Measurements show that the induction rates of tetraploid in the embryos inspected are 28%, 30%, 28. 4% and 35. 8% for heat-shock (39℃, 3 min),cold-shock (10℃, 3min),chlorpromazinum (0. 375 mg/dm3, 10 min) and traditional Chinese medicine (50 g/dm3 )extract (57 cm3, 10 min),respectively. The tetraploid induction rate in the larvae treated with traditional Chinese medicine is 32. 5%.It is evident that the induction rate of tetraploid in embryos insected at an early stage is the most remarkable when treated. with traditional Chinese medicine.展开更多
A study of the genetic diversity within four subpopulations of Chimonobambusa rivularis Yi and adaptations to altitude, habitat and related factors in Qionglai City of Sichuan province in China, analyzed by random amp...A study of the genetic diversity within four subpopulations of Chimonobambusa rivularis Yi and adaptations to altitude, habitat and related factors in Qionglai City of Sichuan province in China, analyzed by random amplified polymorphic DNA technique. 22 random primers were selected in the amplification and 375 repetitive loci with 350 polymorphic loci were produced. The total average percentage of amplification loci was 93.3%. The genetic diversity of every subpopulation was medium on (the percentage of amplification loci was 49.33%-66.67%). The genetic diversity of high altitude samples of Zhengtiantai was lower than that of low altitude Wutonggang's. There was no obvious differentiation between two subpopulations of Zhengtiantais. The correlation is very low between altitude and the amplification loci and the genetic distance, Pearson correlation coefficient was 0.431 and 0.488 (P 〈 0.01). Through investigation, the primary cause of heredity multiplicity drops was that the habitat had been destroyed by tourism development and other human disturbance.展开更多
: The floral morphogenesis and androecium developmental sequence of Anemone rivularis Buch.-Ham. ex DC. var. flore-minore Maxim. were observed under a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and by means of histological me...: The floral morphogenesis and androecium developmental sequence of Anemone rivularis Buch.-Ham. ex DC. var. flore-minore Maxim. were observed under a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and by means of histological methods in order to expand our knowledge of the morphogenesis and development of the floral organs of the Ranunculaceae. The initiation of the floral elements is a centripetal spiral and the direction of the spiral is clockwise or anti-clockwise. However, the development of the androecium is highly unusual: in a longitudinal series of four stamens, the second stamen develops first from the inner to outer, then the third one, the fourth one and the first one in turn. The microsporogenesis and anther maturation follows the same developmental sequence. The tepals are different from the bracts and the stamens in both shape and size in the early developmental stage, but there is no difference between the stamens and carpels in the early developmental stage. Therefore, we established a spatio-temporal process of the floral morphogenesis of A. rivularis var. flore-minore and offer another meaning of the floral diversity patterns attributed to the level of the genus.展开更多

In traditional medicine the plant has been used for the treatment of ulcer, bleeding during chil...Astilbe rivularis Buch. Ham., a rhizomatous perennial herb of the Saxifragaceae family, has been listed in rare species. In traditional medicine the plant has been used for the treatment of ulcer, bleeding during child birth, inflammation, body ache, diarrhea, and dysentery. This article reviews and analyses the traditional use, pharmacological activities of the corresponding bioactive compounds, and toxicological data on A. rivularis species. A. rivularis has been used across Indian subcontinent to treat various human ailments. Its extract consists of alkaloids, flavonoids, coumarins and glycosides. These extracts as well as isolated bioactive compounds demonstrated various biological activities including antimicrobial, anti-peptic ulcer, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant activity. Toxicological studies of the extract on brine shrimp larvae demonstrated mild toxicity;however no acute toxicity in mice. Although the pharmacological effect of A. rivularis has been poorly explored, the available data validated its use in ethnomedicine. To reveal the cryptic therapeutic potential of the species, research should focus on identification and mechanistic studies of the bioactive compounds.展开更多
