcseconds(mas), and 0.068 milliseconds(ms), respectively.Compared with ILRSA EOP, the X and Y of PM and LOD were 0.27 and 0.30 mas, and 0.054 ms, respectively. The time series were analyzed using the wavelet transformation and least squares methods. Wavelet analysis showed obvious seasonal and interannual variations of LOD, and both annual and Chandler variations of PM; however, the annual variation could not be distinguished from the Chandler variation because the two frequencies were very close. The trends and periodic variations of LOD and PM were obtained in the least squares sense, and PM showed semi-annual, annual, and Chandler periods.Semi-annual, annual, and quasi-biennial cycles for LOD were also detected. The trend rates of PM in the X and Y directions were 3.17 and 1.60 mas per year, respectively, and the North Pole moved to 26.8E relative to the crust during 2005—2010. The trend rate of the LOD change was 0.028 ms per year. 展开更多

A mode-locked thulium-doped fiber laser(TDFL) based on nonlinear polarization rotation(NPR) with different net anomalous dispersion is demonstrated. When the cavity dispersion is-1.425 ps^2, the noise-like(NL) pulse with coherence spike width of 406 fs and pulse energy of 12.342 nJ is generated at a center wavelength of 2003.2 nm with 3 dB spectral bandwidth of 23.20 nm. In the experimental period of 400 min, the 3 dB spectral bandwidth variation, the output power fluctuation, and the central wavelength shift are less than 0.06 nm, 0.04 d B, and0.4 nm, respectively, indicating that the NPR-based TDFL operating in the NL regime holds good long-term stability. 展开更多

Based on a single-channel laser self-mixing interferometcr, we present a new silnultaneous measurement of the vibration amplitude and tile rotation angle of objects that both affect the power spectrum containing two peaks of the interferometer signals. The fitted results indicate that the curve of the peak frequency versus the vibration amplitude follows a linear distribution, and the curve of the difference of the two-peak power values versus the angle follows a Gaussian distribution. A vibration amplitude with an error less than 3.0% and a rotation angle with an error less than 11.7% are calculated from the fitted results. 展开更多

A novel design of optical sampling system has been developed by using sum-frequency generation (SFG) in a periodically-poled lithium niobate (PPLN) waveguide and using passive mode-locked fiber laser pulses as optical sampling pulses. The system achieved high temporal resolution and high sensitivity using a 30 mm length PPLN with quasi phase match period of 19.3 μm and 151 fs sampling pulses which were generated by passive modelock fiber laser based on nonlinear polarization rotation (NPR). Clear eye-diagram of 10 Gbit/s non-return-to-zeros (NRZ) pseudorandom binary sequence (PRBS) optical signal were successfully reconstructed by this system. 展开更多

An elliptical initial polarization state is essential for generating mode-locked pulses using the nonlinear polarization rotation technique. In this work, the relationship between the ellipticity ranges capable of maintaining mode-locked operation against different pump power levels is investigated. An increasing pump power, in conjunction with minor adjustments to the polarization controller's quarter waveplate, results in a wider ellipticity range that can accommodate mode-locked operation. Other parameters such as noise, pulsewidth, and average output power are also observed to vary as the ellipticity changes. 展开更多

The trapping of fine particles at micron-sized diameters by a YAG laser system, induced flows, and the induced motion of the particles by laser beam irradiations are discussed. Particle rotations are observed by using anisotropic micro objects, and moreover the rotational rate with clockwise direction is 22 r/min. The fragments of a cover glass were mixed in a water droplet, and their size and shape are uneven. The rotation of that non-spheres without scanning by the Galvano scanner is also observed in water. 展开更多
